Aizawa Shota was handling some minor thugs who wanted to take advantage of the chaos when Todoroki Shoto appeared.
Shota lands one final punch and turns to the teen, dread building in his gut.
"What are you doing here, Todoroki?" He asks, not even turning to elbow a thug who'd stumbled up trying to tackle him.
"Iida and Midoriya entered an altercation with Stain—" Where's Yukimura? "—and Yukimura subdued him." Ah. "She sent me to get pro hero assistance and possible medical for pro hero Native."
' The easiest ', he remembers thinking two days ago. He needs his eye drops, he feels a migraine coming on.
" Bring me there ," Shota states, "And freeze these thugs."
He doesn't want to leave them unattended but he has three students to save, all not where they're supposed to be , from a serial hero killer.
Stain gives his speech.
Yukimura Kenzo doesn't know if that's a good thing or not, she thinks as she watches the man give it, blood still on his face from Aizawa's attack and herself stuck in place.
That look on his face. She flinches, something she's not prone to doing, and she sees Shoto dart his eyes over to her, if just for a second.
This is important to the plot, really really important because without it she doesn't know who will be in the league or how to combat them.
It's terrifying though.
He falls though, his struggling through his weapons turned prison cracks some things out of place, notably a rib. Just like she knew happened back in the anime.
That makes her worried for the longevity of her changes, with blood pulsing in her throat and eyes never leaving the fallen killer.
Kenzo doesn't have time to worry about it though, not when Aizawa's coming towards her and her classmates with blazing red eyes.
At least Stain isn't dead?
Todoroki Shoto does not like the hospital.
Most people probably don't, it means being sick or dying loved ones, but Shoto can only think of his mother and his burn when he's here.
He remembers fuzzy hours in the pediatric ward of an expensive private hospital getting healed by a doctor who specialized in scar removal.
Endeavor didn't want his greatest creation to be marred by a stupid woman's hand, after all. In his words.
So no. Shoto doesn't like the hospital, but Izuku and Iida got their asses beat and Yukimura and Shoto can't be outside telling people what's happened.
"If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" Yukimura asks the ceiling. Shoto doesn't look away from his section of said ceiling.
"Yes," He states.
"Why?" There's nothing but curiosity in Yukimura's tone, and quiet contentment. She's had the entire week off of work, apparently, and laying in a bed all day is like a dream to her.
"Vibration doesn't depend on human ears," Shoto replies.
"Okay," Yukimura says. The other two are asleep recovering, they'd been napping regularly over the course of the day.
Shoto chances a glance at the girl, scanning her pajama covered form.
Does she have scars from her father, he wonders?
Yukimura turns and meets his gaze.
"What's up?"
"Did Kaito scar you?" Shoto asks. He's never been good at tact.
"Ignoring the mental side of things, ima put out a yeah," Yukimura says, before sitting up and lifting up her shirt a bit. There's small scars from cuts on her stomach, though nothing like his face.
"Metal bats are real good at breaking things, and sometimes he'd just smash shit when he was pissed and push me into it to clean it up." She gestures vaguely to the scars. There's a few more on her arms, now that he's looking.
Shoto nods calmly.
"Other than that not really. Nothing like your face. Your's did turn out badass though."
Shoto looks at his reflection in the window, not really seeing it. Oh just looking at it brings up all his complicated feelings about his mother but only looking at it aesthetically is odd.
A nurse steps inside the room and checks Iida and Midoriya's vital signs, during which the both of them go back to looking at the ceiling.
He leaves after a few minutes, and Shoto hears Yukimura sigh.
"My Ma is gonna be so worried when we get out of here."
Shoto looks over at the girl again, and she's frowning at the ceiling.
"I don't think I've done anything this dangerous since the USJ, and before that since middle school. I guess this learning to be a hero stuff is more life threatening than I thought."
Shoto hums in acknowledgement. Endeavor had made it clear from the moment his quirk appeared that he would face danger. Even from him.
"Wanna thumb wrestle?" Yukimura asks after a moment. Shoto shrugs.
Yukimura climbs out of her warm cocoon and flops onto Shoto's own bed. "I dunno if you'd played before so here's how it goes…"
She grabs his hand slower than she could, letting him know where her hand is going before it gets there. She carefully puts his hand into a thumbs up position, her fingers and his own pressed together.
Shoto blinks.
"Basically we both do this," She moves her thumb from one side to the other. "—and while we do that we say 'One, two, three, four, I declare a thumb war.' Then we try to capture each other's thumbs under our own thumb," Yukimura explains. Her legs are crossed under her and Shoto's had to sit up in a similar position.
Shoto doesn't know the last time someone held his hand. Yukimura's is smaller than his own. Was it Fuyumi who did it last? He can't remember.
"Okay." The game seems to be fairly simple, similar to rock, paper, scissors. No quirk use unlike in sparring.
"Great, now lets play."
Shoto gets beat twice and she once by the time that nurse steps back in.
It's nice. Though he's going to beat her more than she him by the end of the hour, he swears.
Hagakure Toru is a bit concerned.
Yukimura Kenzo, Ken to her, always sends goodmorning and goodnight texts. Every day, without fail. Sometimes Toru will get a text after Toru's went to bed, most of the time thanks to Ken's work, but she always sends it.
No goodnight or good morning text last night and today. Does that mean she didn't sleep? Toru doesn't know, she isn't answering her texts.
Agh, what if she's in trouble? What if she and Aizawa-sensei got into a battle with a villain and she's hurt? What if she's dying of sleep deprivation and it's so bad she can't text her?
Alright so that's probably unlikely. She could've just forgotten, but Ken remembers everything to a T. She's got photographic memory for Pete's sake, she couldn't forget if she wanted to!
Toru shakes her knee, frowning and watching other interns work through paperwork. This is definitely more boring than she thought it would be. She checks her phone again and huffs at her sole notification.
StreamSkape, and another All Might: Ascension playthrough episode. Come on, just stick to Minecraft, WillisDuck.
Hagakure sends Ochaco a text. Maybe that weird message Midoriya sent is just putting her on edge?
hagabaka : Hey, Ochaco! You heard from Ken? She hasn't been texting me back and I'm a lil worried ;3;'
Toru spends the next fifteen minutes working through a report, cheek squished against her propped up hand.
Toru quickly grabs the phone when it buzzes, and reads the text.
OptionalGravity : Sorry, was training! Uhm I dunno? She last sent me a picture of Sensei, she photoshopped cat ears on him! It was cute~
Gasp. She dare not send her such good blackmail material? Toru is hurt.
hagabaka : Send it right nowwww!
OptionalGravity : [ image]
That is adorable and Toru is going to frame it.
hagabaka : Anyways, she didn't send me a goodmorning or a goodnight last night. She's only been patrolling at night so I'm a little worried that something had happened to her or Sensei. What with Midoriya's weird text and the stuff that went down in Hosu I'm worried. '
Agh, word vomit. Your hopes she isn't weirding Ochaco out, she shouldn't be so worried!
OptionalGravity : Come to think of it, Tenya and Deku haven't texted me since yesterday either… Now I'm worried /
OptionalGravity : And Tenya was acting super weird before he left, he's been interning in Hosu
Toru's stomach feels sick. Something about this just isn't right, right? Is she just being weird?
"Off your phone, Stealth Hero," A pro says.
"Ah, sorry!"
Something is fishy about this and if Toru doesn't get a message from Ken today she's gonna call Yukimura Miho-san.
Iida Tenya didn't know what to expect when he woke up in the hospital.
Last night's events were… straining. Foolhardy of him. Embarrassing, almost.
No, certainly embarrassing. Yukimura had given him a sound dressing down on his actions, and Aizawa-sensei's disapproving, clipped statements were certainly enough to make him blush.
Tenya still wants to kill Stain, that he can't just immediately forget, but for now? He'd rather just sleep away his aches and mortification at his words than deal with them.
"Do you think we can convince the nurse to bring us a deck of cards?" Yukimura says in the bed across from his own. Tenya suddenly focuses in on his surroundings, spotting Yukimura and Todoroki in the midst of a thumb wrestling match.
"Depends. Do you think he'll take credit?" Todoroki says with almost no infliction, and Yukimura huffs a laugh.
"Bribery is illegal," Tenya states before he can stop himself. Yukimura snaps her head to the side, giving him a quick look over frown where he's sitting up.
"Iida, good morning. How are you feeling?" Yukimura asks, frowning. Iida's embarrassment rears its ugly head again, and he tries to shove down the uncomfortable feeling.
"I am a bit out of sorts, but fine. Thank you for asking," Tenya replies, happy to find none of his internal feelings bleeding into his speech.
"That's good," Yukimura says.
Midoriya makes a surprised noise in the bed next to his own.
"Hospital?" Midoriya asks himself, half awake confusion in his words.
"Hospital," Todoroki replies in the same almost inflectionless tone.
Midoriya makes a noise and sits up, blinking and looking around frantically.
"You okay, Izuku?" Yukimura asks Tenya's frantic friend, and the boy suddenly stops and looks at the girl, embarrassed.
"Yes! I just- ah, I forgot where I went to sleep, is all," Midoriya states, before looking down at his hands on top of his blanket.
Tenya wouldn't be alive if it weren't for him. Something in him flinches at that.
"So. We went against a villain and lived. Again," Midoriya states.
"I apologize deeply for putting you three in danger," Tenya quickly states, attempting a deep bow and grimacing at the pain it brings to his arms. They'd been broken in his initial fight with Stain. "It was foolish of me to face a murderer on my own."
He means it. It tastes like bile on his tongue but he means it with all he has. All he can think of is any of them lying in a hospital bed like Tensei, broken. Because of him.
"It was," Todoroki says, and Tenya holds back a flinch. He deserves this.
"But don't apologize for us coming to your rescue, Iida! We're future heroes, it's what we do," Midoriya quickly interrupts. Tenya straightens from his hunch and looks at the other three. Yukimura nods.
"Agreed. We all do dumb shit, Iida. I'm just glad I was there to subdue Stain," Yukimura offers. Todoroki nods from his seat beside her.
"Agreed. Neither of you have proper quirks for subduing more powerful foes. If Midoriya hadn't sent that text, you'd have died," Todoroki says. They all pause when the door opens, revealing Midoriya's pro-hero he was interning with, and pro-hero Manual.
"Oh, so the injured youngins are awake!" The elderly hero says.
"Gran Torino!" Midoriya says, straightening in his seat with a wide smile.
The smile falls when Gran Torino begins to ring him out for being an idiot, and pauses to introduce a tall man with a dog head.
He's the Hosu chief of police, Tsuragamae Kenji.
Tenya is quick to stand, and in the corner of his eye he sees Yukimura and Todoroki quickly move to do the same. Midoriya is stopped before he can fully stand.
"No, please remain seated, woof," The chief states.
Woof?
"Stain is currently in the hospital for severe injury, under heavy guard," The dog man offers first.
"A few of these injuries can easily be traced back to you four, though not severe on their own they cumulatively are a serious risk to his overall health."
They legally were not allowed to use their quirks in such a way, not without certification. Even with life at risk, Native especially.
The claim to their work will go to Aizawa-sensei. They are in trouble. Or, they would be if this went public.
They're released that afternoon, Yukimura pats him on the shoulder before she leaves.
yukiyukiken : so yeah basically aizawa and i got thrown into the center of the action in hosu. i was exhausted and my phone was dead. did get a nice view of stain getting grabbed though
Toru lets out a breath in relief.
hagabaka : Oh wow really? I was patrolling last night but you know this agency is nowhere near Hosu so I didn't get to see a thing! Was it cool? And scary?
yukiyukiken : i mean it was something all right. plenty of metal around to keep thugs secured in places where they couldn't raid stores.
Man, all Toru got to do last night was pick up litter. Not that being nice to the environment is bad! It's just… boring.
yukiyukiken : agh bro gotta go, my ma is really upset about how i didn't say goodnight and good morning and i gotta call her. call me when you feel like it
Well, that explains that. Toru is glad her friend isn't hurt, though she kinda wishes she could've been around too.
"Off your phone, Stealth hero."
Toru quickly does so and focuses back on on her paperwork. Ugh, she didn't realize there was this much of it when she signed up to be a hero…
