The waiting room was tense as Vegeta paced the length of the room, as all of his friends and family waited for the news. Bulma had gone into labor last night and Goku had used Instant Transmission to get her to the best hospital in West City. A doctor exited from the back and approached Vegeta, a tired smile on his face.

"Congratulations, your wife has given birth to a girl." The doctor said to the tense saiyan, "Your wife will need some time to recover, but she will be fine."

The room filled with cheers as Vegeta relaxed, a imperceptible smile on his face as Xtrunks and Trunks grinned wildly.

"Can we see her?" Xtrunks asked impatiently.

The doctor nodded at the young man, "For a few minutes, she is still rather tired."

Goku walked up to Vegeta, "Go. You should see your daughter."

Vegeta nodded as he and his sons followed the doctor back inside.

Kurai and his friends exited the hospital, all of them in good spirits with Vegeta and his family staying behind and Bulma still in recovery. They all got a chance the young girl with the same blue hair of her mother as Bulma smiled tiredly at them as they cooed over the little one. When Vegeta stepped up to hold his daughter everyone had gone quiet as the Prince held the bundle close to his chest. He had been the one to decide the name as Bulma already had named their sons and Bulma had agreed, seeing Vegeta take the bundle with utter care.

"Eschalot." He murmured softly to the sleeping infant, the entire world fading into the background around him, "A traditional saiyan name for my daughter."

That matter being settled, Vegeta and his sons reluctantly left the room to let Bulma get the proper rest after her giving birth. Vegeta hid nothing about not wanting to leave at all, but eventually acquiesced with another look back at his wife and daughter.

Kurai blinked as he and Goku had decided to rest after a spar in their Super Saiyan 4 and Kurai had just finished healing both of their wounds. The former Time Patroller felt a familiar ki enter the Earth's atmosphere, a shiver running up his spine as he realized what just happened.

Beerus had returned.

There was no party to attend and therefore no chance for Beerus to be distracted by food and festivities. This would become a fight either way and there was no way to stop it, even with the party it had eventually become a fight but now there was no possible chance to avoid it. This time Vegeta might not even receive the rage boost he experienced when he saw Bulma slapped by Beerus. In his rage he had managed to surpass Super Saiyan 3 Goku's power level for a short time before Beerus actually let out a little more power to beat him down.

Then again the possible death of his infant daughter…

Kurai scowled.

No.

He would not let it come to that.

He would not subject Vegeta to the possible loss of his family.

If he had to take on Beerus himself he would.

He'd use all his power to stop the God.

Super Saiyan Blue Evolution.

Ultra Instinct.

All or nothing gambit.

He did know of one last transformation he had the potential to unlock and use, but he hadn't quite find a trigger to go that far yet.

This might be it.

Goku notice Kurai's expression turned to him in puzzlement, "What's wrong?"

No sooner than he said that when a pillar of light slammed into the ground behind him.

"He's back." Kurai mumbled sourly.

The light faded and revealed Beerus and Whis, the angel smiling cheerfully and the god frowning neutrally.

Kurai immediately dropped to a knee and dragged Goku down to do the same, "Lord Beerus, it's a pleasure to see you again. What brings you here?"

"I intend to find The Super Saiyan God." Beerus said simply, eyes coming to rest on Goku, "Seeing as you are the Saiyan who bested Frieza, you are my best chance to meet said Super Saiyan God."

Goku looked to Kurai who tensed imperceptibly at the title, but thankfully Beerus was too focused on Goku.

Instead Whis cocked his head at Kurai, who felt his stomach plummet at the spark of realization in the angel's eyes.

Whis — to Kurai's relief — stayed quiet but a smile quirked his lips as he chuckled lightly to himself.

"Well I don't know what Super Saiyan God is…" Goku himself stood up and pointed to himself, "But does that mean that you want to fight me?"

Beerus nodded, "Indeed. If you are the Super Saiyan God I have been told of, you should be quite the satisfying opponent for me. Though be aware, I am a God of Destruction and I would advise you not to take me lightly."

"Fighting a God? That sounds amazing!" Goku grinned, excitement clear, "I'd love to fight you!"

Kurai placed a hand on Goku's shoulder and leaned in to whisper, "Flattened your full power at Super Saiyan 3 with a finger flick and neck chop. You may be stronger now, but not enough to make a difference if you think how you normally fight is enough to take him on."

Goku turned and looked at Kurai with surprise, "Wait… you mean he was that person?"

Kurai nodded solemnly, "Go all out at the start and don't hold a single iota of power back, if you don't he will take you out like it's nothing."

Goku demeanor shifted into something more wary as he eyed Beerus, who smirked at the look in Goku's eyes.

Goku and Beerus stared each other down as Kurai and Whis observed from a relatively safe distance away. They had relocated as far away from the city as possible while still staying on planet, he had informed the various Z-fighters of their new ability to breath in space and Goku and Vegeta both tested it before confirming that there was no risk to it. That being said, Earth was able to host battles so long as the fighters restrained themselves without trying to go all out.

Plus, Whis had set up a large barrier to minimize any collateral damage to the planet and surrounding area.

Goku let out a shout as he powered up, his hair shifting from black to gold, barely pausing for a moment before moving into the next level of Super Saiyan until soon there was a Super Saiyan 4 Goku standing in front of Beerus. The ground shook and rock outcroppings that were too close crumbled and sent clouds of dust into air around the two combatants. Tension hung in the air as Beerus smirked at the sight; he seemed pleased by the power Goku was generating in this form. Goku dropped into his stance and a frown made its way onto his face as Beerus made no move to ready himself, his arms still behind his back as he waited. Goku couldn't sense any overwhelming power from the god, not even a hint of ki coming from him.

Was he tamping it down on it completely?

Goku launched himself forwards, throwing a punch at the god as fast as he can.

Beerus blinked and raised an arm with ludicrous speed to block the blow, the sheer power causing wind to rush past the God as the force of Goku's punch caused a vacuum effect in the air. Beerus smirked and spun, his hand twisting to grasp Goku's outstretched arm before tossing the saiyan away. Goku let out a a cry of shock and spun to right himself in mid-air, his eyes narrowing in realization of just how right Kurai had been. If he had tried to attack Beerus as a Super Saiyan 3, he wouldn't have been able to make the god even need an arm to block any attacks. That being said, Beerus had blocked his attack with contemptuous ease before he tossed him aside with incredible speed. Had Goku been any weaker he wouldn't have been able to recover in midair any would've crashed into any of the surrounding rocks or the wall of the barrier itself. Goku powered up and rushed the God again, lashing out with a kick that Beerus sidestepped before throwing his own punch. Goku managed to block the attack but the force knocked him off track and sent him skidding to the side as Beerus lowered his arm. Goku shook out his arm, frowning at the pain radiating from where he had blocked Beerus' attack before looking up at the god.

"Incredible." Goku breathed, smiling despite the situation, "You're absolutely incredible Lord Beerus."

Beerus smirked, pleased at his opponent, "You're not half-bad yourself saiyan, I wasn't aware that you could grow this strong. I don't know if you might be The Super Saiyan God I seek, but even so you should hold your head high. Not many could boast that they could even block my attack and still remain standing afterwards."

Goku's ki raged around him as he powered up, a savage smile on his face, "I am nowhere near done yet Lord Beerus!"

Kurai watched in suprise as Goku and Beerus clashed, he didn't think Goku would've been able to actually block any of Beerus' moves at all. Let alone keep himself on his feet if he was on the receiving end of any of Beerus attacks even if the god was playing around. Even now, Goku poured himself into the assault and although Kurai could sense Beerus wasn't giving it his all, it was more than he thought.

He thought that Super Saiyan 4 would not be enough to bridge the gap between the saiyan and the God, but the fact that Goku was able to do this much was proof of how far he had surpassed his mainline counterpart. Kurai had known Super Saiyan 4 was nothing to sneeze at but it seemed that Kurai had been lowballing just how much of a power up it was. Then again, Kurai already had Super Saiyan God to compare it to, nobody else did, not even his fellow time patroller Cauri. Plus, Kurai had extensively trained with his God forms before even attempting to try Super Saiyan 4, and his divine power had grown considerably during multiple sessions in The Hyperbolic Time Chamber before that.

So maybe saying Super Saiyan 4 would never catch up to his divine power was a bit of an unfair assessment for his friend considering he forgot how Goku always strove to surpass himself. That said, the power increase of Super Saiyan God still outstripped Super Saiyan 4 and Goku didn't have access to that. But if things progressed as Kurai imagined they would it would end with Beerus and Goku not on planet as Beerus instructed the saiyan.

Goku was not overtaking Beerus or winning the fight, but it was clear by the small smile on Beerus' face that he was impressed by Goku's power and tenacity. Goku's expression was a mix of frustration and excitement as he an Beerus crashed together, knowing he was on the back-foot but ecstatic that he could fight someone so strong. He was already sporting a few marks from the battle, a split lip, a bruise on his chest, scuff and tears across his body from times he couldn't right himself before he hit the ground. Beerus on the other hand, was practically untouched despite how hard Goku was pushing himself to beat the god. The scary part was Beerus was still holding back by quite a lot in the fight, and Kurai was sure Goku knew judging by the amused look on Beerus face.

Goku darted away from one of Beerus' kick and threw his arms out while shouting, "Kaio-ken!"

Whis put a hand over his mouth as he chuckled, "Isn't that the technique that the North Kai can teach his students? I wasn't aware that Goku knew it."

"It was a very long time ago since Goku trained under King Kai to be honest, but since the Z-fighters were revived they could use it. I guess they were all taught about that technique while in Otherworld. Goku was the first to use it but he let go of it as it wasn't as efficient as The Super Saiyan Transformation." Kurai explained, "I didn't consider it could be used with Super Saiyan 4, but it does make sense if you think about it."

Kurai mused at the red ki that raged around Goku as he was shrouded in the same technique he had applied to Super Saiyan Blue in the Universe 7 vs Universe 6 match and later in the tournament of power. He hadn't expected Goku to think of that until he had god ki to combine it with, then again Goku had always known the technique and Super Saiyan 4 lack of stamina drain made it a feasible way to power up. Plus, his earthling friends had been learning and busting the Kaio-ken out quite a lot over the recent years and he supposed Goku would've experimented with it a bit since he had been reminded so much of it. Super Saiyan was a technique that still required stamina and mastery to keep the drain to a minimum, as evidenced by how Goku and Gohan trained to achieve full mastery during the Cell Games to great effect. Before Goku had only managed the Super Kaio-ken due to the increased durability of his dead body at the time. With the tail practically negating the strain of the Super Saiyan forms and increased durability that the Super Saiyan forms provided, The Super Kaio-ken could be used on top with minor drawbacks to the user. It wasn't perfect, Goku had only stayed at the first level and while that wasn't something to overlook, Beerus wasn't someone who you could win against even with a Kiao-ken times fifty boost.

Maybe he should look into learning that technique too…

It seemed to be the common fad at the moment, and besides he was already mashing together all the techniques that would work together so he could to try to walk his own path. He had the tools, means, and teachers so there was no point in not doing it, he was only limiting himself if he said he couldn't do something.

Kurai noted that several ki signatures were rapidly approaching as he realized that many people were capable of sensing Goku going all out.

Whatever, they would be told what was going to happen even if they didn't witness the fight anyway.

This time Goku blitzed forward and punched Beerus across the face, sending the god skidding back before righting himself. The God of Destruction raised a hand to rub at his cheek, before looking up at Goku with a wide grin. Goku's own face reflected Beerus smile as he landed a solid blow against the God without needing the power of Super Saiyan God. Kurai's own saiyan blood sang with anticipation of the fight, if Goku could do it without having to use Super Saiyan God, then he could too.

"You actually hurt The God of Destruction. Now that's impressive." Beerus remarked, purple ki suddenly erupting out of him, "Maybe I should show you a little bit more power saiyan."

Goku's jaw dropped.

He still couldn't sense him but he was clearly powering up s he felt the pressure of Beerus' power weighing the area down.

What was going on?

Goku crossed his arms just in time to block a kick that sent him flying back through a rocky outcropping. He looked up in time to see Beerus' tail come down and slap him on to the Earth resulting in a plume of dust from the impact. Goku shot out of the crater only to find that Beerus had vanished, and with Goku being unable to sense him, he had no idea where to look for him.

"Right here." a voice said from behind him.

Goku whirled only for Beerus to flick him in forehead and send him flying back into the rocky outcropping he previously smashed through, causing it to crumble on top of him. A explosion of red ki spilled though the rubble as Goku flared his ki and scattered the debris. There was blood running from his mouth and he staggered as he stood, teeth gritted in pain from the hits he just took.

Unbelievable.

Beerus let loose a little and in three moves damaged him that heavily.

He had thought Super Saiyan 4 mixed with his Kaio-ken would at least allow Beerus to take him seriously. He had trained so hard to get so far and even now it seemed he was no closer to the god's power than all those years before when Kurai had told him how easily Beerus had flattened his other self. But even so, Goku could help the excitement of his saiyan blood singing in his veins as he was confronted with a power left to surmount. His new opponent to beat was in front of him, this was the next person he would surpass, he knew he could do it if he tried.

Goku wouldn't be able to forgive himself with anything less.

Beerus slowly touched down to the Earth, giving the struggling saiyan a entertained smirk,"So do you think you can win?"

Goku sighed, but smiled all the same, "No, but I still want to try."

He surged forward towards the god who lowered his arms.

The rest of the Z-fighters had arrived, landing next to Kurai and Whis, staring at Goku as he once again clashed with Beerus who had completely abandoned using his hands and was now simply using his legs to block and divert all of Goku's attacks. Everybody was stunned to see that Goku wasn't able to breach Beerus' defenses even with him using Kaio-ken and Super Saiyan 4 in conjunction with each other. Eventually after showing off his superiority, Beerus lashed out with a swift kick that knocked Goku over and sent him skidding across the ground on his back. Before Goku could come to a full stop or even try to recover, Beerus came down and smashed both feet into Goku's stomach and bringing him to a painful stop. Goku let out a mouthful of spittle and blood as he felt like his insides had been hit with a Dragon Fist he hadn't anticipated. His Kaio-ken dissipated as well as his Super Saiyan 4 transformation as he coughed weakly and struggled against the overwhelming agony.

"You did your best, but still not enough." Beerus sighed, " Though you did quite well, I suppose you aren't what I wanted to find."

Everyone was stunned as Beerus strolled over to them as Whis dropped the barrier.

Vegeta swallowed dryly.

This wasn't good.

He and Kakarot were more or less evenly matched when they were both were going all out, it was the fact that Kakarot always seemed to pull ahead enough to make Vegeta push himself that much harder. He hadn't known that Kakarot had been holding back the Kaio-ken at all, and Vegeta remembered it for good reason.

Kakarot busted out the Kaio-ken and that still didn't faze Beerus.

The toll the technique took on the body was substantial for a short-lived power boost and it was far less-efficient than the first Super Saiyan Transformation. Kakarot may have been able to refine it like those Time Patrollers stranded in their timeline, but even then it made little difference in the outcome of the bout.

"I suppose then that one of you saiyans or are the Super Saiyan God that I am seeking." Beerus remarked as he looked over the assembled Z-fighters, "Perhaps even one of you half-saiyans are possible candidates."

Kurai flew over to Goku and laid a hand on his chest, casting his healing technique, eyes locked on the God of Destruction.

Goku felt his pain lessen until he was just sore and sat up with a groan, with him being so utterly beaten, he knew no one was capable of stopping Beerus if his mood soured.

Beerus frown deepened, and his aura began to leak out of him, "Perhaps you all require some motivation? Perhaps destroying the planet will drive one of you to access that power?"

"Wait!" Goku called, "We can find the Super Saiyan God! We just need to collect the dragon balls!"

Beerus' ki faded, "Oh?"

"Shenron can tell us how to find it." Goku said as he flew over, "I am sure of it."

Vegeta nodded, "We just need a day."

Kurai blinked and a sly smile came onto his face, "Why not try some Earth cuisine? We have some of the best food around."

Now THAT caught Beerus and Whis' attention.
