If you still want to read the one shot "Snake Attack", it's on A03
Chapter 1
The sounds of the waves lapping the shores of the beach were music to her ears. Before the sunrise, being at the beach was a peaceful moment for Mira before the chaos ensue. What chaos? The waking of civilisation!
Mira sighed, bringing her knees close to her chest. The sea and river have always been a place of solace, away from the ever-busy city that was about to wake up soon. Mira closed her eyes, focusing on nothing but the sounds of the waves. It's been so long since she had ever been so close to the sea.
She had a month to enjoy this moment.
One month and then it's back to the plane and into the world of books, labs and exams. Although her sister, Rani, insisted that she could bunk into the guest room, Mira politely declined the offer. She doesn't want to burden her sister since she and Mr. Snake were 'busy' most of the time...
Then again, being away from her family gave her a sense of freedom. She does loved them but she doesn't want to be chained to them forever. Not since their mother had disowned Rani for life. She was tired of hearing her tirade about how 'Rani was the evil since the day she was born' and all the other bullshit.
She felt bad being out here all alone when her father was helplessly enduring her mother's anger while her siblings may or may not pick up a few things. Checking her watch, it was a minute to 7 a.m.
Deciding to get herself breakfast, Mira approached a diner. When she entered, she stopped dead in her tracks when her eyes spotted a familiar face at table. She lowered her head, hoping no one noticed her. She wished she had a hoodie to cover her face since the person at the table wasn't alone.
"Hey, Mira!" it was none other than her older sister, Rani. Besides her was the muscular police chief, the snake in the red Hawaiian shirt that's supposed to be Rani's husband and...
"You're up early, chica!" the green piranha commented, "I mean it's good. You have time to do something you want, right?" Mira answered him with a shy nod. A small space was made between him and...
"Aww, don't worry about us," the great white shark assured her. "We don't bite. Wanna join us for breakfast?"
Mira was hesitant because she doesn't know anyone except her sister. Ever since their mother disowned her, she banned everyone from contacting her by any means. Although, their father had found ways for the both of them to meet up.
That was how Mira got the news of her sister's private marriage and...
'I still can't believed that my brother-in-law is a snake,' Mira thought with disbelief. Despite that, she accepted the marriage because she had never seen her sister this happy. Reluctantly, she sat next to Rani, a bit shy to talk to the others at the table.
"Don't worry about the bill," Rani assured her. "I'm paying for breakfast."
"What are you talking about, Rani?" the police chief asked. "I'll pay!"
Mira watched as her sister raised both of her hands to surrender. It never ceased to amazed her on how Rani got along well with the scariest police chief and these animals that used the be well-known criminals. Except...
She would be lying if she doesn't find Mr. Shark and Mr. Piranha interesting.
While Rani ordered what she whispered into her ear, both of Mira's hands were on her lap while her head lowered down. Clearly, she was still getting used to the fact that she's sitting between her sister and her brother-in-law. While others have resumed their chatters, Mira felt something smooth on top of her hand.
It was a brochure of the country of Thailand.
She glanced at Mr. Snake, who nodded. "Something to distract you from this besides your phone?"
Mira smiled, feeling relieved. Soon after the breakfast, Mira gestured her sister that she was about to leave. Rani's smile fell. "Aww, you're not staying? Okay, text me if you need anything, alright?"
The younger woman nodded, giving the others an apologetic smile before leaving.
...
"Did...did we do something wrong?" Mr. Shark asked Rani slowly. Rani shook her head, patting the great white shark on his fin. "No, you didn't do anything wrong. Mira has always been shy. Even around our relatives, she has always been quiet."
"I thought we scared her," Mr. Piranha sighed, munching his plate of pancakes with gusto. The piranha was clearly upset about Mira's quiet demeanour. "I don't blame her since we were the Bad Guys."
Mr. Snake simply sipped his mug of coffee. "If we were still the Bad Guys, everyone here would be running away and ol' chief here would've cuff us behind bars. Am I right?"
"Damn right you are!" Chief Luggins huffed proudly. "Though I can see the resemblance between you and her, Rani. Except..."
Rani laughed, wiping her lips with the napkin. "More slender and the apple of my parents' eye. She's an excellent swimmer, smarter and I still remember my mother parading her around at every party when we were kids. I swear, she sometimes dressed her up like a doll."
Their table was silent, minus the whirring sounds from the ceiling fan. Rani continued, "I still love her as she is still my sister despite how much my mother clearly wants to pit all of us against each other. But now she's back home for a month before her next semester at the university."
Mr. Shark began to finish his food with one gulp. "So, what's she studying?"
"Ichthyology."
Judging from the expressions of Mr. Piranha and Mr. Shark, Rani turned to face her Eastern brown snake husband. His expression mirrored hers with a mischievous smirk, eyebrows waggled. "Hubert, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Mr. Snake let out a sinister chuckle, wrapping half of his length around her waist as a hug. "Hook, line, sinker, sugar dumpling~"
Rani gave him a small peck on the lips, earning a dramatic gag from the opposite side of the table. "Hey, what are you two planning behind your canoodling? Better not be something suspicious! I can tell!"
Yes, this is the sequel to "Charmed" but with Rani's sister! Don't worry, we'll have cute moments, creepy moments and some intriguing moments.
And yes, Rani's married
