A Mistake Beyond Measure
The Demon Lord Lilith was close to completing her objective. The Order of the Chief God had been diminished to the point that they were no longer a threat. The human nations all have nearly fell to her rule and by this point, it was only a matter of time before she finally unite humanity and Mamono.
But Druella, her Fourth Born, had been making it hard for her to complete her objective.
First off, Druella's way of unition was the complete opposite of what Lilith had envisioned: forcing her will into humanity and have them at their mercy. That wasn't what Lilith wanted, she wanted humanity to understand them and submit themselves to her willingly, by their own choices. Resistance was expected of course, and even to this day, humanity still persists to fight against what was inevitable. Still, that shouldn't be the reason for Druella to just terrorize countries and force them to bend to their will!
That was tyranny, the same one as the...previous Demon Lord.
At this point, Lilith is considering on punishing Druella should she terrorize any other country again, well, one of them as the last bastion of humanity situated near the land's end, Albinford. A small country and the last of humanity, the final straw. Of course, the process has been slow as Lilith wanted to make the last of humanity that they have nothing to be scared for. After that, they'll all finally unite and her lifelong dream of ultimate peace will be realized.
Finally, she will be able to put all of her focus on making the Mamono to be able to give birth to malekind. That would solve the most prominent problem or flaw of this ambition of hers. But so far, her research came up to zero. And the Mamono currently dwarfs the number of Incubi available under her rule. This might be dangerous if it continues on so she needed to make it work somehow.
Currently, Lilith was overwatching the Royal Makai from high up in her castle. It had expanded so much from when she first began she actually felt proud of it. With her husband to boot, this was all done by their efforts.
"Mother?" Lilith snapped from her thoughts as one of her daughters–the youngest one–called her.
"Anna, dear. Is something the matter?" Lilith replied with a loving smile.
Anna, seeing her smile, beamed and went towards while looking excited. "Mother, I have something to tell you! It's very important!" Too excited.
"Yes, dear." Alas, as a mother, she complied. "What is it that you wanted to tell me?"
"Mother, since we've nearing completing your dream, you've been working hard on solving the problem with Mamono giving birth to malekind, right?" Lilith raises her eyebrows and nodded, did she...? "I have another solution for you!"
"Oh?" A smile–one anyone close enough to the Demon Lord would familiar with–crawled up to her face. "I'm interested, go on."
"So, you see..." Anna took out a book and showed it to Lilith. "I have found a way to create a portal to another world!"
That surprised Lilith, a portal to another world? How could've Anna-
"The Chief God..." Lilith remembered.
"Correct!" Luxure puffs out her chest in pride. "The previous Chief God had once summoned a Hero from another world."
The previous Chief God which is actually the first one before the new one took over had immense power. Compared to the new one, the previous Chief God was much more powerful and was feared even by the previous Demon Lords. Lilith heard of him but never knew of his power, but from the magic circle alone...even she herself wouldn't be able to power it up.
This was why the first and only Hero summoned into the world was formidable. Even though he came in weak, he grew stronger as time went by that his power dwarfed all the Demon Lords. It was good that he was the only Hero summoned because if the current Chief God were to summon...it would be a disaster. Otherworlders have always held immense potential.
Not that she could summon even at her peak.
"Of course...how didn't I think of it before?" Lilith shook her head. "Still, you are well aware of the amount of mana it would take to create that portal right?"
"Yes, mother." She replied before opening her book. "However, if my theory is correct, then I could use a small amount of my mana to open a small portal to a space filled with mana and use that to open up another portal!"
Lilith blinked, before she smiled. "Ah, I see." It was a theory, and the fact that Anna thought such convenient workaround would work is...funny, to say the least. "Hm, since it's a theory, I supposed you haven't tested it yet?"
Anna halted as if she was turned into a statue, her mother waa right. It was a theory still and there were no guarantees that it would work. She needed to test on it first.
"Um...I'll go ahead and test it!" Anna exclaimed as she ran away, embarrassed.
Lilith shook her head but nevertheless, smiled. "Well, looks like I still have to make that plan work..."
Anna read the book, she had jolted down many things in it on how to open up a portal to another world. She had conducted so many research to go back, she literally went all around the world just so she could craft a spell that potential would help the Demon Lord and the flaw in her plans. Still, it was idiotic of her to just show up and have her mother listen to her suggestion on how to fix that flaw when she herself doesn't even know it would work.
Yes, even if the "theory" she crafted had all evidently formulas and actual experimentations done prior to her research backing it up. If they all work together, then she should have overcome the problem of the insanely huge mana consumption requirement.
But she did noticed somethng strange from the researches she got.
As she said, she could open up a small portal that leads to a space filled with mana. However, the "small" amount it requires was too small, as it actually just used to start a circle since the mana used to actually open that small portal apparently came from that space filled with mana. Ancient script says that in actuality, that space only had one small flame in it that contains a huge amount of mana. "Abyssal Flame" was what it was called.
And it apparently is a bridge to open up a portal to a world called "Terraria".
But strangely enough, the other ancient scripts were torn off, destroyed and was replaced with-
"DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THIS PORTAL"
"OR FACE THE WRATH OF CALAMITY"
It was weird for sure and while the warning is appreciated, they were Lilims. The most powerful of the Mamono who even made the Chief God went into coma! Anna wouldn't have a hard time dealing with whatever was on the other side.
Initially, she also found some hints regarding this world. Something about ancient dragons and...Auric Souls? It was definitely interesting but what was more interesting is the fact that the world is filled with powerful warriors. That got her attention, she had been wanting a husband for quite sometime now.
After Druella conquered Lescatie, Anna was left alone wandering the halls of the Castle Makai in search of a purpose. And now, she finally has one!
That got her excited.
"Let's see here..." Anna was in the roof of the castle, flipping the pages of the book to find the chants used to create the portal. "Ah, here it is." She smiled and raised her hand in the sky.
"Hear me, legends of old. Heed me, ancient dragons. Obey me, monsters of terror. Come to me, slayer of horros. I call upon you who overcome, who conquers, who builds, who fights and who slays into this world. Liberate us from the plagues that poisoned this world. Save us from the evil that shadows this world! I call for you!"
"Terrarian of Calamity!"
She opened her eyes, her whole being shaking in fear. No, this isn't right. She wasn't supposed to be awaken at this moment, something happened and it's nothing good. The last time it happened was...
"No, he's gone. He couldn't summon anymore so there is no way..."
Then she felt it.
The foreboding sense of dread.
The overwhelming pressure.
This undeniable presence that she can't feel.
And the endless stream of mana pouring out of it.
The other gods most likely took notice as well, especially her other counterpart; the Fallen God.
She, the Chief God, can only say one thing. "We are doomed."
"..." Anna waited in anticipation.
The magic circle was activated so why didn't the portal appear?
Then Anna slump her shoulders. "So it's a failure after all..." She sighs. "Oh well, just research more I guess." She flip through the pages. "This was the hardest one to summon anyway. There's more here it seems...hm, the Arisen? Chosen Undead? A...Wolf? Bearer of the Curse and...Ashen One? The Tarnished...Saltborn? Seems like the further I go it gets even more ridiculous." She closed the book before going back inside the Castle Makai. "I'll try finding out more and try to open it one more time."
As Anna went to go inside, Lilith and by extension, her husband Artor, felt something. Lilith was practically sweating as what she felt brings her back to when she was just a mere slave to the previous Demon Lord. It made her feel small and she didn't like it. This feeling bothered her greatly.
"Artor, I'll have the elites scout out." Lilith said with authority, it's been a while since he saw her like this.
"Of course. Shall I accompany them?" Artor asked.
"No." Came her immediate response. "We...we are not sure what we're dealing with. It's best we gain information first..."
"I see." Artor replied, serious.
Just then, the feeling completely disappeared. Instead of feeling relieved, Lilith's breathing became more erratic as the fear was apparent on her face. This feeling...this primal fear of the unknown, something she hasn't felt after she took over as the new Demon Lord, it was overwhelming.
"Lilith!? Is everything okay!?" Artor exclaimed in concern as he went and hold her shoulders in attempt to reassure her.
"No, we have a problem." She swallowed, her teeth clattering with one another. "Cancel the elites scout, I'm summoning all the monsters for this."
Artor was shocked, "Is...this thing that much of a threat?"
Lilith turned to her husband and frowned, "Yes. very much so."
Gods.
All slain.
In his endeavor to search for more to kill, he came upon the old gods, Noxus, Goozma and more. He dubbed it, "Hunt for the Old Gods". But after he slain them all, there were no gods anymore. Simply weaker beings incapable of even putting a dent on his being.
Disappointment, unsatisfied, frustrated.
His kind lusts for things to slay, to kill and to become stronger using the carcasses of the fallen beings they've slain. But nothing else needed to be conquered. There was nothing to kill, nothing to...enjoy.
Empty.
That's what he felt.
But a portal opened up, one that lead him here.
And he felt it.
Presences of gods.
Lots of them.
A smile crept up to his face.
He finally has something to relish in again.
Hunt for the Other Gods.
So I was bored, and then read an MGE fic about what if they were to invade our Earth. So many possibilities, so many...politics. And that gave me an idea, what if instead of us getting invade, MGE is the one?
Yeah, nothing original here.
We already got like, what, six of these types of fanfics? We got Good Hunter, Ashen One, Tarnished, Wolf and other SoulsBorne protagonist getting into the ridiculous world of MGE. But hey, I enjoyed them. And you do too, right?
That's all that matters.
