"Did you hear?"
"Hear what?"
Midnight in Vale was particularly silent. On the cusp of spring, the streets were hazed over with fog. In the dead of night, on the outskirts of the city within the confines of a warehouse, the Vale branch of the White Fang organization went about their new return after being employed by one Roman Torchwick. They were particularly distasteful of the flamboyant human, but he had loads of resources, resources they could use to further their goals of equality for the Faunus. They held their tongue, and followed his orders, even if they bordered racist.
Two men, a rabbit Faunus and dog Faunus, donning the standard White Fang grunt uniform, were moving crates filled to the brim with Dust. Over the past few months, they'd been stealing pounds of Dust from various shops around the city of Vale. They were not given the specifics of why they were gathering so much Dust, but it was obviously for something big. But they were just grunts. They only followed orders.
"Apparently, there's this stray armored huntsman lurking around Vale. Been busting White Fang operations for the past month, and dropping us off to the police, half the Dust shipments were returned to SDC property. It's got that Torchwick guy in a tizzy." Grunt One let out a huff as he placed one of the crates into the shipment container. "That's why everything's being sped up. Apparently we're gonna be heading out of Vale, ship this stuff on over to the Mistral branch, and lay low for a while before setting up territory again."
"Seriously?" Grunt Two murmured incredulously. It wasn't visible because of his mask, but he raised a brow. "One guy has got us kicking things into high gear? You sure it wasn't misinformation, and not a group of huntsman?"
"Nah. We've got eyes and ears all around Vale. Plus, there's been multiple reports on the news. People callin' him a vigilante." Grunt One folded his arms, frowning. "Calls himself Saiyaman."
"Saiyaman? What kind of name is that?"
"I dunno. But he's pretty strong. Got everybody in a frenzy. All I know is that I don't wanna deal with the guy if I have too." Grunt One sighed, his head dropping. "Worst part? Word going around is, he's a Faunus."
Grunt Two's eyes widened in surprise. "What?! Are you serious?!"
Grunt One grimaced. "Yeah. He's been gaining lotta revenue lately... one thing is for sure. I don't wanna deal with that guy if I don't have to."
Grunt Two slowly nodded. "Yeah... I get what you mean, there. But a Faunus? I woulda thought..."
"Let's be honest with ourselves, man." Grunt One sighed. "We aren't exactly in the right here. I want for us to have equality as much as the next guy, but this is just insane."
"Feel that..."
Their enhanced senses picked up on rapid commotion near instantly. There were muffled screams and sounds of bullet fire coming from outside. Grunt One and Two tensed and reached for their rifles. Several other White Fang members within the warehouse readied their own weapons as the doors burst open. Weapons were raised, but nothing.
A thick cloud of fog obscured their vision. As they peered through the dense cloud, a body of an unconscious grunt sailed right over their heads and into a pile of crates. They didn't dare move, keeping their targets locked on the fog. The sound of thumping footsteps was deafening, and a figure stepped through the cloud of mist, their slow, methodical footsteps loud and thunderous.
They were considerably tall, with a lithe, muscular build. Wearing a black undersuit, with white metallic boots with gold accents and green armor thrown on top, and white gauntlets. The one on the right holding a series of buttons, and golden button embedded in the center of the fist. He orange helmet with a black visor and yellow LED lights for eyes. A long flowing crimson cape hung over his shoulders, flapping in the wind.
The most striking feature about him, however... was the armored tail that swung behind him.
Silence rang, and the armored warrior chuckled before striking a unique pose, thrusting his arms to the side.
"Prepare yourself, White Fang! FOR YOU ARE IN THE PRESENCE OF A WARRIOR OF JUSTICE!"
He dashed in place, striking several more poses that left the White Fang befuddled. "Moving at the speed of light, stopping all crime! A hero to the people! Who am I?"
"I AM THE GREAT SAIYAMAN!"
...
The men and women looked amongst themselves before raising their weapons.
"OPEN FIRE!"
Bullets cut through the air; but Saiyaman was far faster than they'd anticipated.
"Fighting it is! You all never learn, do you?!" he laughed boisterously, raising a hand to the sword sheathed on his back and gripping the hilt. The guard lit up with a mechanical hum, letting out a rock symphony.
[SAIYASABER!]
"Let's dance!"
Saiyaman rushed forward faster than the bullets themselves. Metal sung as he unsheathed his sword and cut through the bullets like a hot knife through butter. He twirled and flipped through the air, descending upon a White Fang grunt with a flying dropkick and following up with a downward slash towards another. He began to blur through the group with powerful strikes, forcing them all to spread out.
As those who carried rifles backed up and acted as ranged support, those with close ranged weapons charged forward with valiant battle cries. Saiyaman weaved around sword slashes and bat swings, parrying strikes with his blade and retaliating with a swing, using the blunt side to send them flying across the warehouse. He bent backwards in a surprising showcase of flexibility as bullets and blades soared overhead.
"You could have all gotten respectable jobs! Perhaps a baker! A policeman!" Saiyaman jested as he weaved through gunfire and sword slashes. "Perhaps a bartender!"
Flicking their sword into the air and dropping to the floor, Saiyaman pushed his hands against the cold surface and twisted his body, performing a kick-flip and smoothly transitioning into a spin-kick that sent another group of grunts flying. He caught their sword in one hand and flipped his Saiyasaber into a reverse grip.
Another grunt scrambled towards one of their weapons crates and pulled out a bazooka. Loading it up with a missile, they hastily fired. Suddenly, Saiyaman swerved out of the way with grace and a shuffle of his feet. The missile sailed past and exploded against the containers that held Dust. All remaining fighters scrambled to their feet as a chain reaction was set off. Pounds of Dust ignited and set off an explosion that engulfed the entire warehouse.
The ground trembled and debris and melted asphalt were sent flying. Hot shrapnel dug into the concrete, and many of the White Fang were rendered unconscious. Their Auras having shattered, but protected them from the explosion beforehand. Only a good dozen remained conscious, with Grunt One and Two slowly gathering their bearings.
"S-Shit... those idiots." Grunt One groaned, his head throbbing as though he'd experienced a deadly hangover. "All that Dust gone to waste... Boss is gonna kill us...!"
"Not if he doesn't kill us first!" Grunt Two hissed in panic, raising his rifle.
Through the smoldering heat waves, smoke cloud, and fire, stood Saiyaman's silhouette. His sword hung lazily over their shoulder as they walked through the flames as though they'd never took any damage from the blast in the first place--the armor they donned must have been durable to survive such a powerful explosion. The grunts trembled in fear and trepidation.
"Kill you? HAH! Good joke, bud. You realize I'm the good guy, right?" Saiyaman quipped, tilting his head to the side. "Your bosses on the other hand? Yeah... raincheck. But hey, you'll be safe behind bars!"
Some dropped their weapons and made a break for it.
Saiyaman sighed. "They always try 'ta run. Don't they know that never works?"
They didn't get far.
Saiyaman dug his feet into the ground and blurred with swift movement, crashing into the back of a grunt with a flying kick and driving another into the pavement with a swing of his sword, utilizing the flat side to avoid serious harm. The rest opened fire, and Saiyaman twirled his sword with expertise, deflecting and slashing apart the bullets with fluid strikes.
The blade shone with energy, burning like a kindling flame. Saiyaman twisted his body with a twirl, building up momentum and lashing out with a heavy downward slash. A condensed wave of energy erupted from the blade and crashed against the group of grunts, knocking them away and shattering their Aura in a single attack.
He eased his stance, twirling his sword with floruish and resting it over his shoulder.
"And that's that!" Saiyaman said triumphantly. "Never underestimate a Warrior of--huh?"
Saiyaman's senses blared and his ears perked up at the sound of a revving blade. They turned to see a larger White Fang member, with muscular arms the size of tree trunks, holding a chainsaw-sword combination in his large hands.
"The Great Saiyaman," the large Faunus muttered with acidic venom that would have made the armored vigilante cringe. "I've been waiting to cave your skull in. A filthy traitor like you deserves to be put in the dirt. Putting my men in the ground just gives me all the more reason!"
Saiyaman blinked, glancing down towards his armored tail, then at the Lieutenant. "Traitor? I was never part of the White Fang to begin with, dude."
The White Fang Lieutenant said nothing as he stared Saiyaman down in tense silence before rocketing forward. Saiyaman blinked in surprise as steel clashed and sparks flew. He grunted in surprise at the Lieutenant's surpising physical strength and shuffled back as the man roared and pushed against his sword.
Saiyaman shifted back some more and swatted the large chainsaw-blade to the side, throwing off his moment. Then, he ducked low and swept the man off his feet with a clean leg sweep. Saiyaman stabbed their sword into the ground and hurled themselves up, using their weapon as leverage to spin around and deliver a kick to the Lieutenant's stomach.
The Lieutenant slid back and dug their sword into the ground, growling in frustration. With a pull of the trigger, the blades revved up and kicked up debris. His Aura shined with a ferocious roar, rended their blade from the earth with ludicrous strength. The ground ruptured and split apart, a violent shockwave rippling through the ground and smashing into Saiyaman, sending them flying through the air and tumbling across the ground.
"WOAH-HOH-HOH-HOH!" Saiyaman yelped as he rolled to his feet. "Okay, didn't expect that!"
Saiyaman snapped to attention as the Lieutenant lunged at him. He manuevered around a stab with a nimble flip, landing behind the larger man and gripping his sword in a reverse grip, while holding out his other arm.
"Let's kick things up a notch, then!" Saiyaman grinned under his helmet.
[SAIYABUSTER!]
His armored arm shifted as gears whirred and the mechanisms inside clicked into place, shifting apart forming into a large, sleek buster cannon. The Lieutenant whirled around just in time for Saiyaman to aim his Saiyabuster at the large Faunus and fire off s dense blast of energy at him point-blank.
The Lieutenant flew back from the blast, his Aura flickering as he grunted in surprise. What the hell?! he flipped through the air with surprising manuverability and raised his chainsaw-sword just as Saiyaman came down with a downward slash.
As the Lieutenant's blocked his next strike, Saiyaman pivoted over the man and slashed at his back. He whirled around with a wild swing, but Saiyaman ducked low and aimed his Saiyabuster, swinging it in an upward arc and firing off a powerful explosive burst of energy.
As the Lieutenant was launched into the air, Saiyaman shifted his feet, he dismissed his Saiyabuster and tapped a button on his gauntlet. "Let's finish this!"
[ARE YOU READY?!]
Saiyaman grunted and launched himself in the air, performing several flashy flips as he passed the Lieutenant and ascending into the skies. The shattered moon's light illuminated his form, as a veil of energy began to encompass the armored hero, coalescing around his outstretched leg in an aura of fiery white.
"TAKE THIS!"
[ULTRA~ FINISH!]
"SAIYAAAAAAAAAAAAA-KICK!"
BOOM!
The air exploded with powerful concussive shockwaves as Saiyaman's leg slammed into the Lieutenant's body with the force and power of a speeding bullet! The Lieutenant's body crashed back down against the ground and formed a massive crater with his descent. Saiyaman dropped to the ground in a signature superhero landing before rising to his feet.
He stared on as the smoke cleared, and the Lieutenant's Aura shattered. Yet the man still pushed himself up with struggle.
"Your fighting spirit is commendable, but it's best you give up. You've lost." Saiyaman crossed his arms.
The two stared at each other in silence, neither moving a muscle.
They perked up at the sound of blaring sirens. Red and blue lights illuminating the destroyed district. Saiyaman turned towards the source to see the police speeding ahead. He turned and blinked in surprise when the Lieutenant had mysteriously vanished without a trace.
"Aw, what the hell?! He was right there! No way in hell someone that freaking big just vanishes!" the vigilante grumbled as he sheathed his sword and growled. "Damn..."
Clicking his tongue in frustration, he quickly went ahead and gathered all the unconscious White Fang grunts. Noticing the sirens growing closer, Saiyaman hurried up and backed away, silently slinking into the shadows.
As the police arrived to the scene, many were shocked to see the ongoing fire and tied up White Fang. Orders were issued to take them into custody and questioning. A blonde haired officer stepped forward to one of the tied up grunts and noticed a note stuck to the rope. He plucked it off and read it.
Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Saiyaman! XP.
The officer let out an exasperated sigh.
"Not again..."
Up high, on top of one of the untouched warehouses, Saiyaman watched the investigation in silence, the moon illuminating his mysterious form and casting a shadow overhead. They spun on his heel, his cape flapping in the wind, before he dashed off into the night.
Just a neat idea I wanted to write out. Thought it'd be pretty cool!
Plus. Haven't seen anyone go this particulae route. Let's see where it goes!
Also yes. There is blatant Kamen Rider references and inspiration here. Bite me.
