Tom has visited Madeline's house, mainly to give her children his handmade wooden toys as a gift. But ended up staying a bit longer and playing with them and was seated with Madeline by her porch.

"Ah, this old bone can't keep up with those energetic kids anymore. But it's nice to hear them call me 'Uncle Tom' to make me think that I'm still young and kicking."

"Ha, you sure like to pester on about your age, Tom. That 'old bone' of yours doesn't seem to hold you back from keeping up with my kids or doing your woodwork projects at home."

"Hey now, you've seen me at my prime. It's hard not to miss the days of your youth when age is holding you back. I could've made something even more awesome for your kids at my prime."

"Oh no, I'm grateful even for those toys you gave, Tom. The kids are having fun with them even now. Especially if their father can't be with them right now…"

"About that…Have you heard back from your husband yet?"

"About a month ago. Seems he still wants to make more money before returning home. But I'd rather he come back sooner for the sake of kids."

"Seth went off to work to gather enough money for Matt's lifetime worth of prosthetic leg replacement, right? I can understand to some extent why he's doing what he's doing for his son."

"But does he understand his son's feeling of his absence though? You can't expect children to fully comprehend a parent's intent. Seth used to play with them a lot, but with him gone, they can't enjoy a time together with him, and are constantly looking for someone else to spend time with." Madeline sighed. "I can understand the immense guilt he felt back that day…During camping, a mini-landslide occurred, and a boulder pressed on Matt's leg for too long that his leg has died from lack of circulation, and so had to be amputated. I hope that one day, Seth learns to let his regrets go, and understand that what our kids need most is his presence…"

A knock was heard from Madeline's door. Henry was there to deliver the prosthetic leg for Matt in future when he reached 10. "Hello Madeline, here's the leg for Matt when he turns 10."

"Many thanks, Henry. Say thank you to Rory for me too, will you?"

"Absolutely. You know, I could cover part of the cost for you next time. I feel bad for making you pay big money for the sake of your kid. Then it means your husband comes back sooner, right?"

"Is that really okay with you? You're too kind Henry."

"Don't mention it, Madeline."

"A little off topic here, but do you know what Euler has been up to, Henry?" Tom asked.

"Sadly, I don't know. My dad says ever since he saw him do an 'unsettling' laugh after…what's her name? Mrs. Davis made him out to be a bad guy, he never heard back from Euler ever. Who knows? Maybe he got crazy now."

"Huh. Being backstabbed through slander and lies twice…I know that feeling well. If I nearly lost it when that happened to me, I can't imagine what it would do to that boy." Tom said.

"Now, Violet has been extra upset lately. I don't really know how to comfort her when all of what happened to Euler is absurd and out of our control." Madeline said.

Henry sighed. "Yeah, crazy world we live in right now."

Violet was by Mrs. Rhodanthe's office, wanting to talk about the recent events that occurred regarding Euler and his typewriter patent. "Hm, I certainly didn't expect to hear you opposing Mrs. Davis' action towards Euler today. Then tell me; is there a reason you're against Mrs. Davis' viewpoint, Violet?"

"With all due respect, Mrs. Rhodanthe, I acknowledge Mrs. Davis' work for the doll industry that allowed me to be here, and I know that you have a high opinion of her. Yet with that being said, I firmly believe it is unfair for her to slander Euler like that. I…I know him well to not mean to anyone when he invents new product. He already suffered enough when he couldn't save his master, so why should he suffer again?" Violet said.

"So then, you care that much about the client that you've worked for. I've never seen a case of a doll that went this far for the well-being of their client. You know that you aren't obligated to, so why are you particularly concerned for Euler, Violet?"

Violet looked down. "As a veteran, it may seem improper in your eyes for a doll to do this, but I'm still looking for Major, and upon hearing about his master, I sympathized with him, so much so that I treated it as if I'm saving Major from death. In between works, I've insighted him on human emotions because he lacked understanding of such things, and in the process…I guess I've come to care about him as a friend would. If…If this was not right thing to do as a doll, then I apologize for such behavior."

"I won't so much as to say that what you did was wrong, Violet. Yet I'll advise you to not be held up by Euler anymore."

"What do you mean?"

"All dolls know that we are only interpreting and delivering our client's feeling to the paper. Yet we don't interfere in the affairs of feelings of anyone. Violet, you've said that you care about other's feelings before. You care about Euler's feelings certainly, but what about the public's feelings that fear or abhor him?"

Violet paused and thought for a while. "Their feelings…But aren't they unfounded because of the lies?"

"But do you feel confident in yourself to convince them to feel otherwise?"

"…No, I wouldn't. Not without evidence…"

"Such is the nature of conflict between feelings, Violet. I myself have worked for clients that had…rather unpleasant emotions to write down in the paper. It is best to keep our hands clean of the affairs related to our client's feelings rather than complicate the matter by our interference. This in fact, is the reason Mrs. Davis called us the 'dolls', for we aren't arbiters of feelings, but mere deliverers of them."

"To let go of Euler…It's hard to accept this, Mrs. Rhodanthe. Not after what had happened to him."

"I won't press you to understand this in a matter of seconds. Perhaps as experience and time passes, you'll comprehend what I've said here. Just know that I want to spare you of any sorrows or troubles of getting emotionally invested into your previous client."

Violet nodded, though still had a hard time accepting what was said by her. "I…want to ask one last question…"

"Go on."

"Do you stand with Mrs. Davis on what has happened?"

Mrs. Rhodanthe stayed quiet for a while. "What a difficult question you ask, Violet. All I will say is that I wish to believe that what Mrs. Davis stands for is right. I hope you won't think of me less or even resent me for saying such thing."

"No, perhaps it was not right for me to put you on spot like that…Maybe I'm asking too much from you today."

"Don't think that way, Violet. I trust that you wouldn't let the conversation we had now deter our relationship now. Now then, why don't you go clear your head? Perhaps things may become clearer for you."

Violet nodded, then headed outside the training school. As she slowly walked back home, she thought about what Mrs. Rhodanthe has said. At first, Violet wished to reject the concept of being a doll; only a mere deliverer of the client's feelings on paper, and nothing more. Otherwise, how could she have helped previous clients like Princess Charlotte, or Oscar Webster, or Leon to come to terms with their own feelings at her job?

But Violet remembered that at those times, she had helped them in the process of doing her work there. After her work was done with them, she did not reach back to them out at her own initiative. Euler was different, however. The intention to help was the same, but now she was doing so outside of her work, not to mention the passion to help him was especially stronger as well.

And now where did that lead to? Unlike past times, Euler was met with failure, which made Violet upset. Then when she sent a letter of encouragement to him, he was met with yet another failure as a result of Mrs. Davis' action. Violet admitted to herself that she was angry with Mrs. Davis, and had it not been for a kindness of Mrs. Rhodanthe, Violet's conversation with her would've ended unpleasantly as well.

Violet's hand trembled. "Could I…Could I be the blame for all of this? If I hadn't sent him that letter, maybe he wouldn't have patented that typewriter and be spared from yet another failure…I want to believe that I did the right thing all this time, but…have I possibly ruined a life of one I care about by acting improperly as a doll?" Such an idea put fear into Violet, and she went home with tears in her eyes.

At this time, Euler was at his house, not making much contact with outside world anymore aside from making transactions to buy what he needed. After he resigned from the university, his house was filled with lab equipment, since there wasn't enough room to put them in his workshop. Here, he was making his first step towards his plan to make himself the "hero" of Leidenschaftlich and sell his breakthroughs again.

Under a microscope, he investigated blood samples of a mouse that had been exposed to radiation as well as chemical products. "The color looks good. The darker tone of red is a sign of having a variant of a hemoglobin. Now, to bring this blood back to its owner…"

After the mouse was given its mutated blood back, the mouse was observed for an entire day. Euler observed that it didn't touch its food for a whole day, though he noticed increased water consumption from the mouse. "Looks like the experiment worked as intended, then." Euler said to himself. "I may have a large sum of money, but I still don't have room to waste it. It is vital for me to get all of these in one try."

In the process of observing the mouse, Euler also has drawn a blueprint of the full suit designed solely for exceptional physical prowess. The suit's materials derived from the prosthetic limbs that he designed a few years ago. However, instead of synthetic muscle imitating a process of a regular muscle, it would have an external source of electrical energy to amplify the synthetic muscle's ability to contract and relax, giving the strength of a superhuman. This was never implemented in a commercial prosthetic limb due to high maintenance cost, but now it was important for Euler.

"Hmph, then where do I place the generator that provides such electrical energy?" Euler asked himself. Euler's pen pointed towards chest area, then to back, then to stomach. "Unfortunately, I don't think I can make it completely invulnerable to external damage. Then the best I can do is spread the generator across my spine and reinforce the armor. I already protect that body part with my life anyway."

He wrote the name "Undying One" above the suit blueprint. "The Undying One shall bring terror to Leidenschaftlich, but I shall be the answer to resist such terror. From then on, I shall become the country's…Anointed One."
