The police and ambulance arrived at the apartment. Medical check up was done on the man and his son, but Violet insisted she was fine and refused to be checked up. The police meanwhile performed investigations while receiving information from Violet and man as well as the residents. After the police was done asking questions, the man was taken into an ambulance. Before he was taken, he spoke up to Violet.

"Hey, I just wanted to say…None of this is your fault, okay? I'm truly grateful for what you've done for us, and that is enough for us."

Violet stood there for a while, but then left the scene without a reply.

"Man, how the hell are we going to explain this to Mr. Pierce?" one of the officer said to another.

After some time passed, Euler returned to his workshop, out of the suit of Undying One, and drank some water. "So much energy must've been consumed from that fight.
My deviant blood cells are doing good work of reducing my food intake, but with increased hydrogen demand to make it possible, I can really feel the impact of increased thirst. Next time, I'll need to make sure to drink lots of water in advance."

Then he thought about Violet's involvement in the last fight. Starting with pure result-oriented view, he remembered that it was impossible to put up an act to police force with Violet around. So, the action he took resulted in disharmony between Violet and police, but his clean escape. Then eventually, the fight in the apartment resulted in his escape while Violet was left with the civilians in the elevator.

"Well, how awfully convenient for me. So in the end, Violet did play some part in failure to take down Undying One. Saves me the trouble of coming up with an excuse why my electromagnetic pistol didn't work this time."

Then as Euler thought of Violet interfering despite being told not to, he had some mixed feelings. On one hand, it infuriated him that Violet kept interfering in his plan of emphasizing only he could defeat Undying One, and so he wanted her to stop. But on the other hand, somehow the notion of killing her for good, to put it in as unbiased perspective as possible, was inconvenient for him.

"…No, it couldn't be because I'm afraid…" he said to himself. "I've taken life before, so why should I assume that it's because I'm afraid?" As Euler thought deeply, he was reminded that Violet still had the mindset of living life for others (which he thought to be naïve and simplistic), and for some reason, people have high admiration for heroes who die fighting for others. If Violet was to die fighting Undying One now, not only people may remember her more for being selfless, thus being a hero, but more importantly, it bothered Euler that Violet would die believing in a mindset of living for others.

Debating and trying to disprove the mindset of living for others was not an option, for not only Euler had no empirical evidence, but by his experience, it was possible for people to stubbornly hold onto certain beliefs in spite of contrary evidence. In short, Euler convinced himself that if Violet still believed in her mindset of living for others, he just didn't want to kill her.

"I can't find a way to silence that mindset of hers." He said to himself. "Wait, no, if no one believes in it though, does it matter if it's true or not? If Violet doesn't believe in that mindset anymore, why should I even bother with validity of the said mindset?" He then rummaged through parts of prosthetic limb parts, and found a signal inhibitor, which prevented electric signal between muscle and synthetic muscle.

Euler smiled and said to himself in a mirror. "May Devouring One be remembered as the burden in a fight against Undying One. As Devouring One is inevitably defeated by Undying One and forgotten, may the world be reminded that Anointed One is their only hope."

Meanwhile, Violet arrived back to CH Postal, with some struggle due to the injuries she suffered, and it was nearly closing time. She didn't bother going back in the building, knowing someone may notice something was wrong. Violet then made her way back to home, hoping to get past the sight of her neighbours.

But Tom, who was working on another carpentry project outside, noticed Violet's walk was lacking in energy, and her expression seemed unpleasant. "Hi Violet, everything alright there?"

"Y-Yes, I'm alright, Tom."

After seeing that her walk was definitely unnatural, Tom approached her. "Violet, are you by any chance hurt?"

"N-No, I swear that I'm fine."

"But your walk is telling me otherwise. I know you are quite a powerhouse Violet, but you still must take any injuries seriously. Please be honest, or this old bone won't be able to rest easy from worry."

Violet sighed, then reluctantly told him all that had happened. She told how she encountered Undying One and went on a long battle with him, and at the end, she has failed to take him down and only ended up hurting the man and herself as Undying One made the elevator plunge down to a floor.

After hearing the story, Tom's expression became upset. "Alright, hop on my back, Violet, we'll get you patched up."

"But I don't want to burden you-"

"Whatever burden I'll have is nothing compared to what you've gone through today. Please sit tight even for the sake of this old bone and others."

Seeing that Tom was insistent, she allowed herself to be carried on his back. Then Tom went to Henry and Madeline, telling them what had happened. Henry proposed that since Rory's Metal is past hours of operation, they meet there to both fix Violet's prosthetic arms as well as apply first aid kit before sending her to hospital. They first checked Violet's arms, which Violet was hiding with her gloves and sleeves, and it was full of scratch marks, damages, and some synthetic muscles were exposed as well. Henry detached Violet's arms and went to separate room to fix her arms with help of Tom, while Madeline stayed with Violet to apply first aid.

"Oh Violet, my heart's breaking seeing you in this state, you know? There are not enough ice packs for me to apply to the bruises you've got on your back." Madeline said.

"I'm sorry…I've not only made you worry, but you're giving your time and efforts that arose from my failure."

"Don't you dare say that, Violet. Around here, we're here for each other without asking anything in return. Tom and Henry constantly help me out with my sons while my husband's away, so it's only right that I help you out as well as your close neighbour, you hear that?"

Violet simply gave no reply.

Madeline checked on Violet's legs, and discovered a bruise on her shin, and long scratch mark on back of her leg, which Violet didn't know she had. "Oh no, you've been walking while bleeding, Violet? Let me disinfect this first…" As Madeline applied disinfectant and wrapped band aid around Violet's leg, Madeline noticed her crying. "What's wrong? Did the disinfectant sting you too much?"

"If only I made better decisions…If only I was a bit stronger, they would've been spared from horror, the pain…"

Madeline hugged Violet. "That's enough, Violet. As far as I'm concerned, I'm glad that you're alive, and you've done more than enough."

After Violet was given fixed prosthetic arms, Tom took her to the hospital. The doctor was quite surprised that despite being in a falling elevator, Violet could move without a sign of broken bones. Though she was given an option to perform more rigorous check on her bones, she refused. Then she returned home, struggling to fall asleep from what had happened.

The next day, the newspaper was published with what had happened. It didn't take long before Claudia got caught up on the story. He went to the table Violet was working, and as soon as Violet saw him, her face was downcast and didn't look up from shame.

"Don't worry, Violet. I'm not about to punish you for anything that's happened yesterday." Claudia began. "I wish to understand however, your reason to fight Undying One. It's not necessarily your responsibility Violet, yet you insist on fighting him. What drives you to do so?"

Violet managed to build up the courage to talk. "I've vowed to never take life as I worked as doll for a long time. Then it translated it to protecting one's life as well. When a woman who was caught by Undying One cried out, I couldn't stand by and watch; because of that, I had to fight him. Yet in the end, I let him get away, only bringing pain and horror to yet another civilian and a boy…In the newspaper, Euler sounded very disappointed about my interference, and perhaps he's right; maybe, just maybe, I'm not competent as he is-"

"Why do you insist on this idea that anything that goes wrong is your fault, Violet? Sometimes things don't go the way we want, and that's the reality! Even in war, we could come up with a sound plan, but still lose because the enemy outwit us! It's not always your fault!"

"In our war, I was the strongest asset of major's army! He, the army, and myself expected much out of me. If anyone can resist Undying One, it's me! Yet if I failed to defeat him for good despite my strength, discipline, and experience, then what does that make me? It was all in my power, but I've squandered it like an incompetent soldier…"

"Violet…"

"There were many chances to take him down, yet he always gets away! The time I convince myself that I have upper hand, he is stronger, and who knows how much stronger he is? On that day, was it a mistake to let him get away to save the woman and her baby? Was it also a mistake for me to chase him and become a nuisance for the police force? Knowing that I've had all the power I need, it feels as if I've wronged so many people and hurt them…"

"Hey, everything alright in here? Is it still good time to ask for a doll?" One client asked. Claudia looked at Violet, at a loss of what to say to her. Seeing that Violet was not in a state to properly serve the client, Claudia allowed Violet to take an early brake and assigned work to other doll working beside Violet.

At a lunchtime, Ivy found Violet. "Hey Violet, everything alright?"

"I'm feeling better now. Sorry about my unprofessional behaviour."

"No need for that. I've heard what happened. I just wanted to say, that don't let that Euler guy bring you down. He's too focused on how things didn't go as planned that he's not giving you enough credit for what you did.:

"What do you mean?"

"Woman named Connor Caulfield, she said you saved her life. Where was he for that? That should count for something, and what about the people trapped with her? You got them out there too. Sure, things may have turned out better, but I think you did more than enough to be able to save lives. Please stop looking at things you couldn't do and look at things you've accomplished."

"Perhaps you have a point there, Ivy. Thanks for your thought, I'll give it some consideration."

"I sure hope you do…"

A week and a half have passed since the last fight with Undying One and Violet. At a distant part of Leiden city, Mara Davis was on her way to home at late night. She paid a special visit to one doll school and talked about how as a doll, Violet was a bad example to follow, using the recent events as a basis. Yet among the students, they still doubted Mara's claim, recalling how Violet saved the peace conference from anti-peace terrorists as well as her saving the lives of patent office employees.

"Huh, that brute girl is still taking the spotlight. When will the young dolls see that such impossibly strong doll who does whatever she pleases is a stain in the doll industry's name?" she said to herself. Suddenly, she heard a metal grinding noise behind her. She turned around but saw no one. "Who's there? This isn't funny you know." As she turned around again, she was startled and fell backward by a large metal figure blocking her path.

"So, you're that doll industry founder woman, huh? Hmph, you don't look too special." Undying One said.

"What do you want? I have nothing of value!" Mara said as she backed off.

"Violet. I bet you know her, don't you? I just want to have a talk with her, that's all. Now, why don't you call her to me? If you don't…" Undying One sharpened his wrist blade, making the grinding noise before. "I'll take you myself until they hand Violet to me…"

Mara turned around and sprinted away. She was immediately caught, and dragged to the alley where people's eye didn't reach too much. "Do you know who I am? I'm Undying One, and not even this country's strongest asset can hope to stop me, not even Euler's stupid gadgets, nor your industry's star, Violet! My demand was plain and simple; bring Violet to me!"

"That's not how it works! And it's not like I'm close to her or anything! Please, do it to someone else, not me!"

"Do you want to be sliced in half? If I don't hear something I want to hear, I could end your life here and now…"

"Got you!" One man said behind.

As Undying One turned around, he was met with man shooting a taser beam at him. He dropped Mara and seemed to become paralyzed. His attempt of speech was mumbled at a pace of paralysis.

"This way!" the man ran with Mara and hid somewhere in the different part of alleyway. A little while later, a metal footstep was heard, with grunts of frustration.

"Where are you? I'm not resting until I find Violet. Even if it means turning over all postal companies and their schools, I will find her…" Undying One's voice was heard.

"This way, officer!" Another man said from distant.

As the officer approached, Undying One was heard jumping up and leaving the scene.

"Thank you so much, you've saved my life."

"You're welcome but give thanks to Mr. Pierce. He gave us an honor of trying out his new gadget against Undying One. He sort of split us up to patrol the possible areas that Undying One may show up, but we didn't expect you to be his target."

"Can you tell me any relevant details, ma'am? Such as his objective of assaulting you?" a police officer asked Mara.

"He said he wanted me to call this doll named Violet, because he supposedly wanted to talk to her for some reason…I suppose he thought I was her boss or something."

"How interesting…What about you? What is that weapon you're carrying?"

"Oh, this is what Mr. Pierce called a 'taser'. It worked to immobilize Undying One. He hired us to test it out." A man replied as he held out a letter signed by Euler.

"Hm, why didn't he give us this first? Oh well, I suppose we'll figure that out later."

The next day, Euler has received a phone call from police, clarifying that he wanted to demonstrate that even a commoner could stop Undying One with his taser. Though police were bewildered at such notion, they thanked Euler for helping to save a civilian and requested for a blueprint of a taser.

After a while, he received yet another phone call. "Hello, Mr. Pierce? This is Mara Davis. I've just received your letter tonight that you wanted to talk to me about something…But first of all, let me thank you for sending those men to save me."

"Heh, don't mention it, Mrs. Davis. You may have a…certain history with me in the past, but it's a good thing that it didn't stop me from saving you, isn't it?"

An awkward silence was present before replying. "…My deepest apologies for that, Mr. Pierce. Please understand that I was merely acting out on my belief of what is the best for the doll industry…"

"Yet it doesn't seem to explain why you didn't bother contacting me first before jumping to conclusion that I was maliciously going to ruin the doll industry with my new invention."

"…Anyway, with all due respect, let's move to the reason why I called you."

"Of course. What I want is to give you a chance to let the public know that Violet is a hinderance to us all, and that simplistic argument of her having 'good' heart for the civilians is hardly an excuse to forgive what she has done."

Mara's uncomfortable feeling suddenly turned to excitement. "You will really do that for me?"

"Absolutely. You are free to add your own idea of how Violet is affecting your doll industry image, or perhaps even how she endangered the doll industry with your recent encounter with Undying One. Wouldn't you say that it's a crime for Violet to trick the public into thinking that she's somehow a hero when all she did was get in our way?"

"…Yes, absolutely. It's good that someone finally gets it."

"Then I assume that it's decided then. Your cooperation is appreciated, Mrs. Davis. I'll contact you sometime again for further details on our plan."

"Excellent, thank you."

When the phone call was finished, Euler chuckled to himself. "My, I do love her squirming under me now that I have all the leverage in this city, and how she suddenly was ready to lick my boots at the notion of becoming a hero…How amusing, I'll never become tired of this."

Euler picked up a signal inhibitor. "Oh, Violet. In this world, it only matters if you are seen as angels against devils, and you will get to feel that yourself. I won't let you die, at least not until you witness how futile your simplistic mindset is…" At the corner of his eyes, he also noticed a letter from a patent office. When he opened it, it was actually a letter from Egon and Mary Pierce, who specially requested it to be sent to Euler. Upon reading it, he threw it away. "Haven't they said that a children's success is the parent's joy? Yet they insist that I'm in an error even with my reputation this high…"
