A day after Claudia has visited the police officer, Violet was at her home, still contemplating about the situation at hand. She was writing a letter to Mrs. Rhodanthe, doing the usual greeting and asking her view about the whole situation herself. Violet initially planned to visit Mrs. Rhodanthe in person, but she felt some shame and fear creep up on her. With how Mrs. Rhodanthe respected Mara Davis, she imagined that the scenario of getting scolded was likely, yet Violet still hoped that by a small chance, Mrs. Rhodanthe would take her side. Violet chose to ask Mrs. Rhodanthe through a letter, because if it comes to the worst scenario, at least Violet wouldn't have to hear the scolding herself.

Now that Violet thought about it, she hadn't been interacting with her co-workers or her neighbors for a while. Whenever she spotted them, she found herself lowering her head and quickly going past them, and should they say hello, she would just greet them back and be on her way. "After what is being said in the public, do they still see me the same way?" Violet said to herself. "I want to know if they do, yet I can't seem to muster the courage to ask them myself…" With no confidence, Violet finished the letter and sealed it to be sent to Mrs. Rhodanthe.

As she lay in her bed, the words of Euler from the newspaper continued to disturb Violet. One side of her told her to stop being a burden to Euler and let him defeat Undying One since she couldn't, but other side of her voiced that Euler was unnecessarily cruel and that he had changed for the worse. As she thought more about it, she gravitated towards the fact that she had wronged Euler somehow for him to act this way. Such thought filled her with sorrow, and quickly went to sleep to escape such thought.

The next day, as Violet was working as usual, one of the workers handed her a letter, saying that it came in just today. Violet checked the sender, and to her surprise, it was Euler. She didn't know what to expect, but she opened it.

Dear Violet,

I've reflected on my actions, and I'm very sorry that I've spoken harshly about you in public, as well as in the past. I've neglected to remember that you live for others, and that was why you've acted the way you acted. Would you do me a favor and meet me at this coordinate on Sunday, 7 pm to discuss a plan? I need your help in defeating Undying One, but please keep it a secret between us, or Undying One may figure it out if it went out to public.

If you can accept my apology, I would be most grateful.

Euler Pierce

Violet's eyes widened at what she had just read. The unexpected letter from Euler filled Violet with relief and hope, and she looked forward to a potential restoration of their relationship and clearing up any misunderstanding.

"Say, that instantly brightened you up, Violet. Can I ask what the letter was about?" Ivy asked.

Violet smiled and replied. "A chance to reconcile with my old friend, and to make up for my shortcomings…"

"I'm glad to hear that. But what do you mean 'shortcoming'? Don't tell me you've been blaming yourself this whole time…"

"Recent publishes have made it difficult to look at it from that perspective, but it doesn't matter now; on Saturday, it will be made alright."

On Sunday, Violet used public transport to go to the mentioned location that Euler proposed. It was quite a distance away from a city, and more within rural area. The taxi got her off on some path, and Violet walked the rest of the way to the location with high expectation and eagerness.

That is, until she saw from a distance the location looked like an old barn that looked abandoned. Violet double checked the coordinate from the letter, and it was indeed a correct location. As much as Violet understood Euler's desire to keep their plan secret, she felt as if this was a bit much. When Violet got closer to the barn, it was unsettling, and Violet was tempted to turn back. But she did not want to throw away the potential chance to reconcile with Euler and formulate a plan to take down Undying One. She opened the old door, and it was dark.

"Um…Euler?" She said. "I'm here now…"

The sun was setting, and it was difficult to make out what was in front of her. Violet walked slowly, and wondered if Euler was not here yet. Suddenly, a lamp turned on at the other end of the barn, and Violet was startled. She saw a hooded figure squatting, and was about to say hi, but the figure was unusually large, akin to-

"Well, we meet again, Violet." Undying One raised his head to reveal his helmet. "Didn't know you to be a gullible type…How desperate are you, really?"

Violet gasped. "You! What have you done to Euler?!"

Undying One stood up. "Did you really think that he'd change his mind somehow to apologize to you or something? No, he won't surrender the power he has now, and you won't understand it until you let go of that stupid, naïve mindset of yours that I used to have."

Violet entered a fighting stance. "You tricked me! I don't know how you managed to find me or forge his writing, but I won't be making mistakes this time! If…If I take you down right now, everything that's happened won't be in vain…"

Undying One chuckled. "Not in vain, you say? Your eyes tell me everything that I need to know: struggling to use your power to fight me and shield them, while the world makes you out to be the problem as much as me. Only a delusional fool would put up with that treatment, so why do you insist on lying to yourself?"

"I…I do this because it's right! I've vowed to never take life, and I'll protect it too! It's not something you, who never cares about how someone feels but yourself, will understand!"

With a cold, arrogant voice, Undying One replied. "If you believe it so much, why don't you prove it to me then?" Undying One entered a fighting stance.

With a battle cry, Violet leaped into action and fiercely fought him. Every strike was a commitment for Violet to take him down, and she pushed her body to the limit she never had before. When Violet thought there was an opening, she threw a punch packed with power.

But unexpectedly, Undying One weaved and dodged it, then grabbing the wrist, he pulled Violet's shoulder to him, and he forcefully connected a signal inhibitor near her shoulder.

Violet's heart sank when she couldn't feel her left arm. The metal prosthetic limb just dangled from her shoulder, not responding to her nerve signals. "What have you done to me?!"

"Reminding you, that you never had a chance to beat me."

Violet still swung at him despite practically losing her arm. Undying One playfully dodged and blocked her attacks before doing the same to her right arm as well. Violet teared up from the defeat she experienced, yet she threw in a roundhouse kick to Undying One but fell. She struggled to get back up on her feet with no arm to assist her. Undying One stomped on her shin and was raising his fist. Violet closed her eyes.

The wrist blade unsheathed and barely touched Violet's neck. Violet slowly opened her eyes to see Undying One's helmet close to hers. "I'm in a mood to talk tonight. You'd best sit tight and listen to me, or this night may be your last."

"What is there to hear about you? A monster…"

"Oh Violet, you hurt me when you judge me by a cover like that. I once was a man with an ideal like yours, yet the truth of this world changed me to who I am now. You're a doll, aren't you? Surely you'll understand the feelings I have once you hear what I have to say."

"Give me one good reason why I should trust anything you say to me right now,"

"I've suffered what you suffer right now and lived in same denial as you. In terms of similarity, you are the closest to me."

"I'm not like you…I refuse to put myself on your level…"

Pretending not to hear her, Undying One stood up and started talking. "15 years before the Great War in Telsis, I've been created as an apex soldier for Galdrik Empire; far smarter and stronger than regular human. But they feared my potential and my rebellion, and I was tossed out. I wandered off to a neighboring country, and I was adopted. My intelligence and strength were a great asset to them, until I was taking all the spotlight from them. One day, they framed me for an accident, making me a devil while they were angels. Seeing I turned into their enemy, I left that country. This cycle repeated, until I realized the truth. Sound familiar?"

Violet recalled the slanders that Euler experienced twice, as well as the situation she was currently in, where she was a thorn in a battle against Undying One, as well as a disgrace to the doll industry. "Perhaps you're right, but it still won't change what is right, and I'm not letting go of it.

Undying One tapped her head, as if mocking her intellect. "Hold on to that ideal all you want, for it won't change the fact that truth is only what the 'angels' say is truth. A few virtue-filled words and twisting of facts, and the mass shall follow the angel. Dr. Han…Euler…Mara Davis…They're all the same…The moment they taste the sweetness of power to become author of truth, they won't let go of it. You know this to be true, Violet. For I'm your most important devil to kill so that you can feel all your pathetic failures to defeat me were worth it, and to tell the public that you're not the enemy. Seeing you stoop so low to accept Euler's help just to defeat me, there's no point in lying to yourself!"

Violet teared up on the spot. "Stop! Stop!"

"But you don't have the power to make that happen, do you? Now that annoying Euler Pierce has all the fame of an angel, while the world scorns you as if you're an obstacle. No one but you will believe that you wanted to help, and that shall become the truth. Poor Violet…Strong enough to do what is right, too weak to make it happen!"

Violet at this point, was weeping. She wanted to wipe her tears, yet her arms couldn't move. She couldn't think of anything to deny or refute what was said from Undying One, and as his words echoed and resonated with the doubts she had in the past, she gave in to the sorrow.

Grabbing her by her chin, Undying One lifted her view to see his helmet up close. "But fear not, Violet. For I shall pay this world back with their own medicine. As I become more and more powerful, the world will eventually submit to my power. Then as a victor, I make myself the saint while all those who were foolish to resist me will be scorned as evil ones. From then on, those who truly deserve praise will be the ones getting them, and no longer those who pretend they are smart or stronger. In that world, your work shall certainly make you worthy of praise instead of this scorn you're getting…"

Violet only gave a resentful gaze in response.

Turning back, Undying One headed for an exit. "I let you go this time, Violet. Remember this as my sympathy for you. From now on, stay out of my way, for you have no hope of defeating me. If you fight me again, I will be forced to kill the one who truly understands what I feel, the one closest to me…"

Undying One then left Violet as she was in the abandoned barn. Mustering the effort to stand back on her feet. Violet could only let out tears for what had happened. As much as she hated to admit, the speeches from Undying One were that of a man with an intense, authentic feeling. His voice was of someone dying to share what they strongly believed in. He hid nothing from her, as if someone opened up about their true feelings. Behind that mask and suit was a person, a person with history and feelings like anyone else.

It was nighttime by the time Undying One reached back to the city. He climbed up to the roof of one high building. Standing in the middle of roof to avoid possible line of sight from below, Undying One took off his helmet to feel the breeze of cold air. Now, he was Euler for a moment. Staring at the general direction of where he met Violet, he felt as if something weighing down on his chest was let go and gone, and he felt lighter and satisfied. Someone finally got to listen to his discovery of the truth he thought to be ground-breaking, and no attempt at refutation was made. At the same time, a successful fabrication of a story without a need to bear the burden of proof thrilled him to no end.

"I can't imagine her fighting Undying One again after all that. Not when she surrendered anyway." Euler said to himself. "Now it will save me the trouble of possibly killing her afterwards." For some reason, that statement relieved Euler more than it should've. Euler was bothered by that fact and put his helmet back on. Now being an Undying One, he jumped from building to building, dropping notes to the ground before departing.
