Holding onto Euler's letter, Violet felt compelled to deliver the letter to his adoptive parents as soon as possible. Luckily, she still remembered the general area of where they had lived. Even though the sun was about to set, Violet felt like she would have a hard time sleeping if she didn't deliver the letter right now.

After several rides from public transport, Violet arrived at where Egon and Mary lived. It was nighttime now, and though Violet felt sorry for visiting at such a late hour, the desire to deliver Euler's last feelings was stronger, especially since Euler's parents were trying to contact him throughout the time. Taking a deep breath, Violet knocked on the door.

Mary Pierce was the one who answered the door. "Ah, Violet. I didn't expect to see you here. What brings you here tonight?"

"My sincere apologies for sudden, late visit, Mrs. Pierce." Violet said as she bowed. "But I'm here to bring you Euler's feelings to you. I hope that it will bring you even a moment of joy."

"Do you mean…?" When Mary saw the letter from Euler as Violet showed it to her, she exclaimed. "Honey! Our son wrote back to us! It's finally here!"

Egon immediately ran out of a bedroom and went to see the letter. "Could it be? Has he finally remembered us?" He immediately opened the letter and read the content within:

Dear Father and Mother

I've rejected you ever since that day when I've mutated my blood to blindly avenge myself against the world, all in the name of fulfilling the old purpose my master gave me. As the world scorned me for daring to save my master, I thought to myself that the ones close to me were of no help; I sought after power to make myself the hero against a devil as the world demanded. With me rejecting your offer to contact me, no one would say anything if I was no longer worthy to be called your son.

But you've never abandoned me. Out of my resentment against the world, I forgot that there are still those who loves me. In fact, father, I've loved you still that I felt guilty on that day, but I was too stubborn to admit it. I know that I've hurt you deeply as I obsessed over making myself the infallible hero to continue making breakthroughs. But it was all about me getting a power, and that is wrong.

You and master were right; I was able to live for someone. Even if the world won't let me, the ones close to me is still there for me. I know it is too late of a realization, yet knowing I could've made a better choice somehow fills me with peace and be freed from cursing the world. I am truly sorry for hurting you and not loving you back, and it is time for me to pay for what I've done.

But my price somehow feels bearable knowing you've always loved me and will remember who I truly was. I was always afraid of the world rejecting me for my failure, but it doesn't matter now.

I love you, father and mother. That is the last thing I want you to remember.

Euler Pierce

Egon and Mary cried after finishing reading. Violet waited, not completely confident in how they accepted it, because there was a room for tears of sadness from him dying soon, as well as tears of rejoicing. Then Mary hugged Violet. "We couldn't thank you enough, Violet. Coming all this way to deliver this to us…"

Unknowingly, Violet also let out her own tears as well. "I'm sorry that Euler will soon leave us…I wish he didn't have to, but the circumstance can't be helped. The best I can do, is to carry his last feelings to you and bring you even a moment of rejoice…"

Egon also hugged Violet. "You've done more than enough for us. After all the time we couldn't hear from Euler, this letter is like heaven's blessing to us. Hearing him say that he loves us and coming to peace in his heart; such joy shall make our sorrow much more bearable. Once again, a thousand thanks to you for all you've done, Violet."

"I'm glad that Euler's feelings got to you, and that the letter has brought joy to you."

The next day was Sunday, which is when the postal companies were closed. Violet took this time to pay a visit to Gerald's renting apartment, which the address he provided during the last meeting. There she caught Gerald up to speed on their last meeting, emphasizing that Euler has let go of his resentment and having more peace knowing that people like his parents has not given up on them. She also told that Euler wrote his last letter containing his expression of love to his parents.

After hearing all of Violet's words, Gerald let out a sigh as if a heavy load was taken off his shoulders. "How relieving. To think that fate has been merciful to a wretch like me to let me see that my actions were not in vain. In fact, it has turned out way better than I was expecting."

"One more thing, Gerald." Violet said as she showed him a letter. "Euler also had something to say to you. Don't worry, it is nothing malicious."

"Huh, I'm flattered. I guess I'll give it a read…"

Dear Gerald

I've nothing but unpleasant feeling about you in the past. But Violet has told me about your past with my master. You've supported my master as a friend, and even devised a plan to get me out alive. I am sorry for the hatred I held against you. Instead, I shall now thank you for doing your best for my master.

You may have sabotaged my workshop, and thus took away my chance at victory, but I won't hold a grudge; it doesn't matter anymore. On the contrary, it may have been for the best that I'm defeated to come to my senses rather than rot in my foolishness. Be proud; for your conviction has put the horror called Undying One to death, and its spirit purged by Devouring One. This Anointed One will now rest in peace.

Farewell

Euler Pierce

Gerald stared at the letter, not knowing how to accept the words written on the letter. "Violet," he said. "do I truly deserve to stand proud?"

"Yes. Even if the world may not know, I will remember your courage to do what was necessary. There's no need to despair from your past."

"I suppose so. All is finished for me now. This old soldier is now ready to rest by his friend's side."

"Please don't say something like that!" Violet exclaimed. "It's already enough that Euler will leave us forever, so why must you suggest something like that?"

"I've committed all of my resources to atone for my past sins, because guilt was eating me away. My life had no other purpose, until the chance to make my sins right came. Now that it's done-"

"It's not too late to start anew! You may have lost the people that you were close to, but there are always people willing to make new friends! If job search is a concern for you, I can vouch for you at CH Postal company and maybe they'll have a job for you! For me, having and cherishing people I love is more than enough to keep living, so I hope that you won't give up hope in starting anew!"

Gerald stood still, contemplating on what Violet has said. All this time, he was fixated on making up for his past sins that a life afterwards never crossed his mind. If heaven existed, then perhaps it was its way of telling him that his atonement was acceptable. "I'll think about it, Violet. And lastly, thank you."

"I hope to see you again, Gerald."

At this time, Euler in his prison cell was recalling the key moment in his life: his prosthetic limb invention. At that time, he was only concerned about the fact that he made a first step in moving humanity forward with his superb intellect, as his master desired so. But now he remembered the joy of the war veteran and his family as his life turned for better. He also remembered Violet's word of gratitude for his invention when they first met.

Euler then looked at his veins visible on his wrist, which contained his deviant blood cells. It was a product of his vengeful quest to somehow continue his old purpose of moving humanity forward, which now proved to be futile and foolish. When Alexei said to Euler to be free and rest from his purpose, such bitter, vengeful quest was exactly what Alexei wanted Euler to be spared from.

Although it was a shame that Euler went against his master's will before, he still had time before his execution. "Excuse me," he said to one of security guards. "hear my last wish before death; please give me an abundant number of papers and pen, so that I can write down my knowledge and planned medical inventions for future scholars. May my last intellectual legacy leave beneficial impact for future generations." In some sense, what Euler was doing wasn't so different from his master's original purpose. But this time, it was out of his own desire to benefit the likes of war veteran and Violet. Even just for a brief moment, Euler was given a chance to truly honor his master's last words and started writing with peace within him.

Meanwhile, Violet was walking her way home after conversing with Gerald. She was thinking about Euler's relationship with his master, and naturally she thought about Gilbert as well. She recalled her time as a soldier obeying Gilbert's order but neglected to understand his emotions. Alexei's last words were quite similar to Gilbert's words to her; to be free and live her life. Recent events gave her new perspective on Gilbert's words, that she let go of Gilbert as if she was his weapon and become human that can feel emotions.

Violet touched the green brooch she was wearing. "Major…I still believe you're alive somewhere. Out of all things, I want to see you again the most. But know that I'm not seeking you out of obligation to report to you. I want to let you know of my thankfulness for your care for me and not giving up on my humanity despite my failure to grasp your feelings. As the special bond between me, my friends, and my neighbors exist, I also want to form that bond with you. As you've said that night, I'll also say it back to you: I love you."
