Chapter 04: All Roads lead to Rhodes part 02
Over the next four days Atticus managed to contact Jaden, three guesses as to how, as said hero duelist was preparing for the upcoming event as the following text appeared on his phone.
' emergency!, get over here as quick as you can!'
The time was close to 11:30 Am as Jaden rushed through the streets of Domino towards the Rhodes residence as he was booking it as fast as he could, with traffic being light and public transport being unusually helpful as said teen in question made it to his destination within 25 minutes as he kept rushing to the house only stoping after almost literally running into Alexis carrying a few shopping bags, heaving and breathing the girl in question asked worried and confused.
" jay?!…. Are you alright?…. Take a deep breath and walk slowly…"
walking slow with him for a bit Jaden finally managed to get a few words in.
" Atticus…. text… emergency…."
Having a fair hunch on what happened Alexis grit her teeth as a scowl etched on her face as she llet out.
" Atti you idiot….once I'll get my hands on you…"
With that said and done Jaden and Alexis made their way towards her house as she led Jaden to the kitchen, offering him a glass of water.
" here….. and drink it slowly."
Jaden complied before setting down the glass after a few sips.
"…. thanks…"
Alexis gave him a reassuring grin while saying.
" thank me after I pound stupid Atticus into the ground."
As if on cue said brother made his entrance into the room asking and commenting innocently.
"hey Jay man, someone made you run a marathon or something?"
Jaden took a deep breath before showing the text on his phone.
" you did…."
At that Atticus sweat dropped figuring what might come next as a nervous expression came on his face.
" Jay. When I said emergency, I was talking about the big event coming up…."
with that Jaden finished the drink before asking.
" god anything to eat?!… I skipped on late breakfast…."
Jaden's stomach growled as if she was on cue while all of them agreed on a light snack, once all of them were done Atticus took the opportunity, leading them towards a spacious closet with three mannequins were displayed front an center as both Alexis and Jaden said in unison.
" you've got to be kidding me…."
The outfits in question were color coordinated and gaudy as all hell as Atticus asked innocently.
" what's wrong, is this the thanks I get for making stylish outfits for all of us?"
Alexis deadpanned.
" made them? Or have someone else made them for you?…."
At that Atticus fainted a hurt expression while exclaiming dramatically.
" oh sis… how can you be so cruel and cynical….."
With that Alexis rolled her eyes while Jaden took a closer look at the outfits thinking to himself.
' how can I let him down…!?….. wait a minute….'
With that Jaden cleared his throat as the two Rhodes siblings began to fight while Jaden sweat dropped thinking.
' I need a new approach… but what?….'
Getting an idea Jaden gave a very loud whistle.
With both brother and sister now paying close attention to Jaden said teen talked with absolute full confidence.
" Atticus, thanks for the thought but I think I got a better idea, this little event is a formal event right?, so why not pick an accessory from those costumes that really talk to us and mix it with our formal wear?"
that got Atticus smirking something fierce as Alexis thought about what Jaden said for a bit longer with the former exclaiming.
" who would've thought, there's a showman deep inside you Jay!"
Appreciating the comment, at least he thought he did anyway, Jaden simply shrugged as he replied.
" not really… I guess I got it from hanging out around you….."
At that both boys gave a hearty laugh as Alexis finished thinking about what Jaden said as she admitted to herself that his idea made the most sense, with that out of the way Atticus excused himself stating he would go to the kitchen to fetch some snacks as said girl spoke up.
" looks like I owe you this time."
Jaden simply smiled stating while looking over the costume meant for him.
" you don't owe me a thing, besides the whole costume thing is a whole lot of whoa….."
Alexis couldn't help but give a little giggle replying.
" that they are."
For those looking for some context, the costumes were a mish mash of medieval styled armor kind of big budget Hollywood movies one mixed with skin tight leather that screamed Glam Rock, and a bit of super hero TV shows just to give it an extra touch of flare, needless to say it was too much even for someone excitable like Jaden as he picked eventually from his costume the shoulder pads, the cape, and boots.
" well crisis averted, the day is saved and I'll see you and Atticus in three days…"
Before he could leave though Alexis caught him by the collar of his shirt.
" if you're here already we might as well do some studying. At that Jaden chuckled nervously as he stated the following.
" I don't have my text books here….."
At that Alexis chuckled in amusement.
" I'll lend you some."
With that Jaden comically continued this routine with every other school supplies he could think of while Alexis found an answer for each one as the teenage boy played the last trump card he could think of.
" could we wait for the snacks first?, I'm getting really hungry….."
At that Alexis broke into a laugh saying.
" come on big guy, you survived worst."
Jaden replied as follows.
" Shadow Riders were much more fun to deal with…"
Alexis at that delivered the punchline.
" I meant professor Stein."
Jaden was now the one who broke into a fit of laughter before asking.
" who are we talking about again?"
With that said and done the rest of the day was spent studying, well an attempt by Jaden anyway as Atticus delivered the snacks as promised before spending most of the day on the phone. As both took a break Jaden couldn't help but ask.
" is that a good thing with him on the phone like that?"
Alexis sighed in frustration.
" with my brother you could never really know….."
Jaden only chuckled as he replied while they resumed their studies.
" that sounds about right."
Fortunately enough for Jaden the rest of the three days came and went pretty quickly as on the day of the event, at roughly early afternoon said duelist was putting the finish touches to his getup, a combo of a dark red shirt with black dress pants with matching shoes and of course the most important items, his academy issue duel disk complete with his newly improved deck as the doorbell began ringing.
" wonder who that can be…"
As Jaden opened the door Mr. Rhodes was waiting for him with his classic car waiting in the drive way.
" let me guess Atticus and Alexis sent you to make sure I'm either not lost or late?"
Mr. Rhodes smirked as he gestured Jaden towards the car as said teen made sure to lock up before he left. Getting in the car Jaden could not get over the fact that the ride was the coolest thing he experienced in a while.
" nervous kid?"
Jaden smirked as he replied honestly.
" nervous I'd stick out like a sore thumb but otherwise I'm more then good."
Impressed by his confidence Mr. Rhodes gave a wry smile as he answered.
" you'll fit in just fine, besides Atticus invited a few of your friends from the academy for this event."
Jaden inwardly was beyond excited, however he still rolled his eyes.
" of course he would….."
With the conversation concluded the car drove off into the city as the duo reached their destination As Jaden spotted a couple of his friends already, Syrus and Chazz, well he wasn't sure exactly about the latter.
" hey…. great to see you guys….."
Syrus beamed at his big bro but before he could get a word in edgewise Chazz beat him to the punch.
" oh yeah?, great for who slacker?!"
Jaden smirked as he shot back.
" nice to see you too neighbor…. Still working on that scowl of yours I see?"
Chazz gave an equally sarcastic laugh and a smirk shooting back.
" still working on that damn personality of yours?"
Butting in on that verbal duel while Mr. Rhodes went inside to entertain his guests and relatives Syrus spoke.
" were you invited as well Jay?"
Jaden gave a light pat on Syrus back saying.
" actually I'm the main attraction."
Chazz remarked sarcastically while rolling his eyes, totally not jealous.
" oh what a surprise…"
Before the conversation could develop further Alexis and her best friends, Mindy and Jazz came out wearing evening dresses that left the boys speechless, even Jaden, though he was more surprised that the blonde beauty was wearing the locket he gave her a week ago.
' come on brain, for once in my lifetime…. Come up with something nice to say…..'
" Jaden….. did you hear what I said….?"
Jaden answered Alexis's question as follows.
" sorry spaced out for a sec, what did you say again?"
Sighing Alexis repeated herself.
" I said that this looks suits you."
Smirking Jaden repaid the compliment.
" thanks, I can say the same thing to you."
Just as an awkward silence was about to hit everyone Jaden made a quick save by saying.
" not to mention all of you guys, looking real sharp…"
At that statement the awkward silence was replaced by an awkward laugh as everyone went inside as Chazz rolled his eyes at Jaden's comment, once inside they were greeted by Atticus Rhodes, already rocking, well forcing it really, some of his costume, which subtly referenced a dragon motif with black coloring with navy blue highlights and a dark blue formal suit.
" Atti, at least drop the mask so you wouldn't bump into your own ego."
At this Atticus comically replied.
" sis… I'm just trying to liven things up for the family before the main event…"
With that Atticus excused both Jaden and Alexis from the rest of their friends citing that he needed their full attention for their next hour or so as Alexis thought.
' Lana… if there was ever a time that I needed you….. this would be the moment…'
As Atticus led Alexis and Jaden to their "dressing rooms" said hero duelist wore the pieces of costume he chose in advance, now admiring the cape that covered the shoulder pads he wore as he admitted to himself.
" Atticus I admit, this looks really good…"
Catching a figure of a woman whom he never met before he turned to face her as she replied.
" even a broken clock is right twice a day."
Taking a closer look he noted that the figure, while dressing formally like the rest of the guests gave a tough and grizzled vibes and judging by her features such as light brown, almost golden hair with dark piercing eyes Jaden guessed she's at least a relative of both Atticus and Alexis.
" oh right….. what's with me today… Jaden Yuki, nice to meet ya."
The woman smirked.
" same, Lana Rhodes, or just Lana."
Jaden responded with a grin of his own asking.
" let me guess, you came to get me instead of Atticus?"
Amused by his attitude Lana simply replied the following.
" not really, just wanted to meet the guy who saved my cousin"
At that Jaden offered his hand for a hand shake which Lana accepted with the former asking.
" so any impression yet?"
Lana in turn smirked at the levels of self confidence Jaden was showing as she concluded the conversation with.
" I'll tell you after this duel Atticus bragged about."
With Jaden adjusting his costume pieces one last time about fifteen minutes went by as Atticus came with his duel disk strapped to his left arm saying.
" it's show time Jay, are you ready?"
Jaden nodded replying.
" yeah, just met cousin Lana."
With that said and done both boys left towards the designated " Arena" as Jaden stated.
" your cousin is quite the character."
At that Atticus began laughing as a few choice memories came in mind as he simply replied.
" you don't know the half of it…."
Noticing his reaction Jaden noted to himself.
' I have a weird feeling that maybe I don't want to know.'
The Rhode's terrace, five minutes towards the start of the duel.
As Atticus took to the main stage he asked the audience of family and friends that gathered the following question.
" before we start the main event, would you like to make a request?"
At this his dear cousin Lana wasn't the least bit concerned when she busted his chops.
" we do but you're going to keep talking anyway."
Laughter and snickering were erupted from both the audience gathered, even from Alexis and Jaden as Atticus replied sarcastically.
" oh how nice that somethings never change around here…."
With that said and done Atticus quickly went over the rules as follows.
"our show for the evening will play like this, each duelist gets 4000 points each, no sharing of cards but using each other's strategies is a-ok and finally we take turns in alphabetic order which means Alexis, myself and finally Jay over here, everything clear?"
Jaden nodded a 'yes' as Atticus declared.
" lets give them a show they'll never forget….."
Jaden smirked as he declared himself.
"game on…."
Alexis: 4000 – Atticus: 4000 – Jaden: 4000
" my move."
As Alexis started off the duel she rapidly drew her opening hand as she inspected the five cards she drew before stating.
" first I summon Etoile Cyber on the field in attack mode, then I set three cards face down and end my turn."

Atticus took his turn declaring.
" don't go too easy on him, I on the other hand am gonna go big or go home."
Drawing his five cards he grimaced a bit as Jaden picked on it as he asked.
" let me guess, not the cards you were hoping for a grand opening?"
Atticus smirked at the good natured roasting.
" I admit I had better openings, but a true showman knows how to improvise…"
With that said and done Lana continued heckling Atticus from the audience.
" let us know when he takes center stage."
Ignoring the comment Atticus continued with his move.
" first I summon two troop dragons in attack mode, the ever loveable Red Eyes Black Chick in defense, set one card faced down and let you take it from here."

Red Eyes Black Chick ( 800/500 )
At that Jaden gave a wide grin as he stated.
" opening your moves with your best foot forward?, then I'll open up running at top speed.
Drawing his five cards Jaden began setting them up.
" first I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in attack mode."

As Sparkman made his entrance Jaden continued.
" next I attach Spark blaster and use it on Etoile Cyber and Red Eyes Black Chick and end with two face downs of my own."
With Spark Blaster forcing the two opposing monsters to either kneel in defense or rise to attack a facedown card materialized on Jaden's side as the hero duelist stated.
" and back to you Alexis."
Alexis gave a smirk of her own as she replied.
" thanks but why do I get the feeling you're up to something?"
Jaden couldn't help but smile as he shot back in mock innocence.
" who me?!… no never…"
Alexis drew her next card which she played right away.
" I'm activating Pot of Greed."
Drawing two new cards Alexis didn't hesitate to use one of them.
" I summon Cyber Tutu, you remember her right?"

Before Jaden could answer the cyber dancer in question lunged at him as she delivered a direct attack causing him to cough a bit.
Jaden: 4000 -→3000.
" how could I forget….."
With that said and done Alexis kept the last card to herself, ending the turn and handing over the reins to Atticus.
" since Alexis drew first blood, allow me to get this momentum going."
Atticus drew a card, smirking at what he got as he immediately played it.
" I play Ring of Destruction, attaching it to your Sparkman"
Jaden: 3000 -→1400. Atticus: 4000 -→2400.
With that Atticus debated what to do for a few moments before concluding the following.
" since we want to give the folks at home a good show I'll end my turn and give you a shot at a comeback."
At this Jaden smirked as he warned him.
" thanks but I promise you you'll regret it."
Jaden at this took a moment before he drew using Graceful Charity to draw three more cards while discarding two, amongst the cards drawn were The warrior returning alive, E emergency call and Fusion Gate which Jaden used to bring back Sparkman as he declared.
" from my hand I activate Fusion Gate, allowing me to fusion summon straight to the field, and I'll summon Elemental Hero Thunder Giant."
Removing the monster cards from play Thunder Giant materialized onto the field.
Elemental Hero Thunder Giant ( 2400/1500 )
" just for the folks at home Thunder Giant ain't just brawns and no brains, see if I discard a card from either my hand or deck, I get to destroy one of your monster if their original attack aren't higher than my monster's."
At that Atticus smirked for a bit, trying to hide his worries as he had a good idea what monster Jaden would target.
" Thunder Giant, send Cyber Tutu packing."
With that Cyber Tutu was struck by lightning and thunder as she dissolved from the field as Jaden continued his move.
" now Thunder Giant, direct attack on Etoile Cyber."
Alexis smirked as she stated.
" not so fast, I play Dobble Passe"
Jaden smirked back as his monster changed targets while her monster came for him.
" I play Draining Shield, stopping the attack and gaining some life points on the way."
Jaden: 1400 -→2600. Alexis: 4000 -→1600.
At that Alexis grimaced while admitting.
" hate to admit it but that was clever of you"
Jaden smirked in return.
" knowing you?, you'll definitely outsmart me on the next turn, so please go ahead."
Alexis in return gave him a pleasant smile stating.
" thanks, don't mind if I do."
Alexis drew her next card which happened to be Fusion weapon as she declared.
" thank you, now using your Fusion Gate I Summon one of my own, Cyber Blader."

With the monster set in place Alexis continued her move with declaring the following.
" and to give my monster an extra edge I'm equipping Fusion Weapon as well"

Alexis wasn't done just yet as she declared a direct attack on Thunder giant destroying the monster in question.
Jaden: 2600 -→1400.
Alexis at this point ended her turn as she gave her brother the opportunity to continue dueling which he gladly took.
" before I continue, let me ask, is everyone enjoying themselves?"
Within the crowd of relatives and friends, the little kids present couldn't be more ecstatic while the adults cheered and clapped respectfully, however one individual wasn't shy of being critical, that being Chazz Princeton.
" I've seen better."
With that everyone in the audience, save for cousin Lana who snickered at that blatant comment, shot dirty looks at the ravened haired teen which gave him the bright idea to shut up.
" now as I was about to say, I draw."
Drawing Atticus played his own Pot of Greed as he drew two more cards which caused him to smirk before continuing.
" I sacrifice from my hand and field Red Eyes Black Chick, Red Eyes Black Dragon and Red Eyes Black Wyvern to summon my one and only Red Eyes Darkness Dragon."
As the intimidating Dragon emerged on the scene Atticus asked rhetorically.
" you do remember his special ability don't you?"
Red Eyes Darkness Dragon ( 2400 → 3600/2000 )
" now take your turn and try to upstage me if you can."
Jaden smirked saying.
" you're on."
Jaden drew and immediately used his own Pot of Greed as he drew two more cards as he declared.
" I'm starting this turn by summoning Bladeedge on to the field using my Necroshade special ability from the grave"
Elemental Hero Bladeedge ( 2600/1800 )
Jaden continued on as the Elemental Hero solidified his appearance.
" next up I'm changing the venue yet again by playing the field spell Skyscraper and setting another card."
As the field now becoming a metropolitan area, more specifically a cluster of buildings reaching towards the sky itself as Jaden continued.
" I place one card face down and Attack Darkness Dragon with Bladeedge"

Atticus at that was confused as he stated.
" why destroy both monsters unless…"
Jaden finished that thought confidently.
" unless I play this, a classic, Shield and Sword"
Red Eyes Darkness Dragon ( 2000/3600 )
Atticus: 2400 -→800.
Atticus twitched for a bit as he began laughing.
" well can't say I didn't ask for this"
Jaden only said the following.
" with that I end my turn for now"
Alexis drew as she kept focus on her game.
" I'll be placing a new monster of mine, Cyber Valkyrie in defense mode face down, one card to go with it and end my turn."
Cyber Valkyrie ( 1300/1500 )
A little confused Jaden was expecting a bit more from Alexis at this stage of the game to which said girl responded in a cheeky tone.
" I planned on attacking and taking the lead but I had to get you back for the trick you pulled on me"
At this Atticus interrupted on the moment.
" would the two of you would like some time alone or may I continue?"
As Alexis shot daggers at her brother while Jaden tried to figure out what the hell did he mean by that Atticus drew his next card, using Graceful Charity he made sure he had enough cards before he went on the offensive.
" here's a blast from the past, I play Call of the Haunted to bring back Red Eyes Darkness Dragon and to make sure that nothing stops him from attacking I activate Mystical Space Typhoon, now say goodbye to the city."
Jaden at this moment joked saying.
" goodbye city."
Not knowing how to react to that joke both the audience and Atticus decided on moving along.
" now Red Eyes Darkness Dragon attack Bladeedge."
Just as the dragon began attacking the golden armored hero Jaden played his face down card.
" I activate Hero Barrier, stopping your dragon's attack."
With the attack failing Atticus switched his Troop Dragon #1 to defense mode as Jaden countered.
" sorry that won't help, Bladeedge can inflict piercing damage."
With that said and done Bladedge sliced one of the troop dragons to bits causing Atticus to lose the rest of his life points.
Atticus: 800 -→0.
" sorry sis, think you can take him on your own?"
Alexis confidently smirked as she replied.
" I don't think, I know."
With the duel continuing with two turns passing Both Jaden and Alexis drew all the cards they needed with the hero duelist drawing one of the cards his opponent gave him, however that fact he kept close to his chest as it was her turn yet again.
" I place Cold Enchanter in attack mode and one card face down, ending my turn."
At that Jaden stated nonchalantly.
" and now I'll end this duel with the following, I activate my own Ring of Destruction and attach it to Bladeedge"
Alexis was stunned for a moment or two before smiling knowingly.
" I should have known…."
Jaden: 1400 -→0. Alexis: 1600 -→ 0.
With the duel ending in one win and a draw the audience erupted with applause as the duelists gave their thanks as they rejoined the party and friends. As the party continued into the night eventually some guests began to leave and as the scene became more relaxed Alexis found Jaden staring at the sky on the terrace where the duel took place.
" you really like the outdoors huh?"
Jaden replied with a smile.
" and to daydream."
Alexis at that laughed a bit as the two continued talking for a bit as she eventually stated.
" never figured you'd end the duel in a tie, not if you could end it with a win for you"
Jaden stretched his arms as he confessed.
" yeah well, I care about my friends and having fun a lot more than actually winning, besides I will never take a dive anyway."
Alexis agreed with the sentiment stating.
" next time it's going to end differently."
At that Jaden lightly teased.
" oh! Is that so?"
Replying to the teasing remark Alexis made herself clear.
" it will be so"
With that the duo eventually returned to their friends with Alexis heading in first while Jaden stayed behind to enjoy the view a bit more before following suit. While inside Jaden managed to get himself into yet another contest, this time against Chazz, which of the two could draw the strongest monsters within five rounds and yet again the match concluded with yet another draw even after mixing the two decks together so no one would have the obvious advantage.
" let me guess, you're thinking the exact same thing as I am."
At that Alexis couldn't hide the smile that came on her face as she replied Lana.
" and he keeps proving it every single time."
At that Lana gave a small knowing and teasing smile as Alexis stopped the conversation, making sure no one was eavesdropping.
" aside from being just friends I'm also his tutor for the time being, so I'd like to keep it as simple as that."
Lana nodded as she replied.
" fair enough, but just be ready, life finds a way to complicate even the simplest of things."
As the party almost came to a close the first of the gang to leave was Chazz Princeton citing that he had a very busy week ahead of him, still thanking everyone for the hospitality and the show before saying goodbye, next Syrus left stating that he was beat and bushed with Jazz and Mindy not far behind. As Jaden was about to return the costume he took off the boots and shoulder pads, when it came time to return the cape Atticus entered the " dressing room" stating.
" before you ask, go ahead and keep it if you want to."
Jaden smiled as he said.
"thanks"
Atticus at that showed a rare sight of humility as he replied.
" I should be thanking you, this was one of the best shows I managed to pull off."
Jaden smirked at the older teen stating.
" don't mention it."
At this point Jaden wasn't prepared for the direction the conversation went as Atticus continued with.
" speaking of mention, I've heard an interesting story from Jazz and Mindy, I think you know which one"
Jaden could only sigh as he thought to himself.
' I managed to convince him not to tease Alexis… didn't count on him trying to tease me…'
Jaden took another deep breath as he replied with.
" if you mean that sport nut Harrington, then yeah he challenged me to a duel with being Alexis's fiancée at stake and I beat him, nothing more to it."
Atticus at that surprised Jaden as he cracked up, replying between gasping for air.
" that's the most nonchalant response considering what you agreed to Jay."
Jaden cleared his throat, a tinge of embarrassment showing on his face as he replied.
" well if I'm honest I managed to figure out that fiancée was a fancy word for boyfriend and girlfriend halfway through the duel."
Atticus shook his head from side to side as he stated that it meant much more than that, not giving the full picture just yet, as the following question came to mind.
" then why play dumb?"
Jaden at that answered truthfully.
" well besides Harrington being a fruit loop I figured that it would be best for Alexis to decide for herself what's going to happen next."
Before the conversation could continue any further both boys heard Alexis's voice coming through the entrance.
" and I wouldn't have it any other way"
As both Atticus and Jaden comedically froze in place the former asked his sister.
" how much have you heard?"
Alexis's only reply was.
" most of it."
With that said and done Atticus tried the old ' I think I had a hat when I came in' routine as Jaden side eyed him silently saying that this wasn't working before clearing his throat before asking.
" so where do we go from here?"
Alexis stared Jaden dead in the eyes before she pinched his nose in a vice grip saying.
" I should be furious with you for acting stupid and being reckless but what's done is done, so, promise me one thing."
Jaden gestured her to continue.
" make sure you don't accept duels without having an idea about the terms, got it?"
At that Jaden nodded as he promised not to do it while Alexis shifted her gaze to Atticus as a small smirk etched on her face.
" do your best Atti."
Atticus at this point gave a smirk of his own giving her a thumbs up while Alexis released Jaden from the vice grip as all he could think to himself was.
' well this isn't good… then again I suppose this could've ended a lot worse… knock on wood…..'
with that said and done the trio went downstairs to see Jaden off with Atticus providing a bag for the hero to carry his new cape. As Jaden returned home he noticed that it was around a quarter to ten at night, noting that the hero duelist tried to enter the house as quietly as possible as to not disturb his parents or the neighbors as an all too familiar sound spoke up from the living room.
" so how was the event dear?"
Jaden at that answered his mom as follows.
" it was really a lot of fun, did I keep you waiting too long?"
Lauren gave him a small smile stating.
" no, I just got home a little while ago myself…. What's in the bag by the way?"
Jaden at this beamed as he showed her.
" just the coolest capes I've ever worn in my entire life."
At this point Jaden began sharing a bit more info on the event itself as Lauren listened intently that is until Jaden got a text from Atticus stating.
' in all the fun we had I forgot to tell you'
'your surfing lessons start this weekend.'
Jaden at that put the conversation on pause as he wrote back.
' do I need to get a surfboard or even a surfing suit or something?'
the reply came in quick.
' no, not yet anyway, my house noonish, be there okay?'
Jaden at that sent back the reply confirming it as Lauren took a quick peak asking.
" surfing lessons huh?"
Jaden only shrugged saying.
" a bit of a long story, can I tell you about that a bit later?"
Lauren smirked as she dismissed her son while Jaden rushed to his room for the night.
