As Sebastian went downstairs, the smell of maple syrup and bacon filled the air. He entered the kitchen to discover his mother cooking up a storm.
"Damn, Ma, you got the whole kitchen smelling like a Waffle House," Sebastian said.
"Ugh, it must be that bacon, Jazmine said as she didn't like the smell of bacon or pork for that matter.
Sebastian retrieved orange juice from the fridge.
"So what's the occasion? " He asked. He was aware that his mother disliked meat, but she would make an exception for him. She usually made turkey bacon because it's viewed as a healthier option, but today she made pork bacon in particular. The only person he knew who had a fondness for pork bacon was his ...
"Well. Your father decided to come over for breakfast" Jazmine said interrupting his thoughts.
Sebastian slammed the fridge doors shut, "He what!" He exclaimed.
"Did you just say Dad was coming here?" He asked, hoping it was a joke.
"Yes, love, he called this morning to let me know he was on his way," Jazmine confirmed.
"Why?" Sebastian asked, catching an instant attitude.
"I guess he has some words for you too" Jazmine said, turning the bacon around on the opposite side.
Sebastian smacked his teeth. "In that case. I'm gonna just head out, then, " he said stubbornly as he attempted to leave out.
Jazmine removed the spatula from the stove and held it up.
"Young man, Don't you dare walk out that door" Jazmine said.
Sebastian groaned dramatically," Mama, please. I am not dealing with this right now, "
"Sebastian, you can't keep avoiding him. He's your father, "Jazmine reminded him.
"I'm not avoiding him" Sebastian lied. "I just don't want to be around him or his stupid new wife," He said, muttering the last part.
Jazmine heard him clearly. She sighed deeply as she placed the bacon on the serving tray. She turned off the stove and walked towards him.
"Darling, " she said as she held his hands. "I know you're not on good terms with your father, but I'm begging you, give him the chance to be a dad. For once, listen to what he has to say. He's only interested in talking, and if you're not comfortable after that, I'll leave the rest to you, " Jazmine said softly.
Sebastian sighed profoundly, "Okay, Mama, but just know. I'm only doing this for you."
Jazmine smiled "I appreciate that baby, " she said. "Now go on and set that table for me"
"Yes Ma'am" He said as he did as he was told.
Jazmine was on her way to check the coffee when she heard a loud knock on the door.
"That must be your father now, " Jazmine announced, taking off her apron.
"Great. The sperm donor's has arrived" Sebastian muttered under his breath.
"You'd better use respectful terms in my house, young man," she said on a cautionary note before leaving to answer the door.
Upon reaching the doorknob. She hesitated a bit. She hadn't seen her ex husband in a while and was unsure of what to expect.
She took a deep breath before opening the door, revealing the 41-year-old African-American defense attorney.
Tristan Bryant was undoubtedly a stunning man. He stood 6'2 with amber brown eyes, and fair-skinned. His dark brown hair was styled in a taper fade haircut with 360 waves. While his beard appeared to have been freshly shaved, giving him a youthful appearance. He was dressed casually and carried a suitcase, suggesting he was planning a longer stay.
A smile spread across his face as he spoke. 'It's so good to see you, Jazmine."
"It's good seeing you too, Tristan "She said with a small smile.
His eyes looked as if they were examining her appearance. Jazmine was a bit uncomfortable with the way he was gazing at her.
She cleared her throat lightly.
"Please come in. " She said, stepping aside to let him in.
"Don't mind if I do, " he said as he walked in like he owned the place. "Mm..mm..mm..mm it smells good in here" He said before making his way to the kitchen
As he caught sight of Sebastian, he grinned proudly
"Hey champ! " He exclaimed, approaching Sebastian with open arms.
Sebastian looked at him like he was a stranger. "Sup.. Dad, " he said, nonchalantly, rejecting his father's embrace.
"Young man, give your daddy a hug this instant " Jazmine demanded.
"Jazzy quit fussing, Let's not force the boy," Tristan spoke in a calm manner. He looked at the table to see serving trays of baked cinnamon French toast, turkey sausages, pork bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese grits, and some crispy home fries.
"Now that's what I call breakfast,' he exclaimed as he began to prepare his plate of food.
He sat down and ate from his plate like a hungry man.
"Son. Have a seat, " he said to Sebastian, who took a seat at the table.
"Jazzy. Bring me a cup of coffee and come eat, he said in a demanding tone.
"Please and thank you," said Jazmine, reminding him of his manners as she placed the cup of black coffee alongside him.
Tristan wiped his mouth with a napkin before glancing at Jazmine in amusement. 'Thank you,' he said politely. "Now, would you please sit down and enjoy this delicious breakfast with your family? "
Sebastian glared at him as he had the audacity to call them a family.
Jazmine gave Tristan a funny look before taking a seat. She remained silent as she made a small meatless plate for herself.
Ten minutes passed and Tristan eventually asked.
"So tell me, son. Who's the lucky girl you're engaged to? "
"First of all, I'm the one whose lucky" Sebastian said. "And her name is Nina, we met in college a year ago and now we're getting married " He said briefly.
"I see you didn't waste any time getting to know each other," Tristan said.
"Nah. We know enough about each other to know we're in love, and that's all that matters," Sebastian said defensively.
"I hear you, Son, but you need more than love to be successful in marriage. Believe me, marriage isn't easy, look at your mother and I. We loved each other, however our differences weighed us down. And in the end, we didn't succeed" Tristan mentioned.
"Or maybe it's because you decided to marry another woman instead," Sebastian said sarcastically.
"Yes, I did get married with another woman, but it had nothing to do with me divorcing your mother" Tristan said as Jazmine gave him the side eye.
" Son, the point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't rush into marriage unless you're absolutely sure you're the right person for each other" Tristan stated.
"Didn't you rush into a marriage with Diane? Tell me DAD, did she turn out to be the right one for you? " Sebastian inquired.
Tristan was taken aback by his question.
"Sebastian.. " Jazmine said in a warning tone. she felt his question was a bit inappropriate.
"Jazmine, please don't intervene. Tristan's tone was calm. "Diane and I had a long-standing friendship before we got married, but to clarify your question. Yes, she is the right one and we have a very successful marriage,"
Jazmine's feelings were somewhat hurt by Tristan's statement, but she remained quiet.
"That's wassup , " Sebastian said as he looked disgusted.
"With this in mind, do you feel the same way about Nina?" asked Tristan.
"Absolutely, she's the one and only," said Sebastian with confidence as Jazmine smiled at him.
"Very well, Son. That's all I wanted to know,' " Tristan said as he sipped his coffee.
Sebastian felt that his mother was not included in the conversation and decided to raise a topic that was on his mind.
"Oh by the way, Mama, Did Mr. Freeman ever come back for his car yet? " He randomly asked.
"Yes, he did while you were in the shower," Jazmine replied nervously.
Tristan eyes darted " Did you say Mr. Freeman? "He thought the name Freeman sounded familiar. He cleared his throat. "Who's that?"
"He's Nina's dad, " Sebastian confirmed.
"Oh...how did his car end up here? " Tristan said, keeping his eye on Jazmine, who looked guilty.
"Last night, he drove Mama home, but then his car broke down. He told Mama he was going to come back and fix it in the morning," Sebastian answered innocently.
'I see,' Tristan said sharply. "And why couldn't you take your mother home yourself?" He glared at Sebastian who instantly looked offended.
"I was gonna take her home but" Sebastian tried to explain but Jazmine chimed in.
"Sebastian offered to take me home Tristan, but I insisted that he stay because I didn't want him to have to leave his party besides, Mr. Freeman wasn't taking no for an answer " she explained.
"Alright then" He said as he still didn't like the idea. "I suppose I need to thank Mr. Freeman for bringing my son's mother home safely, as I am ecstatic to meet my future daughter-in-law," Tristan mentioned.
"With that being said. I want to host a dinner tonight here, " Tristan suggested.
"Tonight? " Jazmine said like she was lost of hearing.
Tristan looked at her seriously. "Yes, tonight, will that be a problem Ma'am?"
"Of-of course not, it just I haven't gone shopping yet" Jazmine said as she tried to make an excuse.
"Well, in that case. Get the cleaning done and find a yourself a nice dress. Sebastian and I will do the shopping," Tristan said as he rose from his seat.
"Son. Get your coat on, I need you to take this ride with me" He demanded.
Sebastian sighed deeply as he didn't feel like going, but he had promised his mother, he would give his dad a chance.
As Sebastian left to gather his things, Tristan looked at Jazmine, who seemed to be reading a text on her phone. He observed her lips curving a smile and her cheeks reddening with excitement.
He made a slow walk towards her.
"New boyfriend? " She jumped as he startled her.
She placed her phone down and looked up nervously.
"No, what do you have in mind for dinner?" She asked, switching the subject.
"Don't change the subject. I know you're seeing someone. I can tell by the glow in your face" Tristan said, feeling jealous.
"How's Diane, your wife? " Jazmine asked firmly with her hands resting on her hip.
Tristan laughed while looking away because he knew she was putting him in his place.
"Diane is doing great, thanks for asking. He smiled and said, 'I'll let her know you said hello.'
Good, then you can invite her to dinner too. Jazmine spoke firmly.
"She would be delighted to attend, but Diane won't be able to do so due to a bad cold. However, you didn't answer my question. Who is the lucky fellow" Tristan asked as he had her cornered against the sink.
His hands were on each side of the counter, preventing Jazmine from moving as her body stood between his strong arms. His proximity to her face caused her heart to pound.
"You know this is a real familiar position " He whispered as he recalled them getting it on in the kitchen back in the day.
"Tristan.." she was ready to fuss at him about his behavior, but then Sebastian entered the kitchen interrupting them.
"Yo Da-" Sebastian stopped at mid-sentence as he witnessed his daddy all up his mama's personal space. Tristan backed away and looked at him with a smile
"You ready Champ?"
"...Yeah" Sebastian said, looking at Jazmine . "Everything cool Ma?"
"Yes, honey, I'm fine," Jazmine laughed nervously while saying, 'Go ahead with your daddy.'
"Okay, do you want anything from the store? " He asked politely.
"No thanks baby, just make sure to tell Nina about tonight" Jazmine responded.
"I will Ma" Sebastian said. He looked at Tristan. "You ready.. Dad?"
Tristan tossed the keys to him and he caught them. "Go ahead and warm up the car for me. I'll be there shortly," He said while Sebastian looked suspiciously at him.
He didn't trust him around his mother.
'A'ight', he said as he finally left.
Once Tristan knew Sebastian was gone, he approached Jazmine.
In a demanding tone, he said, "So you're going to tell me about this boyfriend of yours?"
"There's no boyfriend, Tristan. What has gotten into you? " Jazmine asked, pushing him away a little.
"Nothing, I just would like to know who is going to be around my son" He said as Jazmine looked up.
"It's a bit late for that, don't you think? " Jazmine said, referring to the fact that Sebastian was a grown man.
"You are never too old to protect what is yours," said Tristan as his eyes gazed upon her body.
"While I appreciate your concern, the only man in my life right now is my son, "Jazmine said as she thought of Huey.
"Now would you get off my case please? "Jazmine asked nicely.
"Okay, if you say so" Tristan said, he didn't believe her, but he decided to drop the subject.
For now.
"Your son is waiting for you" Jazmine said, trying to kick him out.
Tristan corrected her . " 'OUR SON'. And we'll be back soon,"
'Okay,' Jazmine said as she turned her body towards the sink.
Tristan seemed to be leaving when she felt him behind her.
"Tristan.. "She retorted with an attitude, 'What are you doing!"
He didn't say a word as he leaned over and kissed her cheek.
"Thank you for breakfast," he said, before backing up. Jazmine squeezed the counter feeling stunned by his actions.
Tristan smirked as he felt satisfied with her reaction.
"I'll see you when I get back" He said before walking away.
Jazmine remained silent as she touched her cheek where he had kissed her.
What the hell has gotten into him, she thought.
Huey was in the lounge room of his hotel suite watching the news when he ached to text Jazmine.
I can't stop thinking about you.
Grinning, he knew it would bring a smile to her face. From the moment he left her house, he couldn't stop thinking about the night they had. The rounds of great love making, and wild sex replayed in his mind.
He was whipped and he didn't have any shame.
He checked to see if she responded, to see if she had viewed the message, but there was no response back. After five minutes, he found himself texting her again.
Wyd? When you have a moment, please give me a call.
Huey sighed while putting the phone back in his pocket. As he was no longer interested in watching TV, he grabbed the remote and turned it off. He was about to take a shower when he felt his phone vibrate.
Jazmine was calling him!
A smile poured over his face while he answered the call.
"Hey beautiful, " he said smoothly.
"Hey, we need to talk, Jazmine said in an urgent tone.
"Alright, let's have a conversation. Come over to my suite. We can talk there and more," He bit his lip as he thought of things he would do to her.
"Huey.. It's not about last night. There's something else I need to tell you, " Jazmine said as Huey's ears perked up in interest.
"I'm listening " Huey said.
Jazmine paused as she hesitated to tell him.
"Sebastian's father came by this morning "
"He did what now?" Huey's voice rose out of jealousy.
"He called this morning to suggest that he come over for breakfast. To sum it up, he wants you and Nina to come over to my place for dinner tonight," Jazmine explained a little bit.
"What time? " Huey said with no hesitation.
"Around nine," Jazmine said.
"Okay. Is he still there now? " Huey asked as he wasn't too fond of the idea of her being around her ex.
"He and Sebastian left to get groceries for dinner, "Jazmine explained. He heard her sigh deeply.
"What's wrong? " Huey said, knowing that something was bothering her..
".It's just... Tristan, he's..." She paused like she was struggling to say something.
" He's what?" He said, balling his fist.
"He's finally bonding with Sebastian " Jazmine said as her tone changed.
Huey felt as though she was holding back something.
"Oh yeah? Jazz, that's great. Is there anything else you'd like to tell me? " Huey asked, hoping she would open up.
Well, I do have a question for you, " Jazmine asked.
"What's that? " Huey said.
" As I previously mentioned. Sebastian and his father are avid meat eaters, but I was planning on making a side dish for us. Any ideas about what you want to eat? "Jazmine asked.
"I'll love to eat you again, "he said, biting his lip.
"Huey.." Jazmine said getting excited.
"You love saying my name, don't you? Huey said. "I love hearing you moan and scream it"
"Huey Freeman, you need to behave yourself, "Jazmine said as he knew she was turned on.
"Dubois, I can't help myself. I wanna be inside you again" Huey said in a desperate way as he felt his dick twitch.
"I told you wasn't hitting this again Freeman" Jazmine said challenging him.
"You want me to beg for it DuBois? " Huey asked.
"I want you to behave, " Jazmine said in a motherly tone.
"Damn Jazmine, let me show you how much I love you," Huey begged.
"Huey for God's sake." Jazmine closed her eyes as she felt tingling inside.
"I want you baby " Huey said desperately.
"I want you too, but could we keep things discreet until we have time to figure this out," Jazmine asked.
"Okay, We can do that" Huey said smirking.
He heard Jazmine sighing in relief.
"Well. I have to get going now. I'll see you tonight" Jazmine announced.
"See you tonight...I love you " Huey said.
She paused on the other end then said. "I love you too.
Once they ended the call, He couldn't stop smiling. He couldn't wait to see her, he desired to touch and hold her again. But he knew he couldn't do these things in the presence of Nina or Sebastian. Jazmine was correct, they had to keep things hidden. He had to be on his best behavior because they couldn't let the kids suspect anything.
Nonetheless, he pondered what her ex-husband was like. Jazmine always spoke highly of him, but something was telling him otherwise. He was uncertain about what to anticipate, but he hopes things will go smoothly.
Sebastian was sitting in the passenger seat of his father's car when suddenly his father stopped in a random parking lot.
Sebastian looked around in confusion. "Dad.. This doesn't look like a supermarket, he said.
Tristan laughed as he set the car to park mode.
"I know that, son. We'll get there in a minute, but first I have a bone to pick with you"
"What you mean? 'Sebastian asked, with no understanding of the term.
Tristian chuckled softly "In other words, we need to talk Son"
"We already talk during breakfast," Sebastian said.
"Nah. I held back a lot of things because your mother was present, but this is only between us men, as Tristan pointed out.
"Okay. So.. What you want to talk about? ?" Sebastian asked.
"To start with, I'm curious as to why your so anger with me.," Tristan asked.
"I'm not angry with you,' Sebastian said, looking away as he denied it.
"Don't lie to me, Son. You have not answered any of my calls or texts. I don't get any house visits from you. And whenever I do get a chance to speak to you, I get attitude and talk back. Now I'm going to give you another chance to be straight with me"
"I said what I said," said Sebastián.
Tristan sighed deeply. " Listen Son. I know you mad at me for what happened between your mother and I. But just know that none of this "
Sebastian rolled his eyes. "I know.. none of this is my fault, and you both love me. I heard this all from Mama already,"
"That's true Son. We do love you, and it was never your fault.' Tristan said.
"I know it's not my fault,' Sebastian said as he glared at him. "This is all your wrong doing,"
"Okay, and why do you feel that way? "Tristan asked.
"Because I had to see it with my own eyes. Although you may think I was too young to comprehend, I had a clear understanding of what was happening. While you were out there fucking god knows who, mom was alone crying herself to sleep every night" Sebastian revealed angrily.
Tristan's eyes widened as he was unaware of this.
"After all the things she's done for you, how could you cheat on Mama? Then you had the audacity to marry the woman you were cheating on her with," Sebastian said as he became angrier.
"While you were out there living your best life, Mama was sitting at home depressed. She tried to act like she was okay with it, but I can see the pain in her eyes. She would hold back tears every time she tried to tell me that it was for the best. " Sebastian mentioned as he held back tears.
Tristan was take aback as Sebastian continued.
"You gave up your duties as a husband and father for a woman who is twice your age. You have no idea how humiliated I felt when I found out my stepmother was only five years older than me," Sebastian exclaimed.
"All I ever wanted was for us to be a happy family, but you had to mess it up, so to answer your question. I am angry with you because you choose young pussy over your family," Sebastian said boldly.
Tristan nodded his head as he understood Sebastian's disappointment.
"Sebastian, I'm sorry I've disappointed you. I never intended to cause you or your mom any grief. What you didn't know was that your mother and I tried to salvage our marriage before deciding to separate. Our decision to open our marriage was based on our belief that a sudden divorce would tarnish your upbringing. It means we were broken up emotionally, and we could date other people. Although we were still living together, your mother and I slept in different rooms. I had no idea your mother was upset about this arrangement. She has never expressed any concerns to me" Tristian explained.
"As far as Diane, you're right, I did emotionally cheat on your mother while we were married, but I didn't sleep with her until your mother and I were separated. I realize that you are uncomfortable by the fact that I married someone 20 years younger, and I have my share of regrets for it. But I need you to understand that I didn't fall for her because she was younger. She simply had qualities that I enjoyed in a woman," Tristan confirmed.
"Yeah right " Sebastian muttered under his breath.
" Don't be mistaken, I love your mother and I still think she's one of the most beautiful woman I've laid eyes on. I felt unsatisfied with her because it always felt like she was unhappy with me. She and I would argue about the smallest things and she would occasionally distance herself from me. I also acted in a manner that caused her distress. In the end, I lost hope for us workout and it just felt easier to be with Diane. " Tristan explained as Sebastian rolled his eyes.
"As time passed, I realized that things were not as great as I had imagined. And now I honestly wish I would have fought harder to keep our family together. ." Tristan revealed.
Sebastian's brow raised. "What do you mean by that? I thought you were happy with Diane,"
"I was for a good while, now things have changed and now I find myself constantly thinking about your mother," Tristan's words were filled with regret.
Dad still had feelings for Mama? Sebastian thought as he was shocked.
"Have you told Ma about this? Sebastian asked.
Tristian said as he sighed: 'No, and you can't repeat this to her. Your mother has found happiness and I wouldn't dare take it from her.'
"So you're going to stay with Diane?" Sebastian asked, disappointed.
"My last marriage taught me that you can't give up easily. You have to try to make it work, and that's what I intend to do, " although he is uncertain.
"That's what thought "Sebastian scoffed.
"But, Son, that doesn't mean we can't still be a family. Your mother and I are good friends now. Our love and support for each other is still present. We may not be a couple, but we are a team when it comes to you," Tristan explained as Sebastian smacked his teeth..
" My only request is for your forgiveness and a fair chance to be a better father, Tristan said as Sebastian sighed deeply.
Tristan looked at Sebastian sincerely. "Despite my mistakes, I'm willing to do anything to rectify them, So what do you say, will you give me another chance?"
Upon thinking about it, Sebastian realized that he was still hurt by his father's actions and it would take more than a few words to grant him forgiveness. He gained a deeper understanding of his father, and he respected that his father acknowledged his mistakes. For that reason, he was open to giving him a second chance.
"Okay, I'll give you another chance,"He said as his father smiled with joy.
"Now that's what I'm talking about!"Tristian exclaimed, as he started the car.
Tristian said, 'Thank you, son,' wiping a tear from his corner of the eye.
"You're welcome... Dad," said Sebastian as he finally felt comfortable calling him Dad.
After an hour of food shopping, Tristan took Sebastian for another ride. He took his to a tuxedo shop where he tried on a few. During that time, he and Sebastian had a chance to discuss his financial situation regarding the wedding. Once Sebastian mentioned that his mother would loan him the money, Tristan offered to take care of the wedding finances. The two were making their way back to Jazmine's house when a thought came to Tristan's mind.
"So what is Nina's father like?" He randomly asked.
Sebastian is taken aback by his question. "I thought he was an ass in the beginning, but now he's not so bad"
"Oh, so he didn't take a liking to you? Tristan asked curiously.
"Nina mentioned that it's the same for all her boyfriends, so I tried not to take it personally. However, He did get under my skin a few times," Sebastian admitted to it.
"Oh, did he now?" Tristan said..
"Yeah. It annoyed me that he didn't appear to have faith in my future with Nina. His smart remarks would make me feel like a complete idiot," Sebastian cringed at the memory.
"Sounds like I need to have a little chat with Nina's father," Tristan said in a threatening tone.
"While he can be a jerk at times, I have noticed that he is slowly warming up to me. So It's all cool now," He said as he didn't want things to get heated between his dad and Mr. Freeman.
"That's good. How was it when he met your mother? "Tristan asked with deep interest.
Sebastian chuckled a bit. "It's funny actually. When he met Mama, it was like he was a different person. His demeanor changed. He was kind and talkative. If you ask me, I think he finds Mama attractive"
Tristan tightly squeezed the steering wheel. "You don't say, " he mumbled. "So what was your mother's reaction? "
" Mama was acting all quiet and shy, which was surprising since she's usually very talkative," Sebastian mentioned. "But eventually she seemed comfortable and they wouldn't stop talking" He said as he remembered they couldn't take their eyes off each other that night.
"Yeah? You think your mother found him attractive as well? " Tristan asked, concealing his jealousy.
Sebastian made a face. " I mean, Mr. Freeman is not a bad looking dude, so I wouldn't be surprised, but Nina was a little concerned about them hooking up. But I don't think it will go that far, besides that would be kind of weird,"Sebastian said that as the thought made him feel gross.
"Yeah, I believe your mother has more dignity than to sleep with your fiancé's father," Tristan said as the thought angered him.
"Yes," Sebastian said, thinking of the possibilities. When he arrived at his mom's house, he noticed Mr. Freeman's car parked in the driveway. Upon entering his mother's room, he noticed that things were out of place.
For instance, the bed was made sloppy, which was unlikely since his mom was a neat freak. He could have sworn he spotted her panties lying on the floor and the curls on her head were wild, like she had had to crawl out of bed.
It's strange that his mother wore a robe, as she usually wakes up first thing in the morning dressed and prepared.
Could she had spent the night with Mr. Freeman?
Hell naw.
He didn't believe his mother would do such a thing, plus he didn't see any sign of Huey and his mother wasn't the kind to lie.
He believed her.
"Mama is a classy woman. She doesn't lay on her back, "Sebastian said proudly.
Tristan smiled " Yeah, she is classy, but she's also a freak in the sheets" he said thinking of their wildest moments. "Trust me, I had my fair share"
'Ew' Sebastian said as he wanted to gag. 'I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that,' he said as the thought of his parents having sex came to mind.
"I remember the time you walked in on us. Boy, was your mom embarrassed" Tristan chuckled while speaking.
"Oh I know, she cried for days about it, "Sebastian said as he remembered. "I was furious because I thought you were harming Mama, but after you explained how grownups express love in ways that a child won't comprehend. Despite my age and understanding of sex, it still disturbed me when y'all did it. I know my mama wasn't no virgin, but she's still my mama. I mean She gives me kisses in the morning," Sebastian said.
Tristan laughed hysterically, then he said. "Those were the good old days, right? "
"Yeah, it was minus you guys having sex" Sebastian admitted. At one point, his parents seem happy and in love. He wishes things would have never changed.
After they returned home, his father assisted his mother in the kitchen. He watched as they would fuss at each on how to properly cook the steak. His dad had Marvin Gaye playing on the radio, dancing and lip singing to his mama, which made her call him a fool. However, it was alright because it eventually brought a smile on her face. Those moments had Sebastian thinking of Nina and how she longed for her parents to be together again. Sebastian can relate to her because now..
He misses the idea of having his family back.
