Hi Readers: Sorry for the skip, but I decided that this is what I want to do for the story; I want them to be in their own place during the entirety of this story. And that means that I need to do some skipping at times, including the one between the last chapter and this one. And I think I can say that it will be the last one for a while, especially when I want to write this bad. Thanks again for reading.

Chapter Thirteen
Valentine's Day in Our New Home

New Casey Home, Palmer Square – Valentine's Day 2019
"How bad was it last night?" That was the question at the top of Matt's mind this morning, as he sat in the living room of his and Gabby's new home with his mother-in-law (who stayed over the night before) while they shared a cup of coffee; while also talking about how things were last night, when Gabby was having a bunch of morning sickness in the middle of the night. And, of course, it had to happen (a) while he was at work, and (b) on the night before Valentine's Day. So, she obviously wasn't going to be up for anything tonight; then again, he doesn't exactly need anything. Not when his beautiful wife is already ten weeks along with their baby. Their child, who he can't wait to meet. "Yes. She tried to tell me to leave last night after we had dinner, but I made sure to stay like you asked." Matt agreed with Camila as she said that, smiling as he was glad that she did. "And I'm glad you did, especially since I see you also decided to unpack a bit." Camila agreed. "I wanted to help. Still find it odd that all the bedrooms are downstairs." Matt nodded, while also correcting her for the record. "Correction, all of the guest/kids bedrooms are downstairs; our bedroom is just down the hall." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he reminded her of that, well aware that was the case as she got the tour yesterday.

Gabby gave her the entire tour, because she helped her unpack if you recall. "By the way, should we really be talking this loud when Gabby's asleep?" Matt sighed, as he just thought about that; especially when he heard his wife's voice. "Thanks for the roses baby." Turning his head when he heard Gabby say that, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves. "Hey, I was just thinking about you." Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt as he said that, while also watching as he set his coffee down on the side table next to their couch. After which, he made his way over to her; meanwhile, they both smiled at each other. "I have to say, I'm a bit surprised that you're awake this early. I just got home." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know, I heard you close the door." Matt smiled, agreeing with his beautiful wife as she told him that, while he got close to her today. And as he got close to her, he made sure to wrap his arms around his wife and smirked as he placed his hands on her butt; at the same time, Gabby wrapped her arms around his back and smiled as she stared up into his eyes. "How was shift?" Bending down, Matt smirked as he kissed the woman he loves softly. After which, he started to take things slow with her; not at all caring that his mother-in-law was still there.

And neither did Gabby, as she loved sharing a kiss with her husband; just likes how she loves to hear about his day. "It went well, it was nice to be back; but I'm not Captain Casey right now, I'm your husband and today is Valentine's Day. And believe me when I say this, I'm going to do it right." Gabby smiled, agreeing with her husband. "Oh, I know you are especially since I already saw tonight's menu." Matt was confused when he heard Gabby say that, while she walked away from him to go hug her mother. "How did you see the menu?" Gabby laughed. "Maybe next time, don't order groceries with our Valentine's Day dinner ingredients." Face-palming, Matt shook his head as he felt stupid over having done that. I mean, of course Gabby's going to figure that out. "God, I am such an idiot at times." Sighing, Gabby looked at the man she loves. After all, that was the last thing that he was. "Baby, you're not an idiot. Please don't say that. And just take a breath. I promise, everything's okay. It's all good." Matt agreed with his wife as she told him that, well aware that was the case as he looked at her. Meanwhile, she made her way back over to him and just smiled as she wrapped her arms around him once more. At the same time, Matt placed his hand on the bath of her head and smiled as he kissed it. "I love you."

Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that he loves her. "Want to know how you can show me that you love me?" Matt nodded. "You can go make me and our baby some breakfast. Because, unlike you, I didn't get to eat at the firehouse this morning." Matt shook his head. "I didn't eat there other than a snack, I saved breakfast for when I was here." Camila agreed with Matt. "I can attest to that. However, I think that you should get cooking Matt as Gabby needs to eat; just like I need to leave, because I do not want to interrupt this time you guys have." Gabby smiled as she heard her mom say that, before hugging her. "Thanks mom, I appreciate that." Camila nodded. "Don't worry, I'm going to be back in a couple days when you're still tired." Gabby looked at her mom as she said that. "I swear to god Mija, if you tell your husband that you unpacked most of those things…" Matt then went to finish her sentence. "He's going to know you're lying, and very mad if that was the truth since you need rest." Camila agreed with Matt as he said that. "Which is precisely what I told you yesterday, when you tried to help me as much as you did." Sighing at the same time, Matt, and Gabby both looked at each other. "How about you let your mom out and say your goodbyes? You want me to make you some tea?"

Gabby smiled. "Herbal Mint?" Matt nodded, well aware that was one of Gabby's favorite teas this month. "You got it. Now, how about you let your mom out and come see me. I want to spend time with my beautiful wife and son." Looking at her daughter as she stood at the door, Camila was confused. After all, she was certain that it was far too early for them to know the gender; something which she decided to state as she put her coat on. "Last time I checked, it was far too early to find out the gender of the baby in utero." Gabby snickered as her mom said that, as it most certainly is far too early. "Yes, but Matt's convinced that it's a boy." Matt nodded. "I want to have a son so that I can continue the name." Camila agreed with Matt, as she knew how important that was to bed. "Oh, how important that is to men." Gabby laughed, well aware that was the case. "Wasn't it dad that wanted to change the tradition?" Camila nodded. "And we liked it so much that it stuck. Now, listen. I love talking to you, and I love spending time with you; but I would much rather let you guys have the time you want and deserve here with each other now that Matt's home. You guys need to just take it easy and relax." Gabby agreed with her mom as she said that, well aware that was the case. "C'mon mom, I'll let you out."

Camila agreed, smiling as she followed her out. While at the same time, Gabby wrapped her arms around her mom's and smiled. "I'm so grateful you came; I truly enjoyed the alone time that I got with you." Camila agreed with her daughter as she said that, smiling as she felt the same way. "I loved it too Mija. I want to spend time with you like that some more, before you have the baby and get too busy." Gabby agreed with her mother, well aware that was the case. "Well, you do live down the street." Yes, her mother lives down the street from them; something which Matt just realized. "God, that's why you wanted this place." Turning to look at her husband, Gabby just gave him a glare that always makes him shut up, which is precisely what he did once more. He shut up, as he didn't want to get in trouble with his wife. "Listen, we can always get together Gabby. And take it easy on Matt, every man loves to get time alone with his wife." Matt nodded, as that was the truth. "I agree 100% with you on that Camila." Camila agreed with Matt, smiling. "See you another time Matt." Matt agreed with Camila. After which, he remembered something. "Oh, I work on Saturday; but maybe Sunday, I can come by and check on the drain problem you mentioned to me." Camila agreed. "Maybe you guys can stay for lunch or dinner?"

Gabby smiled. "We'll talk about it mom. I promise." Turning to look at Matt, Gabby was very happy that he just offered to do that for her moment. So happy, that she was going to reward him a bit when she's done letting her mom out of their home. After all, that's what her husband wants. He wants to be rewarded a bit for being such a great man. And she truly means that. Matt is the best man in the entire world, and she's incredibly proud that she has the honor of calling him her husband; something which she's more than ready to do for the rest of their lives. A life which will be lived, here in Chicago; in this home where they plan on raising (and eventually growing) their family for the rest of their lives. And it's also the place Gabby plans on giving her husband some attention today, as she loves him so much and is hormonal. She's always hormonal now thanks to him getting her pregnant, and she absolutely loves it.

She was finally starting to show now that she was 10 weeks pregnant, something which her husband very much loved; especially when he held her close, just like he is at the moment. He's holding her in his arms, as they cuddled up to each other in the kitchen; with Gabby just wearing her sexy lingerie, while he was still dressed. Yet, they both knew that he wasn't going to be dressed all day. Rather, he was going to get undressed at some point; they just didn't know when yet. In fact, Matt was just thinking of taking it easy for a while, which is something that he planned on telling his beautiful wife. "Listen, as much as I love how sexy you look in this lingerie…I can tell that you're also still tired babe." Gabby sighed as she looked up at Matt. "I may have overdone it yesterday. I did some chores around the house, and I spent a lot more time with my mom than expected. Hell, I don't think I went to bed until after midnight." Matt was surprised as he heard Gabby say that, before placing his hand on the back of her head. He then just held her as he rocked her. Kissing her forehead afterwards, Matt smiled as he looked at the woman of her loves; the woman of his dreams, whom he wants to hold in his arms for the rest of his life. But he doesn't need to do it right now if she's tired, as he can hold her in bed instead.

Well, not right now; but when he's done making her breakfast he can. "Listen, I don't want you to stay here if you're tired Gabby. I'd rather you go lay down in bed and just take it easy. Please, don't feel like you need to be up just because I'm home. I'd rather you sleep and take it easy, rather than be awake and tired." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that he felt that way; and that he wasn't just saying that to be kid, but that he truly meant it. He'd much rather she take it easy and relax, so that she can get the rest she needs; than have her be up and out of bed, where she needs to waste more energy than needed out here. "The truth is, I think I'm more interested in a day in bed." Matt snickered as he wrapped his arms around Gabby. After all, he had a feeling that they were going to be spending the day in bed anyways. And that meant that he was going to get a bunch of sexy time from Gabby in bed. "Sexy time?" Gabby laughed as Matt asked her that question, before wrapping her arms around his muscular body. "I was thinking, movie marathon cuddle time in bed." Matt looked at Gabby as she said that. "Hallmark Channel?" Gabby smiled, as she loved his suggestion that they watch the Hallmark Channel today. "Baby, I love that suggestion. What a great idea!" Matt agreed with Gabby.

After all, he knew that he was going to get roped into it the moment he brought it up. So, the reason he brought it up? He had no idea. All he knows, is that he's going to be a very happy man if he just gets to hold the woman he loves in his arms today. And that's precisely what he's going to get to do with Gabby, just not at this very moment as she walked over to the fridge to grab something. "What are you doing babe?" Sighing, Gabby went to grab herself some water. "I need some water." Matt agreed with Gabby as he turned around and then went to check on the eggs that he was making for her. "We're doing scrambled eggs, right?" Gabby agreed with her husband as she made her way over to the cupboard with the glasses, before going to grab one for herself; after which, she turned her head and looked at Matt. "I'm having orange juice, you want some?" Matt shook his head. "I was going to have coffee." Gabby just glared at her husband, as he knows what the smell of coffee does to her now that she's pregnant. "Actually, on second thought, I'd love some OJ." Gabby agreed with Matt as she grabbed two glasses for the both of them. "Good answer." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that he almost got in trouble with his answer. "You can drink it at the firehouse, just not here."

Matt agreed with his wife as he went to grab the eggs that he already took out, opening the carton; prior to opening one of the cupboards to grab a mixing bowl and spoon, which they keep together since they always use them together. "I am so glad that you convinced me to keep all this together, looks much nicer." Gabby laughed. "I mostly did it for myself, being lazy right now." Turning around when he heard Gabby say that, Matt shook his head as that was the last thing that Gabby was. "Gabby don't say that. You aren't lazy right now, you're tired because you're creating a life; that takes a lot of energy out of a woman." Gabby agreed with Matt, before smirking. "So, would you say that I work more than you?" Matt snickered. "Yeah, that isn't going to be true any day since I work at the firehouse, and I take care of you 24/7." Matt then realized just how bad that sounded the moment it came out of his mouth, so he made sure to apologize to his wife. "That came out wrong, because I love taking care of you since you're pregnant with our child." Gabby agreed with her husband. "I love you." Gabby smirked and agreed with Matt as he said that. "I love you too." Matt smiled.

After which, he decided to offer to make this meal breakfast in bed. "If you want, I can make this breakfast in bed." Gabby smiled, as that was something that she loved the idea of. Him making it breakfast-in-bed. "I love the sound of you making that as breakfast-in-bed if I want to go lay down in bed. Might even put on some cozy PJs and relax." Extending his hand, Matt motioned for Gabby to get close to him as he wanted to speak to her. And that was something that Gabby already knew, as she made her way over to her husband this morning. "Hey, everything okay?" Grabbing Gabby's hand, Matt nodded as everything is okay; it'll always be okay. He just wanted to talk to her quickly. "I just want to talk to you about something quick." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling as she looked up at the man she loves; while he got close to her and wrapped his arms around her again. Pressing his lips to her forehead, Matt smiled at the woman he loves before staring down into her eyes. "Gabby, I hope you know that I love taking care of you. I will never complain, because I love you and I want this baby with you." Gabby agreed with her husband, smiling at him as she leaned up and kissed him softly; while Matt placed his hand on her neck as they took things slow with each other right now.

However, he wasn't ready to take things slow with her just yet; after all, he does want to say something. "Gabby, I want to say something quick. I want you to know that I want you to get the rest you need, rather than feel the need to get all hot and sexy with me. If you don't want to get sexy with me today, on Valentine's Day, then that's fine; because I know that it's due to the fact that you're tired, due to the fact that you're pregnant with our baby…" Matt said the last part, while also placing his hands on her stomach; which led Gabby to stepping close to him and placing her hands on his arms as she looked up into his gorgeous eyes. "Gabby, all I want is for you to be healthy. That's all that matters to me at the end of the day. I love you, and that's all we need to concentrate on. The fact that I want you to be healthy; both for your sake, and for the sake of our child." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she cuddled up to him and laid her head down on his chest. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on the back of her head and bent down to kiss the top of her head. "Baby, go back to bed and get some rest, okay? I'll take care of breakfast, then we can have breakfast in bed."

Gabby agreed with Matt, as that most certainly is something which she can do for the man she loves; she can go relax. However, she's not having breakfast in bed. "I might actually go sit on the couch downstairs. You know, the nice sectional we got? We can cuddle on there, just hold each other there today. It'll allow us to take it easy and just relax." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he really liked that idea. "We need to explore our house more, anyways." Gabby laughed, smiling as she kissed him softly. Meanwhile, Matt just took things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams. The woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that he loves her, was that was something which she most certainly already knew; she knew that he loves her, based on the way that he always treats her. "I know that you love me baby, especially since I always have a part of you with me every minute of the day." Backing up from Matt, Gabby held his hand for a moment and just smiled; doing the same, Matt was just so happy over the fact that she's pregnant with their child. "Woman and child of my dreams." Gabby smiled and agreed with Matt before walking away so that she can go downstairs and just take it easy for a bit. Meanwhile, Matt turned around and started to make eggs.

Matt's Thoughts:
As I made me and Gabby some breakfast this morning for Valentine's Day, I couldn't help but smile due to the fact that I'm just so happy right now; this truly is the life that I've always wanted for me and Gabby, especially the part where she's pregnant with our child. Our little baby who will carry on my last name another generation. And there's truly something in me that just believes that we're going to have a son, not that I'd ever be mad that we have a daughter first. If anything, I'd be more than okay with us having a daughter first. That's all I need at the end of the day. I want to have a baby. I want to have a child who me and Gabby can love with all our hearts, as that's precisely what I feel like we've been owed for a long time. We've been owed the family we've wanted for the longest time. And now that Gabby's pregnant, we're finally going to get it; we're finally going to get the family of our dreams this summer. And that's truly something magical. As is the time that I get to spend with Gabby, which most certainly doesn't always need to happen in bed; we can explore our home as we spend time together. That way, we can relax and take it easy everywhere here.

We can get used to the rooms in our home that we like, especially the rec room downstairs; because when the kids are older, I can already see us spending a lot of time down there. In fact, it was one of the reasons that we bought the place; because of the potential we saw for that room. Not only did we see it as a room where we can relax and not have to worry about keeping it clean, but we also saw it as a future playroom for the kids. Anyways, their bedrooms are all going to be down there. Yes, you heard that right; the kids' bedrooms are going to be in the basement. And while we were a bit apprehensive about doing it this way at first, we realized that it was just one floor. It was no different than us sitting in the living room up here, and them being downstairs. We can easily go get them, because we're going to have a baby monitor on them at all times. And even then, they aren't going to be sleeping down there for at least a year. And that's just the truth, because we're going to want to keep them close to us for as long as possible, which is precisely what I want to do even now, when I hope the woman I love close to me and put my hand on her stomach. Our baby's current home.

God, the miracles that a woman's body can do; I mean, they can literally create human beings. And that's just something that I am so glad that I get to experience with Gabby, the love of my life; this truly is the life of my dreams, and I am so glad that we're going to spend it with each other until we die (of old age) in each other's arms. Hopefully, with a son and grandson nearby, that way, my family name won't end with me, but will instead be guaranteed to last another three generations after me. But, at the end of the day, that's not why me and Gabby are having children; it has nothing to do with my last name and is instead related to the fact that we want to have children because we want to raise them. We want to have that experience with each other, which we most certainly will, because there's nobody else in this entire world who I want to raise a family with; other than my beautiful wife, Ms. Gabriela Marie Casey. Her new, official name. The name which she goes by all the time, just like we agreed to; and in fact, her doing that has had the exact effect on her that I always thought it would. It reminded her that she doesn't need to be independent and can rely on me now.

Hell, she even relies on other people more too; at least, that's the comment which I've received from other people. And I'm glad that's the case, because that's a huge change for Gabby. It's just done wonders both for our relationship, as well as her life in general. I can already tell that it's made her life much easier, because I know that there's (probably) less stress it in, all related to the fact that she has more help. She has people on her side all the time, who love her and want to help her to the best of their abilities; and first in line to do that is myself, always will be due to the fact that I love my wife more than anything in the entire world.

And not just because she's pregnant, contrary to what Sylvie most recently said to the new paramedic when they first met.

I love Gabby because we've been through a lot together, and because we complete each other; she brought me out of a dark place after Hallie died, and she just understands me better than anybody. And there's truly nobody else I'd rather have by my side, as my partner in this life, in marriage, and as the future mother of my children; if anybody can do that job without any flaws, then it would be my wife because of how much she truly loves me. I just can't wait to hear her laugh after she hears what Sylvie said to the new paramedic. But little did I know, she already know about it; and was going to be the one to bring it up before me.
