It's been a few hours since Jennifer and the boys got home from the park. After she laid Thomas down for his nap, she walked across the room and sat down on the chair as she quietly watched Abel color in his coloring book. Earlier today, when they were enjoying the day at the park, Abel asked when he could visit his mommy. Jennifer wasn't sure how to answer that, so she told him that she'd talk to his grandma about it, but of course she isn't sure how that's going to go. Jennifer wishes she could do more for Abel, but unfortunately the only person he needs more than anything right now is his father.
Jennifer had only met Jax this morning and she could already tell he was still hurting. Jennifer didn't really know much about this family, considering she'd only been working with Gemma for a few weeks now. But she could see how much they were all still hurting over Tara's death. Especially Abel. Thomas is still too young to understand. Jennifer can't really do much. All she can do is be there for the boys.
Hearing a knock at the front door, Jennifer exhaled softly as she got up from the chair and walked out of the room. She went to see who was knocking on Gemma's door. Walking towards the front door, Jennifer reached for the doorknob and pulled the door open; she noticed a woman she had never seen before standing on Gemma's doorstep.
"Can I help you?" Jennifer asked as she shook her head for a moment.
"Yes, I am a friend of the family's. My name is Wendy Case. Gemma knows that I'm here."
Jennifer nodded her head slightly as she moved to the side and let Wendy inside. "Sorry, Gemma made me promise not to let anyone else in while she isn't home. I'm Jennifer by the way." She introduced herself as she closed the door behind her.
" Yeah, I know Gemma told me she hired you to help out with the boys."
Jennifer nods her head a little." Want some coffee?" She offered as she walked into the kitchen.
" Yeah thanks." Wendy said as she followed Jennifer into the kitchen." So how long have been working For Gemma?"She asked as she sat down at the kitchen table.
" Only for about two weeks." Jennifer answered as she walked over to the kitchen table and sat down across from Wendy after she placed two coffee cups down on the table.
Wendy nods her head a little as she took a sip of her coffee before setting her cup down." Well, the reason why I'm here is because I sorta let a friend stay in my apartment for now, so I told Gemma that I would be staying here with her. I also told her that I would like to help out with the boys. I mean if don't mind me helping out?"
Jennifer shook her head as she set her cup down after taking a sip of her coffee. "Of course I don't mind," she said with a chuckle. "Those boys can definitely be a handful sometimes."
"Where are the boys?" Wendy asked; they were the main reason why she had come over in the first place.
" They're in the back room. Thomas is sleeping and Abel is coloring in his coloring book."
Wendy nodded her head again. "How's Abel been holding up?"
Jennifer sighed deeply as she shook her head. "When I first met him, he was quiet. Didn't really say much. But after a while, he started to warm up to me and started talking. He was a lot happier this morning when his dad was home."
Wendy asked curiously, "You've already met Jax?"
Jennifer nodded her head."Yeah, I met him this morning. He was supposed to come home yesterday, but Gemma said he had some business to take care of at the club and he didn't get home until really late last night."
Getting up from the table, Wendy walked over to the kitchen sink and set her empty coffee cup in it. "I'm going to go say hi to Abel," she said with a nod as she walked out of the kitchen, heading towards the back room.
Jennifer had only met Wendy for about twenty minutes, but after just five minutes of conversation, she already felt like Wendy was trying to figure her out, especially with all the questions she kept asking her. However, Jennifer wasn't going to worry about it. After all, they barely knew each other, and perhaps they could at least become friends.
Hearing footsteps behind him, Juice quickly drew his gun and quickly turned around, but suddenly jumped when he saw Gemma standing in front of him. "Jesus, you scared the hell out of me. What are you doing here?" He asked as he dropped his hand and gun.
" Wendy came by TM earlier. You told her that I was, hiding you from the club? What else did you tell her?"
He said, "That they want me dead." Juice answered with a sigh as he dropped down on the couch.
"Shit, Juice," she says, pinching the bridge of her nose.
" Wendy was gonna kick me out. But don't worry I bought myself til tonight."
I'll talk to Wendy, and don't worry about leaving tonight. Wendy's staying with me. So you still have some time. But you still need to go soon, before Jax or the club finds you." Gemma said as she pulled out some cash from her purse and handed it out for him to take.
" What's that for?"
" It's for you when you leave in a few days."
Juice nodded his head as he took the cash from Gemma's hands. "What do you think will happen if Jax and the club ever finds out about the truth? About what we did?" Juice whispered, looking down at the cash in his hands.
" I know what will happen Juice, we both will be dead." Gemma knows exactly what will happen if Jax and the club ever found out that she was the one who actually killed Tara and not the Chinese, and that's why she's doing everything she can to keep them from finding out the truth.
Juice nodded his head again as he exhaled deeply."If I haven't said it before, I really do appreciate you helping me, so thank you Gemma." He said looking up at her.
" You killed Roosevelt for me before he had a chance to call it in and you got rid of the murder weapon. So, I kind figured that I owed you one." Gemma said as she sat down beside Juice and place her hand against his arm." So, you just keep it together for a few more days and stop chatting up with the junkie."
Yeah," Juice said with a chuckle. He then sighed. "You don't think Wendy would actually tell Jax, do you?"
Gemma sighed deeply as she shook her head." I honestly don't know." Gemma really wasn't sure what Wendy might end up telling Jax. But hopefully for her sake and for Wendy's own sake, she wouldn't have to tell Jax anything.
Walking through Gemma's kitchen door after handling business with the club, Jax found Jennifer the new Nanny sitting at the kitchen table along with his sons and his ex wife Wendy who's supposed to be in rehab or at least that was what he was told.
"Daddy!" Abel exclaimed as he jumped off of his chair and ran towards Jax, wrapping his arms around his neck as soon as Jax picked him up. "Guess what?" he asked with a grin on his face." Wendy's staying here for awhile."
You're staying here? Does Gemma know? Jax asked, raising his eyebrows in question.
" I am just helping out Jax, and yeah she knows."
Setting Abel down on his feet, Jax turned to Jennifer. "Can you take the boys into the room, please?" he asked. Jax doesn't want to have this conversation in front of all of them, especially Abel.He couldn't ever really trust Wendy. Their problems in their marriage, including her drug addiction, were always there.
Come on, Abel," Jennifer whispered softly as she took his hand and led him out of the kitchen with Thomas. She wanted to give Jax and Wendy some privacy. Jennifer wasn't sure what was happening between them, but she could tell there was history between them.
" I thought you were in rehab." Jax said as he sat across from her at the kitchen table.
Wendy nodded her head."I was, but after what happened to Tara, I didn't feel right staying. I had to come and help. Besides, we both know that Gemma really can't take care of those boys by herself, and I think it's great that she hired Jennifer to help out. But it's not the same."
" What happened to my wife really isn't your concern and you helping out, I really don't think it's a good idea Wendy."
"Look, Jax. I know you don't trust me around your sons, especially around Abel. And because of my past, I understand why you feel that way. But all I want to do is help in any way I can; that's all. Honestly, at this point, it doesn't matter whether Abel knows who I am or not. It's not about that anymore."
Jax ran a hand down his face as he exhales deeply." This doesn't change anything Wendy. Just because you're helping out doesn't mean that I fully trust you or I ever will." He said as he got up from the table and walked out of the kitchen to check on his sons.
Jennifer was in the middle of reading Abel a bedtime story when she looked up and noticed Jax walking into the room. Closing the book Jennifer looks over at Abel." I will see you tomorrow buddy." She said as she set the book down and got up.
" Thank you for staying with them and helping out."
Jennifer nodded her head."They're great kids, especially Abel," she said with a small smile. "And I'm glad to help out. Good night, Jax." She added as she walked out of the room.
"Good night," Jax responded back as he watched Jennifer walking out of the room. He then walked over to Thomas who was still sleeping. As Jax gently stroked Thomas' baby face with his thumb, Jax leaned down and gently kissed Thomas' forehead. "Good night, baby boy."
" Daddy?" Abel asked quietly.
" Yeah buddy?" Jax asked as he walked over to Abel and sat down beside him.
" Can we go see mommy tomorrow?"
Jax hasn't visited Tara's grave since he got out and it's not because he doesn't want to or that he's avoiding it; he just can't bring himself to do it yet. Her death is still too fresh for Jax and seeing her tombstone would make it official for him, but he's not sure if he could handle it. But he knows this is important to his boys.
Yeah buddy. We can go see your mommy tomorrow," Jax answered as he leaned down and kissed the top of Abel's head. "Get some sleep buddy." He said as he tugged Abel into his arms once Abel had settled further into bed.
" Good night daddy." Abel said as he rolled over to his side and fell asleep.
Jax exhales deeply as he leans back against the headboard while watching his boys sleep. This isn't how it was supposed to be. Tara was supposed to leave Charming with their sons to give them a normal life. She wasn't supposed to get murdered. Jax knows that it was Lin who put the hit on his wife, and once Jax finally gets his hands on Lin, Jax will kill him. But not before he slowly destroys Henry first.
