As the elevator rose along the tower's core, the city below her feet grew progressively smaller. The smell of the city faded as the mixture of rusty metal and crisp cool air filled her nose. Her body resisted her father's hold along her wrists as he tightened his grip. A whimper escaped as his clench grew tighter. "Papa, let me go." she cried to him at her side. He did not answer as both of her parents stood with no expression along their faces. Their eyes flashed with the red, blue and yellow hues. She detested seeing her parents in such an emotionless zombie state, and a trickle of anxiety swept through her body.
She continued to yell and wail, but they were silent. "You're hurting me!" Her parents had changed from being her caring and over protective to mindless zombies that could careless they were hurting their only daughter.
She complained as the elevator's metal walls ticked by, sending vibrations into her ears. She experienced a wide range of feelings when she saw her parents in this situation, such as sadness, fear, and as the time passed and the struggle escalated, anger. She whipped her body back and forth that if she struggled any harder she would end up with whiplash. She panted from the struggle as her blood boiled. "If you teleported me here, why didn't we just teleport to the top?" She grumbled annoyed. Again. They did not answer.
Her eyes in a panic looked for any sign of a dark teal snake skinned hero. He is coming right? She whimpered as she began to worry every possible thing. He didn't get turned himself? Did he?! She struggled and struggled against her parents but to no avail. People of Paris made it seem like this was easy, dealing with Villains and the crazy outcomes that come with them when she saw clips on the news or on Alyas blog but no. This was terrifying. She had no clue what was going to happen.
Her stomach boiled like a pot of water in an Italian restaurant. She felt she was going to puke with how much she was feeling all at once as the panic raced her mind with every chaotic thought and outcome that could possibly happen.
Viperion where are you?
The lift felt like it was taking forever as the bits of moon light flashed in on her face through the metal railings. Each tick tick of the metal chain that pulled the metal cage made her flinch each time. The tight space made her claustrophobia trickle in her gut. Small spaces weren't her favorite places to be, let alone being captive in. The atmosphere shifted as the air grew almost mucky a tiny bit on exposed skin. Felt like rain was shifting in. It was the one thing she loved about fall coming in, the cool air with rain made her world almost relaxing. The elevator came to a jerky stop that Her tiny body felt weightless for a few seconds before her feet pressed hard back down on the floor board.
This however wasn't her idea on relaxing.
Her heart was beating quickly as she peered along the metal doors as the elevator came to a stop. As her father reached for the button to unlock the doors, his hold on her wrists loosened. She had a chance now. As soon as the doors slid open, Marinette lunged forward to make her escape, like a mouse trapped in a corner, she darted forward leaving her parents confused and stunned for the few seconds she was free.
But freedom did not last long.
She gasped as something thin and metallic curled around her like a snake and smacked against her body so hard it knocked her back onto her butt. She kept struggling as her blue eyes examined the metal that coiled her body. Suddenly electricity was sent coursing through her system which caused her to scream, and the scorching shock that followed caused the hairs on her arms to stand on edge. The shockwave only last a quick few seconds but it felt like minutes had gone by. Her blood felt cold for an instant.
"Now, Now, Don't Struggle Bestfriend." a voice that echoed across the air called. The voice sounded so monotone but sent chills like someone ran their fingers down a chalkboard. "You Are Safe And Sound Now That I Have You. Well. Unless You Don't Cooperate."
Marinette peered around as she stood to her feet but didn't see anyone. "Alya? Is that youuu-!" another shock pulsed through her body. Her muscles gave out, and she dropped to her knees. She coughed, the air being knocked out from her lungs like a punch in the gut.
"Shh Shh Shush Now." the voice called. Marinette's head hung slightly but was forced upright as her father grabbed the top of her head with a handful of her hair. She let out a painful squeal from the corner of her mouth. Marinette's eyes once more scanned the area as she shuddered as a gust of wind passed by her. Her blue stare caught the variety of phones in front of her that she did not notice before; they all flickered asynchronously.
Suddenly a form glitched into her view. Standing in front of her was a woman. Her orange hair was composed of thick electric wires that were braided back in a half-box braid, half-cornrow style. Her cheekbones were streaked with light strips that resembled tears, and her skin was a dark gray color. Her eyes were neon orange and shining brightly. On the tip of her nose, she sported a pair of circular, rimmed glasses. She floated silently above the scattering of phones while modeling a futuristic bodysuit with laser strips that pulsed in various directions around her garment.
Though akumatized, she knew Alya. This was in fact her. A woah escaped Marinette's lips as she stared upon her friend's villain design. She had to shake her designer thoughts away.
As the portal opened behind the elevator, Viperion hurried over, pressing his body against the elevator shaft as he glanced around the bend toward the front where Marinette and the villain were. He observed a number of phones dispersed over the ground. He reached to his wrist as his fingers grazed the Miraculous. "Second Chance." He whispered. Rubybug approached from the portal slowly. Her feet weighed down like they were covered in cement. Why was she moving so slow now, it was like she was in a dream.
She stood beside Viperion as she stared at the back of his neck. Something swooshed and hummed passed her ear as her head started to pulse. "Vi" she whispered as the portal glitched closed behind them. "Do your Lucky Charm" he ordered not looking at her directly. Her hand was shaking as she reached for the yoyo subconsciously. Her arms now moved slowly just like her legs but she was able to grab her weapon before she flung it up. It flew up and then fell down, bumping on top of Viperions head.
He winced as he grabbed his head. "Ow" he whispered. "What's wrong with you?"
"S-sorry. I'm not myself." She huffed as the words forced slowly through her lips. "Lucky Charm." She struggled but was able to fling the yoyo up again and a hand mirror appeared and landed in her hands. Another one? There must be something that can be done with the mirror she didn't do properly last time.
Rubybugs hands shook more intensely as her mind felt almost out of body. Her hands moved slowly and felt almost numb, she couldn't even feel the mirror in her grasp. She winced as the pain shot through her mind again. Her blue eyes shut tightly and she inhaled sharply upon opening them. Her vision was cut in half, she saw normally in her left. She looked upon Viperions body as it glowed red and the world around him was orange, almost mimicking heat signature vision.
She frowned as her heart raced. She was losing herself but her lips couldn't utter the words to tell him. It was like a force was keeping her from saying it.
"H-h-here, you will need this." She spoke with a shaky grip along the dotted mirror. "Y-y-you'll know what to do." She stated. "I'm sorry I-" her voice cut off suddenly. Her throat closed and she couldn't speak.
He stared as he took it, struggling to take it from her iron grasp but he examined it closely. His eyes shot back up toward the scene.
"I think one of those phones is the corrupted one, but it's odd," Viperion whispered as he stared upon Searchers form, strapping the mirror to his hip. "How come I couldn't see her in the Den?"
"Alya, please, I'm sorry I ran off." Marinette cried. "But this is not the way. Let's talk about this."
"You Will Call Me Screen Searcher Marinette." She commented as she looked her nails over. "And You Will Be Answering My Questions. I'm Searching For The Truth And Only The Truth But It's Up To You To Tell Me The Truth I Seek."
Marinette gulped as she stared along her friend's villain form. Being in New York, she never got to witness being at the mercy of an akumatized villain before. She knew her friend had been akumatized a few times before this, she just hoped she'd never have to witness her friend in such a form. She knew this was not her but her feelings on steroids times a thousand but the thought of Alya being so angry and upset caused a heart break in Marinette's chest. Her eyes fell in defeat as she stared down at the phones below. She noted one with a tiny hamster charm hanging from the aux plug. It was Marinette's phone. "If You Don't Tell The Truth, I Will Shock You With 5,000 Volts To Make You Tell Me The Truth."
Marinette stared. "I always tell you the truth about everything. I'm not hiding anything." She said with a stern voice.
Searcher glared her glowing eyes along Marinette as she paced above the phones. A voice echos in her mind as it eggs her on forward with the emotions that festered.
"Did You Push Lila Rossi Down The Stairs?"
Marinette blinked as she jerked her head up and stood to her feet. Rage filled her tiny body. Viperion stiffened as he whispered along Marinette's shouting voice. "W-what?"
Marinette growled. "Seriously? I didn't hurt her!"
She's lying. The voice echoed, it's voice sounding almost different as it vibrated. As if different voices spoke at the same time.
Marientte then screamed as electricity pulsed through her body, falling back to her knees. She winced as her father pulled her head up right again by the tufts of her hair as her knees wobbled. Searcher snarled her teeth as she paced over the phones. Viperion held a growl in his chest, he wanted to lunge out but he had to wait for the perfect moment he had planned for in the Den. It was hard though seeing her in pain and fear. Along with seeing the Villain now made him stir with anger. "Lies! Lies!" Searcher screamed as she turned in a circle. She began to murmur under her breath as the voice continued to talk to her. "Everyone Saw Her Lying At The Bottom Of The Stairs, Everyone Saw The Pain And Agony On Her Face." Searcher added as they looked to Marinette. Her voice sounding almost like she was a Sherlock Holmes wannabee as she paced back and forth between the space above the cellular devices.
"The only lying she did that day was that tall tale." Electricity pulsed.
"You're Not Going To Make This Easy, Are You? Fine, Did You Steal Her Jewelry?" Searcher hummed.
"No." Marinette huffed.
She's lying. Again the voice told. Searcher frowned as her eyes closed slowly.
Marinette winced as volts went through her body once more. "A-a-ayla that's enough!"
"Just Tell Me The Truth And This Will End" Searcher yelled. She stopped and looked off to the ground as Marinette panted out of breath. Guilt started to settle in. Searcher pondered over Marinette's pleading face as she was filled with rage that was unlike anything she had felt before. Her face however, innocence that softened along her complexion. Her blue eyes pleading everything to stop. The guilt was suddenly switched to anger.
This anger was something different than her body could handle, the anger made her body shake. Their voice echoed in the back of her head as they taunted towards her and encouraged her every negative thought to Fester even more profusely. It was as if she had a fresh wound and he was jabbing and twisting a dagger into it, as he persuaded her to continue the work, twisting the dagger even more.
His voice echoed, she's lying.
Shook his thoughts as she took his words in with a heavy heart and almost open arms. She was lying to you the entire time she was in New York, how can you trust her that she's telling you the truth now? Her eyes stared her friend down with a pity of disgust. Was Atlas right? She did lie about that. Her heart began to swell and throb with sadness in betrayal. "You Lied To Me For The 3 Years The Time You've Been Gone. How Can I Trust You? How Can I Believe You?"
Marinette's heart felt heavy in her chest like a sinking rock thrown into the ocean. She was right, she did lie about that.
"You're right, I did lie about the internship, I just didn't want to seem like a failure." She huffed as she struggled to her shaking ankles. Her legs felt like jello. "But I'm not lying here. Alya, please, I can see in your eyes you don't want to do this. You're in denial. You are angry because you know I am not lying and are afraid of being wrong. A reporter can sometimes get the facts wrong."
Lies. She is holding something back. Maybe she isn't your true friend, after all, if she lied about the internship all these years. Maybe she's been lying about her feelings. A voice echoed at the back of Searchers head, implanting thoughts trickling to search for the truth. Marinette seemed to never understand her own feelings but she often would hide how she felt for the sake of others. "What About Your Feelings? You Still Love Adrien, Correct?"
Viperion flinched as his eyes looked over to Marinette. His heart raced as he stared along her stance. The hero wanted to ignore these facts but Luka felt selfish in wanting to know more. He was so confused after this night. Did she? Would knowing change his mind? Would it give him an answer of how he felt towards her?
Marinette coughed as she looked to Searcher. Their eyes locked. "N-no." she struggled as the wires grew tighter and tighter. Viperion inches forward as he prepared himself to lunge in. "He hurt me, I can never forgive him for that."
She's lying! Her eyes still say she loves him! Atlas's voice screamed with rage in her skull which caused her to flinch back and stagger in her feet. She gripped her skull as she screamed in agony. Searcher hung her head as the feelings of overwhelmed shook at her body. "I Searched Far And Wide Across The City To Find You." She started with a closing throat that made her voice crack. "You Ran Off And I Didn't Know Where You Went Or If You Were Even Okay."
Marinette frowned. She was right once again. She did run off. She didn't think of it that way. She just wanted to get away, she was frustrated with her that she couldn't sit there any longer. She was on the urge of crying. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking straight." She cracked. "B-but you just wouldn't listen!"
Something snapped.
"No, I Am Listening, You're Just Lying To Me. You Are Running From The Truth. I Know It. You Are The One In Denial. Not Me." she screamed. "You Always Try To Be The Center Of All Eyes." She started. Marinette stared along her pain filled face.. "I Always Supported You Through Everything. All Of Your Stupid And Idiotic Schemes To Get Adrien To Fall In Love With You. Your Stalker-like Tendencies. I Was By Your Side When He Left You And What Did You Do? You Left Paris. You Left Me. And After Message After Message Of You Giving Me Short Answers And Being Left On Read. You Come Back. And Have These Delusional Thoughts." She howled. Marinette felt tears well up in her eyes as the rage sounded so pain filled and sincere.
Her heart and stomach felt like a punching bag. Her friend really felt this way about her? "I Jumped, Screen, To Screen. I Could See Everyone's Lies That They Literally Held On Their Hands. People, Lie, Every Second About Who They Are And How They Feel. What If Your So Called Love Interest Doesn't Work Out Huh? You Going To Leave Again. Leave Me Again."
Marinette gasped as her body began to lift off the ground as the electric waves pulsed continuing through her body. The world began to blur. "Not This Time, Let's Save Us From The Heart Ache, Shall We?" The electric lights along her face began to pulse like tears falling rapidly down her face.
"Searcher, stop!" A voice called.
Searcher looked over with rage in her eyes and the sky turning gray behind her as clouds rolled in overhead.
"You really think she is lying to you?" Viperion glared as he stepped into view. Searcher snapped her eyes to him. Marinette's blurred vision looked over at the figure; Viperion did come to save her. She smiled before her world faded to darkness. "After all of this?" He motioned toward the city. His boots felt heavy as tracked across the metal, he took each step with care and caution. "She's still lying to you?"
Searcher stared after him and then over to Marinette. Searcher was silent in that moment. She took his words in as her stomach churned and heart burned. "You searched the city for her and this is how you are treating her? How is this protecting her?"
"I…" Searcher shook her head as Atlas voice mirrored her lips. He spoke through her. "Her Lies Hurt Others. They Hurt Me. I Must Protect Her. From Hurting Others. From Getting Hurt."
"But she isn't lying to you." He spoke as he stepped forward. Searcher glared after him with the rage cooking like an egg on a hot skillet.
"How Would You Know?"
"You're talking about Lila Rossi. Correct?" He asked as he held one hand out as he stepped in the middle space between her and Marinette. She stayed quiet. "Did she not once mention on your blog that she and I were dating?" He rolled his eyes at this. Funny enough that they did but this was before he became Viperion. So it was still a lie. "I didn't say anything back then, I never liked intervening in civilian lives or lies. I save Paris. I don't involve myself in drama. But Rubybug." Viperion motioned to Rubybug to step forward as he kept his eyes on Searcher. She looked at Ruby as her eyes flickered with colors. A smirk peaked. "She did confront her at one point which caused her to be akumatized into Volpina. Remember this?"
No answer.
"Well, she was lying about that. I never asked her on a date to the Pyramids. She doesn't know my real identity. Her and I didn't break up cause it was too dangerous for our love to "blossom" like she said. We were never together. Ever. If she lies like that, to how many followers on your page. Imagine the other lies she spews."
"But…i. Your Just Saying That To Get My Guard Down."
"I haven't known Marinette long. But it's clear to see she is the sweetest, kindest and…" he stared over at her. "Bravest, kind hearted and most down to earth person one could ever meet. And that anyone is lucky to have her in their life." He stared along her face as his turned stern when he looked back at her. "You know this, you know she is telling the truth. You are the one that is afraid of the truth. Not her. You."
Searchers heart stopped.
"Stop It!" Searcher gripped her head as she faught the anger boiling to the surface. She lashed her arm out as the wires on her head extended and rushed out toward him. Viperion flinched as he quickly flipped over and rolled to the side. Her braids quickly whipped to the side and he quickly pushed against the ground to leap back into the air and land on the cage lining above the elevator. The wires missing his touch.
"You've lived with this lie for so long that even you believe it's the truth." He huffed as he pulled his sword chain out, readying himself for the next strike. "What does she gain from this? Lila strives for attention and when she notices people aren't giving it to her the way she wants, she adds more lies and special gifts and promises or you become her enemy."
She snarled at him as her breathing grew hard as he lept down. "I don't want to fight. Isn't this what you wanted from Marinette? To talk?" He questioned as he lowered his sword down as he placed it along the floor. "Let her go and I promise you, you and her will talk things through. You both have to have an open mind."
Your feelings of rage are justified. Let your emotions sore.
Viperion glared and flinched as a rain drop fell on his cheek. His eyes drifted to the sky as the thunder called overhead. His eyes looked to Searcher as the rain trickled overhead and she suddenly vanished as the rain touched the top of her head. Viperion blinked and gasped as a wire wrapped around his own body.
It was a yo-yo.
He looked back and flinched as he stared upon Ruby whose eyes were no longer blue but the flashing hues of the Byters.
"Wh-what?!" He growled as he struggled. "You got infected? When? H-how?" He grumbled as his teal eyes searched around and a blur landed nose to nose with him. "Funny How Your Magic Works Sometimes." She stared. "Because Of Her Lucky Charm, She Wasn't Infected On The Spot." She huffed. "Still, Funny She Didn't Say Anything To You."
"You were an illusion this whole time. No wonder you didn't show up on the portal screen." He cursed.
Illusions just like Kwamis; project their form on earth but do not show up via recording or on history portals. Can not record what is not there.
Viperion huffed as he struggled more and glared back at Ruby who's emotions were gone. "You See How Lies Hurt Others." She growled.
"Knowing Ruby she didn't want to worry me. Just like how Marinette did for your sake. I hate lies. But sometimes it's okay to lie. I lie about who I am everyday." He stood to his feet. Searcher didn't like this answer. "You Will Keep Your Mouth Shut! This Has Nothing To Do With You!" Searcher yelled.
Viperion struggled as he reached for his sword on the ground. But Searcher flicked her heel along the sword and slid it behind her. Its metal skid across the surface and plummeted off the tower. His eyes searched and he remembered. He grabbed the charm on his hip and shoved it in her face. "Look at yourself! This isn't you!"
Searcher flinched back as she stared at her reflection. Face cold and unlike her reflection from earlier that day. Her skin no longer it's caramel brown but now a dark and sickly grey. The streaks of lights pulsing down her cheeks like tears. And the lifeless robotic look of her eyes.
"I know you don't want to feel this anger. You have to let it go. Let us all go." He panted.
Searcher snapped back as she reached, slapping the mirror from his hands. "You know nothing about the anger I feel!"
"Yes I do. I live everyday with anger in my chest. But there is always room for some type of light to shine through."
"Stop talking!" She growled as her wire hairs took him from Ruby's grasp along her yoyo wire. "I'll make you pay." She squeezed.
"Let him talk." A voice called from behind. They both looked back to a figure in a long hooded dark purple cloak. He almost resembled Death himself in such a dark get up. The white mask covering his face added more to his mysterious appearance. Viperion struggled against the wires braids as he reached for his miraculous but gasped as Rubybugs hand snatched over the Miraculous. His heart raced. She was one swift move from removing it.
"Don't bother." The figure's voice chuckled. "We don't want your Miraculous. I don't care who you are under the mask."
"Who are you?"
"Ain't it obvious, Fangs? I'm Atlas. Please to meet you." He bowed elegantly as his cape robe flared out like a stage curtain, showing a get up underneath he didn't expect. A suit was underneath but not a superhero suit. A fancy smancy black suit with a red ascot on his chest. And on his right upper chest next to his ascot, sat the butterfly brooch. His eyes glowed like emerald green christmas lights under his emotionless white mask. His get up reminded him vaguely of phantom of the Opera. To an extent. Viperion rolled his eyes. Who was this guy trying to impress with this outfit choice?
Then again, if it wouldn't give too much of Luka away, Viperion would redesign his whole outfit to show off some combat boots and studded anything along his get up for more gothiness.
"So what? Are you the holder or is Mariposa? What gives?"
"Let's say I am her understudy when she," he stopped and looked to the side as he thought of the words. "Has her hands tied. But don't worry, she and I are very alike. She is the angel whispering in my ear."
Viperion flinched and then struggled more against Ruby's extra strength grip. His teeth grew sharp as he sent daggers at the man.
"Ah, ah. Continue to struggle and I might let Rubybug detransform in front of you with a snap of my fingers." He held his fingers up in a ready position to snap away as he jumped down onto the platform from the ledge. "Then you would be alone."
His figure moved toward the center of the pathway, his walking cane tapping loudly against the metal.
This felt like a checkmate move.
Viperion stopped as a growl rumbled in his chest like the rolling thunder overhead. "What do you want if you don't want our Miraculous?"
"We will make our goal known, where and when, just be patient. That is how your power works and what it is all about right? Wait to strike. But right now, like Mariposa has stated." He stopped and walked over to Marinette as he stared along her figure. His hand reached, caressing her cheek. "We simply want people to show their true emotions and rid the world of those that don't belong in our world we want to build."
"Don't touch her!" He growled as he stood to his feet. Atlas looked to him with a shift of his hooded figure. Unseen a smirk grew under the mask. He took a step back as he walked over to Viperion. A cold chill went up Viperions spine as his eyes flooded over him. His figure dashed up to him so fast like a shark attack. Viperion gulped. "Such a waste in a holder for the snake." He spat. "Lacking leadership, impulse and now?" He looked back at Marinette. "You know, it's too dangerous, right? To love a mere civilian among the dangers of a hero and a villain's world, right?"
"So you are a villian. You just admitted it." He glared ignoring his statement.
"Am I? Or maybe your the villain and I'm the hero." He chimed as he turned back toward Marinette as his fingers trailed along her loose locks. He pulled the lock close to his mask and seemed like he inhaled her scent. "Such a sweet aroma, no wonder you can't resist her."
Viperion looked to her and then to him as he squinted his eyes. "She's just a person I need to save, that's all."
His stomach churned seeing him so close to her. A growl thundered through his throat as his eyes flickered with anger. He didn't want him touching her but a ting of not wanting a single man to every touch her. Atlas rose a brow as he stared along Viperions red scorching eyes. "I know that look all too well. I saw how you two acted tonight. I saw everything through Rubybugs corrupting eyes." He started with a chuckle. "A very cute read I must say, a bit cliche in my opinion. Along with your grunge of a look outside of your hero perosn. But hey, who I am to judge what turns a girl like her on."
Viperion growled but hitched his growl as Atlas flicked his cane toward the wall, pressing it next to Marinette's neck. He leaned in close to her. His body pressed against hers. "I will admit, shock to see a cute mouse like this to dress down in such a seductive way." He chuckled as he pinched her chin and forced her head up right. "Can see why you'd get hard over something so petite like this."
Viperions eyes glowed fire red as his body shook. An anger he didn't know he had shook at his core. Atlas quickly pulled away and turned on his boots as he stepped up onto the ledge. He turned to face Viperion. "A lovely negative energy to play with, but alas, not part of our plan, I must go for now, you will see our way is the correct way in do time."
"You are forcing others to fight your own battles."
"Not true. You see. Alya felt that rage, I didn't put it there, it was there all along."
"You amplified it."
"Say what you will. We want others to feel what they want to feel. And fight for what they believe in." He wiped Viperions words off like an annoying dust bunny on his shoulder.
"But her thoughts weren't the right thing to believe in, a lot of people got hurt, humiliated and traumatized because of this." He spat. "Not everyone can be right and let their feelings be heard. It will cause chaos and it will be you to blame."
"I only handed her the power, she did what she wanted to do with it." He chuckled. "If anyone is to blame. It's her. Not us."
Searchers shoulders dropped as she stared along Atlas. "My fault?" She whispered.
"You handed a gun to a person with rage and killer in their eyes." He spat at Atlas's feet.
Atlas stood in silence as the rain continued to trickle overhead along their heads and shoulders.
"I don't understand what you guys are searching for or are trying to achieve? This doesn't make any fucking sense."
"Mariposa and I have similar wishes but different goals but we have our solutions planned out. We are working together to achieve our goals. So yes. Things will get messy at first along the way. But we don't wish to harm anyone." He motioned to Searcher. "She wanted to hurt others. She wanted to hurt her friend. She wanted to hurt you. I simply wanted to help her find both her friend and the truth. It's not our fault at what a person feels."
"This IS all my fault." Searcher fell to her knees as she held her arms close to her body. Their link grew weak and her mind that once felt accompanied by another grew more distant and quiet. One by one the phones below her started to turn off as their lights faded slowly until only the center one stayed illuminated.
"Rewind all you want with the 30 seconds you have left. But our plan is already in motion before you even did the magic of Second Chance. Our movement begins." He stated. He snapped his fingers. Searcher gasped as her body turned to smoke as Viperion fell along the floor.
Marinette fell along the metal flooring as the wires fell limp along her unconscious body. Rubybugs stance grew relaxed. A gasp escaped her lips.. "Wh-what happened?"
Viperion crunched his brows together. "W-what? What was the point of this then?"
"Like I said. Our plan is now in motion. I was just looking to find something's out and have a bit of fun during the process. But I did enjoy visiting. This won't happen often." He stopped and looked over toward Marinette. "I'd stay away from her, unless you like danger." He expressed before he rocked back as his body fell from the ledge. Viperion gasped as he ran toward the railing and looked down. He was gone. He looked down as his Miraculous of Second Chance ran out just as he looked along the snakes eyes.
"Fucking damn it!" He raged.
"Viperion! Marinette! She isn't moving!" Ruby yelled as she held Marinette in her body. Viperion snapped back and ran to her side. His hand felt her face as it was cold. "Those shocks did a number on her." He panicked. He looked over to the lucky charm mirror along the ground. He scrambled to his feet as he grabbed it. His eyes stared down along Alya as she continued to stare horrified at the ground. "Quick! Lucky charm! It will heal her!" He yelled. Rubybug nodded as she took it from him as she leaned Marinette onto him. She tossed the mirror into the air. Ladybugs swarmed and fluttered across the air. Civilians that stood among the destroyed streets were consumed by the red bugs and the people disappeared and were teleported to where they originally were before chaos ensued.
The bugs trickled over Marinette and her face color returned. She gasped for air as her eyes flashed open. She sat up right quickly in a panic. Viperion grabbed her shoulders. "It's okay, it's over." He assured her. She turned with a panting of her breath. Blue eyes of hers began to water and soften with shakiness. She tried to speak but her words broke. She flung her body to him as she embraced him closely. Viperion flinched back as she cried into his chest. His eyes looked to Rubybug who half smiled but expression was sad. His hand hesitated but touched along her damp spine. "Shhh" he whispered. "You're okay, it's okay."
Viperion was sad to see her so upset.
Alya looked toward them, she frowned as she stared down at her hands as she held Marinette's phone. The hamster charm dangling off the corner.
"You remember anything?" Viperion asked. Alya went through and explained what she remembered. How she felt. How Atlas treated her.
"This felt so different then when I got akumatized by Monarch." She started as she pulled her hood close to her neck as the cold air along the streets of Paris glided by. The heros escorted her to her vehicle. "Monarch it felt so forced, almost like poison was flooding in you to be this bad person but with Atlas, it felt he just, was there watching me do what I wanted to do." She sighed. "Sure, there were parts where it felt like Monarch but really, I do think I was the one doing all of that."
"The butterfly makes you feel your emotions times ten." Rubybug started. "No matter if he did let you have control, it wasn't right."
"But I really do feel he was doing what he said he wants to do. He wants us to feel our emotions." Alya defended. "I know it was all sloppy and so much shit happened. But, it was like my emotions were in a bottle and he opened them up. I feel, so, lighter now. I just lost control."
Alya felt almost drunk off that feeling of her anger being released.
Marinette frowned. Even though her friend felt better getting everything out in the air, it all still hurt Marinette. She felt selfish dragging her own emotions into this when it was Alya who suffered tonight. That was selfish of her, right? Her friend villian or not, felt Marinette was in a sense and attention snob. A stalker freak. She rubbed her arm as she stared along the ground. The emotions stirring in her stomach. Her eyes drifted back to her friend as she continued to talk to the heros.
"I understand your concern, maybe though you should take this from a different approach." Alya started. "I felt this, connection between Atlas. He did seem like he was worried for my own emotions. He gave me the choice to accept the gift."
Viperion rolled his eyes. "The butterfly miraculous doesn't belong to them. Maybe you should realize, if they wanted to do the right thing, they would return it." He barked as he turned along the black asphalt road and walked along as the mist fell over head. Alya flinched as she shut her car door. She never saw this part of Viperion before. He was so filled with anger and hate versus her previous encounters he was down to earth and calming. Her brows creased annoyed from his tone. Rubybug touched Alyas shoulder. "It's okay to be confused during a moment like this. Just, please, don't blame yourself for this.
"Blame myself? How can I not though?" Alya was conflicted, she felt better but it felt kind of redundant. "I lost control and lashed out my anger on Paris. Your ladybugs can't fix that."
Marinettes heart clenched hard as she looked over toward the pacing and anger filled Viperion. She had the urge to talk to him but since she a woke from the ladybugs healing her, he seemed, off.
Viperion paced as the droplets trickled along his face like tears. He searched the buildings sidings as if they could tell him the answers to all his problems. That everything would solve itself if he thought hard enough. But answers never came. He was filled with his own rage by this whole night. So many emotions he didn't want to feel.
A presence approached him. One he knew and with a small glance he looked to her. She stood there, her heavy sweater swallowing her petite body. The fabric hiding the curves he drooled over earlier were nonexistent. She held her arms close to her body as her sad blue eyes stared up at him. Her hair was a tad messy but the water that damped it made it curl more around her face. Marinette approached him. "Hey, you okay?" She asked. Her voice like a bell that made his bones rattle from its soothing chime. Her voice and the cold rain on him made him shiver, his heart ached as he quickly looked away. "I'm fine." He huffed with a crossing of his arms.
She frowned as he took a step back from her as he turned on his heels and walked along the road as he continued to pace. He couldn't put any of this together. Mariposa and Atlas. The new holders of the Butterfly Miraculous. But along with using the powers to aid them are the Horse and The Fox. What could they be planning? They want to corrupt people. But want people to feel their own feelings. What does that mean? Was it a ploy to distract the heros from a bigger picture? There has to be something he is missing. Her presence returned.
"Hey, you should step out of the rain. Your going to get sick." She whispered.
Viperion snapped at her. "Who cares! There are two psycho villains on the loose trading a miraculous like it's a piece of bubble gum."
Marinette flinched, taken back at his sudden burst. She couldn't think of how to respond. Her expression made Viperion blinked and realized how he sounded. He pinched the bridge of his nose as he sighed slowly. "Sorry. Sorry. I'm just, stressed right now. Trying to think."
She didn't answer.
He could tell she wanted to say something but his anger was probably detoring her from saying it. He sighed as Atlas words echoed in his mind. You know it's too dangerous? Right? To love a mere civilian among the dangers of a hero and villains world, right?
Love? His eyes glanced over to her and sighed as his heart clenched tightly. He had feelings for her but he wasn't sure it was love. But he hated to admit it. Atlas was right. It is too dangerous for Viperion to pursue after a civilian. Seeing her cry a few minutes ago, killed him.
Even though it pained him. "You should go home." He whispered. Marinette looked at him. "But, I thought," she stopped as she bit her lip with sadness in her eyes as she stared at the sidewalk. She didn't know why she thought what she did. All the What If scenarios that ran through her mind suddenly started to flicker away like a flame on a dying candle. Viperion could tell her face was filled with disappointment. "Look, tonight was fun. Really fun. Actually. But. We need to leave it there." He huffed as he scratched the back of his neck. "It's too dangerous. And I'd hate for something bad to happen to you because of me."
Marinette nodded slowly. Silence still. Viperions eyes read apologetic but his words stabbed like a chain sword to the heart. The fun was like adrenaline. The lust that electrocuted through their bodies was fading away from the dangers that had been encountered today. A tiny wisp of air trickled past her and Viperion. Her scent and the fall smalls trickling together like two streams intermingling. Viperion stared longing along her face. The longer he felt he stayed. The harder he knew it was going to be to resist keeping that promise. "Rubybug. Take them inside. Meet you at our rendezvous spot. We have a few things to discuss." He told as his eyes left Marinette for the last time. Rubybug nodded slowly to him. Marinette looked to him but like a blur. She watched as his body vanished along the buildings rooftops. She rubbed her sore eyes as rain landed in her iris's. She looked once more.
He was gone.
