Week 3
Monday morning at school*
"Class it's getting closer and closer to our Halloween party which is next week. And one of the best parts of a party is the food. So you'll need to bring some goodies to it." Miss Collins announces
You don't have to be a 5-star chef to make good food
Later that day it's too hot to eat lunch outside*
When class ends Jett arrives for his tutoring session which is at a Fro-Yo shop*
"Why are we here?" He asks
"I wanted some Fro-Yo because it's very hot outside," Logan replies
And this tutoring session is going to be short. I need to get down to the community center and help the guys think of what we're going to make for the Halloween party treats
"Can I help?" Jett asks
"No. The guys aren't going to want to work with you anyway." Logan says
"Even Carlos? He's the nicest kid in school." Jett admits
"You're right he's extremely nice but he doesn't tolerate bullies," Logan answers
"I'm not a bully," Jett says defensively
"Don't start with me. You know you are. Let's just get started on the work we have." Logan says
After an hour Jett goes home*
(At the community center)
"OK, guys. This Halloween party will be even more awesome with some delicious cookies" Logan says
"Can I help? I know this amazing recipe my abuela taught me!" Carlos says full of joy
"Sure amigo. Go ahead" Logan says
"Yay! "The young Latino replies hugging him and excitedly running into the kitchen*
"And go easy on the sprinkles you sugarholic!" Logan calls after him
"Aw come on Logan don't you trust him?" Camille says laughing
"Around sugar? Not really" Logan replies
"Don't worry Logan. I'm sure he'll be very responsible in there" Camille says
"I love the dude but sugar is his weakness besides corn dogs. I just want him to have fun. I know he'll do great. Now let's focus on our task for the party. I asked you to come with me to help make a banner" Logan says
"Sounds like fun," Camille says
"What can James and I do?" Kendall asks
"Hmm, let's see. Miss Collins told me we need plates and cups. You guys can go to the store and get some orange and black ones" Logan replies
"How are we gonna get there?" James says
"My mom has her car but she can't take us. She's at the spa." Kendall says
"Take an Uber" Logan suggests
"Good idea. Come on James." Kendall says as they leave the building*
After an hour they come back and Carlos is done baking cookies*
Later that day. Steven sees Kendall and excitedly runs to him jumping up and down*
"Hi, Steven. What's got you so happy?" He asks
"Surprise, surprise!" Steven says
"He has a surprise for you," Andy says
"What is it?" Kendall says
"This for you," Steven says giving him a drawing
"It's me as Superman and I'm flying around with Elmo and Kermit the frog in a spaceship?" Kendall says smiling
"Uh-huh! Do you like it?" Steven asks
"I love it, Steven. Thank you" Kendall says
"You're welcome," Steven says and Tyson howls happily
"This drawing is truly a symbol of Steven's friendship and trust in you. You're just amazing and so kind to him. He's a special needs kid and you treat him normally. Thank you so much for that. You don't stereotype him as an unhinged autistic kid. You see him as a kind and caring kid who sees the world a bit differently than others. And we both appreciate that" Andy says
"I think Steven is one of the coolest kids I've ever met. And I think Tyson is so handsome and great at his job" Kendall says
"I think you are cool too. You a superhero. You like Aquaman." Steven says
"Thanks, Steven," Kendall says fist bumping him
"Steven, I wanted to show you something I've been working on. Ready?" James says
"Yes." The preteen answers
Ok *signs* "You're an awesome kid. Never change" James demonstrates
Steven hugs him smiling big and gives him a thumbs up*
"Whoa, what did you say to him? Must've been something good." Logan says
"I said You're an awesome kid. Never change." James replies
"You learned ASL?" Andy says impressed
"I sure did. I've been practicing every day at the gym. In secret. I didn't want you guys to find out. I wanted to surprise everyone." The tall brunette responds
"Mission accomplished dude," Andy says high-fiving him
"You want a brownie?" Steven offers
"Whoa, these look amazing Steven," Camille says observing the treats
"They're so spooky looking too," Logan says
They all eat one*
"This is the best brownie I've ever eaten," Carlos says
"I'm glad you like them. Steven made them in his cooking class." Andy says
"He takes a cooking class?" James says grabbing another brownie
"Yeah, he takes one that's specifically for kids with special needs. So all his friends in there are on the spectrum. Like with Asperger's, Tourette's, and Down Syndrome," Andy explains
He made them to help you guys with your Halloween party
"Aww, that's so sweet Steven," Camille says
"I help with more treats?" Steven says
"Yeah, you sure can little dude," Kendall says
Tyson barks happily*
For the rest of the week Steven bakes cupcakes, cookies, and cakes and brings them to the community center*
On Saturday*
The guys go to a local park with a large field to play soccer with Katie and Tyler*
On Sunday everyone goes to the pool and has a lot of fun*
"Halloween is gonna be so much fun when we go to the costume party I told you, guys, about," Carlos says drying off with a towel
"Do we have to go to this party for real?" James says
"Yes, I can't go without you guys. You're all going to love it." Carlos says excitedly
They all go upstairs to eat dinner, watch TV, and go to bed*
