Week 4
Monday morning*
"These decorations are amazing everyone. I'm so proud of all of you." Miss Collins says
"Even Jett?" James says
"Yes. He's helped out a lot." Miss Collins says
"Good. He's finally made himself useful." James says
"Enough dude. We get it. You don't like him. You're not the only one." Kendall says
"It was a genuine compliment," James says defensively rolling his eyes
Class resumes and everyone goes home to study for the test on Friday. Jett comes by to get more tutoring done*
"So if you carry the 2 you'll get this answer," Logan says groaning
"Are you ok?" Jett says
"Yeah, I have a headache. I'm fine." Logan says
"I think you need to lie down," Jett says
"Why do you care so much?" Logan says
We're not friends
"I'm just trying to be nice. I know your actual friends care." Jett says
"We're almost done. Thanks for the concern if it's a real feeling you can show others." Logan says
After 30 minutes Jett goes home and Logan takes some Advil and goes to bed early*
Tuesday morning he's feeling a little better but can't focus very well in class. He's slow to eat his lunch*
After rehearsal he's not that energetic*
"Logan, what's going on with you today?" Gustavo says
"I don't know. My head hurts. You've been overworking us all month long. The stress is finally getting to me." Logan replies
"Oh so now it's my fault? It's always my fault." Gustavo says angrily
"If he says he's in pain then that's not his fault," Kendall says coming to the defense of the small brunette
"Fine. Go home." Gustavo says
The guys go back to the Palm Woods. After eating dinner he starts to feel a lot better but is still in pain*
Wednesday at school he's got enough energy to make it through class but when he gets home he takes another nap*
Later on after dinner he dozes off during Jeporady*
"Logan, what's the answer?" James asks and hears snoring
Logan? *Looks at him*
"Is he ok?" Carlos says concerned
"Yeah, I think he needs to go to bed," Kendall responds to the young Latino
Gently wakes up his tired buddy and helps him walk to their shared bedroom*
Thursday at school Logan is feeling like himself again*
"Are you ready for the test tomorrow Jett?" he asks
"Yeah," Jett says
"Good. Don't let all that time I did tutoring you go to waste." Logan says
The rest of the day he and the guys make last-minute preparations at the community center then go home*
On Friday at school Miss Collins passes around the math test. To her surprise, Jett doesn't fail*
Later that day at the community center everyone is having fun*
3 hours later*
"Come on guys we should get to that costume party I told you about. We're going as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!" Carlos says excitedly
"Um, Carlos we truly need to be able to go to parties that don't seem so childish," Kendall says
"This party isn't going to be anything like that," Carlos reassures him
(At Halloween costume party)
"This is so humiliating!" James says We should be at that awesome party right now impressing girls with our epic dance moves not carrying around foam weapons that aren't even intimidating! I can't take this anymore! We need to go!
"No! Stick to the plan!" Kendall says" We do the contest which will make Carlos so happy. Then we slip out while he's getting hyper with all that candy
"Who's gonna be the one to distract him if he asks why we're not celebrating with him?"Logan asks
"You will," Kendall and James say together
"What?! Why me?!" Logan says shocked
"He trusts you deeply," Kendall says
"I don't want to BREAK that trust!" Logan says This isn't fair you guys. We need to just be honest with him and tell him the truth
"We're wasting time!" James says" Go tell him now Logan
walks up to them* "Tell me what?" Carlos says confusingly. Are you guys going somewhere? The fun just started. You can't leave now. You'll miss out on all the awesome costumes here. Later there's gonna be games and prizes to win. We can do it together as a team like when we play hockey
"Dude we don't wanna-", James starts to say but his mouth is covered by Logan
"Miss out all that is what he was gonna say and nothing upsetting," The smaller brunette says
"The first game starts in 30 minutes," Carlos says and happily walks away
"Quick now's our chance," Kendall says and tosses the car keys to Logan
You know what to do
"Kenny, I'm not gonna betray Carlos," Logan says annoyed
"You're not betraying him. You're teaching him a lesson that this stupid party is not worth being at. Come on you know you don't want to be here." James says
"Guys this isn't right. I'm not doing it." Logan says firmly crossing his arms
"Logan, we've outgrown this costume contest nonsense. It was fun when we were younger but we're famous now. Our public image is very important. We can't be seen here. Carlos embarrasses us all the time. But today it's an EXTREME way of making us all look stupid. His brain hasn't matured passed age 5 and never will. He's hopeless." Kendall declares
"So with that being said you're coming with us because you're the only one who can drive," James says
Drags him outside and forces him into the car. They're all startled by Carlos standing in front of it looking devastated and on the verge of tears*
"Y-Y-You're ditching me!" He says I came out here looking for you guys and you're in the car about to leave. Logie how could you do this?! Any of you?! Why?! So I'm embarrassing you guys?! I heard it! You think costume parties are lame and stupid! Fine if you don't want to be near me so badly I'll go far far away!! *Takes off like a bolt of lightning*
"Uh oh," James and Kendall say
"You TWO did this!" Logan says furiously and slams his foot on the gas pedal. He rolls down the window" Carlos, slow down! Please! We'll explain everything!
Carlos ignores him and runs even faster*
"All that candy made him super energetic. How are we supposed to catch up with him," Kendall says
"I've got an idea," Logan says turning a corner away from the young Latino
"Why are you driving AWAY from him?" James says
"It's the only way to stop him. Trust me. I know what I'm doing." Logan says and turns another corner using the car to barricade Carlos from running any further
"How did you know to do that?" Kendall asks impressed
"I saw it in a movie once," Logan says
Carlos sits behind a big tree nearby*
"Let's do this," Kendall says opening the door"
"Wait all three of us coming at once might make him run again. Let me talk to him first."Logan says and calmly gets out and walks up to his sad buddy
Carlos, I just want to talk to you. Please don't run again. Ok?
Carlos nods his head while glaring at him*
Kendall and James get out of the car*
"We're sorry amigo," Kendall says" We should've told you everything
"We were so wrong to abandon you but Logan is innocent. He was against it from the start. We forced him to come with us. He can drive so he's the only way we can get to the party. I'm so sorry I was saying all that mean stuff about you but this costume contest stuff isn't what we like to do anymore" James says
"The reason I wanted us all to do the costume contest is cuz we're doing it together and it's one of the traditional things we did before moving from Minnesota and I didn't want to let that go cuz sometimes I get HOMESICK!"The young Latino says wiping snot from his nose and sniffling. Yet now I understand you guys want to try other things and I won't get in the way of that
"Carlos, it's ok," Logan says"
"No, it's not ok. I ruined the night for you" guys Carlos says
Go to your party. I'll go back inside on my own. Don't let me hold you back anymore. This will be the last time I ever dress up for Halloween
"Why?" Logan says confused and shocked
Because it upsets all of you and I don't like that." Carlos says
"Aw buddy you don't have to feel that way," Kendall says
"Are you sure?" Carlos says
You guys aren't going to have fun. Go to the party you'll have fun at. My Papi couldn't come tonight even though he promised. He couldn't turn down the night shift for patrolling neighborhoods with wild Halloween parties. I miss him a lot. I just wanted to spend our favorite holiday together and he's not here. I would love to just hug him and share my candy with him but I can't do that tonight
"We'll go back in there with you so you'll be happy then we can send pictures and videos to your dad," Logan says
"You guys don't have to do this. I'm just so immature to still like parties like this." Carlos says
"We're teenagers. We're immature sometimes. That's part of growing up but you amigo are the life of the party. You're the sweetest kid I've ever met. Your boundless energy makes me want to succeed in life." Kendall says
As your brothers, we don't want you to be sad. We shouldn't have betrayed you
"And you and James also shouldn't have forced me to drive the car away. I'm newly licensed. I don't want to get arrested. My parents would need therapy. Don't make me do that again, please. It was so nerve-wracking." Logan says
"We hockey-player promise," James says
They all go back inside and win the costume contest and all sorts of prizes from the different games*
(Later at the apartment)
"Thanks, amigos for staying at the costume party. The only thing that could make this night super awesome is if my Papi was here. His favorite candy is Chilitos. It's Mexican candy made of really spicy peppers and fruit pulp." Carlos says and doesn't notice his dad walk in as he's talking
"Hey amigo. How about one more treat before going to bed? But you can't eat this. Close your eyes, turn around, and hold out your arms." Logan says while signaling Officer Garcia to come over to his son
"What an odd thing to say, Logie. "Carlos says complying with the request and feels a badge in front of him
Why do I feel a badge? *opens his eyes
Papi! You're here! *Smiles and hugs him*
"I sure am mijo," Officer Garcia says
I felt bad breaking my promise to you earlier. I let you down
"No way Papi. You could never let me down." Carlos reassures his father whom he idolizes so much
Have a chilito *gives one to him*
"Aw, you found my favorite candy. Thank you," Officer Garcia says and eats it
Katie returns with Tyler. They're dressed as Woody and Jessie from Toy Story*
They all eat some candy, watch Halloween movies and go to bed*
