The morning of the training comes . We decide to go over my fear landscape . My fear is very simple but complicated for most of the people . It is best for a starter . I look at the initiates in the room. They are all eager to see it
"Today you will go through my fears. A year ago I experienced with drowning, shooting at some unknown people . I only have two so you will get one of them and someone will also get the same one like you." I smile . "So let us begin . Today afternoon you will go through some simulation for practice but they are not fear landscape ."
I look at jason. He knows what To do . I and Joshua take the serum and walk toward them. I insert the needle into Jason's neck and Joshua inserts the rest of the initiates .
I look at Peter who is assisting us and nod , he presses the button and they are all beginning to experience my fears . The fear that I assign to Jason is drowning . He has a similar one which I believe so which he isn't too frighten.
I can see that Jack is struggling and Jennifer is kicking something. The way to overcome the drowning is to swim the deep. Either to let yourself overcome the fear or the fear defeated you.
That is what I warn the initiates the first day when they arrived . Jason wakes up earliest . He is crying. I kneel in front of him.
"What is that stiff?" I try to snort at him
He is staring at me and slap at my face . then he gets up and runs away. I am shocked by him. I was trying to protect him but he misunderstood it. Everyone are waking up.
Some are sweating and some one are crying. They shake their head to wake up from the daze
"Now you can go to your lunch. Please excuse me for a minute ." I turn around and leave
I can't find Jason anyway. The possibility is that he leaves the compound already . Did he quite ? If he is leaving , then what is my purpose of sacrificing myself to insert myself into other experiments.
"Alexander." I wave at the Alexander who stands at far away distance
"Yes Delia ? What's wrong?" Alexander stops walking
"Do you know Jason walker?" I frown
Alexander nods at me . Of course he knows because he is the son to Lucas
"I know that he is Lucas son." Alexander narrows his face. "What is happening?"
"Do you know that he has any brother or sister?" I question
"I know that his brother chose erudite already . The same time when he chose dauntless." Alexander says. "What is wrong ?"
I have a wild guess that is maybe he went to see his brother . That is so risky. I run as fast as I can. I want to go find him. I can't let him do that.
Someone grabs my arm . I stop and see that Edward is there
"Where are you going?" Edward says. "I saw Jason leaves and I don't know where he is going. Are you going to look for him?"
"Yes I am trying to." I pull my hand away but he doesn't let me go
"Delia , if you want to protect Jason, then don't go. I will think a way to let Joshua spare him when he comes back okay?" Edward grabs my arm. "Someone are already watching Jason because of you."
Because of me ? Because that I am too close with him?
"How do you even know that?" I push him away
"Jennifer told me that those boys are already talking about killing Jason in his sleep . She heard them. So she told me and asked me for help." Edward rubs his own temple
They want to kill Jason? Oh god , that can't happen
"Do you remembered when you got attacked. That because they thought mark likes you . Your rank is in his flavour ." Edward shakes his head . "You haven't realized how dangerous that is ."
"Thank you Edward ." I say quietly
I leave and give up on finding Jason. I trust Edward because he is my friend . I sit in my own office for a long time. Why he doesn't understand me . How frustrated that can be for me .
Someone knock on the door . Joshua comes in with Jason stands behind him.
"So tell me why you go to other faction? Is there anything that we have done not satisfy you?" Joshua sits opposite with me and smirks at Jason. "If you can't give me a reason , then I will kick you out of dauntless."
"I ……" Jason is startled now .
I want to think of a reason for him. Joshua is already start to count .
"He tried to kiss me then I refused . He ran like a 2 years old boy to his brother ." I say casually.
I stare into Joshua's eyes . Joshua was adopted from Candor so he can see whether I am lying or not .
"He tried to kiss you? Jason ? Don't you think that Delia is too old for you?" Joshua giggles "fine , next time keep your eyes on yourself and Delia don't let any of them try to kiss you ever again."
Joshua stands up and sneaks out the room. Jason sighs with relief . I look at him coldly.
"What is that? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" I fold my arms . "Do you know who killed my instructor?"
"I am sorry Delia. I got frustrated and then……." Jason covers his face with his hand. "I am really sorry. Delia , I shouldn't try to slap you."
"Erudite killed my instructor mark !" I scream. "They are already watching you Jason walker!"
I breath heavily. Jason comes up to comfort me
"I am sorry Delia . I shouldn't go ." Jason hugs me . "I know that ."
It is afternoon. Jason and all other initiates are waiting . I am watching molly go over her simulation. She is taking too long. One thing that I am sure of it is that she is not divergent. She wakes up around 10 minute .
Her face is plaster pale. She is super scared .
"Peter !" I call . "Help molly gets out."
Peter lifts molly by her arms . Molly walks slowly and until she leaves the door . I stand up and open the door .
"Jason walker comes in please ."
Jason walks in with door closed behind him. He is not afraid anymore like the first day. He sits on the recline chair
I open the metal box.
"Two ways like the fear landscape okay?" I say.
"Sure Delia." He nods at me .
I carefully insert half of the serum into him and lean into him.
"Be brave Jason." I nod at him
I press the button and he is gone . I see him climbing on a Ferris wheel. That is a test for the height. He is climbing very well. Then a rung falls off the Ferris wheel and he screams .
He is dangling there . If he is divergent, he must be awake during the simulation. At the second stage , no one will be awake . He then did something that I expected . He let himself go and he is falling toward the ground
He is awake by blinking his eyes . I stand up and look at him
"That is a divergent sign. I will delete the footage of it." I say. "Unless you want to be as dead as my instructor . I suggest you go to dormitory to rest."
I lift him up. He is heavier now than when he just arrived here . I push him out of the door and close the door behind him.
"Be careful ." I say
After I test everyone and make sure his footage is deleted and I leave the room. I want to go check on Jason but he leans into Jenny to say something to her. I walk past them.
It's good that they are dating but why I feel something weird
"Delia let me explains this ."Jason runs after me
"You don't need to say anything. Our instructor knows ." Jack and William laugh at us
"No I have to. I and Jenny are just talking . Nothing more than that okay Delia? Just listen to me ." Jason grabs my arm.
A man stands in front of me . He is like my age or little elder than me . I never see him before
"Hey Delia , my name is Bobby . I am your secretary from today." Bobby smiles at me . "I was working at the fence so you didn't see me before ."
"Okay hey Bobby , my name is Delia . Nice to work with you." I smile at him.
I let my hand go from Jason and walk with Bobby to my office .
"Do you want to visit my office !" I ask
"Yeah sure , I will work there as well." Bobby says
I walk him to third floor to my office . There is a big dauntless symbol right on the wall. It is painted in yellow and gold . It is pretty.
"Nice wall paper." Bobby gives me a thumb up.
"Thank you Bobby." I laugh. "Someone hang there but I don't know who."
"I heard that they were going to elected you to be the leader but you gave the position to Jason ?"
Bobby knows everything. That must be because Alexander trusted him. Bobby sits down
"So if you need anything just tell me okay? Then I will gladly to help." Bobby snaps his fingers at me
"So I am your boss now ?" I sit down on the couch. "Go get me a cup of coffee . Double sugar and milk."
"Sure madam." Bobby leaves the office
I lay down on the couch . Accidentally I fall into sleep. When I wake up , someone has put a blanket on me
"Bobby?" I call his name
"Jason did that." Bobby points at me . "He was worried about you."
"Okay, he is a good boy." I say
Bobby hums a little . I sit up and I check my watch . It tells me that it is 8 . Shit I haven't eat anything.
"I believe that you haven't eat anything." Jason comes in "I get you something ."
"Thanks Jason." I smile faintly. "Very nice of you."
