Shin took the stairs two at a time, pausing only briefly about halfway up to catch her breath. She was breathing heavily by the time she got up the final step. The stairs had lead up to a large, round, golden platform. At the far side stood a large golden gate that seemingly had nothing on the other side. Standing in front of the gate, was the cloaked figure. Shin had lost her patience at this point, "Who are you?" she demanded, igniting her lightsaber.
"I," the cloaked figure said, dropping their hood, "Am you." Shin's eyes widened. The strange entity did indeed look like her, but at the same time, there was something very wrong about it. Its eyes were yellow, a disturbing glint held within them. When this mirror image of her ignited its lightsaber, the blade was pure red. Shin was so caught off gaurd that she was only barely able to dodge her double's first attack. She soon found, to her annoyance, that she and this entity were evenly matched. Although, if she was indeed fighting herself, then that would make sense. Wait a minute, Shin thought, fighting...myself? She dodged another attack as her double screamed with rage, "Why won't you give up?! Can't you see there's no point going back? He doesn't care about you!"
"Yes he does!" Shin replied.
Her double laughed, "Oh really? He abandoned you! Left you to be killed! And you," she kicked Shin in the stomach, sending her flying back, "You just let it happen!"
"He was, is, a good master," Shin said, getting to her feet.
"You really believe that?" Her double asked incredulously.
"I do."
"Then you will die with that delusion."
"No," Shin said, "I won't."
Her double laughed in disbelief, "The sun has almost set, you cannot defeat me. You will never make it to the gate."
"I don't need to," Shin said, "It's my fault that I'm here, I realize that, and I'm the only one who can get myself out. You said it yourself, life or death...I make the choice."
Her double screamed and ran towards her, "You will not leave this place!"
"I choose life," Shin said, and she opened herself up to the Force once again. The sky went from crimson to black, and all that was golden became gray. There was a rumble as the platform cracked down the middle. Shin locked eyes with her double as the ground beneath them fell away, leaving them both falling into an abyss. Shin plummeted straight down towards nothing, then it felt as if the whole world flipped upside down. Then everything went dark.
