Author's Note: This is a prequel to my other fic, "Coming Out". This fic is meant to show Oswald and Eivor's friendship in more detail before they get together in the other one (Spoilers) It's also a modern day fic that is inspired by real life experiences on my behalf.

Anyway, on with the fic hope you enjoy.

Eivor was sitting in the sitting room one night after college, playing GTA 5 on her Playstation 4.

Strybjorn was minding his own business upstairs, trying to wind down for the night after a long day at work. He knew his daughter was playing on the games console like she did every night, but he was tired and wanted to go to bed.

Lost in the moment and frustration, Eivor forgot that she was meant to be keeping quiet as it was almost her Father's bedtime, she was shooting various people from Merryweather right at that moment during a heist, when she got "Wasted" on the screen.

Furious and enraged, Eivor stood up at that moment, fuming. "Fucking prick, Fucking Bastard. Stupid Merryweather pissing me off!" she screamed

Strybjorn stood up from bed right at that very moment, alerted by the shouting from downstairs, he arrived in the sitting room to see a frustrated Eivor that was standing by the TV, pissed.

Not noticing he was there, Eivor proceeded to sit back down on the sofa, about to reload and continue the game from the checkpoint.

Annoyed, Strybjorn went towards the TV as Eivor frowned. He switched it off at the mains and proceeded to unplug the Playstation.

"Hey! I wasn't done yet, What are you doing?" she protested.

Strybjorn turned around frowning at her. "Taking it away, Eivor. I'm fed up of you making so much noise, shouting and swearing and screaming like a sailor. It's giving me a headache. Stop being so hyper, Can you at least play quietly?"

"What? You can't do that. That's my playstation! I paid for that with my own money, it's my property. You don't understand, in that moment when they're all shooting at you and everything is at stake. If you game you would know!"

"Well this is my home, and I make the rules Eivor. I don't care whether or not it's yours or mine or Sigurd's. You are making too much noise. Rosta is even afraid of you because of your screaming and shouting. I've had enough. You can have it back when you learn how to play quietly"

"Ugh. This is so unfair. That's simply ridculous that Mother is afraid of me. I'm screaming at the game, not her. Screaming at Virtual enemies. I don't understand why she is so afraid" Eivor scoffed

"Well because you don't know it, but when you are hyper- it can be quite frightening to other people"

"I was just frustrated ok? I didn't mean to hurt anyone!"

"I don't care Eivor. I am taking the Playstation away until you can show to me you can play quietly without exploding into a rage every time someone shoots you or whatever. Your not having it back until then"

"Ugh. I can't believe you. So annoying!" Eivor grunted before she went upstairs to her room and slammed the door shut.

Strybjorn sighed as he proceeded to go upstairs back to Rosta, who was hiding in the bedroom.

"It's done. I've took her playstation away so she won't be making so much noise and frightening you"

"Good. Thank you my love, now I can have some peace of mind at last"

Just when they were about to settle to sleep for the night, they heard a shout coming from the direction where Eivor's room was.

"Fuck!" She shouted as she paced back and forth agitatedly in her room

"I can't believe it. I can't believe they took my fucking playstaion away. Stupid" she muttered

Half expecting Strybjorn to come and chasiste her once more for shouting or language, she was suprised to see that he didn't care in the slightest.

"Oh. Whatever" she scoffed before slumping down on the bed.

"It will be alright Rosta, don't worry" Strybjorn soothed trying to soothe Rosta in bed.

"I hope so... I really hope so" Rosta couldn't help but worry.

The following morning

Eivor sighed miserably sitting on the desk in the college class. She was not in the mood for anything or any lessons, since Strybjorn took her playstation away last night.

Oswald arrived, slumping his bag on the floor as he sat on a chair that was next to her.

"Good Morning Eivor" he greeted her smiling, like he did every morning when they saw each other.

"Morning" she grunted back, still in a bad mood.

Oswald frowned, he could tell that she was in a bad mood, usually she looked happier to see him but today she just looked grumpy.

"Is everything alright? Did something happen at home again?"

Eivor sighed. "Yeah. Strybjorn. He took my playstation away, said I was being too hyper, needed to tone down a bit on the noise because I was making my Mother afraid. I won't be getting it back until I learn how to play quietly, apparently"

She couldn't help but scoff bitterly at the last part, holding bunny ears sarcastically with her fingers.

"That's ridculous. Don't listen to him, Eivor. You should be allowed to make as much noise as you can. What is he a dictator? And your mum she's dumb and stupid for not being able to tell the difference between shouting at a screen, and shouting at her. I'm fine with the noise you make when you play with me Eivor. I'm not afraid. It doesn't scare me in the slightest"

Eivor looked up to see that Oswald was fuming and angry at Strybjorn's behaviour. Glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that he's gone so far to take it away from me all because I was making noise.

Eivor smiled, feeling a little better. "Thanks Oswald. I'm glad you think so and that your not afraid of me. Unlike everyone else..."

"Of course. That would be silly of me if I was scared of you because of that..." before he piped up grinning cheerily "Hey, how about since you don't have a console to play on, you come to mine after college, We can play Call of Duty on my Xbox. If you want to that is"

Eivor grinned as she felt a big smile form on her face upon hearing his offer "You know what Oswald, that might just be the perfect idea. Let's do it"

Hours later, College had finished for the day and Eivor was at Oswald's house in his sitting room, they had the whole place to themseleves, due to his Mother still being at work. She wouldn't be due back for another hour and a half.

At least I get to play something today. I should be glad and lucky to have Oswald as a friend. He didn't need to do this.

"Shall we put the disc in?" Oswald's voice broke her from her thoughts.

"Oh yes, Sure"

Oswald grinned as he proceeded to put one of the various COD games he owned, into the Xbox's CD disc.

The game loaded up, as Oswald who was in control as Player one, looked through the various options.

"Do you want to play a local game, just us two without bots or strangers, like a 1v1 just between me and you" he stopped clicking, turning around to face Eivor.

Eivor fidgeted on her controller, looking at it instead of Oswald.

"Yeah, Sure. Go ahead" she mumured

Oswald frowned, concern hitting his brows and system. What's happened to her? Is she ok? She looked happier earlier. What's going on?

As the screen turned from black, to the multiplayer map that Oswald had selected, Eivor no longer found herself in the mood to play, Strybjorn's words echoing on her mind.

He said I'm too loud. I can't help but think he's right. I need to learn and pratice not to make a noise. If I get lost in the moment.

She relctuantly forced her player who was on the Soviet side, Since Oswald had used the American one due to being player one, to run around moving the joystick.

Oswald meanwhile was laughing, enjoying himself as he actively ran around, trying to search for Eivor around the map. "Where are you? I'm coming to find you!"

Eivor saw that Oswald was coming from her side of the screen, instead of ambushing him or ducking to cover, she did none of the sort, letting him find her instead.

"Haha! Gotcha" he smirked before he proceeded to gun her down

Instead of yelling at him that she was going to get him back, Eivor stayed silent smiling sadly, looking down at the controller that was on her lap

Oswald looked at her frown, getting concerned once more. She isn't normally like this. I think I know what's bothering her. Maybe I can find a way to cheer her up. Forming an idea on his mind, he proceeded to exit the match as the screen turned back to the multiplayer menu once more.

Eivor frowned as she noticed the screen changing. We normally play several games against each other, and at least finish the match first. Why is he switching so fast? What is he up to?

As if Answering her questions, Oswald spoke aloud. "Why don't we Change it. I mean play a different mode. Play Team Deathmatch for a change. I mean we always shoot each other, why don't we work together and shoot the other guys?"

That is true, we always do shoot each other. It would be nice if we worked as a team together and I've never played Team Deathmatch before, have heard of it but this seems interesting.

"Sure Oswald. We'll play Team Deathmatch"

Sastfied that she agreed with his idea, he got to work setting the game up in the match lobby.

She agreed with my idea. Hopefully if she sees that I'm working with her instead of against her, maybe that will cheer her up. I've always wanted to play together as a team. Us two fighting the other guys for a change. It's fun playing against each other but it would be nice if for once we weren't rivals trying to shoot each other's arses.

"Alright. So it's me and you against three other guys online. I've turned the mic on so they can hear us, and we can hear them if your alright with that" Oswald informed her

"Yeah that's fine Oswald"

"Good" he grinned as the screen loaded and they were now on the map waiting for the other guys to find them.

In reality, the mic never had been turned on, it was all part of a plan on Oswald's behalf to try and cheer her up, get her fire going once more.

I hope because she doesn't play Call of Duty often and on Xbox, that I can fool her into believing the mic is on without her realising. I mean Playstation and Xbox are different right?

He tried to push the thought away, as he forced himself to concentrate on the game instead. He started running around, only to be ambushed in a corner by one of the other guys who jumped up from behind a bus.

"Oh Shit!" he said out loud "Eivor I'm getting gunned down and I'm losing health, I need some backup here. I'm by the bus at the bottom corner of the map. Quick!"

Eivor looked on the map to her marker, it was quiet on her end being that the guys hadn't found her yet. She quickly used her avatar to sprint across the map to where Oswald was. Seeing that two of them were gunning him down, she quickly proceeded to shoot one of them down.

"Thank you Eivor" He thanked her, before he proceeded to gun down the other.

"Now we just need to find the other guy before he can collect our dog tags"

"Follow me" Oswald instructed as Eivor followed his avatar in the game.

They ran to the centre of the map, where Eivor was ambushed from behind by the online player who had used stealth to take out a knife.

"Eivor Watch out!" Oswald yelled, but it was too late.

Eivor was knifed to the ground in the game, as the enemy collected her dog tag and a notification came up on the screen saying "End of round: Red team 1. Blue team 0"

Oswald placed his hand on her shoulder reassuring her. "Hey Don't worry about it. We'll get them next time"

The next round wasn't any better, if anything worse. Eivor silently continued to play, losing motivation. Oswald could tell, she wasn't even trying and was deliberately getting herslf killed on purpose, running into grenades, not using cover, letting him get killed. He tried to encourage her once more.

"Come on Eivor, I could use a little help here! I'm doing all the work, We're meant to be working together!"

Oswald was ambushed once more again, but this time Eivor's avatar just stood in the distance watching him get shot to death, before she got knifed to death once more and didn't do anything about it.

The screen changed, indicating it was halfway and that the red team were winning 5-0 to the Blue Team, which was Eivor and Oswald's team.

He looked at Eivor who was still upset and moping. Oswald racked his brain in frustration to himself. I got to do something. I got to cheer her up. She's deliberately losing on purpose, because if she was playing normally it would be 5-0 now. I need her. I need my mate back.

Suddenly an idea popped into mind, This is probably a bit stupid, but if it can get her spirit going and angry again, maybe I can get her back to her usual self and turn this game around we have a chance still.

The countdown timer appeared on the screen, before it appeared again indicating that the second half was going to start.

At first, it was the same. Eivor refused to play harder, getting shot on purpose and dying quickly again and Oswald was mostly the one putting in the effort and carrying Eivor. He even saved her from death several times in the game, but it was pointless because she would find other methods to get herself killed in the game.

I know I'm going to sound nuts, as there is no mic and I'm going to be a looney talking to thin air, but I've got to try.

Pushing back his nerves, he started to frown. Ok. Get in the act, I know it's not real, but think about it as if it was. If there really were a bunch of boys being sexist to her in front of you, you would be mad wouldn't you.

"Excuse me What did you say? What did you say about my friend?"

Eivor turned around confused right at that very moment, at Oswald who seemed to be talking to someone on the mic while he continued to play.

"Is someone bothering you, Oswald?" Eivor spoke to him frowning

Oswald continued with his act, now that he knew he had Eivor's attention. Good, keep going. Keep going with the act. Make her believe.

"You think it's funny to laugh because she's a girl playing a video game? You think it's funny to be Sexist? You look down on her because she's a female playing a game?" he fumed

Eivor gasped as she immediately realised what was going on, he was getting worked up so she tried to defuse the situation.

"Oswald. It's fine. Just turn the mic off."

Oswald turned back to her "No. No it's not fine. I'm not just going to stand there and let them say their sexist shit. They're saying nasty things all because they discovered you were a girl playing Video games. I am not having it. I am not letting my friend get spoken down to like that. That's wrong. Females should be able to play games just as well. They shouldn't be saying that"

Eivor smiled as she felt warmth creeping up in her heart at Oswald's protective behaviour and defence for her. Until a sudden thought occured to her.

Hang on a minute. If he's hearing it through the mic, Shouldn't I be hearing the same thing from the mic? Confused and intrigued, she placed the Controller right next to her ear only to be stunned and shocked.

What the hell? There is no sound, There is no Sexist boys. He's making this up. Why though? What for?

Oswald continued with the act, unaware that Eivor had discovered the truth.

"That's right. You should be apologising. You bunch of Cowards who hide behind a screen. I would like to see you do it in front of my face. Try it and you'll see"

Feeling warmed and encouraged by Oswald's behaviour and words and inspired, Eivor decided to take things to another level.

Grabbing the controller again with new found determination, Eivor started playing harder and back to her usual level. Running around the map, she proceeded to shoot down the opposition as dogs tags were collected once more from their side and points started building up again.

"Go on Eivor, prove them wrong. Prove them dickheads wrong!" Oswald roared in encouragement.

Getting up closer to the TV, Eivor screamed towards the screen once more as she proceeded to shoot them all down.

"Take that! You think it's funny to talk to a girl like that? You think it's funny to be sexist all because of my gender? Well I'm having none of it. You can go to hell you selfish ignorant fucking arsehole pricks. I'm fucking finished with you!"

"Die you pricks!" she screamed as she gunned them all down

Seeing that Eivor was back to her usual self of screaming and shouting at the TV, Oswald smiled, glad that he managed to get her back to being herself and that Strybjorn's words weren't affecting her anymore.

It's good to have her back. Even if it required a little drama and improvisation on my behalf.

The match finished after, as the scores came up on the screen indicating that they had now won as Blue Team was 10 to Red Team's 5.

"We did it Eivor, We did it. I knew we could, we work well as a team" Oswald said coming up to her and giving her a fistbump,

"Ah" Eivor waved a hand dismissing "Nah. That was all you Oswald. You literally carried us. I didn't do nothing"

Oswald shook his head adamantly. "No. Eivor that was all you. You did all of it. Your a really good gamer. I believed in you. You've only been playing months but your already a lot better than me and I've been playing it for years, you know ever since I was tweleve. You haven't even touched Call of Duty prior to this and yet you still did it".

"Your good Eivor, really good. I mean that"

"Thanks Oswald. That really means a lot. I'm glad you think so"

"Of course. I really enjoy our time gaming together. I can never get enough of it. It's a shame though I wish we had longer. It always goes by so fast. My mum will be coming back from work soon, meaning you have to go which sucks because I wanted to continue with you"

"Me too. I wish. I will be back though for another session. We can catch up then"

"Alright. Thanks for coming Eivor, Take Care Yeah. Hugs"

Oswald reached over to Eivor as they clasped their hands in a bro shake, before they proceeded to tap each other's backs in a bro embrace.

"I will do. I'll text you later alright? I'll see you later"

" Alright. Bye" Oswald said back to her as he watched her open the door and leave, before he slumped down going back on the Xbox once more.

Author's Note: In case you haven't noticed since there are no tags on here unlike A03, Eivor has a classic case of ADHD. The fact that she can't play or do things quietly is a classic problem and issue. Strybjorn telling Eivor over off for being too loud was actually based on my own experience, as someone with ADHD I always struggled to do things quietly, ever since I was young due to the hyperactivity part. I did actually have someone say to me that they was scared of me because I was always raging and swearing at the TV while gaming (due to the fact that I couldn't keep quiet) so yeah.

Anyway hope you enjoyed this fic, if your here, leave a comment again as this buggy piece of crap hasn't fixed itself yet and there's no other way to tell views unlike A03, so if you did let me know in the comments below. It can be anything, I don't mind. Thanks for reading! See you next time!
