Hello! Welcome to my first story! I hope you enjoy this, fan-made mini-book on the amazing world of Pokémon! I've been wanting to make one for a long time! I am currently working on a Game.. and I wanted to test my creativity and see you guys would enjoy my story making and all! Regarding this story… I'd love to keep a consistent schedule for this story.. But I need to figure out a timeline when that would be good! When I have a solid schedule, I'll let you guys know and update this Author's Note. Also! Send me a message for any questions that you have or any suggestions you want to make.. I can't guarantee I will read them all but I will try my best! Along with that, not all suggestions will be added but if I see a good idea, I'll add it down the line.. I'll end this by saying I do not own any thing other than my own unique characters (though if Nintendo asked, Sure) I DO NOT OWN POKÉMON. ALL OF POKÉMON IS OWNED BY, Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and Game Freak. Any references to any technology or company is just used for story purposes, I do not own any trademark or copyright or franchise that are mentioned in this story.
Now! Let's get into the story!
Chapter One: Another Friday
Runo finally hears the bell ring. "Summer, here we go!" Runo whispers to himself. Runo is 5 foot 8 inches, fair skinned, dark brown eyes, and spiky hair. He wishes to have something interesting happen to him in his life.. Nothing ever interesting happens.. A new game releases? Gets boring after a month. A new cafe opens? Goes there once and forgets about it. It just gets boring and he wishes something would happen as if he would wake up becoming a Pokémon Trainer and set out on a journey or wake up with amnesia as a Pokémon! As seen in one of his favorite game series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. He knew that Pokémon aren't real, but still wishes for them to be real.
Runo soon arrived home on the bus, that would always take him home. As it drove away to drop off the other kids, he took a look at the number of the bus, 28.. Nothing came of it but bouts of nostalgia as it was gonna be the last year that would be running as it was getting old and needed replacement. The bus driver told him so.. After running up to his house, he was greeted by his parents while his sister was upstairs playing Roblox with her friend.
After he put his backpack on it's usual place. He rushed to the kitchen where he found the donuts that his family bought yesterday. After grabbing it, he rushed upstairs but then his mom needed help with the TV. Apparently, it had been crashing a lot as it was with these old online cable boxes. They needed to upgrade to an Apple TV or a Roku. At this point, it was just cheaper to go with them.
After Runo used the tried and true unplugging and replugging power. It still did not work. Runo tried more probable solutions. It didn't work. The Set-Top Box was dead. He called his dad over and explained everything. He also explained that getting a better one that was even cheaper was better. As the set-top box required 120 dollars monthly to work. A single payment of $150 would save a decent amount on the monthly cost of living.
Runo's dad said, "Makes sense, where could we buy the Apple TV?"
Runo knew a good place that would work with a coupon he found a while back and was meaning to use..
"Best Buy. Should work just fine!" Runo explained and exclaimed.
"Alright. We'll go tomorrow and get it. You know how to set it up?" Runo's dad asked
"Of course! Just plug it in then connect it to the internet. Easy." Runo proudly explained.
Runo was unable to eat his donut until now, when he finally reached the upstairs. The inside of his bedroom was empty on the decorations except one calendar. He had a rack of old video game consoles and new ones, featuring, The Switch, Xbox One, Wii, and N64. A decent range of consoles for a beginning collector.
He returned to his computer for the first time today. First thing he did was to check if he had any messages from his online friends. One of his best friends was a online friend of his. They have known each other for years, longer than half a decade. A very trustworthy friend and he even made his own music. Though to okay levels of success compared to other smaller creators. His online username was BlueKoala. Runo mainly referred to him by Blue.
"No messages as of yet." Runo said to himself.
Runo heard his phone ring, then his computer also rung as it showed his Mom calling.
"Hello?" His Mom asked through the computer screen. This was a useful feature, to accept calls that went to his phone on his computer. It made it easier to where Runo didn't have to move to go grab his charging phone.
"Hello? Hi Mom." Runo spoke into his microphone.
"Honey, we're sorry to tell you this but tomorrow, your dad and I are going to be attending this marriage ceremony we were invited to."
"Yeah, that's fine. When are you guys gonna be leaving?"
"Around 5 in the morning. It's a long drive, and we'll be gone for about a week.."
"Alright, tomorrow, I'm gonna be heading to Best Buy to grab that new TV set top box for you. I know you like to see your cat videos. Only if dad gives me some money to buy it." Runo stated but clearly as a way of asking if he could go.
"Sounds good! I'll let your dad know that and we'll give you the money when we leave or just put it on your desk." Runo's mom said.
"Okay, anyway, I'm gonna play a video so I'ma… y'know hop off."
"See you later honey!"
"See you!" Runo said as he shut the call off using one of those keyboard keybinds he has been testing, to help out with saving a few seconds of just moving the mouse.
A few hours have passed as he waits for his friend to get online. But, it's clear at this point, that he isn't going to be hopping on. It is pretty late for his trusted friend. At this time, Runo was feeling pretty hungry and wanted something to eat. He looked at the digital clock his computer had built-in, he saw that it was dinner time. While he walked downstairs, he thought about one of his teachers and the movie they watched with the rest of the class.
It was a Pokémon The Movie: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. The movie was pretty old by that point but a fun watch within the 1 hour and 10 minutes they had. When he thinks about it, Ash really does come off as a stuck-up kid during the Advanced Generation of the Anime. But he was glad that Lucario and Ash were able to make up, even saving the Tree and Mew at the end. Lucario even stopped Ash from sacrificing himself for the Pokémon of the tree and Mew. As Runo reached the downstairs he asked what food was being prepared. It was steak, rice, and mashed potatoes. The rice and mashed potatoes were always his favorite. The steak was a bit too chewy for him to handle so it took a while just to finish a bite of it. But he didn't mind, he was too busy being lost in thought. He was thinking of stuff that belonged in r/im14andthisisdeep.
As soon as he finished, he went upstairs. He felt really tired, all that popcorn that he received earlier that day was making him drowsy. He closed his eyes and it felt like it was some sort of time skip as he was already in the morning when he opened his eyes. He looked at his phone, it said it was 7am. Best Buy doesn't open for another 2 hours so he made breakfast for his sister and himself.
His sister was still asleep so he put it in the microwave and put a note saying, "Your dearesth brother has decided to prepare a most delicious early morning meal for your early morning hunger. (It's in here btw.)" He didn't know why he wrote it like he was straight from the 1700s but whatever. He went upstairs to get ready for the day. He wore his usual red running shoes. A red and black hoodie that he wears every other day. The final addition to his piece was his pants. They were ordinary blue jeans that helped tie the look together. Runo wasn't really a sucker for fashion. But these clothes were comfortable, it was just a coincidence that they matched.
By then, the store was close to opening and the walk there should give it enough time to get there by it's opening. A short walk to Best Buy allowed him to purchase the TV box his dad wanted, a Apple TV latest generation with 128GB of Storage. That is what his dad picked. With a Apple TV box in hand, he stuffed inside his hoodie so that no one targets him for if he gets robbed. Close to his home, he sees a shooting star. Wait.. Why was he seeing one during the daytime?
