As soon as it becomes completely light, we hastily eat something and pack our things. Frodo cannot possibly walk; so we divide the greater part of our baggage among the four of us, and set Frodo on Anduin. I take the hobbits to the Trollshaws forest because even though I could slow down the poison a little last night, it was not enough.

,,Hurry!" I tell the hobbits and increase my pace.

,,It's six days from Rivendell!" Sam cries. ,,He'll never make it." I lay Frodo down carefully and see that the wound is turning black. I don't have much time. I lay my hand on Sam's shoulder.

,,Do not lose hope now, Sam. There is always hope." I assure him. He nods, but doesn't look any less worried. I hover over Frodo now and look at his eyes. They are very pale now and his breathing is raspy. ,,There is always hope." I whisper, more to myself than anyone. Sam looks around, just like I do and we see three massive stone trolls surrounding us.

,,Look Mr. Frodo, it's Mr. Bilbo's trolls!" Sam tells the weak Frodo in hopes of trying to get a reaction. Frodo just turns his head to the side and gasps for breath. His eyes are foggy and pale. Sam feels his forehead. ,,He's turning cold." He tells me. I feel his forehead as well, his skin feels like ice. I draw my hand back and take off my cloak, wrapping it tight around Frodo to try and warm him.

,,Is he going to die?" Pippin asks me.

,,He's passing into the shadow world. He'll soon become a wraith like them." I answer and then we're startled by a Nazgul who screeches.

,,They're close!" Merry says.

,,Sam, do you know the Athelas plant?" I asked him hurriedly.

,,Athelas?"

,,Kingsfoil." A look of recognition crosses his face.

,,Kingsfoil. That's a weed."

,,It may help to slow the poison. Hurry and help me find some." I say. He nods and we run through the woodland, looking for the plant. I'm happy when I find the plant quickly and want to cut some but a sword against the side of my head makes me stop. Did the wraiths find us? But then again, if it were the wraiths, they would have just killed me right here and right now.

,,What's this? A ranger caught off her guard?" I smile hearing her voice and get up, after cutting the Athelas plant.

,,Aunt Arwen!" I say and hug her. ,,I'm so happy you're here. I want to ask you so many questions, but I need your help. I'm traveling with four hobbits and one of them has been stabbed by a Morgul blade." Arwen gasps.

,,Take me to him." I nod and lead her to Frodo. Arwen hurries to Frodo and I follow her because I have the Athelas. ,,Frodo, Im am Arwen. Im've tul- na help cin. Hear nin hu - tul- back na i galad." She says. Frodo gasps again, eyes wide.

,,Who is she?" Merry asks aloud. I walk over to Frodo, chew on some Athelas, while Arwen mops Frodo's brow.

,,She's an elf!" Sam exclaims.

,,He's fading." Arwen says. I press the chewed Athelas on Frodo's wound. My heart hurts when Frodo gasps in renewed pain. ,,He's not going to last. We must bring him to Elrond." Arwen says. I carry Frodo over to Arwen's horse. ,,Neuma, I've been looking for you for two days. There are five wraiths behind you, where the other four are, I do not know." I grab the horse's bridle.

,,Dartho guin perian. Rych le ad tolthathon." I say and mount the horse.

,,Hon mabathon." Arwen argues, but I shake my head.

,,Rochoh ellint im." I smirk at Arwen, knowing I beat her million times with races in Rivendell. ,,And besides; andelu i ven." Arwen gives me a worried look. ,,Avaro neath." I reassure her. ,,I promised Gandalf to take care of him and I'm keeping that promise. Nothing will happen to me, we both know Alsforth is the fastest horse. Not even those black riders can catch me." Arwen nods, knowing it's true.

,,Be careful." I nod. ,,Neuma." I look into my aunt's eyes again. ,,Frodo fîr. Ae athradon i hir, tur gwaith nin beriatha hon." I ignore the fact that she is only speaking of her people.

,,I do not fear them. Please lead the others to Rivendell safely."

,,Neuma. Ride hard, don't look back." I look down at Arwen as I support Frodo with one hand.

,,Noro lim, Asfaloth, noro lim!" I say to Arwen's white horse. The white horse jumped away and ran like the wind through the forest. At the same moment the black riders jumped behind me down the hill and the riders let out a terrifying cry. He is answered and to my dismay, four other riders come rushing from between the trees and rocks on the left. Two rides towards Frodo; two galloped furiously to the front to cut off my path. ,,Noro lim, Asfaloth!" Asfaloth now runs even faster, the riders behind me are now falling behind. Everyone knows that their big stallions cannot keep up with Arwen's fast white elf horse. I hear a final shrill when Asfaloth, with a final sprint, arrives at the river Bruinen. Without hesitation, Asfaloth leaps into the water and gallops through. As soon as Asfaloth is on the other side, I am sure that we have crossed the ford. But the pursuers are on my heels. On the bank I leave Asfaloth, turn him. There are nine horsemen at the water's edge on the other side, clearly nervous of the water.

,,Give up the half-ling, she-elf!" I draw my sword.

,,If you want him, come and claim him!" The ringwraith screeches angrily, draws her sword and leads the other wraiths across the Ford. The water starts flowing faster and I wait until they are halfway across before speaking the rhyme Elrond taught me, praying it will also work with half elves. ,,Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto Beth dear: Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair! Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto Beth dear: Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair!" The ground trembles, a mighty roar fills the air. I see Frodo look up weakly. I'm letting out a sigh of relief when I see that the spell worked. The water is flooding down the river towards the Ford, as if a dam had burst. The ringwraiths scream in terror as they are swallowed up in the deluge. Their pierced cries are downed in the roaring of the river as it carries them away. I smile, happy that I succeeded and quickly make my way to my grandfather, calling out for his help. I smile when I see him appear, but that's soon gone when Frodo loses consciousness. ,,No!" I lay him down. ,,Frodo, no! Frodo, don't give in, not now!" I gather him in my arms, crying. Elrond appears at my side and I look at him. ,,Let him be spared, save him!" I say. He nods and carries Frodo to one of the empty nursery rooms. I follow him.

,,Lasto beth nîn. Tolo dan na ngalad." Elrond says and I'm happy to see that it helps. I'm not too late! For a minute I thought that I was too late, but I know Elrond can cure him. I don't have to say anything because Elrond understands immediately that I want to stay with him. He nods and then leaves the room. I sit next to Frodo, taking his hand.

,,Don't give up, Frodo. There's still hope." I whisper before waiting until he wakes up again.
