Chapter 2: Origins Part 2

—-

Tokyo, Japan

On the top floor of the All Might Agency, Toshinori Yagi, otherwise known as All Might, is quietly sitting on his couch while watching the daily news. Having his penthouse on the top of his agency has some perks, such as never being late to work. Sitting at the edge of his couch, Toshinori is thinking about his encounter with a certain green haired teen just 2 days ago. Something has been itching at him since that day, telling him to seek out the kid.

Seeing the paper on his coffee table, Toshinori opens it and begins to read it while drinking his tea. As he begins to read, something catches his eyes in the Mustafa area. Slowly, he begins to read the article as he squeezes the new paper tighter and tighter. Unconsciously, Toshinori drops his tea on the ground as he stares at the newspaper in disbelief.

"This can't be." Toshinori thinks to himself.

Toshinori's body begins to tremble as he reads the title once more, "11 year old boy in critical condition after attempted suicide." He then looks at the photo of Midoriya Izuku, the photo of the kid he talked to just 2 days ago. Toshinori crumbles the paper in his hands in frustration.

"How can this be? Is this my doing?" The pro-hero thinks.

"Can I be a hero, even if I'm quirkless?" Izuku's questions rings through his mind.

Toshinori's eyes widened at the realization of it. He did this. He was the one that crushed that boy's dreams. What kind of hero is he? How could he be so stupid. What kind of hero is he to deny the dreams of a child. Getting up in a quick motion, Toshinori's body begins to smoke as his body grows bigger. Grabbing his phone he makes a quick call to his secretary.

"HELLO, YUKI? I WANT YOU TO CANCEL EVERYTHING I HAVE TODAY. I'M GOING TO BE BUSY. YES EVERYTHING IS FINE. THANK YOU." WIth his day free, Toshinori jumps off the building.

Mustafa Hospital

On one of the top floors of Mustafa Hospital, Midoriya Inko is sitting at the bedside of her only son. In the bed, Izuku's body is covered in bandages all around his upper body while he uses a breathing tube to help him breathe. Inko caresses her son's cheek as she holds his hand as she silently sheds a few tears. Suddenly a knock is heard at the door, waking her from her silent crying. As she opens the door, she is met by a tall, skinny, blonde man.

"Um, s-sorry but who are you?" The mother asks, closing the door behind her.

"Hello, Midoriya-san. My name is Toshinori Yagi." He shakes her hand as he makes his way to the other side of Izuku's bed.

"Can I ask why you're here?"

"I actually came to see young Midoriya here. I actually met him just 2 days ago." Toshinori sees the look of shock on Inko's face as her top lip quivers.

"S-so you saw my baby before it happened? Did you notice anything about h-him?" Inko asks the man.

"I want to be honest with you, Midoriya-san. The only way I can is if you agree to keep this conversation a secret." Seeing Inko look confused but nod her head, Toshinori lets out a sigh as he gets up. Inko watches as smoke begins to start coming off of Toshinori and suddenly, standing in front of her, is her son's Idol. All Might. Inko stares at All Might's blue eyes and begins to stutter out a few words but All Might raises his hand for her to stop.

"LET ME EXPLAIN first before you say anything." Toshinori suggested, now in his normal form. Inko nervously nods her head in acceptance. Toshinori lifts his shirt, revealing an injury to his side. Inko quickly covers her mouth in shock.

"3 years ago, I fought a villain. No one knows of this battle because I made sure everything was kept a secret. That fight almost cost me my life. Since then, the most I can do is about 3 hours of hero work before I return to this form."

"The day I spoke to young Midoriya, he was attacked by a villain that escaped me earlier in the day." Hearing those words, Inko turns to her son as tears begin to form. "I eventually found them and saved him, though he was unconscious for a few minutes. After waking him up and making sure he was fine, he asked me something that caught me off guard."

"What did he a-ask?" The mother asks.

"He asked me if someone quirkless, like him, can still be a hero."

"What did you tell him?" She could only imagine what he said to him. She soon finds out that her worst fears were right.

"I said no. I recommended that he find another profession. I'm sorry but I think I caused this, how could I call myself a hero when I deny the dreams of a child. Ever since then, I felt guilty that I never followed after him. If I did, then maybe he wouldn't be here." Toshinori looks at Inko and sees her approach him. She shakes her head in response.

"I-I think it wouldn't have mattered." Toshinori looks at her, a confused look on his face. "Ever since his father left us, when he was four, he was never the same. He's been in pain for years but I've never noticed or maybe I didn't want to." Toshinori looks towards Izuku, seeing his body full of bandages along with the ventilation system. He looks back at Inko and gets down on his knees.

"Please, forgive me. If it wasn't for me then young Izuku wouldn't be here." Toshinori begs. Inko's eyes widened in shock, quickly making her way down to Toshinori's level.

"Please, stand up. It's hard for me to admit but I'm also partly to blame. When I found out that Izuku was quirkless, he asked me the same question. Back then I didn't know what to say. All I could do was apologize but I never answered the question. I should have said something. Toshinori looks at her and embraces Inko as she cries. After a few minutes, both separate from the embrace as Toshinori decides to speak.

"If I may, I want to take over all the medical expenses. Including after young Izuku wakes up." This time Inko Midoriya really does pass out. After waking back up, Inko tries to refuse his help but Toshinori's words manage to convince her. Just before leaving, Toshinori makes one final request.

"Midoriya-san, before I go, do you think I can borrow one of young Izuku's notebooks?" Inko looks at him with confusion.

"His hero notebooks? I guess you can, I'll bring one with me tomorrow." Toshinori nods and thanks her as he leaves.

Aldera Junior High

Sitting in the middle of the classroom, Bakugo Satsuki is trapped in her own thoughts. Looking to her left, she sees an empty seat that belongs to a certain green haired kid. Biting her bottom lip, she can't help but worry since his seat has been empty for the past 3 days. Thinking back to the last conversation she had with him, she begins to think.

"Did I go too far this time?" Satsuki thinks to herself.

"Bakugo-san, are you listening?" Her teachers asks.

"Yeah, yeah. I heard ya." Satsuki growls out.

6 Months Later, Tokyo Hospital

In a private room in Tokyo Hospital, emerald green eyes begin to flutter open. After a few seconds, the emerald eyes fully open and begin to look around the beige room. Finally the eyes land on the person sleeping at the bedside. Izuku Midoriya has finally awakened from his coma. Izuku looks to his right and tries to lift his hand, barely managing to lift his bandaged right hand. Looking back to his mom, he tries to speak for the first time in 6 months.

"M-mom?" Izuku softly stutters. He repeats it more and soon enough he sees his mom begin to wake up. Inko rubs her eyes as she hears her son's soft voice. Looking up, Inko finally sees her son's eyes. Her eyes begin to tear up as she lunges at her son, hugging the life out of him while crying her heart out.

"My baby's awake!" Inko cries out. Izuku's eyes begin to water as he melts in the embrace of his mother. After a few minutes of crying together, the two greenettes separate from their embrace.

"M-mom, where am I-I?" Izuku asks his mother.

"You're in a hospital in Tokyo." The mother answers.

"T-Tokyo? W-why are we in Tokyo? H-how l-long have I been asleep?" Inko bites her bottom lip as she reluctantly answers.

"6 months." Izuku's eyes widened in shock.

"Mom, but the expenses. How are you able to pay for this?" Izuku berates his mother with questions. Inko is able to calm Izuku down before she answers his questions.

"There's someone who has been helping us through your recovery. He manages to get you moved here to get better care. Plus I got a new job in Tokyo that pays well and a new apartment here as well." Izuku looks at her in shock as he analyzes this new information. Just as their conversation begins, a knock on the door distracts them. The door opens and in walks a man that Izuku never met, but he watches his mother smile brightly as the man walks in. He closely watches as his mother and the blond man talk in a very friendly manner. Just then the man looks at him and walks to the opposite bedside from his mother.

"How are you feeling, young Midoriya." Toshinori asks formally.

"I'm f-feling a l-little sore and tired but alright for the most part. I-I'm sorry, b-but w-who are you." Izuku asks the blond man, who chuckles from the question.

"My name is Toshinori Yagi. I've been waiting a long time for you to wake up so we can have another conversation." Toshinori admits. Izuku looks at him confused.

"W-what do you m-mean, again?" Izuku asks. All he gets in response is a loud laugh from Toshinori as he steps back. Izuku watches with confusion but the answer to his question is given as Toshinori's body begins to smoke while slowly getting bigger. After the smoke clears, standing in front of Izuku is the #1 pro-hero in Japan, All Might.

"A-all M-might?! W-w-what a-are…." Izuku can't help but become a stuttering mess as he sees All Might pose. After getting Izuku to calm down, Toshinori returns to his normal form and begins to tell Izuku his story. The same story he told his mother 6 months ago. After finishing his tale, Toshinori gets down on his knees like he once did before.

"Young Midoriya, I ask you to forgive my foolishness. It was wrong for me to deny you your dream. I'm ashamed of my actions, so if you can find it in your heart, would you please forgive me." Toshinori says, as his head is on the ground. Izuku's face shows a sad smile as he looks at Toshinori.

"P-please, A-All M-Might, it's fine. You d-don't need to a-apologize for anything. H-honestly you were r-right about everything. I really c-can't be a h-hero." Izuku reluctantly admits. Izuku sees Toshinori jumps up from his knees and close in on Izuku.

"You're wrong, young Midoriya!" Toshinori exclaims.

"Since your accident, I've been reading your notebooks. All 13 of them. I must say, young Midoriya, you've got a brilliant mind." Izuku blushes in embarrassment from the praise.

"T-thank you, A-All Might, but that isn't enough to be a hero." Izuku says under his breath.

"What if there was a way for you to achieve your dream?" Toshinori asks.

"What do you mean?" Toshinori looks around and closes the room door, giving them privacy.

"What I'm about to tell you is a secret that has been kept for many generations. Your mother already knows this secret and I've been waiting to tell you." Toshinori smiles as Izuku slowly nods his head.

"3 years ago, I fought a villain that nearly took my life." Toshinori removes his jacket and lifts his shirt, revealing his horrific injury from the battle. "Ever since then I've been looking for a successor."

"A successor?" Izuku asks, receiving a nod from the pro-hero.

"For many years everyone has wondered about my quirk."

"Yeah, it's one of the world's greatest mysteries."

"That's because I didn't always have it." Izuku looks at him confused. Toshinori laughs as he continues, "I was like you. I was born quirkless." Both Inko and Izuku are shocked.

"Toshinori-kun, you didn't tell me that." Inko says.

"It's not something I can easily share with most people. Only 4 people know of this secret. See, I always wanted to be a hero. To be a symbol but sadly that dream seemed to fade away, but then I met my master. She was the only person who believed in me. She made my dream a reality. So, now I want to make yours a reality as well." Izuku's eyes widen in shock once more as his mother begins to tear up.

"My quirk has been passed down from generation to generation and its name is 'One For All'. Now I want to pass that power to you because I know you can be a hero." Toshinori explains to him, putting his hand on Izuku's shoulder.

Those words, those were the words Izuku had always wanted to hear his mother tell him all those years ago. Just someone to tell him that. Hearing his idol tell him that he can be a hero, were the words that broke the damn that held Izuku back. Letting his tears fall freely, Izuku begins to cry for the first time in years. Izuku continues to sob as he looks towards Toshinori.

"D-do I deserve this? After what I did, do you think I deserve it?" Izuku asks. Toshinori puts his hand on his shoulder as reassurance.

"After reading your notes and learning about you through your mother, I can't think of anyone else to be my successor." Toshinori assures him. Izuku takes in his words as he continues to cry.

"Once you are fully recovered and released, you will be attending a middle school here in Tokyo. You've spent years in pain at Aldera so I want you to have a fresh start." Izuku nods as one thing goes through his mind, Satsuki.

"Maybe this is for the best, she never really was my friend." Izuku thinks to himself.

"Also, once you're recovered we will begin training your body for the next year. As you are now, if you were to receive OFA your limbs will explode from your body."

"W-What?! E-Explode?" Both Midoriya's yell out. Toshinori smiles shyly as he puts his hands up.

"That won't happen because I will make sure your body is ready. After receiving OFA, I will train you in wielding that power. I'm assuming you want to get into UA High School right."

"W-Well Yeah, you went there so it has to be the best." Izuku confirms.

"Then that's the goal for now." Toshinori grins. Just then Inko bows as her tears continue to flow.

"Thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for me and my baby." Toshinori waves it off, letting her know it's nothing.

"I do have one condition, Young Midoriya."

"Anything."

"You will have to have weekly visits with a therapist. Your mental health is also important, especially if you're gonna be a hero. I want you to open up with me and your mother but if you can't then we want you to open up to someone." Toshinori smiles as he extends his hand. Izuku nervously nods as he takes it.

"I can't wait to see the hero you become, young Midoriya." Toshinori gives Izuku a large grin. Izuku smiles and nods in response.

Mustafa, Japan

In an apartment complex, just down the road from Aldera Junior High, Bakugo Satsuki is standing in front of an apartment. She lifts her hand to knock but puts it back down as she looks around. She looks at the name place next to the door and sees it faded but clearly reads 'Midoriya'. After a few deep breaths, Satsuki loudly knocks on the door.

"Deku! Get out here! You think you can miss school and I wouldn't notice!" Satsuki growls out.

"All I gotta do is say sorry and things will go back to normal." Satsuki thinks to herself. After knocking a couple of more times, Satsuki waits a few minutes but no response. Satsuki gets fed up and bangs on the door louder, yelling out 'Deku' loudly. Just then the door on her right opens up, a woman poking her head out.

"Can you please stop banging on that door." The woman asks, getting a scowl in return from the blonde girl.

"I'm looking for the Midoriya family, they won't answer the door." Satsuki quickly asks.

"That's because they're gone."

"What the hell do you mean they're gone?"

"I don't know, they moved out almost 5 months ago. Now if that's all, please leave."

"Wait! Do you know where they moved to or like a damn address?" All she gets in response is the woman shaking her as she heads back inside. Satsuki grits her teeth as she looks at the door once more before heading out.

Bakugo Family Home

Satsuki arrives home, slamming the door on her way in. Satsuki throws her bag to the side while tossing her shoes by the entrance. Satsuki walks in to find her father on the couch, reading a book, while her mom is in the kitchen.

"What the hell did I say about slamming the damn door, Satsuki!" Her mother, Mitsuki, yells from the kitchen. Satsuki walks into the kitchen, grabbing a bag of chips as she sits on the counter.

"Hey, old hag, do you know where the Midoriya's moved?" She asks her mother. Mitsuki stops stirring as she glances at her daughter.

"Why do you want to know?" She curiously asks.

"Well It's been a while so I want to know where Deku is hiding."

"Shut up Satsuki! Don't call him that."

"Why, that's what he is!" Just then, Satsuki feels a painful sensation on her left cheek. Looking back at her mother in shock, Mitsuki stares at her daughter in disgust.

"They're gone and after what you put that boy through, they made the right choice." Satsuki stares at her mother in shock. Getting up, Satsuki angrily stomps out of the kitchen, pushing her dad out of the way as she makes her way to her room.

Slamming her door shup, Satsuki sits on her bed, clenching her fist. Satsuki looks towards her nightstand, picking up a picture frame. Looking at the picture, it's a picture of her and Izuku as children, playing in the sand with an All Might toy. She slowly pulls the picture frame to her chest as tears slowly begin to fall from her cheek.

"I-I'm sorry. I'm so sorry….Izuku." Satsuki whispers.
