Chapter XXIII
It had been a few weeks since Naruto returned with Tsunade and so far nothing had been done to go after Sasuke who had vanished during the invasion. Naruto was getting pretty angry with the council stonewalling Jiraiya about sending a team after Sasuke.
"What do you mean the Council won't allow a search party. Sasuke is a fucking noble of Konoha and the last loyal Uchiha in the village!" Naruto yelled.
"I know Naruto but the council thinks our first priority should be to rebuild the village after the joint invasion from Oto and Suna." Jiraiya said calmly, trying to calm Naruto.
"You're the fucking Hokage you have the final say." Naruto ranted.
"It's not that simple Naruto." Jiraiya said with a sigh. "I may have final say but the council still has a great deal of power in the running of the village."
"Fine, I'll go by myself and find Sasuke." Naruto said and stormed out of the office.
Once Naruto was out of the office and out of ear shot Tsunade spoke up.
"Is it wise to let him go by himself?" Tsunade asked.
"No but we have no other choice." Jiraiya said with a sigh. "Officially Naruto is going rogue all for the sake of his friend."
"Can't we send all of team seven with him?" Tsunade asked.
"No, not without listing the whole team and going rogue." Jiraiya said. "We have to hope Naruto is strong enough to handle himself and bring Sasuke back."
"What about the Akatsuki?" Tsunade asked. "Naruto is strong but not even he is ready to face s ranked criminals by himself."
"I know we have to keep the fact that Naruto has gone rogue from reaching other villages and especially the Akatsuki." Jiraiya said.
XxXNaruto and Sasuke's ApartmentXxX
Naruto was in his and Sasuke's apartment in his room with his go bag. He knew that going off without the approval of the Hokage and against the village meant he was officially a nuke nin but he didn't care his best friend was Kami knows where undergoing kami knows what and the council didn't seem to give a rat's ass. So Naruto was going against the village and going after his friend alone. Just one problem: Naruto didn't have a vast network of spies to feed him intel nor did he have any clues to go off about who had abducted Sasuke. No, Naruto was completely alone in his search for his friend.
As Naruto was packing his bag he heard a knock on the door of the apartment. Going to answer the door he saw Kakashi and Kiba with their bags on their shoulders ready to leave.
"Kakashi-sensei, Kiba what are you doing here?" Naruto asked surprised.
"We're going with you." Kiba said.
"Who told you I'm going anywhere?" Naruto asked, knowing Jiraiya would never allow this.
"The less people who know about this the better Naruto just accept that you aren't alone in your search for Sasuke." Kakashi said.
"Thanks guys." Naruto said before moving aside. "Come on in."
Kakashi and Kiba entered the apartment and Naruto looked around the street making sure no one saw them enter.
"I've almost finished packing, hangout in the living room while I finish packing." Naruto said.
Naruto went back to his room to finish packing; he knew that with all three of them leaving that effectively team seven was no longer loyal to Konoha. When Naruto finished packing he came to the living room where Kiba and Kakashi were waiting.
"We won't be using an exit to leave the village, we will scale one of the walls no one can know we left the village." Naruto said. "I'm sorry for dragging you two into this but I also thank you for coming."
"Naruto, you never had to ask us for help, Sasuke is our teammate too." Kiba said.
"We should leave before anyone notices us." Kakashi said.
With that Team Seven left the apartment and left the village.

It had been a few days since Team Seven had left the village and people were starting to ask questions. First was Tsume Kiba's mother; she had noticed that Kiba hadn't returned from his so-called mission that should have only taken a day or two to complete.
"Jiraiya-sama Kiba hasn't returned from his mission. Have you received word about what's taking him and the rest of Team Seven so long in returning?" Tsume asked.
"I never sent Team Seven on a… Oh shit they went after Naruto." Jiraiya said in realization.
"What do you mean they went after Naruto?" Tsume questioned.
"Naruto went after Sasuke alone and it seems the rest of Team Seven went after him without my knowledge or consent." Jiraiya explained.
"Naruto went after Sasuke? Alone?" Tsume asked.
"Not alone." Tsunade said. "I asked Team Seven to go with him."
"Tsunade I respect you but you shouldn't have acted without my consent." Jiraiya said.
"I was already risking Naruto Jiraiya. I couldn't risk you saying no on sending Team Seven with him." Tsunade argued.
"You're right but now I have to list all of Team Seven as Missing Nin." Jiraiya said.
"If it brings Naruto and Sasuke back safely I'll risk it." Tsunade said calmly.
Jiraiya sighed as a knock came to his office door.
"Enter." Jiraiya called out.
The door opened and in walked Kurenai, Asuma, and Gai.
"Hokage-sama Kakashi has gone missing." Kuenai said in a worried tone.
"I know. He and Kiba joined Naruto in his search for Sasuke. They are Missing Nin." Jiraiya explained. "And no I can't have your teams go after them."
"Then we have no choice but to rely on their own strength." Asuma said.
"Curse Kakashi and his cool hip attitude. Why would he leave without letting us know?" Gai asked.
"To minimize the number of people who knew they left." Tsunade replied. "It's safer for them if fewer people know they left."
"As of this moment Team Seven is on a mission to bring back Sasuke and as much as it pains me they are missing nin." Jiraiya said.
"Jiraiya-sama can't you just list them as active shinobi on a prolonged mission\?" Tsume asked.
"I could but the council has deemed finding Sasuke as not being a priority thus I can't have Team Seven set as an Active team looking for Sasuke." Jiraiya explained.
"Then list them as being on an undercover mission." Tsunade said.
A/N: Hey all Azrael here with a new chapter in Wings of a Butterfly. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter shorter than normal but I wanted to extend the search for Sasuke beyond more than one chapter and to show that Naruto isn't the only one worried about Sasuke. Yes, the elder council knows who has Sasuke and are being bribed by Orochimaru to remain quiet. I wonder how this will play out.
