"We can't just let him die!" Adam shouts. After receiving a ransom message from a kingpin showing Halstead being beaten mercilessly and being held for ransom all of intelligence has two options: either they give the files that they have to the gang or the gang kills Halstead. All of the CPD is backed into a corner here if they give the files to the gang in exchange for Jay's life then they will go after every CI and they're families on that file so giving them the files would be a death sentence for everyone on there and who even knows if the gang members will be true to their word and let jay live? Yet if they don't they'll kill Jay anyway and everyone in intelligence is not willing to sacrifice Jay hell no they know they can't give them the files but they also know if they don't Jay will die and they most likely go after someone else on the force so they're gonna have to think outside the box in order to stop the gang and save Jay. "We have to give them the files they're gonna kill jay if we don't!" Adam argued but not seeing the bigger picture if they do "no we can't I got CI's and their families on there, they'll be targets for these assholes" Antonio said "so what are you saying? We just let Jay die?" "You think I wanna sacrifice Jay?" "Enough!" Hank shouts, getting everyone's attention. "Look I know we're all worried about Jay but at this point it seems no matter what decision we pick these assholes will probably just kill them anyway once they get what they want" the others look down in despair knowing he's right they'll probably just kill Jay and whoever they send anyway once they get the files so what we're they gonna do it seemed Jay was dead either way. Hank's face lit up with realization maybe they can't save Jay but he knows that he can, his methods go against every rule and everything that the CPD stand for but Hank knows that he's reliable and Hank trusts him to an extent but right now he is Jay's only chance and besides desperate times call for desperate measures and right now this is definitely the most desperate of measures relying on a vigilante that plays by rules that the CPD wouldn't agree with but at the same time understand to a point. Hank steps out of his office to call this man. Hopefully he'll help after all he came through in the past for intelligence. He had a feeling he'd come through again. What does he get out of it? Hank doesn't arrest him, which is a pretty fair deal. He knows the others wouldn't agree but he doesn't need them either. "I think I know of someone who can help" Hank brings up, being careful not to mention who he was referring to "who?" Lindsey asks "my guy in the FBI I can get him to help he'll know what to do" Hank lied, everyone else seemed to have bought it except for Al Hank knew he couldn't lie to his best friend but Al understood what had to be done. Hank stepped out of the office to make the call pulling the number out of his wallet typing the digits into his phone Hank puts the phone up to his ear hearing it ring a couple times before the line picks up "who is this?" a gruff and scratchy voice picks up on the other end "it's me" "you made sure the line is secure right?" Hank rolls his eyes at the assumed incompetence "of course" "so sarge it's been a while since I've heard from you what do you want this time?" "Look Aiden you remember our agreement I ask for your help whenever I need it and in return I keep you out of Jail" "yeah I didn't forget I'm not a fucking idiot, but I know that you wouldn't call me unless you were desperate which usually involves some kind of suicide mission and I'm guessing you're other friends in intelligence don't know about our fruitful arrangement because you know that sometimes you need to break a few teeth to serve justice and since you know you can't without the others around that's when you come to me so let me ask you again what the hell can i do ya for this time?" "Look. . .just meet me ok I'll tell you everything when we link up but for now I'm gonna need you to trust me on this." There was silence on the other end for a little bit. Hank wondered if he had hung up. "Alright I'll play ball, but I will pick the meeting place and don't try anything you know I always have a trick up my sleeve to get me out sticky situations" "yeah yeah I know can you just cut the shit and tell me the meeting place" "tonight, the silos, outside of town i think you know where it is? After all that's where you go to perform your more "interesting" forms of interrogation" Hank sighs knowing exactly what he's talking about after all he knows the Fox ain't just a vigilante but also a very experienced hacker who knows how to gain the upper hand in any situation "fine I'll see you there" there was a short pause before the man on the other end says "don't keep me waiting" Hank hears the phone click and then a dial tone. Hank shoves the phone back into his pocket as he sighs and rubs his head anxiously as he mutters softly to himself "aww hell". Later that night Hank is driving anxiously to the silos to meet up with this "secret contact" of his with a whole bunch of thoughts rushing through his mind Hank knows that this guy is affective but his methods compared to his own goes against everything a cop stands for but Hank understands better than anyone that in order to serve justice you need to break a few fingers first which was the messed up part Hank knows he has had to do some questionable things to criminals things that the others most likely wouldn't agree with, usually the others would just turn a blind eye to what hank would do mostly because they're terrified to argue with him in that situation. Hank pulls up to the silos seeing another car on the end with the lights on, with a figure sitting on the hood "that must be him" Hank thought to himself. He looked exactly as he did in the news and other times when Hank saw him brown trench coat, black hat with a strange symbol on it, white sweater, black neck warmer it also had a strange symbol too. Hank got out of his car and started to walk towards the man, hops off the hood and walks over to hank with his hands in his pockets the two meeting in the middle the masked figure spoke first "had to make sure you came alone, no offence" "none taken" the man inhales and deeply and than exhales saying "so sarge what was so important that we needed to get out to the middle of podunk nowhere for?" Hank sighs and looks to his left before saying "one of my officers was taken hostage by a gang we were investigating and they told us that they will trade him for all of our files on them, but if we do then every CI and their families on those files will be targets for them but at the same time if we don't they'll kill him" Aiden taps his chin with his finger thinking for a moment "well it sounds like they're gonna kill your guy no matter what you choose, there's no honour among thieves ya know" hank ponders for a moment before saying "I know and that's where you're skills come in" Aiden raises his eyebrow at the cop before saying "so what you're asking of me is you want me to save your man right" Hank sighs deeply and says "yes" with slight hesitation knowing exactly what this guy is going to do "alright I'll do it I can't ignore a cry for help and plus I have the advantage over them because it'll be a female cop they'll expect once they see it's me they'll slip up and panic and that's what will get them killed" Hank nods in understanding "when and where is this exchange taking place?" "tomorrow night, at the sienna brick factory, in Brandon Docks" Aiden was thinking for a moment about the perfect strategy to save Halstead but also to make sure these guys don't come back. Aiden knows he doesn't always need to kill his targets to solve a problem he just needs to scare them out of the city and give them an incentive to never come back to Chicago "Hmm I've got an idea, I know how to save your guy" Hank looks at him puzzled "what is it?" "That's for me to know, all you need to do is keep your people in check and let me do what I do best" Hank grumbles in an agreement knowing he was right. As Aiden walks back to his car Hank calls out to him "Pearce!" Aiden looks back at him "don't kill them, the gang members" Aiden scoffs and fires back "You don't get the right to chew me out for killing bad guys in cold blood when you know damn well you do the exact same shit as me right?" Hank was about to say something but he just shuts his mouth and looks down knowing that Aiden was right "that's what i thought, don't worry about my methods alright you just back off and let me do what I do best" Aiden gets back in his car and drives off into the night as Hank does the same at first hank seemed a little startled but knows that he does the same thing Aiden does but the only problem is Aiden has his own set of rules he doesn't wear a badge or report to anyone, he is his own boss and that's what scares Hank the most is that. Aiden can go as far as he wants and not face any consequences to a higher power sure cops will be gunning for him but it's not like he cares or anything but hank knows better not to interfere in the Vigilante's business no matter how much it goes against everything hank is as a cop but if he wants Jay back safely and the CIs on those files safe and sound he has to trust Aiden will save him no matter in what way he will save him. (The next evening) Aiden is driving to the Bricks to meet up for the exchange little did they know that these assholes were in for a nasty surprise and after tonight these boys ain't gonna wanna set a foot back in Chicago. Driving up to the Bricks Aiden sees three cars with the lights on and 7 other gang members standing outside armed to the teeth and they see a guy with a bag over his head on his knees with his hands tied behind his back "that must be him" Aiden thought to himself stepping out of the car, with his mask up walking towards the gang with his hands in his pockets as he stopped walking maybe 2 feet away from the gang members the leader he seemed spoke up "who the fuck are you cracker?" "I'm the one the CPD sent" the leader looked annoyed saying "I said to send a female officer and the files" Aiden scoffed "and why is that? Afraid to take on someone your own size huh?" Aiden noticed the leader was getting ticked "listen asshole there's seven of us and one of you what do you think you're gonna do?" at that moment one of the members behind the Leader dropped to the ground dead with a bullet hole in his head, the five remaining members started to panic, looking around frantically trying to find out where that shot came from they know it didn't come from Aiden he was standing right in front of them, he wouldn't have been able to get a shot off right? When the leader pointed his gun at Aiden to shoot him he noticed a red dot on his chest and stopped dead in his tracks, he looked behind him and noticed the other with red dots on their chests and they don't move that's when Aiden speaks up saying "I would advise not doing anything stupid because if you do anything to me or to him you're all dead in a heartbeat so unless you wanna live I suggest you drop your guns and put your hands up. The Leader shaken by this warning turns his head around to the others and says "do what he says boys" the other five comply and put their guns down and their hands up shaking Aiden lets out a soft chuckle at their visible fear and says "you see I should let you know a little something the guys behind me the ones who sniper rifles pointed at all of you are fixers, I paid them to be my security detail if you will. A little thing you should know about fixers is that they're loyal to no one but a paycheck whoever pays them the most that is who they're loyalty goes too and right now the only thing they need to know is that I'm paying them a shit load of money to protect me and the cop you have hostage there and well that's who I'm here for, so here's the deal: you give me the cop you have there and I will let you boys go" the leader looks back at his crew and then looks back at Aiden saying "and if I say no?" Aiden chuckles before saying "then the next trip you'll be taking is at the bottom of the Chicago river." The leader looks down defeated he has no other option but to give Jay over to Aiden "alright asshole you win take the cop" Aiden walks over and picks Jay up off the ground taking the bag off of his head "go over to my car and wait for me there" Aiden tells jay, Jay nods and stumbles over to Aiden's car clutching his side in pain. Aiden begins to walk away from the gang members but stops when the leader shouts "this isn't over pal. We will find you and kill you" Aiden smiles sadistically under his mask and says back to them "no you won't after tonight you won't ever set foot back in Chicago ever again because as you were monologuing I was able to get all the details on you and your boys behind you and gave to my friends back there, they know who you are now so here's what you're gonna do: you and your boys are gonna get in your cars and drive far away from this city and you ain't ever gonna come back because if you do I paid the fixers behind me double to kill the rest of you if you come back." The gang members are stone cold terrified due to the fact that this guy has connections that go beyond the CPD, he's a cold blooded killer even if it's not him pulling the trigger and most of all they don't know who this guy is other than the fact that he's Cruel, cold, calculating, cunning and ruthless but he is definitely no cop, no cop hires hitmen as security "Ok we'll leave, we won't come back but you gotta give us your word that you won't kill us as soon as we leave" Aiden walks over to the leader and coldly stairs at him saying "Unlike scumbags like you I'm a man of my word and I don't break it. But you remember something, this is your one and only warning. You come back to my city and this brick factory will become your grave." Aiden walks away from the gang opening the passenger side for Jay helping him get in, he walks around to the driver side and gets in driving away leaving the once cocky gangbangers thinking they had the upper hand to a couple of dead scared guys who had to get the hell out of dodge and quickly. Driving down the road Jay, still clutching his side wincing in pain, looks at his masked saviour and asks "where are you taking me?" Aiden keeping his eyes on the road answers saying "Chicago Med, your friends are already waiting there for you"
Jay was confused by all this. Who was this guy and who sent him? Wanting answers Jay sits up in his seat and asks "who are you?" "I'm the guy who just saved your ass and that's all you need to know about me as far as your concern is I'm a ghost." Jay is still confused wondering why this guy would say something like that and asks the man "ok then who sent you?" Aiden grunts gingerly before saying "Sergeant Voight '' Jay looks at the road surprised but at the same time kind of expected "and before you ask, no i'm not a cop and how does Voight know me? Let's just say we have a somewhat mutual understanding. Jay just stared straight ahead at the road in front of him realising this guy who saved him isn't gonna tell him anything "thank you" Jay says to the man grateful for saving him "don't mention it" Aiden says. A little while later Aiden and Jay arrive at Chicago med but Jay wonders what this guy is gonna do next. He knows that they're are a shit ton of cops in there and if they see him with his arm around a masked man's shoulder they'll probably mistake him for one of his attackers. "So what's your plan here? You know you can't just walk right in there they'll probably mistake you for my kidnapper or some shit" Jay remarks. Aiden looks into the lobby of the hospital for a moment and looks back at Jay and says "I stole this car earlier from one of the assholes who kidnapped you, I didn't want to use my car for obvious reasons so you here's what you're gonna do: You're gonna get out of this car and walk inside, your friends are already in there and you'll say that you managed to give your kidnappers the slip and stole this car." Jay looks kind of dumbfounded for a moment, this guy seems a bit confident are they gonna really believe that I somehow managed to get away. "Are you sure they're even gonna believe that?" Jay questions "Yeah think about they're a bunch of idiot criminals who got way in over their heads by kidnapping and holding a cop for ransom and not just any cop but a member of intelligence who's ex military and has been in stickier situations than getting kidnapped by a couple of over confident gangbangers who stupidly thought they had the upper hand and grossly underestimated you and that's your story." Jay looks away for a moment pondering about this whole situation. Let's see he was kidnapped, held for ransom, saved by some strange masked man and is told that his story is that miraculously escaped from his captors somehow to say that this hasn't been one strange week would be an understatement. Just as Jay was about to step out of the car and stumble into the hospital Aiden grabs his arm and looks into his eyes saying "I want you to remember something the moment you step out of this car you don't know me, you never saw me, you don't even remember what I look like and you blab to anyone about me and I will make your life a living hell, that ain't a threat that's a fact because I'm telling you right now you don't want me as an enemy you got me?" Jay looks dead eyed at the man knowing that he wasn't bluffing either, whoever this guy was he gives off the message of: I can give but I can also take away. "Yeah I got you" Jay assures Aiden "good you better get going you look like you took one hell of a beating from those assholes and don't worry after tonight they're never coming back to Chicago, Jay nods as he steps out of the vehicle and Aiden does the same disappearing around the corner as he was walking away he could hear shouts of happiness and relief coming from the hospital Aiden smiles to himself knowing his work was done as he was walking away he heard a sharp whisper from across the parking lot glancing to his right he saw it was Voight gesturing for him to come over, Aiden checks his surroundings to see if anyone was watching once he decided the coast was clear he walks over to the sergeant leaning up against his car. "So I guess we can call this mission accomplished?" Hank remarks extending his hand to shake Aiden accepts the handshake saying "you could say that and if you're wondering no I didn't kill them but after tonight they ain't never coming back to our city" Hank sighs in relief knowing Aiden didn't kill them sure hank wouldn't have mind but he's grateful nonetheless "see ya around sarge" Aiden says turning around walking away "Aiden!" Hank shouts, Aiden turns around acknowledging Hank "thank you for saving Jay" Aiden nods saying just before walking away "I may be the vigilante sarge but don't be mistaken we fight for the same thing: to defend our city" Hank nods and gives Aiden a half smile just before the two parted ways. Hank is reassured knowing that even though some bad guys can slip through CPD's grasp at times but one things for sure: no one in Chicago escapes the Fox's justice.
