Real World
Leviamon observed Takato as he was walking to school while invisible. He wanted to see if he was fit to be the leader of the Tamers.
'Hmm, let's see what this human is capable of.' Leviamon thought to himself.
Takato continued walking, unaware he was being watched.
"Hello Takato." A girl's voice got his attention.
He looks around after hearing it. A brown-haired girl was coming closer.
"Who are you?" Takato asked.
He knew he was close to Ken's apartment. So in case he needed to make a break for it, he could get to Ken. "How do you know me?"
"My name's Jeri Katou." She introduced herself.
"Um, okay." He rubs the back of his neck.
"How do you know me?" He asks. "From school?"
"You could say that." Jeri responded to his question.
"What can I do for you?"
"Do you want to walk to school together." Jeri offered.
"Sure." Takato accepted her offer.
They walked together and eventually arrived at their destination.
Leviamon glanced at Jeri and a sense of familiarity surfaced. He had a strong desire to abandon his plan, but five tail slaps convince him to focus.
'Why does it feel like I know her?' Leviamon thought.
"She's going into that building." Leviamon muttered to himself. "All these children are going into that building. Is it a prison for children."
Takato and Jeri then walked forward.
"Hmm." Leviamon hummed wondering if he should continue to follow.
A still invisible Leviamon prevented Takato from entering the school. He then became visible.
"Would you mind coming with me?" Leviamon asked Takato.
Takato was conflicted.
"I have to get to class." He replied.
Leviamon then followed Takato inside the school. The Digimon's size disrupted everything as his presence was quickly noticed.
Takato grabs Jeri's arm and runs into Kari's classroom through the whole chaos quickly closing the door.
"What is going on out there?!" An alarmed Kari demanded. Gatomon jumped from desk to desk while the kids who came in huddled in front of their teacher's desk.
"A wild Digimon is in the school!" Takato answered.
In his office, Tai rubbed the back of his head and sighed heavily as he looks through the papers on his desk.
"I'm telling you, Tai." Agumon said as he pushes a stack of papers towards the wall. "We need a better filing system."
"I like my mess Agumon." Tai said just as a stack of papers from a file cabinet start to wobble when Agumon bumps into it. Suddenly the door burst open as Joe falls face first into the office and Izzy leans heavily on the door as he breaths heavily startling Tai and Agumon.
"Joe! Izzy!" Tai exclaimed. What's wrong? Where's the fire?"
Gomamon tumbled out of Joe's bag, while Tentomon finally caught up. "We got trouble at the school!"
"Matt shot me a text. He, T.K and Sora are on their way there now." Joe breathed out, finally catching his breath as he pushes himself to sit on his knees.
The Digidestined with their Digimon race to the school as Leviamon roams the halls looking for Jeri. Cole silently moves through the halls and bumps into Henry Wong and Rika.
"What's happening?" Cole asked. "One minute you're in the restroom and then there's chaos."
"There's a wild Digimon in the school." Henry answered. "You must be new. I haven't seen you around here before."
"Yep." Cole smiles. "Cole Kamiya."
"Henry Wong."
"Can we be formal later?" Rika scoffed. "The school's on lock down in case you boys haven't noticed."
"Don't mind Rika." Henry said. "She can be a-"
"Digimon coming this way!" Rika yells, grabbing both boys and they hurry down a different hallway.
"A little pushy." Cole finished for Henry, who nods.
"We need to find a way out." Henry said, his eyes scanning the hallway.
"My dad is the leader of the Digidestined." Cole told him. "And my aunt, Miss. Kamiya is one of the teachers here."
"But her classroom's on the other side of the building." Rika said.
"Let's hurry." Cole insisted.
They meet up with Takato in Kari's classroom.
Leviamon sniffs Takato, Rika and Cole before realizing they're partnered with Digimon.
All of the Digidestined needed to hurry and get to the school. It didn't take long for them to arrive and they were on the defensive.
In the classroom...
Takato and Cole stare at each other with cold expressions on their faces. The two had one thing in common. Tai.
"Boys, stop it!" Mimi yelled at him. "Tai!" She turns to glare at him.
"Tai, get your tail in this building now!" Kari yells into her cell phone. With her back turned, she doesn't see the classroom door opening slowly and Rika's head pokes in.
"Takato Kamiya!" She whispered as he stood near the door, gaining his attention.
"Huh?" He asks, before she reaches for his arm and yanks him out.
"Miss. Kamiya!" Some of the kids try to get her attention. The kids were all running up to her.
Gatomon leaped onto a desk. "Kari! Takato's gone!"
Kari's eyes widen as she turns to her Digimon partner. "What? Tai get your butt over here now!" With that she hung up. "Gatomon, be ready for anything!"
"Right."
"I am not leaving everyone, but if that Digimon comes in here."
"Honestly Kari, I think I'd rather face off with the Digimon Emperor again." Gatomon admits.
"I don't think Ken would like that." Kari commented.
/
The Digidestined and their Digimon stood in the entrance of the school.
"Okay, Kari isn't helping me at all!" Tai groans, stuffing his cellphone in his pocket.
"Nice going block head, you made him mad!" Cole's voice is heard.
"Hey, it was better than what you were doing, static head!" Takato's voice is heard.
"Now they sound like brothers." Yolei mutters to Matt, who smirks.
"Sounds a lot like myself and Tai."
There was a loud crash and four voices yell.
"There he is!" Henry's voice yells.
"Watch out, run for it!"
The Digidestined and their Digimon partners run down a hallway, then they come up to a large Digimon.
"Whoa!" Izzy gasped as they all saw four kids in the corner of the hall.
"Takato! Cole!" Tai yells.
"Dad!" The two boys call back, then look at each other. "He's my dad!"
"No, he's mine!" Cole glares back.
"Guys, stop!" Henry yells. "We've got a situation here!"
Leviamon walks closer.
"Pepper Breath!"
"Spiral Twister!"
"Poison Ivy!"
"Super Shocker!"
"Blue Blaster!"
"Boom Bubble!"
The six attacks slam near Leviamon, causing him to jump backwards.
"Kids, get over here now!" Tai orders. The four kids hurry towards the adults.
"Dad!" Takato and Cole exclaim, then glare at each other.
"He's my dad!" They glare at each other some more.
"And here we go again." Davis shook his head.
"Those children." Leviamon began.
"Are not yours!" Davis calls, turning to his partner. "Veemon!"
"Right."
"Hawkmon." Yolei calls, turning to her own Digimon partner.
"Going in!"
The two Digimon hurry to stand between the humans and Leviamon.
"I mean no harm. Those children, I can help train them."
"Like we'd believe a wild Digimon who walks into a school full of children!" Matt hollered.
"Let me show you then." Leviamon sighed at their outburst. He really wasn't in the mood for this.
Around the same time...
Varodurumon had finally met Yamaki. He had just left the Hypnos building.
Meanwhile...
"Now would be a good time to tell the boys." Sora told Tai, poking his arm causing him to take a deep breath.
"Right."
"What? You mean to tell me that you mmffmmff-" Davis is cut short of his shock when Matt slaps his hand over Davis' mouth.
"Shut up, Davis!" Matt gave him a glare.
Both Takato and Cole look at Davis, then at Tai.
"What's Davis talking about?" Takato asked.
Tai grabbed both of his sons and pulled them into an empty classroom.
"Takato, I didn't want to tell you this way." Tai began. "But meet your brother. This is Cole."
Takato folds his arms.
"What?" He stares at Tai. "But that's not-" He trails off.
"I'm older." Cole puffs his chest out. "So that means he's my dad first!"
Takato stares.
"Does...does mom know about this?" He asked, staring at Tai, who nods.
"Oh yeah." Tai said. "She knows." He walked up to Takato and knelt down in front of him. "Cole's mom is my ex. Sometime later, I met your mom."
"I still don't like this." Takato folds his arms grumpily, just as Joe pokes his head into the classroom.
"Tai, Kari's coming down the hall and she's as mad as Kuwagamon." He warns.
/
Outside the school, Meiko stood next to Ken and Wormmon.
"Why can't I go into the school?" Meiko asked in concern.
"The school's still in lock down. That rough Digimon hasn't come out yet and Tai and the others haven't either." Ken answered. "It's best to stay here for now."
Meiko started to chew on her lower lip, as she did Bianca walks up to her side.
"Uh oh." Wormmon said, worrying about the reaction as his eyes shifted from the blonde to the raven and then back.
"It's okay Wormmon." Bianca reassured him. "We know."
The front doors of the school open to reveal the Digidestined, their Digimon partners and the rough Digimon.
"Stay here." Ken ordered, before jogging over to them. "Is this the rough Digimon."
"I am Leviamon. I mean no harm."
That shocked both Ken and Wormmon.
"Huh?" Wormmon gasped in disbelief.
"It's true." Davis nods. "This big guy is one of the good guys. And he wants to find his human partner."
Ken sighs heavily. "That's good to know."
Tai, with one hand on Takato's shoulder and the other hand on Cole's shoulder walked up to Bianca and Meiko.
"Mom!" The boys ran and grabbed their respective mother, as they hugged their respective mother they glared at each other.
"Can I take him home now?" Meiko asked as Ken walked over with Yolei by his side.
"Yeah." Ken nods. "School's been closed for the day."
"Thank you." Meiko nods, pulling away from Cole's hug as she took his hand.
"Your grandparents are here Cole." She told him, making him beam.
"That's great!" He turns to see Henry walking away with his own parents.
"There's Henry!" He pulls Meiko towards the other boy.
Takato folds his arms. "That's his mom. She looks plain. OW!" The comment earned him a smack on the back of the head.
"That was very rude Takato!" Bianca scolded him.
/
At the same time...
"Thanks for the help during school and during the lock down." Cole was thanking Henry.
"You're welcome."
"This is my mom, Meiko."
"Hello Henry."
"Hi ma'am."
"If school's in session tomorrow, I'd like for us to be partners in chemistry." Cole said. "I'd rather have you than Rika. If you don't have a partner for class."
Henry shook his head.
"That'd be fun." He smiled.
Cole smiled, finally gaining a friend. "Great! Well it's been nice talking to you, but my grandparents are in town."
Henry nods.
"Have fun." He watches as Cole and Meiko walk away from the school.
That evening...
Henry was in his room laying on his bed.
He was having a dream about a Digimon donned in samurai armor.
'What are you?' He questioned himself in his head as he had never experienced this kind of dream before.
Henry then forced himself to sleep as he had school in the morning.
The next morning...
Henry and Cole were walking to school.
"Hey." Henry said. "I had a dream last night."
"About what?" Cole asked.
"There was a Digimon wearing samurai armor." He explained.
"A samurai Digimon?" Cole asks.
"That sounds cool!" He smiles.
"What'd he or she say?" He asks, before his smile fades. "Do you remember?"
"I didn't hear anything." Henry confessed.
Then suddenly Leviamon appeared and smacked Henry with both of his tails.
"Hey!" Cole yells. "Not cool!"
"So you're Henry Wong. I've been searching for you with the intention of becoming your Digimon partner."
"Is he okay?" Takato asked as he and the others rush over.
"I think so." Cole knelt down next to his knocked out friend and reached for Henry's neck.
"What are you doing?" Takato asked.
"Checking for a pulse goggle head!" Cole snaps, glaring at him.
"I'm not a goggle head...goggle head!" Takato shot back, glaring at his half brother.
"Will you two stop it!" Rika scolds them.
"Why do boys have to be...so." She trails off, shaking her head. "You're brothers!"
"Half!" Cole and Takato yell in unison.
Henry then pushed himself up. "By knocking me out?"
"Yeah, that's not very friendly at all!" Cole added.
"There are better ways to do that." Takato pointed out.
"Yeah." Rika agreed.
"Asking would have been a better option." Cole remarked. "Henry, are you okay?"
"I am." Henry nodded.
"Good." Takato nods. "We should head into the school before we all get detention."
Cole looks at him. "Afraid to tell dad you got a detention?"
Takato glared at him. "Are you afraid to tell dad?"
"I'm older! So I know better. Besides everyone knows it's the younger ones who get into trouble more." Cole points at Takato. "Have fun in detention Second Best!" With that he runs towards the school building.
"Cole, wait up!" Henry calls as he and Rika chase after him.
"Second Best?" Takato grumbled, folding his arms. "What's that supposed to mean?"
He then chased after the other three just as the warning bell rang.
"There's the warning bell!" Cole exclaimed. "Gotta go!" He took off down the hall, disappearing in the sea of other kids.
Takato, Henry and Rika went down the other side of the hall to their own class.
After school...
Tai visited Kari in her classroom. T.K was there as well.
"Hey sis, you wanted me to come over?" Tai asks, poking his head into the classroom.
"I did." Kari turns to him. "You need to do something about Cole and Takato."
Tai frowns. "What's going on? Are they disturbing the school?"
"You can say that." His sister nods. "Both of them are currently in detention."
Tai pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why?"
"They started a food fight during lunch. And they're blaming each other on who started it." Kari answered.
Tai sighed heavily, looking up at the ceiling.
"This is my fault." He sits down in a chair in front of a desk.
Gatomon leaps onto Kari's desk. "Your fault? You weren't there."
"I'm not being a good father to either boy. I feel like a deadbeat dad to Cole, so he probably believes I'm favoring his half-siblings." Tai answered as he slumped in the chair.
"You need to talk to both boys." Kari told her brother.
"Okay." Tai nods. "Is detention over? I'll take both of them home."
"There's three minutes left. They're in the cafeteria. The principal is personally watching them."
"Nice way to start a three day weekend." Tai grumbled as he stood up. "Thanks sis."
Tai then left the classroom and made his way towards the cafeteria.
"Who would've thought that food would be hard to clean off walls?" Takato grumbled as he and Cole placed the mops back in the janitor's closet and closed the door.
"Yeah, the weekend's shot." Cole agreed.
"Thanks to you."
"Excuse me?!" Cole demanded, turning to glare at him. "You started it!"
"Mr. Kamiya."
The principal's voice made the boys jump and they turned to see the principal holding hands with Tai.
"I'm sorry if the boys disturbed anything." Tai apologized.
"No one's hurt, just a food fight." The principal gestured to both Cole and Takato. "They're all yours now."
"Thank you." Tai nods.
He then moves towards both his sons.
"He started it!" Both boys exclaim, pointing at each other.
"I don't care who started it!" Tai yelled, getting frustrated. "I'm gonna finish it."
He grabs Cole, then Takato. "Takato, you're grounded for the whole weekend. Cole, I'm sure your mother will agree on grounding you."
"Yes dad." The boys said in unison as Tai dragged them both down the hall.
"I'm taking you both home, so you're both in the back seat."
"Yes dad." The boys said in unison.
All three then got into the car.
Leviamon was watching them drive away from the school and he followed the car.
'Intriguing.' The Digimon thought to himself.
It was quiet inside the car as Tai drove. Both Takato and Cole looked out their respective window. Cole quickly recognized he was being taken home first. Finally Tai's car pulled into the parking lot of the apartment and Tai parked his car next to Meiko's.
"Everyone out." Tai ordered, his voice leaving no room for an argument.
Meiko opened the front door of her apartment and is surprised to see Cole, Tai and Takato.
"Um, thanks for the ride home dad!" Cole tried to be cheerful as he started to move into the apartment, but Tai reaches out to grab the back of Cole's shirt.
"Not so fast."
"What's going on?" Meiko asked with a frown.
"Does anyone have an apology?" Tai demanded, looking from one son to the other son. But the boys stayed silent as they looked away and wouldn't look at their father or each other.
"Well?" He pressed further.
The boys stayed silent.
"Cole Harris!" Meiko said firmly. "Talk!"
Cole took a deep breath. "Takato started it by knocking over all my books in class, then somebody might've started a food fight. Aunt Kari got hurt when she slipped on spilled milk."
"This true Takato?" Tai demanded, looking at him.
"Yes." Takato confessed with a nod, afraid to look up at Tai.
Tai closed his eyes, shaking his head, getting frustrated. "Takato, Cole, you two have got to find common ground! I'm getting sick of you putting my sister between your arguing and now it's disrupting the school!" He said firmly.
"We have rough Digimon roaming the city. How am I supposed to focus on my job and making people feel safe when two of my own boys are wanting to knock each other out?" He demanded.
Cole looked down, tears in his eyes.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, feeling guilty.
Takato nods. "Me too dad. I'm also sorry."
Meiko pressed her lips together.
"What kind of punishment did you give him?" She asks Tai, pointing at Takato.
"Grounded for the whole weekend." Tai answered, looking at Takato. "And instead of his mother doing all the chores, he'll be doing them."
Meiko nods. "Then Cole will have the same punishment." She looks at Cole, then at Tai.
"Thank you for bringing him home, Tai."
"You're welcome." Tai nods, still holding Takato's arm as they turn and walk back to the car.
"I-I'm sorry, mom." Cole apologized.
"Homework, now."
Cole began his homework without a fuss.
Red Veemon looked up at Meiko. "Am I in trouble too?"
"No."
On the way back...
Tai had called Matt while in the car.
"Should we lock the boys inside the Digital World?" Matt joked.
"Ow." He rubbed the back of his head after Sora smacked him upside the head. "Seriously though. We were constantly at each other's throats."
"But we're not related." Tai replied, slowing his car to a stop at a traffic light.
"I don't know man." Matt sighed as he leaned back on the couch, watching Biyomon and Gabumon play a board game. "They're your boys."
"Maybe I'll just chain the boys together." Tai sighed.
"Thanks Matt." He hung up.
Matt stared at his cellphone.
"Super glad I'm not in his position." He closed his phone.
"Tai put himself in that position." Sora remarked, getting up from the couch.
"Now come on." She grabs his hand and pulls him towards the kitchen. "It's a mess in the kitchen."
Matt didn't say a word and just went with his wife.
Meiko sat on the balcony of the apartment.
"It was wrong to come back." She said to herself. "It's time to go back to Tottori."
Meiko then prepared to return to her hometown.
"Does this mean I have to hide under blankets?" RedVeemon asks. "I don't want to hide."
"Why do we have to return?" Cole asked. The two are sitting on the couch, sitting next to each other as they both look at Meiko.
"You don't have to hide Veemon, my dad is a Digimon researcher. And you, Cole. I can't have the school coming after me because you and your half-brother are disrupting the school due to the fact you two can't get along. That social worker is still out there, ready to take you away. I thought you would be safer here because your father and the other Digidestined are here. But you can't get along. I've made up my mind."
Cole wasn't happy about this decision, but he couldn't argue with his mother.
The next day...
Tai and Matt were visiting Meiko.
"You don't have to leave because the boys are being-" Tai trailed off, thinking.
"Goggle heads?" Matt suggested with a smirk.
"TAI KAMIYA!" Mimi stalks up to him, making him back up with his hands in surrender. "I have so much to say to you!" She reaches for his ear making him yelp as she pulls him outside.
"Ow!" He yelled out in pain.
"So glad I'm not Tai right now." Matt said simply, making Izzy rapidly nod.
"Yeah." He turns to Meiko. "You don't have to move away, you just moved here. And I think there should be no problem in having Cole go to the middle school in the next town over."
"That won't work Izzy." Matt said with a frown. "You need to live in the school district."
"I don't know what else to do." Meiko said, feeling defeated.
"WHAT?!" Tai's voice yelled out, making all three turn to see a very angry Tai walking back in and Mimi looking guilty.
"I'm sorry Meiko, I accidentally told him."
Meiko took a step backwards and hid behind Matt.
"I wanted to wait until I had more time Tai." She said as she looked at Tai while continuing to use Matt as a shield.
"You said no more secrets!" Tai yelled.
"When were you going to bring it up, when Cole's in high school?" He sarcastically asked.
"Tai, calm down." Matt said.
"What's going on?" Izzy questioned, looking at Mimi who shook her head.
"I'm not saying another word."
"It's okay Mimi." Meiko told her, still hiding behind Matt. "Kari knows about the situation, and so does Ken."
"WHAT?!" Tai screamed. "You told my sister?! And neither of you told me?!"
"Tai, calm your butt down!" Matt ordered.
"Yes, let's talk this all out calmly." Izzy agreed. "Now Meiko. Please tell us what's being happening?"
