Club 23 - Chapter XIX - The Resolutions
After Pocahontas says that, John doesn't exactly know where to begin, he wants to talk to her yes, and finally he gets this moment to do so, where no one will be watching, but is there frozen, standing still. After a brief moment of silence, Pocahontas wants to walk away since he is not saying anything, she says
"Alright then", and she starts to go on her way. John who is still frozen, notices this and without hesitation blurts out
"I still love you", now it was Pocahontas's turn to be frozen, John had some courage to turn around and face her while she had her back turned away from him still. She holds her breath and turns around to face him
"Did you just say…?"
"I think I just did…"
They both stood in silence again for a while, just deadset in looking the eyes of each other, the silence was broken by John this time who started to speak
"So…how's life been treating you?", he says with her slightly smiling
"It's been okay…I guess, um…how are you?"
"I've been fine, thanks"
Pocahontas's facial expression switches to seriousness when she starts to ask him about the festival
"So…why did you really come to the festival?"
"Simply put…I was just trying to see you again and I know that it was your favorite spot when we were dating…or talking…or…"
"Dating, I considered us dating", said Pocahontas cutting him off
"Anyways, that was pretty much why I attended, simply because I knew that you were passionate about nature, which made me passionate for it to because I was passionate for you", he continued
Pocahontas takes in what he just said and has something to say about that
"Do you remember the day that we first met?"
"Well of course, it was freshman year, and I was working with Ratcliffe for his construction business and they were going to tear down the neighborhood that you and your family lived in. I was on board with the plan, until I met you…you were special, and still are, that day I wanted to be with you forever"
Pocahontas briefly looked down and then up at John and inched closer to him, she then talks
"I'm so glad you left that jerk", she smiled
John smiled back, "Yeah, I'm glad too," he then opened up more, "I'm glad that we're actually making decent conversation, sorry if that sounded harsh
"Um…no it didn't," she says, "I'm actually glad we are making conversation as well," she continued and continued further with, "So…is this all you wanna talk about because I have to hurry to get to class"
"Right, so sorry, I'll wrap this up", he said kinda frantically, taking a deep breath, "I just was hoping that you and I can be together again…as friends"
Pocahontas stares at him blankly, "Right…as friends, you know what I will love that"
"Great…do you still have my number?"
"Um…I'm not sure, I think so, let me check"
"There's no need, I'll just text you since I still have your number saved"
"OK cool"
"Umm…nice talking to you" John awkwardly smiled
Pocahontas stared at him until she eventually smiled back
"Nice talking to you as well", she then goes for a hug, while at the same time, he tries to go for one, they eventually hug each other, giving each other the awkward stare then laughing it off and going their own separate ways
"See ya", he says
"See ya", she responds
Both of their expressions as they walk the opposite directions are ones of optimism in hopes of rebuilding a stronger bond with each other. Megara on the other hand is walking the hallways, reading a book, not paying attention to the path that lies ahead for her class. All of a sudden she bumps into somebody and loses her balance a little
"Oh sorry about that, it's just this book that is really interest…." she looks up to see that it is Hercules and quickly apologizes
"Herc, what a surprise, I'm sorry I didn't see you there"
"No worries, based on the cover, looks like an interesting book", he responded, "But, then again, don't judge a book based on its cover"
"No, your assumption is right, it's a pretty good book, I shouldn't be enjoying it that much, especially in the hallways where everything is pretty chaotic huh"
They both share a laugh, Hercules continues
"Um…while you're here, you got an email right from the Spring Formal committee, right?"
"I think so…but yet again, I really don't check school emails"
"Well it's pretty important, it's about the location and time"
"Oh really, I'll check my email as soon as can"
"Or I can tell you now since I'm on the committee", Megara had a blank expression, while Hercules gave a little chuckle
"Right…forgot about that"
"It's fine, anyway, the location of the Formal is the Coronado Springs and the time is from 8pm-12am
"Coronado Springs, interesting location and I'm surprised that it is starting and ending an hour later"
"Well, yeah, the committee wanted to do something experimental, so hopefully it works out"
"Well, as Tiana is your leader, I'm sure she is going to do everything she can to make it a success," she said as she smiled at him, he smiled back
"Yeah, she's really great at what she does, so…"
"So…" she quickly interjects
"Are you going?"
Megara freezes a little to gather her thoughts
"Umm…I'm not sure yet"
"Is it because you don't have a date"
Now Megara is really frozen for real, she doesn't know what to say after that, does she need a date, does she even want a date in the first place? On the inside, she is panicking, but on the outside, she tries to stay composed and gives a response
"I don't know if that's the reason, Hercules, you know some of the guys in my group got some dates"
"Really, that's great for them", he responds happily
Megara smiles, "Yeah, although three out of four of them act like children sometimes, they are good guys, and their ladies are really pretty, I wish them the best of luck"
"That's good, well anyway I'm going to head to class now, need good grades so I can stay on the committee"
"Well, I don't want to get in your way, nice talk" he smiles at her
"Ditto", she smiles back and then walks their separate ways. While they're walking to their respective classes, Megara looks back at him and starts to blush, she sighs and says to herself
"Later…wonderboy"
Classes continued as normal throughout the day with people asking out other people when they approached in the hallway. Well, it was time for lunch and the group had a lot to talk about, with some very special people, so they went to a larger table. Quasimodo was sitting next to Madellaine, Flynn was sitting next to Rapunzel, Aladdin was sitting next to Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Megara were sitting next to each other, and Esmeralda was not sitting next to anybody, mainly because Phoebus wasn't there as he was still at his locker. Meanwhile, at his locker, Phoebus starts to talk to himself
"Alright, just gotta make sure I have everything prepared, I really hope she likes this"
He takes a deep breath
"I just hope that whatever the outcome, we still are going to be friends"
He makes his way to the table they are normally at and notices that they are not there
"Hmm…strange" he states and he continues to look for his friends, he searches and searches until he notices Flynn
"Aha, there's Flynnie", he says laughing at himself for saying that nickname Flynn doesn't like. However, he just stands there as he notices Naveen coming out of nowhere taking the empty seat next to Esmeralda. At first, he is hesitant to walk over, but he swallows his nervous energy, takes another deep breath, and says
"Well, here it goes"
Well...the time has come, what will happen come next chapter...find out next week. Plus, what will happen with those interactions that Pocahontas and Megara had with John and Hercules respectfully?
