At 5AM, Rachel woke up to her alarm screeching at her. She turned it off, rubbing her eyes as she took in her surroundings.
As she slowly began to wake up, the pain in her abdomen and back made itself known. She groaned, frustrated that it was still there and that it was worse than it had been yesterday.
Usually, Rachel sprung out of bed almost as soon as her alarm went off. Today, she couldn't bring herself to. She was overwhelmingly tired. Her body ached all over and longed to just stay in bed for a bit longer until it went away.
Since it wasn't going away, however, she decided to drag herself out of bed, pulling herself up into a sitting position. She winced at the pain the action caused, groaning when a wave of dizziness and nausea washed over.
She stood up carefully, making her way over to the bathroom. Before she could stop it, she vomited into the toilet again.
Eddie dashed into the bathroom, holding her hair back as she dry heaved. She groaned, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. Eddie rubbed her back with his free hand as she whimpered. She really didn't feel well.
"It's got worse" she whispered, massaging the bottom of her stomach
Eddie sighed painfully.
"I think we need to stay at home today. I'll call Kim and ask her to arrange cover for both of us" he decided
"No, no, I'm ok" she reassured, unconvincingly
"No you're not, Rachel! You're ill and you need someone with you just in case. I'm not leaving you on your own!" Eddie argued
"Eddie, I'm fine, I'll be fine" she promised
"If you want to do something useful, help me up" she requested
Eddie sighed, helping her to her feet, wrapping his arm tightly around her waist to steady her. She groaned as more pain shot through her stomach.
"I'm calling the doctors as soon as they open, ok?"
"Fine, but I'm coming into work" she mumbled
Eddie shook his head in despair.
"Alright, but I'll be keeping an eye on you all day" he sighed
He guided her into the bedroom, helping her to get dressed. He then lay her back down on the bed. She frowned at him.
"You are resting until we have to leave" he explained
She was too tired to argue with him, resting against the pillows and closing her eyes.
