Summary

Shuuji is a 10th grader joining a camp as an assistant. He is gentle and peaceful, creating an aura of trust in those around him. Takuma and the others respected Shuuji's leadership, but the parallel world tests his beliefs and reveals his hidden weaknesses. Shuuji comes to blame the others for his situation as he is rendered powerless to help.

Reason for Joining

Wanting more real-world experience before applying to college—and to get serious about studying—Shuuji decided to apply to the camp. He was hoping to earn some brownie points towards a recommendation letter on the sly. If this camp could help him achieve that, his dad would see him in a better light... Sounds like a complicated relationship.

Prologue

Wait, you want me to be a student leader for a school camping trip?

My old junior high homeroom teacher called me to ask for my help.

They were short on teachers to lead all the student groups, so they wanted me since I was the top of my graduating class.

My grades have always been excellent, but does that mean I can lead a group of campers?

Then my teacher said it would be a good opportunity to grow my leadership skills.

Hmm, a chance to prove, once and for all...

That I'm a strong, capable person.

My mind flashed to images of my father... or maybe my brother... I couldn't quite tell.

You've convinced me!

I'll gladly take on this task to leader my juniors!

My teacher was very thankful, and I could feel my chest fill with a certain feeling.

I suppose I would have to call it pride.

Although, if my father had heard that, he would have been disappointed.

And if my brother heard it, he would have laughed in my face.

But really, I should have been more careful when considering this job.

Alright! I'll lead my group to success as a proud member of the Kayama family!

What I didn't understand then was that camping could be truly dangerous...

Our leader Shuuji wandered into this other world. I thought I could rely on him at first, but he's just as worried as the rest of us. Still, I wish he'd stop treating his partner so badly...

The sight of Lopmon wrapped in that ominous black smoke was burnt into our minds, and we just can't shake it. Shuuji... You've really pushed him to his limits, haven't you?

Shuuji couldn't acknowledge himself. Even so, he took a step forward, wanting to be someone Lopmon could be proud of. That powerful feeling, combined with his sense of responsibility, evolved Lopmon into Antylamon. He told Shuuji to quit that "someone like me" talk. Even if Shuuji won't acknowledge himself, Antylamon has nothing but pride and affection for him.

All of the experiences in this world taught Shuuji to believe in his own righteousness. It seems that Cherubimon, Lopmon's new form, reflects his true strength.

I'm heading into the final battle with Shuuji at my side. I thought he'd be the most nervous of all of us, but I can't see a hint of it in his dogged appearance. I wonder if I can be as confident as him...

Lopmon

Summary

Lopmon is a beast Digimon with three horns. Everything about Lopmon is veiled in mystery. Shuuji regards Lopmon's innocent and childish character as lazy and annoying, pushing the two apart.

Thinking

The Kemonogami that accompanies Shuuji in the other world. Shuuji can't seem to stand his introverted and timid personality. Lopmon looks pitiful when scolded, almost like he's being bullied. I think Shuuji should be nicer, but for some reason Lopmon doesn't leave his side. I wonder why he doesn't run away...
