Lumiose Badlands
At the Coumarine City Pokemon Center, Kevin, Rolf, Jonny, and Nazz were in the cafeteria, celebrating winning their fourth badges while Nazz's Pokemon were being treated.
"Four more; just four more badges and we can compete in the Kalos League." said Kevin.
"I can't wait! Let's see where the next gym is!" said Jonny. Kevin takes out the map and lays it on the table they were sitting at. Kevin looks at the map and his eyes widen.
"Hey. Turns out there was a gym in Lumiose City." said Kevin.
"You mean there was a gym there?" asked Nazz.
"Yeah; if we knew there was, we would probably have five badges by now." said Jonny.
"This map says if we travel south from here, we can travel through Route 13 and reach Lumiose City." said Kevin.
"Let's go there tomorrow; I'm beat." said Jonny.
"Yes; Rolf wishes to be rested for his upcoming gym battle." said Rolf.
"Okay; I like to catch some Zs myself." said Kevin. After they finished eating, the group exited the cafeteria and Kevin and Rolf went to the mens shower room to shower while Jonny went to their room and put Plank into a bed, and soon joined Kevin and Rolf, while Nazz went to the womens. After they finished, they brushed their teeth; soon after, they went to their room and climbed into their beds; several minutes later, they were all asleep.
The next morning, after everyone ate breakfast; Nazz got her Pokemon back. The group took the time to each buy five pokeballs; after that, they exit the Pokemon Center. They walked south of Courmarine City and reached the gate. Nazz sees Sina and a boy with sandy blonde hair, wearing a white jacket, white pants, and light brown shoes standing near the gate.
"Hey, Sina." said Nazz, getting Sina's attention.
"Hey, I remember you; we met at Lumiose City. Nazz, correct?" said Sina.
"Yeah." replied Nazz.
"This is Dexio; he's another of Professor Sycamore's assistants." said Sina, motioning to the boy she was with.
"Greeting, Nazz." said the boy, now identified as Dexio.
"Who are these people?" asked Jonny.
"These two are assistants of Professor Sycamore." said Nazz. "I met Sina on the day I arrived here in Kalos."
"So how are things for you here in Kalos?" asked Sina.
"Great. Me and my friends won our fourth badges." said Nazz. "We're on our way to Lumiose City to win our next badges."
"You may have to wait awhile to take on the Lumiose City Gym." said Dexio.
"What, why?!" asked Kevin.
"There's a power outage in the Kalos Power Plant that's keeping the gate between Lumiose City and Route 13 from opening." replied Dexio.
"Aw, man." moaned Kevin.
"Professor Sycamore sent us to investigate the plant." said Sina.
"You need some help?" asked Nazz. "If this power outage is keeping us from our next gym battles, then we want to help."
"We could use all the help we can get." said Sina.
"Anything that will get us to Lumiose City." said Kevin. The group, Sina, and Dexio walk through the gate and entered Route 13, which, to the group's surprise, was a dry and barren wasteland.
"This place is kind of depressing." said Nazz. 'Charlotte would love this place.'
"Well, Route 13 is known as the Lumiose Badlands." said Dexio.
"Come on; let's find out what's wrong at the plant." said Jonny.
"Yes; Rolf wishes to battle the Lumiose City Gym as soon as possible." said Rolf. As the group walked, Kevin sees a dust cloud coming towards him. He covers himself with his arms as the dust cloud got close to him when it suddenly stopped. Kevin looks as the dust cleared, revealing an orange, insect-like Pokemon looking up at him. Kevin takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Trapinch, the Ant Pit Pokemon. It makes an inescapable conical pit and lies in wait at the bottom for prey to come tumbling down." said the pokedex.
"Well, as long as it's here, I might as well capture it." said Kevin. He takes out a pokeball. "Frogadier, go!" He throws Frogadier's pokeball and releases him. "Water Pulse, Frogadier!" Frogadier forms a blue ball of water in his hands and launches it at Trapinch, dealing super effective damage to it. Trapnich's eyes glow blue, and a cyclone of sand comes up from below Frogadier and envelops him, hurting him. "Oh yeah?! Frogadier, Surf!" Frogadier raises his arms, and a wave of water appears from behind him and crashes onto Trapinch, dealing super effective damage. Kevin takes an empty pokeball and throws it at Trapinch, hitting it and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicks. "Awesome; I caught a Trapich!"
"Way to go, Kevin." said Jonny. Trapinch's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Kevin looks up Trapinch's information on the pokedex.
"Okay; this says Trapinch is a girl, she knows Fissure, Superpower, Feint, Bite, Sand Attack, Feint Attack, Sand Tomb, Mud-Slap, Bide, Bulldoze, and Rock Slide." said Kevin. "She has the Arena Trap ability which prevents Pokemon from running away or being switched out during battle; but it doesn't work on flying types or Pokemon with the Levitate ability." He returns Frogadier to his pokeball and the group continued travelling.
Several minutes later, the Kalos Power Plant comes into view.
"There it is." said Sina.
"Hey; that guy over there looks like he's from Team Flare." said Jonny. The other look and saw there was indeed a member of Team Flare standing on a small bridge that led to the power plant.
"You think Team Flare is behind the power outage?" asked Nazz.
"Probably." replied Kevin. Rolf marches towards the Team Flare member.
"You! What business does Team Flare have in this plant?" asked Rolf.
"What business is it of yours, kid?" asked the Team Flare member.
"Team Flare's tomfoolery at the plant is keeping Rolf from his gym battle in Lumiose City." replied Rolf.
"If you want to get to Lumiose City, then take some other route." said the Team Flare member.
"Rolf wishes to take the route we're on." said Rolf. He walks over to the Team Flare member. "Move."
"Why don't you make me?" asked the Team Flare member.
"Are you challenging Rolf to a Pokemon battle?" asked Rolf.
"Maybe I am." replied the Team Flare member, pulling a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Rolf will make you regret making that challenge!" said Rolf, pulling a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Houndoom, go!" said the Team Flare member, throwing the pokeball and releasing a black, doglike Pokemon with curved horns.
"Hey, a Houndoom; just like that Devon guy used against Eddy at the Lily of the Valley Conference." said Jonny. Kevin points the pokedex at the Houndoom.
"Houndoom, the Dark Pokemon, and the evolved form of Houndour. The flames it breathes when angry contain toxins. If they cause a burn, it will hurt forever." said the pokedex.
Rolf then takes out his Diggersby's pokeball and lets him out of it.
"Diggersby, use Double Kick!" said Rolf. Diggersby jumps at the Houndoom and lands two solid kicks to it, doing super effective damage.
"Houndoom, use Fire Fang!" said the Team Flare member. Houndoom's fangs become coated in fire as it runs at Diggersby and bites down on him.
"Diggersby, use Mud Shot!" said Rolf. Diggersby launches globs of mud at Houndoom, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"NOOO!" shouts the Team Flare member.
"Way to go, Rolf!" said Jonny. The Team Flare member growls as he returns his Houndoom to its pokeball. He then puts it away and pulls out another one. He then throws it, release a Golbat.
"Golbat, use Air Cutter!" said the Team Flare member. The Golbat flaps its wings, releasing blades of wind at Diggersby, damaging him.
"Diggersby, use Take Down!" said Rolf. Diggersby charges at the Golbat and slams into it. Diggersby flinches at the recoil damage it just took.
"Golbat, use Bite!" said the Team Flare member. The Golbat flies at Diggersby and bites down on him.
"Diggersby, use Flail!" said Rolf. Diggersby starts flailing around and whacks Golbat in its face, sending it crashing to the ground, unconscious.
"You did it, Rolf!" said Nazz.
"Darn! I'm out of Pokemon!" said the Team Flare member.
"That means Rolf is the winner!" said Rolf. The Team Flare member growls as he tosses pokedollars at Rolf.
"Enjoy the victory; but you won't be getting into the Power Plant without the keycard!" said the Team Flare member, patting his pocket. A confused look appeared on his face and reaches into his pocket, looking for something, but couldn't. "Where my pass?! I need it to get into the plant!" He begins looking around the ground for something. As the group watched, Nazz looks around and sees a keycard near a rock.
"Guys; look." Nazz whispered, pointing at the keycard. Kevin walks to it and picks it up.
"You think this is what that Team Flare dork is looking for?" asked Kevin.
"Probably." said Dexio.
"Come on; let's get to the plant while this guy's distracted." said Sina. The group sneaked past the Team Flare member and reached what appeared to be a small shack. "I think this leads to an underground tunnel that goes to the plant." Kevin slides the keycard through a card reader, unlocking the door.
"Hey, stop!" said the Team Flare member. The group turned to see the Team Flare member running towards them. Kevin quickly opens the door and the group enter the shack and shuts the door behind the Team Flare member. He pounds on the door, but it was in vain. "Oh well; I still look stylish."
