The only notable change you need to know before entering the world of Jakob Quade is that the starting age for beginning Hogwarts is 13, not 11, in this AU story.
The rest of this author's note is primarily intended for those who have been reading my original work, "Latent Darkness." If you are a new reader, you can skip this part and proceed directly to the story. However, if you're interested in hearing my thoughts and rants, feel free to continue.
I apologize for the delay in finishing Book One. There were some decisions I needed to make in rewriting the book, and then life got in the way, causing a pause in my writing. I'm thrilled to let you know that I've regained my motivation and have completed Book One.
While there have been various changes, the core essence remains intact. Relationships between characters will mostly stay the same, but a lot of events have been modified, added and deleted. This is also the reason why I'm not simply replacing the old chapters in the original story but instead starting a new one.
When I wrote the original story, I crafted one chapter each day. This daily writing habit often led to improvisations in both minor and significant decisions, some of which left me less satisfied with and hoping to one day be able to change.
At this point, I won't be accepting suggestions or changes for Book One as it's already finished. However, for Book Two, I plan to involve you, the reader, more in the decision-making process.
In a previous author's note, I mentioned the possibility of releasing the entire story. After much consideration and discussion with my special someone, I've decided to release three chapters instantly and follow up with one chapter daily.
This approach will enable me to maintain a consistent release schedule and give me some time to work on book two, so you can expect some of those chapters when book one is completed.
Book one now has 20 chapters compared to the original, which had only 9.
I've made some noteworthy changes:
1. The starting age to enter Hogwarts has been adjusted from 11 to 13. This means that I have made everyone in the story three years older. This change was implemented due to the mature themes in the series, making it a more suitable fit for the story and allowing us to start a bit earlier. ;)
2. The story will feature a more intense and graphic tone right from the beginning. While there will still be moments of humour and heartwarming scenes. But there will be gore. When shit goes down, people will scream in agony until they choke on their own blood.
3. Feedback from the original comments has been taken to heart. I've made some changes based on constructive criticism that I found valid.
The last point I'd like to address is that if you enjoy this story and consider continuing to read the original after going through these first few chapters, I highly recommend against it. The first book is not well-written, and the information varies significantly.
