"They both OK?" Jack asked as Rose walked in to the living room. She nodded "both spark out, hopefully it stays that way" she chuckled, making him laugh "how come Tilly was awake?" She asked "she had a nightmare but I think Sophia crying woke her up as well" "oh the joys of two young kids" Rose laughed, joking, getting a laugh from Jack in response.

They just looked at each other for a moment, Rose smiling gently at him. He lent forward and began to kiss her, it beginning to turn passionate within seconds. They headed upstairs, but as they reached Jack's room, Rose remembered it was too soon after the birth of Sophia to sleep with Jack- much to her disappointment, but he understood completely.

She sighed as the kiss came to an end, knowing it couldn't go anywhere else. "I missed that" she smirked as she moved to rest her head on his chest, causing him to laugh. They lay there in silence for a minute as he stroked her hair. "What does this mean for us?" Rose asked nervously, not daring to look up. "I want us to be together Rose… I know we can be the real deal. I know I love you… I know I've only known them a few days, but I love the girls… I'll always protect the 3 of you… I think we could be a family, Rose…" he said hopefully. "I know we could…" Rose said confidently before looking up at him "so?" He asked almost as a question "so I think we should give it a go…" she said, kissing him gently "but we have to be honest Jack… not with everyone, but just with your close friends and Lucy… about the Titanic and how we already knew one another, or people will think we're mad and jumping in to something" she locked eye contact with him. He nodded "Luke, Lucy and Mary know about the Titanic… and Luke already knows about you… we can tell Lucy at the weekend?" He said "yes" Rose nodded "what do we tell Tilly?" He asked "oh- erm-" Rose thought for a minute "I don't know… I know she trusts you, and I know she likes you… but I don't want to freak her out. Are you OK if we just wait for her to notice or ask? So it's not such a formal conversation?" She asked, feeling guilty "of course… whatever you think is best" he nodded and smiled gently "and remember, if you ever need a break, I don't mind looking after them. I want them to know and trust me" he said "Tilly already trusts you… but of course, I'm happy for you to spend time with them whenever you want" she smiled and stroked his cheek.

The following day

12th April, 1920

Rose woke up at 2am, hearing Sophia's cries from her bedroom. Honestly, she was relieved, if by some chance Tilly woke up, she didn't want her to worry about where Rose was. She climbed out of bed as quietly and quickly as she could to avoid waking Jack and Sophia waking Tilly. She went in to her room as picked Sophia up "shhh… I'm here" she kissed her head and climbed in to bed with her beginning to feed her "good girl" she said as she stroked her cheek.

After Sophia had finished feeding, she lay peacefully, her big blue eyes looking at Rose. Rose just say holding her close, enjoying spending some one-on-one time with her "I'm sorry this is all a bit strange… I wish your first few days hadn't been so chaotic, I just did what I thought was best" she whispered to her. Sophia just stared up at her, gripping her finger as Rose spoke to her before she began to drift off. Once she was asleep, Rose gently placed her in to the crib and laid down herself, falling asleep almost instantly.

After Sophia woke up around 6 for another feed, both her and Rose fell asleep again.

Rose was woken up at 9.20 by Tilly who had come in to her bedroom. She shook Rose gently "Mummy… Mummy I'm hungry" she said. Rose yawned and stretched before sitting up and glancing at the clock "morning baby… let's go and get you some breakfast" she yawned again and climbed out of bed, taking Tilly's hand as they walked downstairs, leaving Sophia asleep in her crib.

"What do you want for breakfast?" She asked Tilly as she sat her at the breakfast bar "can I have eggs please?" "Of course you can" Rose replied with a smile and grabbed some eggs. Putting them in the frying pan she noticed a note on the worktop:

Rose,

I didn't want to wake you but I had to head off early. I hope you and the girls have a nice day. See you all this evening.

- Jack x

(P.S last night was fun…)

Rose smirked at the note and put it on the kitchen shelf, not wanting Tilly to see it. She was only 5 but had impeccable reading and writing skills.

Jack arrived home around 4.30. The 3 of them had dinner and spent some time together in the living room before Rose did the bedtime routine with Tilly and Sophia.

The next chapter is Cal finding out Rose has left so stay tuned :) x
