President Dick Richardson, was welcomed into the Whitehouse by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Guard. As he made his way to the Oval Office he saw the former NUSA General of the Army was waiting for him.
"Welcome home, Mr. President. I am General Jax Bradly, as you can see we have already prepared everything you need to address the nation." General Bradly says.
"Thank you General." President Richardson says before sitting down.
"You ready? Ok. 3, 2, 1." General Bradly says signaling to the camera crew to start after President Richardson gave the thumbs up.
"My fellow Americans, this is your President, Dick Richardson. Now that the Second American Civil War is over, it is time for healing. All surviving NUSA military and the armed branch of Millitech will receive full pardons if they enlist in the US military prior rank restored. However, anyone who worked for Militech proper as one of their enforcers, leaders or desk jockeys will be put on trial for treason. Same with any member of government that had any connection to corporations. New Elections will be held right away. Lastly we will be getting to using Garden of Eden Creation Kits to restore America's natural beauty. That is what we can do in the short term. In the long term we plan on switching everything over to nuclear as to get the country off of CHOOH2. Also to reboot the economy we plan on giving every two parent, 3 child family enough to live off of for five years and a 5 bedroom home. This will be in Gold Backed US Dollars as to both get off the Euro-Dollar and to have a stable and reliable currency that Americans can depend on. The public school students will also be rebuilt and we will have different schools teach in different ways to figure out the best way to educate our children. I promise you, once we are done, America will be safe for Children again." Then the broadcast ends.
"That was great Mr. President, just great." General Bradly says while softly clapping.
"Thank you, now I need to get ready as I am meeting with the President of Texas for lunch to discuss their reintegration and what their demands are."
"You can't be serious?"
"I am, the Free States already rejoined fully, however Texas is still holding out and I don't want anymore bloodshed and even if some of their demands end up being outrageous, giving into them will be necessary in order for the country to heal."
"That is a fair point. I have done some research and I have concluded that a lot of the causes of the country's collapse could be traced back to the First Civil War and the centralization of Government Authority under Lincoln."
"Even though the Government needs the power to act in a crisis, it should not supersede a state's ability to manage local affairs. It's a weird balancing act that must be maintained in order for the system to work. There is a reason for the 10th Amendment."
"However if two states are having a dispute the government has to get involved."
"Without a doubt, it could lead to a crisis. However the Federal Government must act as a arbitrator not an enforcer."
"I disagree as sometimes one side is objectively wrong."
"Only in the most drastic of cases should the Federal Government step in."
"I could agree with that."
