AVATAR: WAR CHILD.

PROLOGUE.

He was on his way back. He had regretted running away. He had learnt his lesson and was returning home, in hopes that his elders would forgive his rash and selfish actions.

It was the dead of night, he arose from a bad dream in which he'd wake up and find himself the last of his kind. He couldn't let that happen so, he went back. He spent two years away from the temple, reflecting and thinking of his future as the Avatar. He had accepted that his life would be different but he just didn't want to face it. He'd rather avoid the unavoidable.

But after having that terrible nightmare where he was the last airbender, he decided to face it and see if he could prevent that bad dream from becoming reality. So, in the dead of night, despite the raging storm, he took his bison and flew back. All he felt that moment was regret and shame for running away in the first place. Saying he was only twelve was an excuse to avoid his destiny. He'd always be the Avatar, regardless of his age. He just had to live with it.

What would the monks think of him once he returned? Would they welcome him? Would they rebuke him? Would they still ship him off to the Eastern Temple? Would Gyatso be happy to see him?

Interrupting his train of thoughts, the wind grew harsher and it became harder to steer his bison. He tried riding against the howling wind but got thrown into the turbulent sea instead. Barely opening his eyes, he saw death flash before his eyes and silently accepted his fate. Suddenly, he felt a warm sensation that grew hotter inside his body and his eyes began to glow. He had seen this in his dream and tried his best to fight whatever was controlling him but he tried in vain.

He immediately sat in a lotus position, freezing him and his bison in a block of ice – his dreams began to materialize. Then, everything went dark and he remained frozen both mentally and physically.

A/N: POV – If Avatar: The Last Airbender was a much more mature series than it actually is.

All characters ages are bumped up a bit and their personalities changed a little to fit their ages. We will dig deeper into the subtle mature themes that were in the original show and it will be a lot more gruesome. Aside from that, the story's pretty much same. ONLY CANON SHIPS.
