Wonder Woman Lois Lane - Prologue

DC Earth Prime

Metropolis, afternoon

Reality itself melted away as the two versions of Superman stood in front of each other. Lois Lane-Kent and her nine-year-old son Jonathan Kent watched the universe-altering event unfold with trepidation. Neither truly understood what was happening. Lois fervently hoped her husband would not be harmed or otherwise be ill-affected by whatever was taking place between him and the essence of that other Superman (according to Dr. Manhattan they were being fused in some incomprehensible fashion). Slowly her Clark and the "spirit" of the other one blended together all the while reality began to reorganize itself because of their joining. Suddenly the process became even more chaotic than it already was. Lois and Jon put their hands over their ears and closed their eyes in a vain attempt to protect their senses from the bewildering onslaught. Soon, everything went black as they lost awareness within the violent maelstrom of profound change.

Beyond Normal Reality

Mr. Mxyzptlk was pleased with his work. That fuddy-duddy Manhattan wanted a simple blend between Mr. Mxyzptlk's old enemy and the best Superman (in Mr. Mxyzptlk's learned opinion) which would never do. Mr. Mxyzptlk decided the funner option would be to mix the Lois Lane of his Superman with Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman former lover of Nuperman (as he called the other inferior Superman). Mr. Mxyzptlk adored fun and a super-powered Lois Lane-Wonder Woman promised him lots of fun. Once he was satisfied that his contribution to the creation was what he wanted he went off to do something else. He left the creation to thrive or flounder on its own. The joys of being a near-omnipotent transdimensional entity were many and diverse and he enjoyed them all.

DC Prime Earth

Kent Farm in Smallville Kansas, morning

"You're all a mess." Lois Lane-Kent exclaimed looking at a mud-soaked trio of a boy, a girl, and a dog. It was planting season so she and Clark had decided a trip to the family farm was in order. Looking at the muddy trio Lois now regretted that decision.

"Sorry momma, we fell into a mud puddle. Lara was chasing a bullfrog." Said eight-year-old Jon Kent of his twin sister.

"I was not, momma. Skip chased the frog I ran to catch him. Jon ran after me and fell in. I tried to save him but I fell in too." Lara said denying the charges. She then stuck out her tongue at Jon when Lois turned her back for a moment to examine the mess the trio had left on her once spotless kitchen floor.

"Momma, Lara is sticking her tongue out at me!" Jon dutifully reported.

"Jon, you're such a tattletale," Lara said about her twin brother.

"Am not," Jon said.

"Are too," Lara said.

"Am not," Jon said louder.

"Are too," Lara said even louder.

"Alright, that's enough from you two. Go to the bathroom and take off your dirty clothes so I can wash them before they get ruined. I'll be along in a minute to help you clean off." Lois said.

"Are you mad at us, momma?" Lara asked her lips quivering as if she was on the verge of tears. Lara was already skilled at turning on the waterworks when she wanted something or to avoid getting in trouble. If Jon was like Clark with his sense of duty and fair play Lara was like Lois as she was headstrong and knew how to size up others.

"I'm not mad at you or your brother, Lara. Now get out of those dirty clothes," Lois sighed. Jon and even Lara knew there was no sense arguing with their mother once her mind was made up. They went off to follow her instructions. "You outside," Lois said pointing at Skip aka Krypto the Super Dog who was supposed to be keeping the twins out of trouble while Clark plowed the fields and Lois fixed up the farmhouse. "I'll deal with you later." With a whine, Skip exited through the doggy door tail tucked between his legs. He left a fresh trail of mud behind him much to Lois' disdain but she could not help but smile thinking back on the events of her life.

The purple-eyed auburn-haired Lois Lane was the daughter of Hippolyta and General Stan Lane who was shipwrecked for a year on Themyscira during a secret military mission. Until Lois was fourteen she knew nothing of her father who she assumed was dead, if she had a father at all (Amazons are funny that way). Her parents decided it was best she not know the truth and grow up like any other Amazon. Once the secret of her parentage was unexpectedly revealed, however, and her mother briefly deposed, Lois sought out aid from her father in "Man's World" after learning the truth. Following a brief but intense confrontation with her aunt who sought to conquer Man's World, Hippolyta was restored to the throne but she and Lois elected to remain in Man's World with her father. Hippolyta's elder daughter born from clay Nubia became Queen of the Amazons. Lois created an alternate identity of Wonder Woman in honor of her Amazonian heritage so she could become a force for good but also so she could live a normal life as Lois Lane daughter of General Stan Lane who was reunited with his long-lost presumed dead wife from Greece. She trained to be a journalist so she could learn the various stories of the peoples of Man's World. Her ever-curious mind had always admired the Amazon lore masters. She was fascinated by their tales of distant lands, strange creatures, and adventures of the past. Eventually, Lois rose to become one of the most renowned reporters of Man's World. She met Clark Kent at the Daily Planet a few years later. She initially assumed Clark was an "idealizing fool" who was "woefully naive" about the world. She failed to realize he was Superman for several years. She greatly admired Superman who, aside from her father, was the most honorable man she had ever met. When Metallo almost killed her father in retaliation for her "humiliating him" in battle after he learned of her dual identity, Clark revealed that he was Superman to keep Lois from not only slaying Metallo but also the monster's benefactor the corrupt tycoon Lex Luthor.

Lois and Clark dated for several years. They wed shortly before Doomsday temporarily killed Clark. Although she knew it was wrong Lois still harbored a deep hatred of the creature that was bred to be nothing more than an all but indestructible living weapon (as revealed by a powerful alien to Clark after his return). Clark argued they should pity a wretched thing like Doomsday yet Lois found she could not do so. She could never forgive the creature who nearly destroyed her world and almost took away the love of her life.

The twins were conceived on Valentine's Day a year after Clark's return from the dead. Lois discovered she was pregnant shortly thereafter and the twins were born the following October. Weakened by the birthing process, Lois almost lost her children to Amanda Waller who wanted them for experimentation due to their mixed Kryptonian and Amazonian heritage. If not for the other Justice League members, especially Batman, she knew Waller would have won thanks to a distraction she concocted to keep Superman busy. Lois would forever be grateful to Batman and the others and forever leery of Amanda Waller.

Lois had never thought she would one day be a mother. Her career and heroics had always come first. From the very first moment she learned of their existence, however, Jon & Lara fundamentally changed Lois' outlook on life. Lois would not give up her "little angels" for anything. They along with Clark (and even Skip she supposed) were her entire world. She would do whatever she must to protect them and safeguard their future.

Apokolips

A desolate battlefield, night

Apokolips had been engulfed by a devastating war since the Justice League had slain Darkseid a year ago. 'Curse them,' The broken down warrior thought. Different factions now vied for power unable to vanquish each other. Out of the fog of chemical weapons leisurely strolled a single figure cloaked in a tattered hooded brown robe. The figure's hands and feet were covered by matching elbow-length tattered brown gloves and knee-high boots. The hooded figure's face was hidden by shadows.

"What an uninspiring place," The hooded figure declared in a feminine voice kicking aside a hunk of slag metal that was once the helmeted head of a soldier. The hooded figure spotted the lone survivor of the latest battle. "I hear you have information that I might find useful."

The soldier stared at The hooded figure dumbfounded. "Who are you?" He stammered.

"Me," She said feigning humility. "I am only the greatest of individuals and the future ruler of New Krypton. The last of the Sagitari." On the ring finger of her right hand, a Black Lantern ring glowed fiercely with a mixture of black and yellow energy.

"What do you want with me?" The soldier asked. His voice conveyed a tone of irritation. This woman was obviously insane (which was in no way surprising given the current circumstances). He knew nothing of the Black Lanterns so the ominous significance of her ring was lost on him.

"With you nothing," She said. "Haven't you been listening fool? I come seeking information. What do you know of a planet called Earth, and of the El Clan of Krypton?" She inquired.

"I only know that my former lord Darkseid was murdered by Superman head of the El Clan of Earth and his friends in the Justice League, curse them. May they soon fall." The soldier said his words laced with venom. For some reason, he felt compelled to answer this crazed woman honestly.

"Where can this Earth be found?" She asked.

"Its solar system is located in an outer arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Earth is the third planet from its star a yellow dwarf." The soldier replied.

"Is there anything else I should know to locate Earth?" She inquired.

"I possess no further information regarding the matter." The soldier answered honestly.

"Well, then, our interaction is at an end," She said. The hooded figure drew the soldier into a close embrace. "Receive your reward. Have the honor of being the first of many who shall feel my mercy." A ball of black energy mixed with flecks of yellow formed around her right hand lighting the soldier ablaze. Strangely, the energy-induced flames did not affect the hooded figure nor catch her flowing robes on fire. Deep within the confines of her hood, the figure's eyes glowed the same sickly colors.

"Why, do this? I helped you." The soldier moaned as his body was slowly incinerated.

"Because you're a filthy, violent alien who served a filthy, violent, misguided master. All those such as yourself who are unworthy must be granted the mercy of death, it is the only way. There is no place for your corrupt kind in my perfect universe to come. Worry not, your death will make me stronger." She said. The soldier's body joined those of his equally dead comrades on the rocky ground at the hooded figure's feet but not before his life force was drained away by the hooded figure via her Black Lantern ring.

"Next stop Earth." The hooded figure said to the howling wind. She placed her right index finger to her forehead before she vanished in a swirl of black energy intermixed with flecks of yellow.

Author's Note One -

For some time I've wanted to do a story in which Lois Lane became Wonder Woman. Recently, I re-read DC Rebirth and thought "Hey, what if our darling imp Mr. Mxyzptlk decided to get creative with his contribution to the new universal order?" Next, I decided to combine a few ideas I had for other failed Superman-related stories thus here we are. I hope you all enjoyed this intro. More will come soon.

Author's Note Two -

Bonus points to anyone who can guess the identity of our primary villain. The villain is a deep cut into Superman multimedia lore.
