Author's Note: You know, I've noticed something about Naruto Uzumaki, as well as most Shonin Anime protagonists. They act very similar to Sun Wukong, from Journey To The West. Even some of their story lines and abilities are either similar or the same. Naruto can make clones, Goku has so many of the same abilities it's almost a copyright infringement, even Luffy is really strong and can expand and extend his body parts like Wukong's pole. I just think it would be pretty cool if one of those anime characters were actually taught by The Great Sage Equal To Heaven. In this story Wukong is going to be as strong as depicted in the original mythology. No nerfs, no holding back. Literally infinite strength, FTL speed, true immortality, the ability to just WILL himself to just get stronger, the whole bit! Naruto will eventually reach that level. To compensate his villains are also going to get stronger.
CHAPTER 1: NEW SENSEI
Naruto was walking through the road just outside of Konoha. He found this road while trying to ditch his temporary sensei that Kakashi assigned for his training during the Chunin Exam Finals. "Grr, I know that Sasuke's facing a more deadly opponent than me but why can't he train me at the same time!(Sigh) He trains all three of us at the same time most of the time anyway..."
It was at this time that he noticed he had walked quite deep into the forest and even lost his path. He decided that he would wander around until he found his way out. If he got too lost he could just climb the top of a tree and get his bearings. He was walking when his mind slowly entered a fog. Entranced, he started walking a path that seemed predetermined. An unknown amount of time passed when he snapped out of his trance and looked around.
It was dark now and strangely quiet. He saw in front of him what appeared to be a shrine with someone sitting in the center, a monkey-man in golden armor with a red cloth around his neck and an iron pole in his arms. He was rubbing his chin in contemplation while looking him up and down. "Hmm, I can see why Kami chose you. You're just like me when I was your age! Hey, my name's-" Naruto abruptly stood up and pointed a finger at the strange man-like monkey. "WHO ARE YOU!? WHAT ARE YOU!?" The monkey-man just looked on calmly and giggled like a monkey.
"As I was saying, my name's Sun Wukong!" Naruto just stared with a confounded expression on his face. Wukong continued, "Anyway, Kami and I have agreed that I would be the perfect master for you! So, I will teach you everything I know." Naruto looked skeptical, "Wait, why are you training me in the first place, aren't you a god?" He raised his hand in a so-so fashion. "Sorta, more like a divine demon. As for why I'm training you, you are the Child of Prophecy."
Naruto looked confused, "Basically, Kami created you to bring peace to this world. But you have to be strong in order to do that. As no one seems to want to train you, Kami chose me to be your sensei! Cool right? The Great Sage Equal to Heaven personally training The Child of Prophecy." Naruto looked on with a blank expression at first then exploded into excitement. "Awesome! I'm gonna be immortal!" Wukong just laughed and then made a placating gesture. "I think we should just get started training right away with the basics. You only have a month before your Chunin Exams and I want you to show off what you'll be learning from me." He stands up and walks out of his temple and gestures Naruto to follow. "Come on. I want to start your marshal training."
They make their way to Wukong's favorite training spot. "Alright, first show me what you've got. Don't hold out on me, I can take whatever you dish out. Trust me." Naruto begins by making his shadow clones and they all charge in. In a blur of fists and feet they are all destroyed and Naruto is laid out on the ground panting and bruised. Wukong rubs the back of his head and says, "Yeesh. Your definitely a fixer upper. It seems you've trained yourself without much help. That's bad because if you make a mistake and no one's there to correct you, you'll learn it wrong and it will be ingrained in your muscle memory."
Naruto was panting while thinking to himself, 'This guy's insane! No one's taken down my Shadow Clones so fast before! Not even that Orochimaru guy.' "Don't worry though! We'll get you on the right track in no time! Hm only one month...that's not a lot of time to get you ready. In the mean time we'll be working on your strength, speed and durability training! First though we need to awaken your chi." Naruto stood up and looked at him curiously. "Chi? What's that?" He looked at Naruto and grinned. "That, my young pupil, is what fuels most of my abilities. It even has the added benefit of permanently increasing your physical strength and limits."
Naruto had starry eyes. "Really! Awesome!" Wukong sat down and began to meditate, Naruto followed his lead. "So basically, I'm going to teach you that the version of yourself you envision to be...is actually just a mere shadow of what you truly are. It will take time though, and a lot of hard work. Nothing worth anything comes for free. I won't let you slouch either. There's greatness in you, you're too much like me for it not to be in you." Naruto was moved by the sheer confidence in him he had. No one had said that they believed in him that much before. "Alright, look deep in yourself." Naruto closed his eyes and began to feel his chakra-*BONK*. Naruto rubbed the growing lump on his head. "OW! What was that for!?" Wukong was slightly amused. "You weren't sensing your chi, you were sensing your chakra. Very different." Naruto scratched his head in confusion.
"Well then how do I do that?" He tried to explain. "Well, when you sense your chakra, it's like sensing a power source within yourself. To draw on your chi, you must understand yourself first." Naruto looked even more confused and was starting to get frustrated. "Grr, this isn't making any sense! I don't know what that means!" Wukong sat down behind Naruto and placed his hand on his back. "The best I can do is bring you to where you need to go. The rest you must do alone. Try meditating again."
Naruto grumbled and closed his eyes in meditation. He felt something shift so he opened his eyes. He was expecting to be in the sewers of his mind, but instead he was still in the clearing. He noticed that everything was quiet and so he stood up, looking for his teacher. When he turned back around he saw...himself. Except he had a cruel smirk on his face and his eyes were black and red. "Why?" Naruto looked confused but this other him continued. "Why do you work so hard to impress them? All they've ever done is lie to you." Naruto knew what he was talking about. And it angered him to no end. "Who the hell are you!" He simply chuckled. "Isn't it obvious? I'm you."
Naruto looked angrier than before. "No you're not! I'm me!" Other Naruto simply nodded his head a negative. "You're just a mask, a front that you show to everyone. I'm the real you." Naruto gritted his teeth, "Well why are you just now showing yourself!?" Other Naruto glared. "I was forced here by that monkey. He was probably trying to get us to work something out. Foolish if you ask me." Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Why's that foolish?" Other Naruto chuckled. "Because you won't listen! You never do." Naruto growled in anger because he knew he was right. Still, he tried to deny it. "What are you talking about!? This is the first time we've met!"
Other Naruto immediately got frustrated. "This may be the first time we've seen each other face to face, but this is NOT the first time we've met! Everytime you felt anything even remotely violent or dark or hateful, did you listen to me? Did you pay attention? No, you just pushed me away! Shoved me back with that FAKE happiness!" Naruto faltered, he hadn't realized he'd been doing that. Sure, he'd always known he was there, but he didn't know that's how he'd been solving that problem. He's just been pushing him away all this time. 'Like everyone's been doing to me.'
He looked down in shame. "I'm sorry. I promise I'll start listening to you more." This surprised Other Naruto, so much so that he got angry. "Yeah, well what's sorry going to do to help!? After this how do I know you won't just go back to forgiving anyone who does anything to you after this!?" Naruto got a determined look on his face. "Because you'll always be there to make sure I don't. I can't get rid of you anymore than you could get rid of me. We're just as real as each other. I promise I'll start listening to you more, if you promise to listen to me as well."
Other Naruto looked away as if he was contemplating this offer, then sighed. "What the hell." They shook hands and Naruto opened his eyes. This time in the real world, Naruto felt a sudden surge of incredible power flow through him as he saw a beautiful white shimmer surround him. Wukong smiled at him. "I see that you have become one with yourself." Naruto nodded. "I'm ready to learn sensei." Wukong nodded back. "Well then let's get started. We've got a lot to do and not much time to do it in. Go home and rest. I'll come get you in the morning."
