AN: This is an alternative version of my One Shot 'Dusk', an alternative meeting between Ezra, Kazu and the Ghost Crew. This is more aimed to be lighthearted comedy than Dusk. You don't have to have read Dusk to read Dawn, other the other way around.

Ciao for now,

ABSOLuteOG

The Ghost crew was somewhat stuck on Lothal. A part of the Ghost, their – well, Hera's – ship broke. They could call up the Rebellion to send something, but Hera wanted to check the planet's shops first. It would take not as long and would be less suspicious, especially with the Imperial presence here on Lothal. Especially here in Capital City, called Kothal by natives and locals, has a strong imperial presence.

So it came that Hera, her droid Chopper and Sabine walked though the city, looking for a shop that may sell a hyper drive that fits the Ghost. She looked on a map on a data pad, when she and Chopper walked into someone. Standing up from the dusty floor of Kothal, she saw she collided with a teen inn an orange suit and a green R4 astromech. The kid said, "Ah, sorry miss!" He then slightly hit his droid. "Apologize, Bean!", he said whispering at the R4.

"His name is Bean?", laughed Zeb.

"Hey, I didn't name him! My, uh, guardian did.", said the kid. "Bean, now." The mech peeped an apology as well as a little insult at the kid. "Oi, I heard that, Bean!" He then picked up Hera's data pad. "Are you looking for something specific?"

"Just a shop that sells a hyper drive compatible with a modified VCX-100.", answered Hera.

"I assume a light freighter?", asked the kid. "What hyper drive rating?"

Hera looked at him surprising, while Zeb and Sabine did the same. Hera answered, "Class two, class fourteen for the backup... Do you know about ships?"

"Mm, I'm still learning, but yeah. Anyway, I know a shop that sells what you need.", he said. "I can follow you the way."

"If you tell us your name, pipsqueak.", chimed Zeb in.

"The name's Ezra Bridger.", he said, "First of all, you walk into the wrong direction."

They followed Ezra, while Chopper and Bean slightly argued, essentially a droid dick comparison of their features, to a small shop.

"Oi, Grandma Ranasi! Here's a customer for you!", yelled Ezra into the shop.

Then a very short, blue-skinned woman walked to them. She had fully red eyes, the sclera as well as the iris. Her dark blue hair, not as black as Ezra's, had gray streaks, showing her age. She wasn't a species the Ghost crew recognized. They were surprised Ezra called her 'grandma', but adoption is a thing considering he said 'guardian', but with the imperial laws regarding interracial adoption... as in it is illegal. Ranasi saw them and said, "Hello, you all. Mm, where did you find them, Ezzy?"

"I accidentally walked into them.", said Ezra. "Is Kazu here?"

"In the basement, he repaints Zero.", said Ranasi. She then turned to the Ghost crew as Ezra walked to a stair case. "My name is Aithr'anasi'namalu." She saw the crew's faces and laughed a bit. "Don't worry, most non-Chiss can't pronounce our names, but we have core names for that. Call me Ranasina. Now, what do you need?"

"Both of my ships' hyper drives broke down. Main class two and backup class fourteen.", told her Hera. "For a modified VCX-100 light freighter."

"Mm, may you tell me what the modifications are? Mainly ones relating to the hyper drives.", said Ranasina.

"Mainly stuff so that my old C1-10P can man it.", said Hera. With that, she and Ranasina were talking ships. Sabine and Zeb explored the store. Sabine had the urge to ask Ranasina about her people's culture, especially language and name rules. Her full name is Aithr'anasi'namalu, that sounds pretty complicated! But as she was busy with Hera, Sabine couldn't do that. She wondered if maybe this Kazu was also a chiss? She then found the stair case Ezra walked down.

She walked down, where she found Ezra painting a droid, a R4-P. Despite being a P model, this droid has the normal sphere head the R line is known for, while the normal R4 has a cone head. Weird models, but reliable. To her disappointment, Kazu was human. No blue hair, but ash blond. No red eyes, but green with a white sclera. Pale as paper skin, like her team mate Kanan. No, paler.

"Kazu! Why did you paint Zero red? I literally painted him orange a week ago!", complained Ezra. "Do I need to remind you that I painted him that way so he doesn't look imperial?"

"Do I need to remind you that I am your master?", countered Kazu. Sabine froze as she heard that. Her first thought was if Ezra was a slave to that guy, it would explain why he referred to Kazu so weirdly. She was unsure what to do, so she returned to Hera and Zeb.

"Where have you been?", asked Zeb.

Before she could answer, they heard Ranasina shouting, "Kazu! Move your lazy ass over here! You need to deliver something for me!"

"Yes, Sina!", replied a voice. Kazu and Ezra then emerged from the stair case. "Now, only delivering or helping with the installation?"

"How much would you charge?", countered Hera.

Kazu told her, "If you allow me to use that as a chance to teach Ezra, I would give you a discount for the installation. We don't see VCX ships often here."

"Mm, okay.", agreed Hera. "But if you damage my ship-"

"We won't! Right, Ezra?"

"Speak for yourself, Kazu.", replied Ezra. "You scratched my droid." Zero then came. Like Ezra, he was not happy with the paint job. "And Zero also hates the paint job you did." Zero peeped angrily.

Hera lead them to her ship, Kazu followed with his own. His ship was not something Hera recognized. Her leading theory was that Kazu's Shard was chiss technology. Like Aithr'anasi'namalu's species, it is a mystery to the crew. On the way to the Ghost, Sabine was unsure about Ezra and Kazu. The use of the word 'master' irritated her. But Kazu teaches Ezra about ship and piloting, maybe he just used it as another word for teacher?

At the ghost, while Kazu checked the already installed hyper drives, Sabine approached Ezra, "I've noted you're not happy with your droid's paint, maybe I could redo it for you?" Zero peeped very excitedly about the prospect of changing colors again.

"Well, Zero seems to be on board.", said Ezra. "You can do that while Kazu and I install the new drives."

"What is your relationship with Kazu?, asked Sabine out of the blue.

"Well, he is my legal guardian, but he is also my mentor. For once, he teaches me piloting and ship maintenance." With that, he joined Kazu.

An hour later, they were done. Hera paid, Zero was purple now (better than the imperial black and red and he had some orange accents) and their ways split. For now.

Not even a week later, the new drives were very handy. The Ghost was on a mission. Kanan, Sabine and Zeb were rescuing someone from an imperial prison. As they fled, they walked into an armored figure. With a red light saber.

"Uh, I thought only Jedi have these...", muttered Zeb.

"Not a Jedi. That's a Sith.", said Kanan. "Sabine, Zeb, stand behind me. Trust me."

"Fine, you seem to know what that guy is.", agreed Zeb. Sabine agreed with that sentiment.

Then, to their surprise, Kanan took two parts from his belt – they never knew what these were for – and connected them, before activating a blue blade on his own.

"Mm, a Jedi! Knew it!", said the Sith. "And for your information, I am an Inquisitor." He attacked Kanan with his saber, who blocked it in light speed.

"Zeb, Sabine, leave!", yelled Kanan. He pushed them away with the force. Kanan continued to slash his saber against the Inquisitor's blade, pushing him away from Zeb and Sabine, who kept their distance, but didn't flee like he told them to. "Leave!"

"We won't leave you behind, Kanan!", argued Sabine, getting her blaster out of her holster. "Now you better leave!" Kanan pushed himself away from the Inquisitor. Sabine shot the imperial into the chest. The specters fled with their target into the Ghost.

As they left the planet's atmosphere, Kanan was cornered by Zeb and Sabine.

"Why hadn't you told us you're a Jedi?", demanded Zeb to know.

Kanan sighed, "Can we discuss this when the mission is over and Hera is available? I won't want to repeat myself."

"Fine."

After they dropped of their rescue – who very much not gave a Lothrat's ass about Kanan being a Jedi – they told Hera that Kanan is a Jedi. She also wanted to know why he didn't tell them. Unlike Sabine and Zeb, Kanan can't say no to her.

"I didn't tell you, because I don't consider myself one. I was never knighted.", said Kanan. "After Order 66, I figured it would be better not to be a Jedi."

Hera sighed. "I see, but we are a crew, a family. We need to be honest to each other, we need to trust each other. That includes you, Kanan."

He took a deep breath and said, "About that, my real name is Caleb Dume. I changed it after order 66."

hera crossed her arms, "I am more angry that you didn't tell us that. I assume you want to continue being Kanan?"

"Yes."

"Fine. But, I want that you use your abilities on missions. You could give us an edge.", demanded Hera.

"Okay..."

Weeks later, another rescue mission. They got used to Kanan being a Jedi. Sabine asked if his order ever made contact to the Chiss species. Kanan confirmed yes, but then he asked why she wanted to know.

"Remember Kazu and Ezra who fixed the Ghost a few weeks ago? Their boss was a Chiss woman.", explained Sabine.

"Oh."

"Oh? That's all?", asked Sabine.

"It is just, the kid, I sensed he was force sensitive. Very strongly even.", said Kanan. "That Inquisitor we met, I just worry for the kid that the Empire would turn him into one."

"Sabine, Kanan! Get ready!", they heard Hera though the speaker system. With that, their mission started.

This time, they had far less data on their rescue. As they broke into the complex, Kanan had a feeling. "Mm, I sense force users, but no Inquisitors."

"Maybe our rescue is force sensitive? You said the Empire is after such.", guessed Sabine. "As long as it isn't a Sith, that is good, right?"

"Right.", agreed Kanan.

They reached the cell. Sabine hacked into it and the door opened. Stepping out was the chiss lady, Kazu's boss. "Ranasina?", asked Sabine in shock.

"Exactly, dear. Mm, I'm surprised that you are the ones rescuing me, but I am thankful none the less.", replied Ranasina. She then looked to Kanan. "I suppose we never met? I'm Aithr'anasi'namalu, but you can call me Ranasina."

"Hello, then. We better get going.", said Kanan. The specters and Ranasina – who was surprisingly fit and agile for her age – ran back to where Hera was waiting for them with the Ghost and Chopper. As they ran though a hallway, a door exploded open and a bunch of Storm troopers were thrown against a wall. Out of the room came mist, they only saw something orange and yellow glowing there. The glow turned out to be an orange and a yellow light saber, both wielded by Ezra. The Troopers shot at Ezra, who reflected their shots back at them, knocking all the troopers out.

Zeb whistled impressed and said, "Kid's doing that better than Kanan."

But Ranasina shook her head, "Ai, Ezra! Why were you in there! Your luck these came to rescue me."

"Ah, I'm sorry, Anasi! But I needed to fetch this first.", he replied and threw something to her. "Mm, what are the Ghost crew doing here?"

"We got a call about someone needing rescue... are you a Jedi or something?", answered Sabine, adding a question of her own.

"We discuss that later, we better get going.", said Kanan.

"You go, I need to find Kazu.", said Ezra and ran off.

"Hm, here I thought Kazu just pushed his job onto Ezra again.", muttered Ranasina. "Now let's go, rebels."

"Aren't you worried about Ezra and Kazu?", wondered Zeb.

"No. Not about Ezra. More-so about his mentor.", said Ranasina. "Kazu tends to be an idiot."

They ran to the Ghost, where they saw Kazu's Shard close by. Ranasina wasn't sure which ship to enter. The ship that used to belong to her or the people that actively rescue her? Should she stay back for her unofficial grandson and his idiot mentor? Then another explosion of a door, this time leading into the hanger. Ezra came running, followed by Kazu. Kanan pulled out his saber when he saw Kazu wielded a red saber.

Ranasina told him sharply, "No need to attack Kazu, Jedi." Kazu and Ezra came to Ranasina. "Kazu, you made more trouble than you did help. Now go start the Shard. Ezra, where's your droid?"

"In the Shard, Anasi.", answered Ezra.

"Sina, did I jump the Jedi?"

"You know how they are when they see a red saber. Now go.", demanded Ranasina. She also boarded the Shard. "Thanks for the help, Ghosts, but here is where our ways split. Oh!" Storm troopers flooded the hanger and shot at them. Ezra started to reflect them with his yellow saber. Ranasina then activated the thing Ezra gave her, a red saber. Kanan was now even more irritated as the Shard started. Ranasina and Ezra moved slowly to the Shard.

Ezra said, "You better get going, Ghosts!"

"This is getting repetitive.", said Ranasina. Her saber started to flame up, a red fire emerging from the laser. She swung it and a wave of fire shot from it, incinerating the troops. "That's better."

Ranasina and Ezra boarded the Shard and flew off, the specters retreated into the Ghost and left ad well.

Kanan was unsure. Only dark side users – Sith – have red sabers. Does that mean Ranasina and Kazu are sith? In that case, Ezra is in danger! Sabine thought the same. "Didn't you say only sith have red sabers? Ezra must be in danger!"

"What about Ezra?", asked Hera from the cockpit. "Did you meet Ezra?"

"We tell you when we have the Empire off our tail.", decided Kanan. "But yes, we met Ezra. And Kazu. And Ranasina. We need to follow the Shard."

Hera jumped into the hyper space. "Can't do that, they already jumped, but I am certain they go to Lothal. Where is our rescue?"

"In the Shard. Apparently Ranasina waited for Ezra to rescue her.", said Zeb.

As they approached Lothal, Hera demanded answers.

"Ranasina was who we were tasked to rescue. As we freed her, we walked into Ezra, who fought a bunch bucket helmets with two sabers, better than Kanan does.", explained Zeb. "We wondered if he was a Jedi. He then gave Ranasina a saber."

"At the hanger, were we saw the Shard, Kazu came. He had a red saber.", continued Sabine. "Then Ranasina activated hers, also red."

Hera looked shocked, "Like sith?"

"I suppose, but their force signatures felt weird. Not like the ones of a sith. They also didn't attack us or just me. I'm confused, honestly.", added Kanan, "But I am still worried for Ezra."

"Then I say we get him away from the potential siths.", decided Hera. "Let's check if they returned to their shop."

"Mm..."

"Zeb?"

"It's just... who called us to rescue Ranasina? She waited for Ezra and Kazu, so I doubt they called us.", said Zeb. "On the other hand, she called Kazu incompetent, so maybe someone who didn't think Kazu would."

"Whoever called doesn't matter now.", said Kanan, "if I would have known we were called for a dark side user..."

"Kanan, that flame thing Ranasina did with her saber, can you do that as well?", asked Sabine.

Kanan shook his head, "No, no Jedi can do that for that matter."

Hera was right with her suspicion, Ranasina was back at her shop, so was Kazu and Ezra. Sabine had an idea to bait Ezra away from them, not one Kanan agreed with, though. "Are you crazy, they are sith-"

"I'm not necessarily convinced. They didn't attack us, didn't they?", countered Sabine. She approached the shop and greeted Ezra. "Hey Ezra!"

"Oh, Sabine? What are you doing here?", he asked, "Not that I'm not happy to see you."

"I wanted to check on you. Did the paint job on Zero hold up?", she asked.

"Mm! It did! He is as purple as always.", told her Ezra. "Something else?"

"Actually... Ranasina waited for you and Kazu, but someone called us."

"Oh, that. A friend of hers called you. He doesn't think highly of Kazu and thinks I am too young to rescue someone from the Empire.", explained Ezra. "Uh, sorry for wasting your crew's time."

"Ah, no need to apologize." She then grabbed Ezra by the arm and dragged him off. Zero was following him, peeping loudly.

"Uh, were are we going?"

"You see."

The two passed Kanan and Zeb, who followed them. They arrived at the Ghost. As Sabine dragged him in, Zero activated his rocket and flew to Ezra. The Ghost closed and they flew off, Sabine finally let go of Ezra.

Ezra is used to weird stuff – otherwise sounds impossible if one lives with Kazu and a chiss pilot – but being kidnapped by a crew his mismatched family helped is even for him too weird. "By Galaxis, what do you want from me?", he demanded to know. "Why did you kidnap me?"

"We didn't kidnap you, we rescued you.", said Kanan.

"Oh? From what? My home?", asked Ezra sarcastically.

"From two dark side users.", said Kanan.
