A young Nana Shimura looked at burning building in front of her. An orphanage or at least it was one. How the fire started is unknown and how many people it has killed is also unknown. Sadly the building was old and still made mostly of wood so there was no way they could save it.
An upgrade that was made to this building some years ago is the only reason firefighters and heroes could show up the scene thanks to the advanced fire detecting system that had been installed.
The first Meta Ability (quirk) was manifested by a new born in a city in China with the ability to radiate light from its body.
After this phenomenon, women around the world began to manifest different kinds of superpowers, which became known as Meta Abilities. While the cause of this phenomenon is unknown, it has been theorized that it was caused by the spread of a previously unknown virus carried by mice, although this theory had no hard evidence.
The dawn of this extraordinary era was marred by a breakdown of society caused by the sudden onslaught of criminals empowered by their newfound "superpowers" and ordinary people being prejudiced against the new minority.
The era of Vigilantes.
As chaos and unrest ensued due to the outbreak of Meta Abilities, ordinary (mostly) female civilians decided to take matters into their own hands to bring order to society and thus the first "Heroes" appeared in the form of and thus beginning the Vigilantes Era.
During this time period, All For One became a symbol of unity in society. She used her own to Meta Abilities to remove Meta Abilities from those who did not want them and give them to those that did. Her actions under the guise of returning society to its prior state of humanity, when in reality, she was gathering followers who were loyal to her, allowing her to act out his ulterior motives.
At some point, a woman gave birth to a daughter named Chikara. As Chikara grew up, she faced a lot of discrimination for having a Meta Ability. Her mother supported her, coining the term "Quirk" to refer to Meta Abilities, which became the most common term for such abilities, and for this she became known as the Mother of Quirks.
As society adapted to the new status quo, the Police Force moved to prioritize leadership and to maintain the status quo, and as such, decided not to use Quirks as weapons. To fill that void, the profession of crime-fighting Quirk users, Pro Heroes , began to exist, starting in Rhode Island, USA, which caused the Vigilantes to slowly disappear. Authorizing the use of powers that could so easily kill, however, was a greatly criticized decision at first, but eventually became accepted as a legitimate occupation. This became known as the "Advent of the Extraordinary".
A group of Quirk users known as the Meta Liberation Army , led by Chikara under the alias, Destro, had tried to stop the passing of regulations that would restrict Quirk usage. They rebelled against the governments of a number of nations for several years before ultimately suffering defeat.
Currently, only the women who now make up the most of the global population possess a Quirk and that percentage continues to increase.
In this world there were no male heroes sense it was only women that could have quirks. Off course that had its ups and downs but with time everybody got used to it. Nana was along with other heroines' friends of hers or just other heroines that had showed up on the scene as soon as they could.
They all looked at the burning building knowing there was little they could do as their quirks were of no help. Nana the 18 year old hero she was at the time looked at the door of the orphanage when suddenly she and many others saw a young boy carrying many of the children who were still stuck in the orphanage with what seemed to be black . . . tentacles?
(This is how i will describe them in the story so don't get excited. . . too much)
He looked weak blood pouring from the many cuts he had, some on his face others on the shoulders and arms visible through the holes on his shirt along with the many bruises he seemed to have.
He had dark green hair but that was probably from the smoke, he didn't look that old about 10-11 years old. With a build that a was a bit better than what most children his age had while also being a bit starved and scrawny looking.
After all this orphanage was not known for it's kindness towards the kids rather it had been on the verge of being closed for some years now due to reports of abuse among other things but as per usual the higher ups never got to it.
Which meant that the way the boy looked was to be given considering his life conditions. Nana did feel kind of bad for the kid but his physical appearance was only one of the things that were intriguing about him.
Those black tentacles were they part of a quirk? It seemed impossible given his gender and him being a girl was out of the question in her eyes. "Well no time to think about that." Thought Nana as the building started to completely collapse, the old wooden structure giving in.
The building was already long gone in Nana's eyes and the least she could was save the young kid. But much to everyone's dismay it was too late. The building collapsed out of nowhere crashing the kids and the green haired one that were tangled up in tentacles.
A scaring sight indeed that brought many to their legs.
Sighs of defeat and general discomfort filled the air as many heroines gasped at the horror, the crowd that had gathered to see what was happening had the same kind of reactions, audible gasps and sighs.
It came as a surprise to them when the fallen wood and steel that was on fire started to move; or rather shake would be a better word. The seconds passed and a large black ball came out of the ruins of the building.
It looked solid and oddly smooth as it started to crack, some smoke that had been caught inside the black bubble coming out. When it finally broke the kids that were supposedly crushed to death were inside it alive.
All of the heroines rushed to their position to help as each of the kids started to wake up and look around trying to take in the situation. The boy that Nana saw earlier looked even worse, his previously white shirt now almost blood red and even more torn than before..
The green haired boy stumbled, it's footing far from stable though luckily he was caught by a certain heroine Nana Shimura, who took him to the hospital as he was most definitely in need of medical attention. Though throughout the trip to the hospital there was only thing she could think about.
"Where those tentacles a part of a quirk and what about that bubble? Just who is this young boy?" She pondered as she flew as fast as she could to the hospital.
3 Hours Later
After intense medical care and a lot of stitching up the young boy slowly opened his eyes, everything was blurry, there was way too much light and loud beeps could be heard from somewhere in the room.
He looked around and saw he was at a hospital. . . . probably, gulping at the thought that it might be another orphanage. He looked outside the window of his room door and even though it was not fully transparent he could see multiple people standing outside his room.
He looked at their lips and saw that they were talking about a young boy with a quirk and he chuckled in pain. He had learned how to read lips from a young age, a useful skill to have and even though he was self-taught he was quite good at it.
The door to his room slowly opened and he smiled as he looked up at the ceiling. Many women came in, all of them heroines and among them Nana. He gulped down once more and took deep breaths as they sat around him.
"Izuku Midoroyia?" Asked a calm voice. Izuku looked on his right and saw a small woman that looked like a mouse? He had seen her on the TV in the caretakers room she was the . . . she was someone at that hero school UA or was it something else? . . . . . . . . his memory failed him but even if it hadn't done so there was little chance he knew who she was.
Actually there was no chance he knew who any of them were as the orphanages he had been to made good work at keeping the outside world a secret for no apparent reason. He had tried to learn things about the outside world but his plans would always be foiled one way or another.
"That's me" He said with a chuckle and the women smiled. "Hello my name is Nezu i am a Pro Hero and the principal of UA high school" She said and he sighed. Another school another prison all for the fact he had a quirk . . . why was it even such a big deal anyway?
"I would shake your hand but I can barely move so for now it is nice to meet you" He said with a smile and looked at his hands. They were all bandaged up making him chuckle. "This brings back memories" He thought out loud and they looked at him confused.
"Sorry just thinking out loud. So what do you want?" He asked trying to be as appropriate as he could though at the moment the pain he felt made that quite hard. "Izuku if I may call you that, are you aware that you have a quirk something that no man until you has ever shown to have?" She asked and he sighed.
"Yep i thought it would be about that. . . . so what will it be another orphanage where i will be under surveillance or am i old enough to go to prison oh and please call me Izuku" He said with a chuckle sitting up right.
Nezu looked at him confused as did the other heroines. "What the hell are you talking about you brat?" Asked a white haired woman he had also seen on television named Rumi or Rabbit Hero: Mirko who got immediately punched on the shoulder by another blonde woman.
Izuku sighed and rubbed his temple. "Well all i can tell you is that i have been at an orphanage my whole life, which in itself wouldn't be that weird were it not for the fact that i can never remember being put in one" He said sighing.
"What i actually remember living with my mother or a woman that was probably my mother?" He said not being sure himself.
"Either way when i saw you talking about me outside my room and then told me about my quirk i thought it was about that again" He said and they nodded seeming that this young man had a lot more to show that what met the eye.
"I am quite sorry to put it this bluntly but i need to check your quirk. Could you use it for us, a demonstration perhaps?" Nezu asked trying not to anger or scare the young boy in front of her.
He nodded seeing no reason not to and raised his hand. He looked at the shadow it made and black tentacles started coming out of the shadow. He moved his hand and they kept growing when in one swift motion they shot up surprising them.
He breathed out and the tentacles immediately got smaller forming a ball which he caught as it fell from the ceiling. "To keep it short. I can make anything form from any surface that is not hit by natural or artificial light. My shadows which is how i call them can't get burnt or frozen from the limited testing i have made and are quite resilient to physical damage as well. I can make anything with them but the more of them i use the more tiring it becomes." He said and gave Nezu the ball which she examined.
"It is light and soft perfect for protecting someone" She said and he smiled. "Sure if that is what i wish" He said and spikes gushed out of the ball the weight of it also changing. He gave the ball back to Nezu and she was surprised to see the surface was hard and it was a lot more heavy than before.
"Your quirk is amazing" Said another woman the hero Mt Lady real name Yu.
He chuckled. "Okay now what do you want?" He asked with a smile on his face. "Well after some talking we decided that we, as in all of us here will help you train this quirk of yours induct you into UA and help you get a more stable life instead of going back to that orphanage" Said Nezu and he laughed. "And what's your part of the deal?" He asked and Nezu smirked. "You will become a professional hero and save people" She said and he smiled.
Was it a fair deal? NO It was unfair for them as he would be gaining much more but he didn't care anything but another orphanage.
Weighing his options his quickly made his choice offering his hand to Nezu which she excitedly shook. "You have chosen well Izuku" She said with a wide smile that definitely hid many things underneath.
"Remember when you said that having a male with a quirk was weird for some reason?" He asked Nezu getting a quick nod in return. "Well..." He smiled, his hair starting quake before two cute green ears and a long tail came spurting out, out of nowhere.
They were surprised to say the least, some excited at the prospect of touching some just confused on things had ended up. "Are they?" Tried to ask the Hero Mandalay real name Shino and his ear twitched making her look at him with stars in her eyes.
His eye twitched knowing full well where this was going. "*Sigh* Two things, i have a cat quirk and Yes They Are Sensitive" He spelled out and gaining nods from everyone though some seemed fake to say the least as, Pixie Bob also known as Ryuko tried to touch his ears.
He quickly reached for her wrist faster than she could react and held it there. His hands were soft to the touch and he didn't really put much force onto her writs. He smiled and let go of her hand. "I really mean it, they are sensitive" He said with a weak smile as he was know half out of bed.
He still wore his shorts but his shirt was off and the only thought that crossed their minds at the time was that he had way too good and bad of a body for an eleven year old also he was too tall! Three more years and he would most certainly surpass all of them in height even Rumi with her long ears.
Turning to Nezu he remembered what he done today."Can i ask you something?" He asked and they nodded. "Did any of the kids i tried to save survive?" He asked almost reluctantly and Nezu smiled with a bit of pride hidden behind her smile. "Yes thanks to you they are all safe" She said and he smiled closing his eyes with his tail going from left to right.
It had been two years now since Izuku had started his training and it was all going quite well. His physic was already quite good which meant that the heroines wouldn't have to go as hard on him, being able to focus more on his quirk and develop it with the proper gear and space Izuku did not have during his stay at the many orphanages.
Not to say he hadn't done well on his own as he had made his quirk quite powerful with what he had but with their help and the many suggestions they gave him he managed to uncover things about his quirk he would have never thought where possible.
Izu was with the right kind of people. People that had become great on their own and were more than happy to push him past his limits more than once. But more importantly give him the attention and sometimes love he needed.
Izu was always cooperative never going against something that he was asked to do. And while it did make their job a hell of a lot easier, it made it seem as if he didn't really have a will of his own.
Asking him about this led to nowhere as in his eyes he was acting normally. The attitude he had gained in the orphanage, while not necessarily bad, had closed him up. He wouldn't really be open about most things.
His past was unknown to both parties, his interests had yet to be truly discovered and in the small talk was all that they could get out of the young green haired boy. Adding to the fact that he was quite shy and introverted from character all the above just made it hell to communicate.
Ryuko the dragon hero, being on the down low herself was one of the few people that managed to get him to talk. Their pace matched a lot more than with others as both took their time to think before speaking and would rarely encroach weird subjects.
Weirdly enough though Rumi was the other person he had actually started speaking too. The bunny girl with the brash and sometimes hated attitude found Izuku to be just like her in ways nobody saw.
He smiled during the hardest of times where she grinned, a similarity in her mind even though it barely was one, he would occasionally act on impulse like her dew to their animalistic quirks truly two sides of the same coin, she had once said.
Either way the two would also talk though with her, no subject was out of the question. He would ask away and she would answer however weird the question. She found his thirst for knowledge cute but where it anyone else she would have probably kicked their asses.
Lastly the upcoming hero Nana was one the last people he actively talked to which came to no surprise to anyone as she was known to be able to make anyone talk with that smile of hers. Their relationship boiled down to, older sister-younger brother but neither did mind it.
They all knew that it would take some time for Izuku to truly embrace his new life but they would be there for him, one way or another.
