This is Chapter 9 of my X-Men Story that takes place in the X-Men Animated Series Universe and my own few additions. Hope you enjoy. And do go back and check out the previous chapters first if you missed them. Espically Chapter 8 which is the first part of this 2-parter.
PREVIOUSLY ON X-MEN: RECAP OF "SINISTER (PART 1)"
TITLE CARD: "SINISTER (PART 2)"
SCENE: "SINISTER VICTORY"; WORTHINGTON CASTLE
The X-Men stood in object horror at the apparent death of Quantum. Gorgeous George has released Gambit and Colossus to rejoin Sinister. Emma Frost has a horrific look on her face. Her head drops as she stares at the ground.
MR. SINISTER
All those who fight the future I am destined to create will fall before me! You see X-Men. None can stop Mr. Sinister!
CYCLOPS
You monster! You'll pay dearly for that.
WOLVERINE
Trust me bub, you just made the worst mistake of your life. No one kills my friends.
But before they can act Ruckus regains his senses and screams bringing the X-Men to their knees again. Nightcrawler teleports to the X-Jet to escape after a nod from Cyclops. But the second after he does, Ruckus inexpiably stops screaming. It sounds as if he is choking. He is lifted slightly off the ground as a white flame seems to form around his throat. This is followed by a cracking sound. Some force has crushed Ruckus's windpipe. He collapses in a heap clutching his throat. Gorgeous George inexplicably collapses too. The X-Men turn to see the same white flame surrounding Emma Frost and her eyes are glowing white as well.
JEAN GREY
The leftover Phoenix Force powers! They are activated by rage!
The X-Men stare in amazement and horror as Emma Frost calmly but violently walks towards Mr. Sinister. Emma Frost's new psychic powers are even canceling out those of Sinister.
MR. SINISTER
What?! How can your power be so strong? That's imp…
Sinister is cut off by Emma's power grabbing his throat the same way she did Ruckus's. She tears a bit of him away from his body. At this point Psylocke and Archangel have regained consciousness and have been viewing the battle.
PSYLOCKE
How is that possible? Even my energy waves could not affect Sinister.
ARCHANGEL
With all due respect my dear, you do not have the Phoenix's power in you.
But just as Archangel says this, the amount of energy Emma has exerted causes her to collapse. Sinister (who is weakened at this point) tries to escape but is caught with an energy blast from Cyclops.
CYCLOPS
Where do you think you're going?
MR. SINISTER
AHHHH… NO!
Cyclops again blasts Sinister, shattering more of his body. Psylocke joins in as well. Even Archangel can hurt Sinister with his projectile blades in his weakened state. Jean Grey then uses her psychic powers to spread the very tiny bits of Sinister in all directions. Nightcrawler has teleported back in to rejoin the other X-Men.
JEAN GREY
It will be quite some time before he is able to pull himself back together again.
ARCHANGEL
Thank you, my friends. Elizabeth and I owe you one.
ROGUE
Think nothin' of it, shugah.
CYCLOPS
We were more than willing to help.
WOLVERINE
(Referencing Emma Frost)
But what do we do about her? With that kind of power inside her, can we just bring her back to the mansion?
NIGHTCRAWLER
We mustn't mistrust the Fräulein. We must help her channel her new strength. As with God, we must have faith in her.
JEAN GREY
Kurt is right. If for nothing else but for Quantum, we must help her. After my experience with the Phoenix, it is my fault this problem exists.
WOLVERINE
You can't blame yourself, Jean.
CYCLOPS
Logan's right (for once). Don't put that burden on yourself. We will all help Emma.
NIGHTCRAWLER
We will be God's hand and help her through her trials.
SHADOWCAT
(Crying)
But we lost Mitchel. It…
Kitty begins to cry uncontrollably and embraces Colossus to ease her pain. The X-Men have a moment of silence for Quantum.
They then tend to Emma Frost and bid farewell to Archangel and Psylocke. The X-Men then load back into the X-Jet and tearfully head back to the X-Mansion.
END SCENE
SCENE: "SADNESS"; THE DANGER ROOM, A FEW DAYS LATER.
The past few days have seen significant improvement in Emma Frost's physical condition. She's adapted to her new abilities much quicker than had been expected. Even in frustration and moments of rage, she has been able to control them.
She now has a session in the infamous Danger Room where she can safely test her powers on robots and holograms. Beast, Professor Xavier, Cyclops, and Jean Grey watch from the observation chamber high above the Danger Room.
PROFESSOR X
She appears to be doing well.
JEAN GREY
A lot better than I did when I was infused with the Phoenix's powers.
CYCLOPS
That isn't the same, Jean. Emma is only dealing with a small bit of the Phoenix's power. Your entire being was taken over by the entirety the Phoenix Force.
BEAST
I do believe you are starting to sound like Storm, Scott (laughs).
Cyclops rolls his eyes a bit (and tells the group so), but Emma completes the program and seems no worse for wear.
EMMA FROST
Not bad, huh Beast?
BEAST
(Through the Danger Room's PA System)
Your new powers are quite intriguing Miss Frost. Even more than that is your impeccably quick mastery of them.
EMMA FROST
When I put my mind to it, I can do anything. Why do you think the Hellfire Club wanted me so badly?
Emma Frost then leaves the Danger Room to head to the X-Mansion's elevator to go back to her dorm. She feels quite proud of herself for controlling the Phoenix powers so quickly but has a terrible sadness in her as her mind shifts to Mitchel… no Quantum. A couple of tears streamed down her face.
END SCENE
SCENE: "HOPE"; MACTAGGERT RESEARCH CENTER, MUIR ISLAND, SCOTLAND.
The former X-Man Morph lays in his bed in his new home in the MacTaggert Research Center.
A flashback is shown of his corruption by Mr. Sinister and him coming close to destroying the X-Men.
Morph is very close to his normal self again. He even is back to cracking jokes. But then the mutant Banshee runs into his room looking very upset.
MORPH
What's wrong Banshee? Is everything okay?
BANSHEE
(Sadly)
Quantum is dead. It was Sinister.
The news floods Morph's mind with all the horrible things he did under Mr. Sinister's control. But, as a testament to his recovery, he finds the strength to quickly calm himself.
MORPH
That is awful.
(A few tears well in Morph's eyes)
He was a close friend. I will greatly miss him.
BANSHEE
The X-Men are on with Moira if you want to join us.
Morph nods and walks with Banshee to the video screen where Moira MacTaggert is speaking with Cyclops, Storm, and Professor Xavier.
PROFESSOR X
Hello, Morph.
MORPH
Hi, Professor. I am so sorry about what happened.
STORM
We all are. Quantum was a close friend to us all.
PROFESSOR X
He was certainly a big part of this school.
CYCLOPS
And this family.
MORPH
(Thinking to himself)
Cyclops takes losses really hard. But it is nice to know we are family to him.
(Out loud)
Our thoughts are with you all, right Moira?
MOIRA
Aye, that they are. Keep ya heads high X-Men. You will have support from us no matter what.
BANSHEE
Moira must stay here for our residents, but I will be seeing you all tomorrow for Quantum's Memorial.
MORPH
May I come with you too?
Banshee looks at Moira, but she nods approvingly. Morph smiles but suddenly hears Quantum's voice.
MORPH
Did you hear that?
MORIA
Hear what, Morph?
MORPH
I heard Quantum's voice… He's still alive.
Morph runs to the nearby window and looks out to the bluffs around the facility. Amazingly he sees Quantum laying there on the ground!
BANSHEE
You are hearing things my friend. Maybe you should not come with me tomorrow.
MOIRA
Aye, I didn't hear anything.
MORPH
Or really?
(Pointing to Quantum out the window)
Then what is that?
Moira and Banshee are shocked to see Quantum's body lying right outside their door. Banshee opens the window and flies out to retrieve him.
PROFESSOR X
What is out there Moira?
Banshee returns with Quantum.
MOIRA
Take a look for yaself, Charles.
The X-Men are shocked to see Quantum seemingly alive. At this moment Emma Frost walks by and sees Quantum on the screen.
EMMA FROST
QUANTUM! (Pushing towards the screen) YOU'RE ALIVE!
