Hello all Storm here with a new chapter! It's been a while since this story was updated, but a new chapter is finally here. And here we'll be getting a small timeskip, showing how things have changed since the loss of Tenrou Island and everyone on it, and how Wendy's changed as well. So, without further ado.
I own nothing
Two months have passed since the Fairy Tail Guild was informed of the destruction of Tenrou Island and the loss of their guildmates and master. All of them having mourned the losses, but knew they couldn't do nothing even with their strongest members now gone. Knowing none of them would want to see the guild fall apart just because they weren't around anymore.
The first thing they did was elect a new Guild Master, with Macao eventually being chosen as the Fourth Guild Master of Fairy Tail given he's one of the older and more experienced members they had left. Though Macao hadn't been confident he could take Makarov's place, he wasn't going to let everyone down. While having Wakaba as his personal adviser to help him manage the job requests sent to them and the guild's finances.
Meanwhile, Wendy had been depressed for a while after the news of her friends and masters deaths, reminding her of how she lost everyone in Cait Shelter. Devastating the Dragon Slayer to lose more people she cared about.
But she also knew she couldn't sit around moping forever, knowing she still needed to do what she can to help Fairy Tail and support the friends and guildmates she still had. Leading to Wendy training more than she's ever done before, wanting to grow stronger so she'll never be a burden to anyone. That didn't mean she ignored her healing and supportive abilities, though.
Having gone to Porlyusica to get her help improving her Healing and Support Magic, something The Healing Mage reluctantly agreed to after seeing how stubborn Wendy was about learning from her. While for her Dragon Slayer Magic, Wendy worked on the offensive abilities of it by herself. Having searched Gajeel's and Natsu's homes for anything on Iron Dragon Slayer Magic and Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, anything that she could adapt to her Sky Dragon Slayer Magic.
She and Carla had also all but moved into Natsu's home, having made sure to also clean the place up, though were extra careful in what they threw out. Not wanting to accidently throw out anything valuable or important to Natsu and Happy.
Wendy trained as much as she could, sometimes even training into the night, only stopping when she couldn't keep moving and needed to rest. Though she only rested the bare minimum to avoid burning herself out, once she did she went right back to training.
At the moment though, Wendy and Carla were sitting at one of the tables in the guild, the bluenette sighing contently as she just finished her meal.
"Thanks for the food Kinana, I feel completely refreshed and ready." Said Wendy, with the purplette smiling at her as she came over grabbing the empty dishes.
"I'm glad you liked it, Wendy. Are you going to get some rest now?" Questioned Kinana, looking at the Dragon Slayer hopefully that she'll rest, only for Wendy to shake her head.
"No, Carla and I are going to get some jobs done." Wendy replied, intending to grab some Job Requests to complete, making Kinana sigh in resignation at all the responsibilities she's taking on by herself.
Given with the loss of their core members, Fairy Tail has already begun feeling the impact of losing their strongest members. No longer having them around to take on the toughest and highest paying jobs, which helped bring in plenty of Jewels.
But now with them gone, the rest of the guild had begun doing what they can to complete as many Job Requests as they could to keep bringing in job rewards. Only for there to soon be a rise in failures, which soon lead to less Job Requests being sent to the guild.
All of them knowing that they weren't able to compare to those they lost, leaving them unable to handle the same kind of jobs the core members took. With only Wendy and Carla still being able to regularly complete the jobs they take.
Which is what Wendy did when she wasn't training or the short time she took to rest, constantly taking as many Job Requests as she could. Since she and Carla were the sole survivors of their core members, she took it upon herself to take on the bulk of the Job Requests they still got. Seeing it as her responsibility to show that Fairy Tail was still strong and capable.
"Carla, come on let's go see what Job Requests there are." Wendy said while looking at her partner, seeing that Carla's currently reading a book on Transformation Magic along with there being a few books on Light Magic and Illusion Magic.
The Exceed desired to do more to help her friend on job, not wanting to have Wendy do everything herself. Leading to Carla to begin her own training to learn more types of Magic, allowing her to actually fight alongside Wendy rather than do nothing.
"What? Oh right, yes, let's go, Wendy." Said Carla, taking a few moments to hear what Wendy said with how focused she was on her book.
Getting up, the duo went over to the job board to see what was available, with Wendy unable to help but sigh sadly at how seemed there were fewer and fewer requests each time they checked it. Before the bluenette saw two requests that weren't too far from each other and grabbed them.
"What do you think of these two?" Wendy asked, showing Carla the requests, with the Exceed frowning when she saw one was a Wyvern Extermination Job.
"Wendy…are sure about this one? Wyverns are incredibly dangerous, even for older and more experienced Mages. Are you sure we should deal with them?" Said Carla, concerned about Wendy doing such a dangerous job.
"I'm sure, since we're going to have to do dangerous jobs like this eventually, besides I'm a Dragon Slayer so I'll be able to handle it. And the Wyvern Job can be done on the way to this one, helping out at a hospital. That way once we're done with the Wyverns, we can go straight to the next job." Explained Wendy, believing she can handle Wyverns which are might as well be weaker versions of Dragons, with Carla sighing at her words.
"I…if…if you're sure. I'm just worried about you pushing yourself so hard, Wendy. It's only been two months since you've increased your training, now you want to fight something like Wyverns." Carla said, worried that Wendy might end up taking a job neither of them would be able to handle alone, one that'd cost them greatly.
"I understand you're concerned, Carla, but I can't stop now. I need to keep training and taking harder jobs so I can get stronger, so that…that what happened on…Tenrou Island never happens again. Not just that, but I need to help keep the guild standing and the only way to do that is taking jobs that offer bigger rewards." Wendy said, refusing to stop now, not when she still had so much to do to grow stronger and keep Fairy Tail afloat.
If that meant pushing herself to her limits in training and taking jobs she'd never have even considered doing by herself, then she'll do it. As long as it meant what happened on Tenrou Island didn't happen again and she made sure her guild stayed standing, there's nothing she won't do.
"…Okay, let's go then. Just…please be careful when we get there." Said Carla in acceptance, not liking it but knew Wendy wouldn't be dissuaded.
Smiling and nodding at her partner, Wendy took the requests over to Kinana to know she's taking them, before she and Carla went home to pack then head to the train station.
*Later*
After getting packed up, Wendy and Carla headed to the train station where they got on a train heading to the village being attacked by Wyverns, then afterwards heading to the hospital for their second job. With it, luckily, not taking long before the train arrived.
The two immediately noticing the state the village was in, seeing several buildings were damaged or destroyed with even more people being injured.
"It seems like the Wyverns must've attacked again, recently." Carla stated while looking around with a frown as they walked through the village.
"Yeah. Come on, let's go see where the leader is and find where the Wyverns are coming from." Said Wendy, the Exceed nodded in agreement before they began looking for the leader of the village could be.
Moving through the village, Wendy and Carla looked for anyone that could be the leader, the bluenette feeling herself shaking slightly at the sight of those that were injured. Before she quickly shook her head, not wanting to get distracted from her job.
"Are you one of the Mages here for the Wyverns?" Someone asked, making the two stop and look to see an older man approaching them.
"Yes, we're the Mages that are here to help with the Wyverns." Replied Wendy as who she guessed was the village leader frowned.
"Just you two? A child and a cat?" Questioned the leader, not believing that this who was sent to defeat the Wyverns.
"I'll have you know that we are more than capable of handling Wyverns!" Carla retorted with a huff, even if she would've preferred an easier job, she wouldn't tolerate anyone underestimating her or Wendy.
"Carla's right, sir. I'm a Dragon Slayer, so you have nothing to worry about. We just need to know where the Wyverns are and how many we should expect." Added Wendy, making the leader sigh and drag a hand down his face.
"…Alright, I suppose we should take any help we can get. The Wyverns fly down from the mountains in the west, coming at least three or four times a week. Whenever they do they destroy everything they can before flying off with our livestock. As for how many, we've seen three so far." The man explained, with Carla frowning worriedly that there were three Wyverns, while Wendy made sure to hide her own nervousness.
'Three Wyverns, that's…not so bad, it could've been a lot more. But even three will still be really hard to fight when it's just me and Carla. We'll need to be careful.' Wendy thought, refusing to back down when they're already here.
"Understood. We'll head there right away, and don't worry, the Wyverns will be gone before you know it." Said Wendy, the leader only nodded skeptically.
"Right, just be careful yourselves out there." Said the leader before heading back to continue helping with rebuilding the village, while Wendy and Carla headed in the direction of where the Wyvern were located.
*Later*
The Dragon Slayer and Exceed traveled through the forest towards the mountains that the Wyverns were nesting in. With them also working out a plan for how to defeat the Wyverns, doubting they'll be able to beat three of them in a straight fight. Instead thinking of ways to keep them distracted and off-balance, making it easier for them to attack.
They also stayed on the lookout in case the Wyverns were close by, with Carla flying up above the trees occasionally to get a better view of their surroundings. Both to make sure they were still going the right way and looking for any sign of the Wyverns.
"Do you see anything, Carla?!" Wendy called out, looking up at her partner, while up in the sky Carla looked around for anything.
"No…nothing yet! But…" Said Carla, narrowing her eyes for any sign of movement, before her eyes widened when she saw three things flying through the air coming from the mountains.
"Wendy! I think they're coming towards us, now!" Carla said, making Wendy let out a shuddering breath before swallowing her nerves in preparation.
"Okay! Then remember, like we planned, distract them and then I'll hit them!" Said Wendy, hoping that there plan will work and give them a chance to defeat the Wyverns quickly, before they could get a chance to retaliate.
"Right!" Replied Carla, preparing to get the Wyverns attention so Wendy can bring them down.
Waiting until they were close enough, Carla quickly flew up into the air. Getting the Wyverns attention at the sight of her, with the Exceed stopping once the sun was behind her.
"Solar Flare!" Carla said as she created a bright flash of light behind her, making the Wyverns screech as they were blinded by the light, with Wendy rushing forward to stand right underneath the Wyverns.
"Sky Dragon's Tornado!" Wendy said with wind gathering and spiraling around her arms, before she threw them up at the Wyverns unleashing a large tornado at them.
With the Wyverns being unable to avoid the tornado, roaring as they were thrown through the air and sent crashing into the ground. Looking to where they landed, Wendy saw that they were just ordinary Green Wyverns.
Green Wyverns are exceedingly large, draconian beasts that are predominantly green in color. Their entire body is covered in scales, save for the milky white underside of its neck, which continues on through its stomach, and the underside of its tail. The back of the Green Wyvern's legs are also milky white. Attached to their arms and sharp-clawed hands, are a Wyvern's webbed wings, which are rippled and torn, highly reminiscent of a bat's. The Green Wyvern's legs are hunched and muscular, with a spike extending out of each knee, and three jagged, white spikes running vertically up each calf. In addition, each foot has three white, extremely sharp in the front, and one long, white talon coming out of its heel. Atop its angular head, the Green Wyvern has long, sharp orange spikes running down each side of its spine, which get smaller and smaller, until they eventually stop at the base of its long, prehensile tail. The Green Wyvern has small, beady eyes. Inside its large mouth, a Green Wyvern has many, very sharp, spaced teeth.
"Carla, come on, this one first!" Said Wendy, pointing to the first Wyvern that had crashed down closest to them, wanting to try and take them out one at a time to avoid being overwhelmed by all three.
"Right! Light Beam!" Said Carla, shooting a beam of light out of her paw at the Wyvern's eyes, making the creature roar and thrash around at the pain in its eyes.
"Sky Dragon's Crushing Fang!" Wendy said, jumping up and cloaking her hand in a whirlwind, before swinging her hand at the Wyvern like a claw.
Though she managed to hit it, the bluenette saw she barely left a mark on the Wyvern's hide, with her then having to quickly jump back to avoid being hit as the Wyvern thrashed around.
"Sky Dragon's Claw!" Said Wendy, generating strong winds around her leg and kicked it at the Wyvern, releasing a blast of wind at it.
Before her eyes widened when the Wyvern managed to get back up to its feet, roaring loudly while looking around wildly for who attacked it. Only to spot the Dragon Slayer and Exceed, roaring at them before charging forward with surprising speed despite its large size.
"Light Barrage!" Carla said, shooting multiple balls of light in front the Wyvern that floated in the air only to explode when the creature hit them, engulfing it in blasts of light.
"Okay! O strengthen of arm to cleave the heavens! ARMS!" Wendy chanted while placing an enchantment on herself boosting her offensive strength, with her then gathering a large amount of swirling wind around her fist.
"Sky Dragon's Shredding Fist!" Said Wendy, thrusting her fist towards the Wyvern and unleashing a spiraling blast of high-velocity wind at it.
The Wyvern screeched in pain the moment the attack hit it, not only from the powerful wind, but also how it began drilling into its body. Throwing the creature back through the forest, demolishing dozens of trees in its path.
With the sight making Wendy smile at seeing her new spell worked, having based it on Natsu's Fire Dragon's Iron Fist and Gajeel's Iron Dragon's Hard Fist. While also making it so the wind used in it moved at a very high velocity, allowing her to cut through things like they were blades or shards of metal, similar to some of Gajeel's spells that had iron shards in them.
Leading to her naming it Sky Dragon's Shredding Fist, given how it's mean to cut and shred anything it touches. This being the first times she's used it on an actual target, rather than just practicing on trees.
'And it worked!' Wendy thought, feeling happy at her spell managing to knock the Wyvern back and even injure it.
"Wendy!" Carla said flying forward and tackling the bluenette out of the way, just in time to avoid being trampled by one of the other Wyverns.
Only for Wendy and Carla to cry out when the third Wyvern recovered as well, charging straight at them and slammed its head into the duo. Sending them flying back and crashing into a tree, before falling to the ground.
Though they didn't have a chance to recover, as they were forced to get out of the way as the two Wyverns charged at them again, intent to crush the bluenette and Exceed.
"Ch-Cherry Blossom Storm!" Said Carla, forming an illusion of thousands of cherry blossom petals swirling around the Wyverns, making them screech and try to escape what they believed were razor-sharp flower petals slicing them all over.
"Sky…Sky Dragon's Sigh!" Said Wendy as she gathered a large amount of air between her hands, before thrusting her arms forward releasing a blast of air at the Wyverns knocking them back a little.
"Carla, here! O swift wind that dashes through the heavens! VERNIER!" Wendy chanted, with Carla being surrounded by a magical aura before she vanished in a burst of speed flying all around the Wyverns.
"Light Grenades!" Carla said, firing several balls of light at the Wyverns which exploded on contact, with them roaring as they tried biting down on the Exceed only for her to move too fast for them.
"My turn now! Sky Dragon's-" Said Wendy, only to cry out in pain when the first Wyvern had recovered from her Shredding Fist, charging forward and slamming into Wendy from behind knocking the Dragon Slayer into the air.
"Wendy! Hang on!" Carla said quickly flying forward, catching Wendy before she could hit the ground.
Only for the Exceed to have to immediately fly away when one of the Wyverns rushed at them with its mouth open to devour the two, just barely avoiding being eaten.
"Carla, throw me up and hold them down!" Wendy said, making the Exceed look at her in disbelief but eventually nodded.
"Okay!" Said Carla before throwing Wendy high up into the air then turned back to the Wyverns.
"Forest Wrath!" Carla said, creating an illusion of numerous roots bursting out of the ground ensnaring the Wyverns, causing draconian creatures to roar and thrash to try and break free.
"O strengthen of arm to cleave the heavens! ARMS! Sky Dragon's Wing Attack!" Wendy said, enchanting herself to boost her strength, followed by forming two large whirlwinds around both of her arms.
The whirlwinds twisted and rushed down towards the Wyverns engulfing all three in a massive cyclone of wind that began throwing them around the forest. With Wendy keeping the attack up for as long as she could before stopping, not wanting to drain all her Magic.
Wendy was then caught by Carla when she began falling out the sky, with the two looking down to see the Wyverns had been thrown around by her whirlwinds. Only for them to already be picking themselves up from the ground, roaring up at them.
"Come on, Carla! We need to hurry!" Wendy said, knowing they needed to take the Wyverns down fast.
"I know Wen…wait…where's the third one?!" Carla said in worry when she realized only two Wyverns were on the ground, but the third one wasn't anywhere in sight, making Wendy's eyes widen at the realization.
Before they heard a roar coming towards them, making Wendy and Carla look to see the third Wyvern was back in the air and coming right them!
"Armor!" Said Wendy, enchanting herself and Carla with stronger defensive power, just in time as the Wyvern slammed into them sending the two crashing into the ground.
Gasping from the impact even with the enchantment, Wendy grunted as she shakily stood up, only for her eyes to widen when she saw Carla on the ground. Even more so when she saw one of the Wyverns charging towards the Exceed with its mouth open.
"No! O strengthen of arm to cleave the heavens! ARMS! O swift wind that dashes through the heavens! VERNIER!" Wendy said, using both enchantments to boost her strength and speed, before rushing at the Wyvern and jumping up to its head.
"Sky Dragon's Crushing Fang!" Said Wendy, gathering wind around her hand and slashing it at the Wyvern's head, her enchantments giving her the boost to slice through its hide, making the Wyvern screech in pain as its face was slashed open.
"Now go down! Sky Dragon's Shredding Fist!" Wendy said, pulling back her other hand as wind began swirling around her fist.
Before she slammed it straight down on top of the Wyvern's head, with the creature letting out a silent scream of agony from the drilling into its head. Until it smashed right into the ground and went still, much to Wendy's surprise and disbelief.
'I…I actually beat it…I beat it!' Wendy thought, feeling some pride that she was able to take down a Wyvern.
"Wendy, behind you! Light Impact!" Said Carla as she got up, only to see one of the remaining Wyverns lunging at the Dragon Slayer from behind.
With Carla being engulfed in a bright light and shooting straight forward where she crashed into the Wyvern, stopping it from crushing Wendy. Only for the Wyvern to bring its wings up in front of it, blocking Carla, before then throwing its wings out knocking the Exceed away.
"Car-" Wendy said, only to grunt in pain when the Wyvern spun around and slammed its tail into her, sending the bluenette crashing into a tree.
While the Wyvern in the air roared loudly before diving down straight towards Wendy as she was getting up, making her eyes widened at the sight. Before Wendy began sucking in the air in preparation to try and knock the Wyvern back.
"Sky Dragon's…ROAR!" Wendy roared, unleashing a large tornado-like blast of wind at the Wyvern, with the spell pushing it back before it could crash into her.
Only for the Wyvern to roar, flapping its wings causing Wendy's Dragon Roar to be destabilized allowing the draconian creature to rush at her again, leaving Wendy no time to dodge.
"Wendy! Light Beam!" Said Carla, shooting a beam of light, managing to hit the Wyvern's eye and getting a pain-filled roar from it at being blinded.
This giving Wendy the chance to jump out of the way just as the Wyvern crashed down into the ground, only to grunt in pain when the Wyvern's thrashing sent a tree crashing into her. Slamming into the bluenette's back and knocking her to the ground, groaning from the impact.
'Oh man…I'm already starting to feel a drain on my Magic from all the spells and enchantments I've used. We really need to end this so-' Wendy thought before freezing when she heard Carla cry out.
Quickly getting up and looking to her partner, Wendy saw the other Wyvern had stomped its foot down on top of Carla, pinning her partner to the ground and was now crushing. The sight terrifying and angering Wendy at her friend being hurt.
"Leave her alone! Sky Dragon's Sigh!" Said Wendy, gathering a large amount of air in her hands before launching the blast of air at the Wyvern.
Only for the creature to raise its wings blocking the blast, though Wendy lunged forward and jumped up at the Wyvern, generating powerful winds from feet propelling herself even faster at the Wyvern.
"Sky Dragon's Claw!" Wendy said, flipping and kicking her leg at the Wyvern, releasing blasts of wind at it, which the creature blocked with its wings.
With the Wyvern then quickly spreading its wings out creating a gale of wind, making Wendy cry out as the wind knocked her away. Only to then cry out again in pain as the Wyvern charged at her, swiping its claws at the Dragon Slayer and striking Wendy across her back. The strike also sending her crashing into a tree, making the bluenette bit her tongue to hold back another scream.
"Y-yo-you…don't touch Wendy, you vermin! Light Lasso!" Said Carla before forming a rope made of light, which she swung and wrapped around the Wyverns leg.
Before she then managed to get up and fly around, wrapping the light rope around the Wyvern's legs, causing it to trip and fall to the ground when it tried moving.
"Try eating this now! Light Grenade!" Carla said forming a large ball of light which she threw into the Wyvern's mouth, with it soon exploding making the Wyvern screech in agony from the burning in its mouth.
"I-I'll…I'll finish it Carla! Sky Dragon's Tearing Tornado!" Said Wendy, struggling to stand for a moment before managing to pick herself up, gathering a large amount of wind around her arms.
With her then thrusting them forward, creating a large tornado that surrounded the Wyvern, making it roar in pure pain as it began being slashed all over its body from the high-velocity winds.
The spell being a stronger version of her normal Sky Dragon's Tornado, with the tornado rotating even faster and the wind being sharpened to be able to cut through anything trapped inside of it.
Wendy kept up the attack until she couldn't hear the Wyvern anymore, stopping it to see the Wyvern lying the ground dead just like the first one.
'Th-that's two…now…just…one more to-' Wendy thought only to scream in pain when the last Wyvern sped at her before spinning around and slamming its tail into her, sending the bluenette crashing right through a tree.
"I didn't say you could touch Wendy either, you stupid lizard! Light Beam!" Carla said, shooting a beam of light at the draconian creature, which it blocked with its wing.
Once the attack stopped, the Wyvern let out an ear-piercing roar, making the Exceed cry out and cover her ears, but could still feel her head ringing from the volume. Before she then screamed when the Wyvern spun around and wrapped it tails around her.
"N-No! Carla!" Wendy said while trying to stand up, only to stumble from the pain in her leg, leaving her helpless as the Wyvern flew up into the with Carla wrapped in its tail.
"L-let me…go! You stupid, annoying…cheap knockoff imitation! Reflection!" Carla said, struggling to break free from the Wyvern's tail.
When that failed, she cast another illusion, creating a mirror image of the Wyvern that began attacking the real one. Only to be shocked when the Wyvern didn't react to the illusion, as if it knew it was fake.
'It can see through the illusion?!' Carla thought, not expecting the Wyvern to start being able to tell what's real and what's not.
Before the Exceed screamed in pain when the Wyvern tightened it tails around her, only for it to then dive back towards the ground. Once it was close enough the Wyvern flipped around and released Carla, making her let out a gasp and silent scream as she smashed into the ground.
"Carla!" Screamed Wendy in fear, which only grew when she saw the Wyvern about to dive back down with its mouth open to eat her partner.
The sight terrifying Wendy as she struggled to get to her friend, only to grunt as she couldn't stand long before falling back down. Looking to see the Wyvern getting close and closer, Wendy also began feeling anger that it thought it could just eat her friend.
"N-No! Leave her alone now! Sky Dragon's Roar!" Wendy shouted, letting out tornado-like blast as she roared at the Wyvern, succeeding in knocking it out of the sky and crashing into the ground.
Though the Wyvern didn't stay down long as it got back up, roaring back at Wendy before charging at the bluenette instead, which is just what she wanted.
'J-just e-enough…Magic for…this…I really hope it works.' Wendy thought, knowing she needed to take the Wyvern down with her next attack or else she and Carla are both dead.
Before the Dragon Slayer gathered her remaining Magic along with having a large amount of wind begin swirling around her. Gritting her teeth as she forced herself to get up.
"O strengthen of arm to cleave the heavens! ARMS! O swift wind that dashes through the heavens! VERNIER!" Chanted Wendy, boosting her strength and speed as she lunged at the Wyvern.
"Sky Dragon's Spear Claw!" Wendy said, focusing the wind around her to her arm which thrust towards the Wyvern.
The sight made the Wyvern stop and quickly raise its wings to block the attack, only to screech in complete agony as Wendy's spell pierced right through its wings. Though it didn't stop there as the Dragon Slayer's Spear Claw ripped and tore through the Wyvern's chest. Until soon a blast of wind shot through the Wyvern's back as its body collapsed to the ground with a large hole in its chest and back.
With Wendy collapsing to the ground breathing heavily, looking at the three dead Wyverns around her, feeling some pride that she was able to beat them all.
"W-we…we…d-d-di-did…it…Carla…CARLA!" Said Wendy before shooting up and rushing over to her friend, ignoring the pain and exhaustion coursing through her body.
Falling to her knees beside the Exceed, Wendy held her hands over Carla's body and began using her Heal Spell, not caring how little Magic she had left as long as her friend was alright. Only feeling relief when she saw Carla start relaxing, before stopping.
'S-st-st-still…n-n-n-nee-n-ne-need t-to…have some…Magic for…the next…job.' Wendy thought while picking Carla up in her arms, wincing as she stood up before she began limping her way back to the village to tell the leader the Wyvern are dealt with.
*Later*
Wendy sighed as she collapsed into her seat on the train as it began heading to the next stop for her second Job at the hospital. Laying Carla down beside her, Wendy soon drifted off to sleep as her exhaustion finally caught up to her.
After arriving back in the village, the leader had been shocked to see she actually managed to defeat the Wyverns, but had been happy nonetheless and gave her the Job Reward. Along with offering the bluenette to stay the night to rest and recover. Only for Wendy to refuse since she still needed to head to the next town.
Leading to her boarding the train again, while asking the attendant to wake her up when they reached the next stop, not wanting to end up sleeping through the entire ride and miss her next destination.
The Dragon Slayer and Exceed stayed asleep as the train began moving, only for Carla to soon begin groaning as her eyes opened. Taking in her surroundings to see they were back on the train, along with feeling relieved when she saw Wendy beside her.
'She's alright, that means she was able to beat the last Wyvern…good, that's good.' Thought Carla, only to frown as she sat up and didn't feel as much pain as she thought she should, given what happened.
Realizing that Wendy must've healed her, making the Exceed look at her partner before sighing as she hopped down to the ground and began glowing as she turned into her human form.
The Exceed's human form was a thirteen-year-old girl, the same age as Wendy, with fair skin, long white hair that fell past her shoulders, and brown eyes. Along with having white cat ears on top of her head and a white cats tail with a ribbon on the end. With her attire consisting of a pale green dress shirt, a dark turquoise tie with a lighter turquoise cat pawprint on the bottom, a matching dark turquoise suit jacket with lighter turquoise trimming and the cuffs decorated with alternating dark and light triangles, a red pleated skirt, black leggings, and black Mary Jane shoes.
Sitting back down beside Wendy, Carla gently eased her down to lay Wendy's head on her lap, smiling slightly as she heard the bluenette sigh and snuggle into her as she began gently petting the Dragon Slayer's head.
'Oh Wendy, you're taking on so many responsibilities, so many burdens, just to help protect Fairy Tail. You're worrying so much about making sure everyone else is alright, that you aren't taking any time to worry about yourself.' Carla thought, hating how Wendy's barely taking care of herself, only resting the bare minimum when she isn't pushing herself during training or taking as many Job Requests as she could.
Before the transformed Exceed paused when her body began glowing and she unwillingly transformed back to her Exceed Form, making her sigh again. Knowing her Transformation Magic isn't perfect, so far she could only hold it for a few minutes before transforming back.
'But don't worry, I'll make sure to get stronger too. You're doing so much to take care of everyone else, it'll be my turn to take care of you, Wendy.' Thought Carla before pulling out her book on Transformation Magic from a Requip Space, so she can learn to extend how long she can be in her Human Form to where she can be in it indefinitely, without needing to focus.
Determined to grow stronger to better help Wendy and do everything she can to make sure she takes care of the Dragon Slayer.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see that Fairy Tail has begun falling onto hard times with the loss of the core members, with Macao being named the Fourth Master to try and handle everything to keep the guild afloat. Only for it to be difficult due to there being a rise in failures on jobs, which in turn leads to less Job Requests being sent to Fairy Tail.
But we see that Wendy and Carla are still able to finish their jobs they get, even taking on more than usual to help keep the guild afloat. While Wendy's also begun training even more, desiring to grow stronger to help her guild and so she never has to lose anyone again, and when she's not training then she's out on jobs. Leading to her only resting the bare minimum, much to Carla's concern with all the responsibilities Wendy's taking on.
Before we see them take a Wyvern Extermination Job and one to help at a hospital, worrying Carla more at such a dangerous mission, though Wendy assures her they'll be fine. With them getting ready and heading out to the village being attacked and then going to deal with the Wyverns.
Finally we see it proving to be a tough fight, given how strong Wyverns can be, even more so that there are three of them, but Wendy and Carla manage to defeat them in the end. Before they head out to the next town for the hospital job, with Carla also swearing to grow stronger to better help Wendy. So, for those that like the story, thanks for your support. For those that don't or at least don't like the direction taken, you're more than welcomed to drop the story. But thanks for giving the story a chance anyway.
Storm out
