Chapter 11 Ayano Aishi: Building an artificial body
Turns out that Homu chan had serious trouble, and was hurt by the loss of her sister. If this is what happens to people if family members die, the killing people is totally out of the question and should only ever considered in the direst and worst situations.
Homu chan invited me to the science club and asked me for a black and grey occult book I had. How did she know about it? Doesn´t matter. I would bring it to her the next day and we would read it together.
After class we went to the science club room and she explained to me the details of the construction, and Homu chan started making the Blueprints. Homu chan told me that she dreamed that her sister approved of the construction of an artificial body and that they talked a lot.
Homu chan would also buy a planchette herself to look at her sister.
It took a few days until the construction plans were ready and then we began with the construction of the artificial body itself. I saw that Homu chan looked through her newly bough planchette, whenever she was feeling sad, and then smiled and worked with renewed vigour. After several days the blueprints and the materials we both had bought were ready. I had told my parents that I wanted to craft robots and they let me buy the parts. The more expensive and complicated materials and parts for the artificial body were bought by Homu chan.
I told my parents that I had befriended Homu chan, who likes robots and that I wanted to help her craft robots. Father was glad that I made more friends, but mothers smile did not look quite right, it looked more like a glare. Ugh. I just told her that crafting robots would come in hand in the future and that satisfied her, now her smile was different. I that's for the better or the worse I don´t know…
I told Kuu chan and Midori chan that I could not come over to play video games with them for some time, because I needed to help Homu chan with building robots, and that time was of essence. They looked a bit disappointed, but accepted it.
By the way reading others people's faces and body language is really useful, even if some people don´t always show their true emotions on their face, their body language give away how they think about situations.
Weeks passed, Homu chan worked at her parts before school, during school breaks and the science club activity time and in the evening, I did the same for the easier parts and after many months we finally had the android body ready. The artificial mind was the hardest to make, which Homu chan did all herself. It also took the most time.
Now after several months we were ready. We prepared for the ritual and arranged all the needed materials.
There are four words that you shouldn´t say before a ritual "What could go wrong?.
We had prepared so thoroughly and with so many safety precautions, but is wasn´t entirely enough.
Nobody got injured but we unfortunately attracted unwanted attention.
We were in another room than the science club room where the other club members were (they did their own things and left us alone).
It was at afternoon after cleaning time. We had arrange all the lights, chemicals, prisms, energy sinks, had drawn all the circles and stripes needed and most importantly we had the fully constructed Artificial Body positioned in the middle of the magic circles ready. We began to chant the songs and moved in a certain pattern and then came the most important part. Homu chan took the kitchen knife and nicked her finger, and let the blood pour onto the Robot and said the spell words. At first nothing happened, but then time seemed to stand still, as suddenly a blinding flash of light erupted and a deafening explosion noise rang through the entire school. The everything went black.
When we came to us, luckily we still had all of our limbs attached and could still see and hear normally(The ringing in my ears went away quickly). This came in handy because that way we could see the Robot body move and stand up. Or should I say Maigo Kurusu? The ritual had succeeded! Despite the difficulties and risks! After all those months!
We were elated and hugged each other! This is what joy feels like! It took so long for it! I hope I can feel it as many times as possible! I want to feel like this forever!
Maigo Kurusu and Homu Kurusu talked to each other and thanked me profusely for my help, I said to them "No problem that´s what friends are for!"
Help for help, this is what father had told me.
We could not enjoy the moment for much longer because an angry teacher stormed into the room and wanted to shout at us, because of the all noise and light that we had accidentally made.
The words died right on her tongue, as she saw Maigo Kurusu and gasped loudly. Then she looked repeatedly at Homu Chan and Maigo chan, she paled and ran out of the room. We had accidentally scared her! We all just looked at each other in silence. What should we do now?
