Hi! I'm excited for doing this, this is my first story and my first time posting anything so I hope to do it right. This would be like a re-version of The Vampire Diaries, with a few small changes. I hope you enjoy it!
The characters and the plot are property of Julie Plec and the series team, I own the characters I created and the changes I made in the story.
Normal POV
"For over a century I have lived hidden in the shadows, of those who wanted to hurt me or worse, use me. Until that I decided to have a normal life. I am someone special. And this is my story. I knew the risks of coming home, but I also knew it was time to do it".
It was a beautiful day in September that seemed to be perfect. But Caroline felt that something weird was going to happen that day and she didn't know what to do. Call it instinct or exaggeration, maybe she was being a little bit dramatic or she was finally losing her mind and she was going to have a good first day of school that day. She left her house and got into her car, but she kept thinking that for years it had been a good idea to listen to her instincts, and they told her that today would be different.
Caroline had come to Mystic Falls a year ago and could say she had a good life, if she took away the fact that she lives alone and her only relative in town "hates" her for being vampire, but nothing was perfect. When she got to school, she got out of her car and entered while greeting some people, then she approached to greet Elena, who was talking to her friend Bonnie while saying hello with a smile, in her opinion, fake. She didn't blame her as some months ago she and her brother had lost their parents and she understood her even if she didn't want to.
-Hi Bonnie, hi Elena, how do you feel?- greeted Caroline when she got closer and could see the same smile again, and she had a feeling that the girl had already heard that many times that day.
-Hi Caroline, I'm really good. Thanks- Elena answered trying to seem nice to her greeting while Bonnie waved at her without interfering between them.
-Are you really okay?- replied the blonde a bit doubtful of her answer, but she understood that she didn't want to tell her anything since they weren't friends, they were just acquaintances and shared some classes.
-I'm really fine. Thanks for worrying- the brunette affirmed again with a sweet and somewhat tired tone, making her feel she was fed up with the subject.
-Okay, see you in class- Caroline said goodbye as she went to her locker and could hear how the girls preffered not to comment on her greeting and said that she was somewhat strange, which reminded her why she didn't like the older brunette.
When she got to her locker, she opened it to look for the books for her first class, but then that strange feeling she had in the morning came back stronger when someone passed behind her and she turned around, although she only saw a guy with a familiar aura, that only added to her confusion.
The guy who had passed behind Caroline, whom the girl had not seen, walked to the school office to complete his registration with the secretary. Elena and Bonnie were walking past the office when they saw his back, and they stared at him.
-Your file is incomplete. You are missing the vaccination card, and there are subjects that are not revalidated- the secretary clarified the guy. He took off his sunglasses and stared at her.
-See again. There is everything you need- he assured with a firm tone without stopping to look at the woman in the eyes. The woman looked down at the papers in her hands and reviewed them.
-You're right, here it is- reaffirmed the secretary and then continued with the paperwork.
Elena and Bonnie were still standing outside the office waiting to see the new guy. At one point Elena saw her younger brother Jeremy walk into the men's room, so she followed him and went inside. After berating him about his new drug addiction and assuring him that she would always be there to take care of him, Elena came out of the bathroom and nearly ran into the boy who had been in the school office up to that point.
After skipping history class for an unexpected call from the principal, Caroline went to say hello to her good friend Matt, who seemed somewhat serious and she wasn't much surprised for that.
-Hi Matt, how are you?- she wanted to know, happy to see him again after the summer since she had left town, and she wanted to know how he was doing for Elena. Shortly before the summer she had broken up with him, and the blonde girl had left town to relax those months, so she hadn't seen him all those days.
-Hi Caroline, I'm fine- assured the boy trying to convince her, which didn't work because of the girl's look, so Matt confessed it "Fine, I'm still a little sad, I thought we were going well. I didn't realize anything" he said as he looked away for a moment.
-I know, a break up is not easy and you two seemed fine, but you're not fine now- the blonde declared as she began to walk to her class and he followed her- Matt, you can't keep lamenting for her, stop thinking about Elena- continued irritated pulling a book from her bag.
-I know, but I have to understand. Her parents died and everything is difficult for her, I can't help but want to get closer and at the same time not want to. I don't want to be mean to her, I just need a little more time- he admitted with resignation at his friend's indignant face.
-That's not mean, it's just getting away because Elena hurt you, and all she is doing now is trying to talk to you as if nothing had happened- Caroline remarked feeling a bit sorry for him.
-You're a good friend Caroline, but I don't want you to be mean to her, everything will be fine. And thanks for your worry- the blonde guy thanked his friend, they had been friends since the previous year.
-Friends are there to take care of each other. Although I don't promise anything with her- the girl accepted making her friend laugh, which rubbed off to the blonde girl and they both went to their class.
After school finished, Elena went to the cemetery to her parents' grave and wrote her day in her diary. Then a crow appeared followed by mist, the brunette ran out when she saw a man standing behind a grave, that scared her. She ran and ended up falling due to misstepping, when Elena got up she ran into the new guy at school who had been watching her over in their history class and accused him of following her. Until she remembered that they were in a cemetery and she apologized to him and then introduced herself, while he introduced himself as Stefan.
They were chatting in a friendly and cheerful way until he, serious, asked her if she had hurt herself when she fell, confusing her. Elena checked herself and had a cut on her leg with a little blood, not realizing that Stefan's face had changed after seeing the blood. The guy then told her to go get cured and left her talking to herself.
Later that day, Elena was leaving her house to go to the Grill with Bonnie. She talked to her aunt Jenna and opened the door to find Stefan outside.
-Sorry, I was about to knock. I wanted to apologize for my disappearance before, I know it was weird- the older guy apologized smiling slightly, he didn't want that to happen.
-Don't worry, I get it. Blood makes you squeamish- Elena guessed smiling at him.
-Something like that. How is your leg?- he asked pointing to her leg.
-Oh I'm fine, it was just a scratch. And how did you know where I lived?- the brunette asked him, curious and a little worried for that. She'd only told him her name after all.
-It's a small town, I asked the first person I saw. I thought you might want this back- he replied, then took a green book from behind his back and gave it to her.
-I must have dropped it, thank you- she thanked surprised by his good deed, taking her diary.
-Don't worry, I didn't read it- the older one assured Elena, increasing her surprise a little more.
-No? Why not? Most people would've done it- the brunette insinuated as she smiled gratefully at him.
-Well, I wouldn't want anyone to read mine- Stefan argued, making the slight smile on Elena's face disappear and be replaced by surprise.
-You keep a journal?- she repeated while trying to hide her astonishment. It was weird to find a guy who kept a diary, or at least admitted it out loud to someone.
-Yes. If I don't write it down, I forget it. Memories are too important- Stefan calmly clarified her while they stared at each other, it was as if they understood each other.
-Yes, I'm going to...umm. You don't have to stay out there- Elena commented entering her house, the older guy tried to enter too but couldn't get past the door frame.
-I'm fine- the guy affirmed, looking up and down the frame when Elena returned and seemed to wonder why he didn't follow her inside- Sorry, were you going somewhere?- he asked hiding his nerves and avoiding the subject.
-Yeah, I'm meeting a friend. Do you want to come?- she invited him smiling slightly and he nodded.
After tidying up her house Caroline went to the Grill to meet Matt, but she kept thinking something was going to happen and she hated feeling paranoid. Upon arrival she approached Matt who was with Bonnie.
-Hey guys, what were you talking about?- she asked them curiously after ordering a drink. She'd tried not to use her enhanced vampire hearing to eavesdrop, but just hearing that it was about the boy and Elena, she already wanted to know what was going on.
-Hey Caroline, we were talking about Elena, and about the new guy- her male friend greeted her, who laughed at the blonde's confused face- You didn't know about that new guy at school?- he asked humorously.
-I was distracted with some things all day. But tell me- asked the blonde with curiosity.
-Well, a new guy arrived today, really hot by the way, and many girls may want to go out with him. If you want too, it wouldn't surprise me- Bonnie told the blonde girl, who she liked despite spending little time together. Although she always had a weird feeling when she was around her.
-I don't think so, for now I don't want to date anyone. It's not that I've had a bad relationship, but I don't want any of that right now- Caroline admitted, thinking for a moment about her most beautiful and longest relationship, which was a long time ago.
-Well, when you see him, I want to know your opinion- the young girl's voice brought the blonde out of her beautiful memory, while she drank from her glass and looked at her -In fact, there he is with Elena- Bonnie pointed behind her while Matt murmured ironic about giving his ex time.
Caroline, turning around and seeing the guy, couldn't help but choke and almost spit out thedrink, she was coughing as she turned around to avoid seeing the guy who was coming in with Elena. As she watched them the only thing she thought about was running out to breath to digest the surprise that her older brother Stefan, was in Mystic Falls. Her friends while looked at her worried.
-Hey Caroline, are you ok? What happened?- Matt asked concerned approaching the blonde, while Bonnie looked at both them and the newcomers.
-Eh nothing Matt, I just choked from drinking this too fast, that's all- the blonde girl lied a little nervous, although her friend thought that she was hiding something. She was a cheerful and somewhat controlling person but apart from that, she was someone focused and calm, so her reaction was strange.
-You don't look well, you are paler than usual. If you don't feel well I can take you home now- the guy offered trying to help his friend who seemed to want to get out of there, and thought that maybe she didn't want to say anything for Bonnie, since they weren't close.
-Don't worry, maybe something made me feel bad. I still think I'll go home to rest- said the blonde feeling bad for worrying her friend, that had been really weird and she understood Matt's surprise, but she couldn't help but get upset by seeing him- I better go, I have my car near here- despite his doubts, Matt let her go with the promise to let him know when she arrived and left, trying not to let Elena and Stefan see her leaving the place.
After saying goodbye to his blonde friend, Matt walked up to Elena and Stefan to introduce himself to him and say hi to both. Then Stefan introduced himself to Bonnie, and sit with her and Elena so they could talk.
-So you were born in Mystic Falls?- repeated Bonnie, she wanted to meet the new guy.
-Yeah, and moved when I was very young- replied Stefan following the story he had made.
-And your parents?- kept asking the young girl interested in Elena's new friend.
-My parents passed away- he revealed looking at her and then looked at Elena.
-I'm sorry. Any siblings?- asked the brunette feeling a little sorry for the guy, apart from feeling that she understood him since she was now in the same situation as him.
-We don't talk that much. I live with my uncle- he kept answering while smiling lightly to assure her that he was fine and she didn't have to worry.
-And Stefan, did you know about tomorrow's party? It's a back to school thing- Bonnie said sitting next to him to divert the topic to something more cheerful and friendly.
-Are you going?- asked Stefan smiling at Elena, who didn't answer as her friend intervened.
-Of course she is- she said sending glances at her friend, that smiled nervously while trying not to blush and put her hair behind her ear, under Stefan's gaze.
While in her car, Caroline had decided to park and walk to a park bench that was on the way to the Salvatore mansion. After managing to relax, she waited for a while for Stefan to come out of the Grill, assuming that he was going to take that path to return home. And she took the opportunity to think about the news that her brother was in town.
The truth was that she didn't know how to feel. On the one hand there was the fact that she had missed Stefan, she was happy to see him and spend time together. On the other hand, Stefan being around sometimes only brought problems since he almost always brought 'visitors' and things ended badly, and she had to intervene. Hearing a noise, she looked up and saw that Stefan was close to her.
-Stefan Salvatore, long time no see- she commented to make herself noticed by approaching him with her normal speed so she didn't scare him. When the older guy heard the voice he was startled, and when he turned around he was surprised to see his younger sister just a few meters from him.
-Caroline? But what are you doing here?- he asked her still surprised as he approached her excitedly with open arms to give her a hug, that the girl responded with pleasure. They hadn't seen each other in over 10 years.
-I should ask that Stefan, I arrived first- she replied with a little laugh while separating from her brother who laughed with her so she could see him well.
-I had no idea you were here, otherwise I would've visited you Care, you know I'm always glad to see you- affirmed Stefan keeping his smile at meeting her- But don't you live with Zach? I live there, that's why I thought I was alone- he asked confused when that doubt came to his head.
-I arrived in town last year, and I tried to live with Zach for at least 3 weeks.Although we got along I couldn't stand how much he controlled me with the blood, he even insisted that I drink little and I got tired- she told him with some irritation in her voice.
-Yes, with the blood thing and how one feeds Zach can be a bit insistent. The truth is that he doesn't bother me that much but I understand that you got tired. Where do you live then?- he agreed with her since their distant nephew could become a bit annoying with the blood.
-I live alone in a house in town, it's the perfect size and I don't have to worry about how I feed. Besides, he doesn't bother you because you drink animal blood- she admitted, remembering how her brother fed- Hey, how about I take you to the mansion since you're on foot?- she offered, looking around and then looking at him again.
-He still insists that I keep myself under control- added the older one, thinking that maybe it was good for her to live alone away from the human- And for your offer, let's go, so we can catch up- smiled Stefan and they went to the car. After arriving at the house they promised to see each other tomorrow at school.
The next day, Stefan was sitting in the history class that he shared with Elena, Bonnie, Matt and Caroline, who was away again for a meeting with the principal since she was helping with the organization of a game in a few days. He saw that Professor Tanner was talking to Elena about her parents so he decided to step in to help her.
-There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians- the vampire replied confidently.
-That's correct, Mister...?- affirmed the teacher pointing at Stefan who told him his last name- Salvatore? We already have another Salvatore in the class. Are you also related to the original settlers of Mystic Falls?- he asked interested in the answer since he already had a student with that last name.
-Distant- lied knowing he was referring to his sister, only she knew the truth about the battle.
-Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle- Mr Tanner clarified him about the battle of Willow Creek, then turned around and approached his desk.
-Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner- Stefan corrected, staring at the man, surprising him and the rest of the class.
After the class, Caroline met with her brother because he wanted to talk to her about the animal attacks, since their nephew Zach believed one of them was to blame as they were the only vampires in town, and she was more suspicious for drinking human blood. She couldn't help but get angry because she wasn't guilty of anything, and promised him they would investigate the attacks.
At night, Stefan and Caroline met at the party located in the woods, they drank together while talking and having a lot of fun. A while later Stefan walked away to talk alone with Elena, but his sister prevented him from doing so as she wanted to talk to him. At finding the perfect moment he took advantage of it and approached the brunette.
He managed to talk to Elena a little about him being the new topic of conversation in town, but he added that she also had a mysterious air about her, just like him. Feeling confident with Stefan, Elena told him that a few months ago her parents had died in a car accident while she had been saved, maybe that was why she seemed sad, and to try to make her feel better the older guy assured her that she wouldn't feel sad forever.
Then they got to talking about Bonnie, Elena's best friend, and Matt. She told him that she had dated Matt because they were lifelong friends and she wanted to see what happened between them, but after her parents' accident everything had changed for her and she'd broken up with him, besides she believed there was no passion between them. Stefan was about to say something but his eyes changed, so he turned away from her. Stefan went to another part of the party to start breathing and calm down, when he turned around he saw Caroline walking towards him.
-I'm not surprised that you want to talk to Elena, I mean, because of Katherine. But I'd think better of it if I were you, I don't think she woud suit you- his sister warned him seriously, he couldn't help feeling confused and a little tired by the girl's comments.
-Caroline, I appreciate your concern, but I'm capable of making my own decisions, I know what I'm doing- Stefan replied defensively, pero the girl wanted to continue.
-Look, I'm not saying that you don't know how to make decisions, but the best thing would be to stay away from her, she's only going to bring you trouble. You could look for someone normal- suggested the blonde, tired of how stubborn her brother was about that girl. Caroline didn't see anything special in her and didn't like her very much, besides she didn't want to see her brother hurt again by someone like her, literally.
-I don't want us to fight, okay? I'm just going to make my own decisions, I don't want you to tell me what to do- said Stefan irritated by his sister's attitude. He loved the young one very much and he knew she wouldn't like him talking to the brunette girl, but he wanted to meet Elena.
-Stef, I don't want a repeat of the other time. Maybe the best thing you could do...- she started to say with a small smile, the Katherine thing had been difficult for everyone and she wanted to take care of him, mostly because he wanted to get close to the copy of his ex. But the older one interrupted her.
-Caroline, I don't want you to tell me what to do. I don't want to fight with you but I know what I'm doing. I'm sorry- apologized Stefan walking away from her ending the talk with his sister, who was surprised and very irritated with the vampire.
-Fine, but you wish I didn't say to your face 'I told you so' if you end up hurt- replied the blonde knowing that the guy heard her, that was her intention. Then Stefan, angry about the argument with the young girl, approached Elena while Caroline listened to everything.
-Hey, I was wondering who held you back but now I know- greeted Elena when he approached her, and tried to relax talking with her, but he didn't want to keep talking about the blonde girl.
-Yeah, she can be a bit intense but it's okay- said the guy trying to distract himself, although he felt Caroline's gaze on the back of his neck, who was surely spying on them.
-Don't worry, you're fresh meat. She'll back off eventually- affirmed the brunette believing that her classmate was just flirting with Stefan, she wouldn't be surprised if she did, besides she didn'tremember the last name of said blonde.
-What do you mean? Caroline didn't do anything- Stefan defended the young girl, he knew her very well and didn't think she flirted so often as to have that reputation, also he believed that since Caroline was her classmate Elena already knew that they were siblings.
-Really? I thought she would, maybe you didn't notice- she hinted confused. She didn't know her very well but seeing her with guys and how she had flirted with Matt when she first met him she thought she would do it.
-Are you trying to call her flirtatious? Caroline is not like that- Stefan questioned firmly, the brunette was talking about his sister and he could only defend her. Elema seemed puzzled by Stefan's reaction, she didn't understand why he was acting like that for a girl he barely knew.
-She seems a little flirtatious, but why do you say that if you barely know her?- asked the younger girl making her doubts evident, it became clear to the guy that she didn't know about his relationship with the blonde girl, and that Elena had earned the anger and hatred of his sister who had heard everything.
-In fact I know Caroline very well. We're siblings, she's my younger sister- he confessed, he saw how her face turned pale and it was not for less, if she had practically called Caroline a bitch in front of her brother. The girl was about to apologize to him when a scandal near them distracted them, so they went to see what the problem was.
After discovering that Matt's sister, Vicki, had been found with a bite mark on her neck, Stefan returned to his house and told Zach another attack had occurred but neither he nor Caroline had done it. He went to his room and a crow entered the place, which answered his doubts.
-Damon- Stefan declared, looking seriously towards the balcony, where a man was standing.
-Hello brother- greeted the older man looking at him with a mischievous sideways grin.
-Crow's a bit much, don't you think?- hinted the young guy watching Damon check his desk.
-Wait till you see what I can do with the fog- he added, barely looking up at him.
-When did you get here?- he asked without showing any emotion, although he was already irritated.
-Well, I couldn't miss your first day at school. Your hair's different, I like it- the older man commented with a small smile as he walked around his room.
-It's been 15 years Damon- remarked, still looking at him with suspicion because of his appearance.
-Thank God. I couldn't take another day of the 90s. That horrible grunge look did not suit you. Remember Stefan, it's important to stay away from fads- he continued to say as he walked and dodged the subject.
-Why are you here?- questioned the younger vampire as he got straight to the point.
-I missed my little brother. And it seems my little sister is here too, isn't that nice?- he excused himself looking at the other as if he was offended, but Stefan didn't believe any of it.
-You hate small towns, it's boring. There's nothing for you to do- he reminded him in disbelief, and realizing that his brother revealed that he had been spying on Caroline, and perhaps on him too.
-I've managed to keep myself busy- the guy commented matter-of-factly as he smiled sideways.
-You know, you left that girl alive. That is very clumsy of you- he clarified annoyed by his answers.
-That can be a problem, for you- he replied turning around to see him and smiled mischievously.
-Why are you here now?- Stefan repeated irritated with his brother's presence. He knew the older one was only going to cause him trouble, that's what he always did when he followed him somewhere.
-I could ask you the same question. However, I'm fairly certain your answer can be summed up all into one little word. Elena- Damon revealed walking up to stand in front of him and finished with a little wicked smile, that worried Stefan although he tried not to show it.
Bonnie was in the woods with Elena, commenting to her that she'd be going to the Grill while they waited to hear about Vicki. Although she tried to forget about it, Bonnie revealed to Elena that with the vision she had had earlier, about a man surrounded by fog and a crow, there was also something more. Bonnie had gotten the feeling that it was just the beginning, confusing Elena.
-She took my breath away. Elena, she's a dead finger for Katherine. Is it working, Stefan? Being around her, being in her world? Does it make you feel alive?- Damon asked smirking as he looked at his brother. He knew it must be weird to be with her, and all he could think about was the brunette girl.
-She's not Katherine- Stefan assured without appearing upset by the older's statements.
-Well, let's hope not. We both know how that ended. Tell me something. When's the last time you had something stronger than a squirrel?- he wanted to know while coming closer to be face to face again.
-I know what you are doing Damon, and it's not going to work- he said, smiling slightly to reassure him that he was fine. But he didn't expect the older one to hit his arm.
-Come on, don't you crave a little?- Damon began to say, tapping him on the shoulder and walking toward him, who was backing away- Let's do it together, I saw a couple girls out there. Or let's cut to the chase, let's just go straight for Elena- he insinuated hitting him on the head to provoke him.
-Stop it!- Stefan angrily ordered him while pushing him away from him.
-Imagine what her blood tastes like- Damon provoked him seeing that the veins under his eyes were trying to appear- I can- he declared smiling at him again with an evil smile to annoy him.
-I said stop!- shouted the younger one feeling his vampiric features appear on his face for the anger and he quickly approached Damon pushing him through the window and they ended up in the garden. But when Stefan got up he saw that his brother had disappeared and appeared a few meters away from him.
-I was impressed. I give it a six, missing style. But I was pleasantly surprised- Damon mockingly commented to him as he watched him get up- Very good with the whole face thing, it was good- he sneered at his vampire face and tried not to laugh, he missed teasing his brother.
-It's all fun and games for you, right Damon? But wherever you go, people die. But not here, I won't allow it- replied the younger vampire walking towards him, very angry at his actions.
-I take that as an invitation- the vampire provoked wiping away the smile at his 'warning'. He didn't like him saying that to him, especially since he was stronger than his little brother.
-Damon, please. After all these years, can't we just give it a rest?- asked the younger, tired of all the fighting between them. They had been at each other's throats for years and he was tired of being like that.
-I promised you an eternity of misery, I'm just keeping my word- he excused himself not showing any kind of emotion at his little brother's request, he wasn't going to stop as he was furious.
-Just stay away from Elena- Stefan declared angrily. He couldn't believe he was going on about it.
-Where's your ring?- Damon asked him suddenly looking at Stefan's finger, who looked evenly and saw that the ring that allowed him to go out in the sun was missing -The sun's coming up in a couple of hours, and poof, ashes to ashes. Relax, it's right here- he revealed with a smile and walked towards him giving him the ring, having managed to see his worried face. He really liked to bother him.
Stefan looked at his brother for a moment, who was still on a mission to ruin his life every chance he got, pointless mission he must say since it had been a long time and he was still obsessed with it. He took the ring and put it on, then Damon showed him his vampiric face, grabbed him by the neck and then threw him to the garage door, where he hit and fell to the ground rolling until he ended up at the feet of the older one.
-You should know better than to think that you're stronger than me. You lost that fight when you stopped feeding on people. I wouldn't try it again- warned the vampire seeing him standing with superiority while Stefan was sore on the floor, then he looked towards the house and smiled- I think we woke Zach up, sorry Zach- he clarified and left the younger vampire there.
Caroline was a little drunk despite her high tolerance and was furious with Elena. Not only was she judging her for what she was doing without knowing her well, but she was insulting her in front of Stefan whom she hadn't seen in a long time and that annoyed her even more. She thought about going home to vent her anger, but after a while she went to the Grill with Bonnie to see if she could relax.
-How do you feel?- asked Bonnie after both of them had a coffee, Caroline looked a liitle sad and hoped she would tell her why, but the blonde didn't want to talk about it.
-Do you want a lie? I'm perfect- she joked, smiling falsely- But the truth? I just want to go home- she mumbled while looking downcast, showing her that she was unwell and moving her cup.
-Drink a little more and I can take you home, then I will go home too- Bonnie tried to comfort her, although she didn't know what to do to make her feel better, she didn't know what to tell her.
-Do I seem like a good person to you Bonnie? Someone you would listen to if I ever gave you advice for your own good?- asked Caroline suddenly, confusing the girl even more. She didn't understand what she was talking about, or if it was some kind of depression due to alcohol.
-Eh, I suppose, but what do you mean?- wanted to know the brunette trying to understand what she was trying to tell her, but her answer only confused her more.
-I know that sometimes I'm mean and impulsive and that sometimes I'm complicated, but that doesn't mean that I am belittled when I try to do something good or thought to be dramatic for giving advice. But no one understands me, no one understands what I live or I do. They only see me as useful to a certain extent. I wish someone would listen to me, understand me or least see what I'm capable of- revealed Caroline trying to express the frustration she felt years ago, her talk with Stefan only made her feel that since a long time almost no one took her into account.
-Things aren't really like that Caroline, maybe it's just the alcohol talking- tried to suggest her Bonnie with the first thing that came to her mind, maybe the blonde was just talking gibberish.
-They are Bonnie, you have no idea how much- assured the blonde ending the conversation while the younger girl went to pay for their drinks. Caroline leaned her forehead on the table trying to feel better, but then she felt someone was looking at her and she turned her gaze up, which was a little blurry. The blonde felt a shock and that she paled as she thought she was seeing her other older brother, Damon, sitting near her with his typical mischievous grin. As she rubbed her eyes the guy was gone so she looked around and turned to Bonnie.
-Bonnie, did you see the guy who was sitting there?- she nervously asked her friend who had returned to the table, but when she denied having seen anyone, the girl decided to go home resigned and thinking she was seeing things. Maybe the next day she could ask Stefan if Damon was in town, though she felt he already was and was just toying with her.
Elena was in her room writing in her diary about wanting to change and get over everything that had happened to her, when she looked out her window and found Stefan so she went downstairs and opened the door.
-Before you say anything, I wanted to apologize for what I said about Caroline. I assumed things about her and it was wrong, I didn't mean to insult her in front of you- started to apologize Elena before the guy could say anything, he smiled at her to try to calm her down.
-Relax, you didn't know we are family. And I guess you two don't have a good relationship- suggested the older guy, although he knew it was true because his sister couldn't be her friend because of her appearance- I know it's late, but I needed to know you were ok- he clarified erasing his smile.
-You know, for months that's all anyone's wondered about me. If I'll be ok- she commented somewhat seriously.
-What do you tell them?- he asked her, interested in her answer as he stared at her.
-That I'll be fine- replied the brunette girl with a tired and resigned tone.
-And do you ever mean it?- the vampire wanted to know, leaving her wondering what to say to him.
-Ask me tomorrow. It's cold, let's talk inside. Do you want to come in?- she invited him moving a little to one side to let him pass, Stefan nodded smiling again at her and they entered the house.
After arriving home and feeling the comfort of the place, Caroline wanted to feel this good, but with the emotions she was feeling at that moment plus the alcohol she just wanted to explode and destroy anything. So she decided to break free and let out a scream.
-First I have to deal with that idiot Zach blaming me for the attacks when in all the year I have lived here, nothing has happened- she said aloud throwing her bag on the sofa hard and walked around her home, seeing what she could destroy. She fixed her gaze on an empty glass vase.
-Then, one of my brothers treats me like a bossy drama queen for wanting to protect him from the copy- she began to raise her voice. She raised her hand towards the vase and levitated it, then moved the hand to a wall violently, causing the object to go evenly and end up on the floor totally destroyed after hitting the wall.
-And then I have my other brother following me, does he want to make me paranoid? They barely arrived in town and they already upset me- she exclaimed more annoyed than before. She approached one of her plants and raised her clenched fist towards it, the poor plant burned quickly until it ended up with black branches and a couple of dry leaves.
When she finished she closed her eyes and did breathing exercises to try to calm down. When Caroline finally did she walked slowly to the vase, her first victim, which with just a wave of her hand ended up as good as new in its place. Then, she approached the plant and murmured a couple of words causing the plant to slowly revive until its leaves turned green.
-Calm down Caroline- she said to herself in a low voice- Just breath and remember, your magic acts involuntarily according to how you feel, so just relax- she kept saying trying to make herself feel better, and after some minutes it worked.
Anyone would think that being a hybrid was difficult, but with some practice and control it could be easy. It was true that sometimes being a witch and vampire hybrid could complicate life, but Caroline had learnt to take advantage of all the advantages she had. She had it under control since she had been a hybrid, or heretic like she preferred to call herself, for over a century and she really loved being one. But not everything was joy and fun in her life.
Caroline loved her abilities, she held her family name high and kept the magic of her bloodline alive, but all good things came with some responsibility and sometimes it was hard to be a heretic because of everything that had happened to her. Although she loved her nature, it was amazing to be able to do anything with her abilities and her presentiments helped her a lot.
-I wish people would take me into account and that in my life everything would finally be the way that I want it to be- Caroline murmured, looking at the moon from her room very thoughtfully and lay down on her bed, hoping that the next day would be quiet. But, with the arrival of her older brothers anything could happen during the next few days, or maybe months.
And that's it! I hope you liked it, I worked really hard to do this. I reread and edited this some times until I thought it was good, I tried to put every scene important for the plot along with some new ones for the story. I didn't have any beta so sorry if there's any mistake or something is not understandable, also any response or review is welcome and thanked!
Please tell me if you have any question about this, I intend on uploading a new chapter soon. And to do something a bit different, I decided to leave the summary of the next chapter. See you!
