01: Trapped in the wrong Childrens' Isekai!

"I mean… It's neat and all. But also, kinda pricy looking. Maybe we should just return it before anyone notices?" Anne suggests nervously as she looks between her two friends and the frog-themed, gilded music box in her hands. Understandably, she was worried that what she had just lifted was something someone might miss enough to press charges over. Though, what was really stress inducing was the look she was imagining on her parents faces if she were brought home with a police escort.

"Oh, relax, Anne!" The taller blonde exclaimed in annoyance. Sasha was getting tired of Anne reluctance towards all her birthday ideas. What's so wrong with wanting her friend to have the best thirteenth birthday ever, huh? "Besides, if it was worth anything, it wouldn't be collecting dust in a thrift store." She continued with a shrug.

"I guess…" Anne relented as she looked down to the gilded box, the three distinct gems atop its lid almost glowing, even with how dark it's gotten already. Something about the box just screamed "important." But Anne just wasn't sure why. Though, perhaps it was just the tinge of guilt she was feeling.

"Well, it is supposed to be Anne's gift, right?" The normally distracted Marcy Wu says as she steps towards Anne, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. "If she really doesn't like it, then we can just return it." These words certainly brought Anne some relief, offering the Taiwanese girl a small smile. Sasha, on the other hand just rolls her eyes with an annoyed grunt. "But first, how about we open it up?" Marcy then suggests, getting a raised brow from the other two girls. With an awkward little chuckle, Marcy goes on. "I mean, you won't really know if you like it or not till ya see the inside and give it a listen, right? Anna-Banana?" She suggests as her other hand raises to scratch the back of her head anxiously.

"Mar-Mar's right. You should totally give it a once over before you just go on and return it." Sasha weighs in as she makes way to Anne's side, opposite to Marcy. "Come on, if you really don't like it, me and Marcy will take it back ourselves while you go meet up with your folks." She says as she nudges Anne's side playfully with her elbow.

Stifling the urge to sigh at this, Anne gives in and smiles to her friends. "Kay. But just a quick once over." She insists before her gaze moves back to the box in her hand, lifting it up higher as she begins tilting it around to inspect. Marcy, having let go of Anne's shoulder at this point, seems to get a bit antsy. "C-Come on! Just open it!" She pleas before covering her mouth, getting a raised brow from the other two girls once more.

She breathes in deeply to calm herself down before raising her hands and shrugging as she tries to downplay that little outburst. "We're just running low on time, right?" She asks as Anne nods, lowering the box a bit. Huddled together as they stare down at the box, the three girls feeling a bit anxious for some reason. Like, once this box is open, something irreversible will happen.

A loud boom cracks through the air, thunder bellowing out suddenly. The air was so calm just a moment ago, but now wind was rushing through the old playground the three girls had convened at. As the only one not wearing a sweater or jacket, Anne shivers thanks to the sudden cold turn the air had taken. Sasha and Marcy seem to instinctually press in against either side of the Thai girl to help keep her warm. Getting a little chuckle out of the birthday girl. The taller blonde looking up and squinting at the darkening sky. "Maybe we should just call it here? Getting a lil' stormy."

"A-After opening the box!" Marcy insists, placing a hand on one of Anne's own. "Just a quick peek and that's it." Getting a scoff from Sasha. "A peek? What're you expecting to find, Mar-Mar? Some special edition of Frogger?" She teased before feeling her phone vibrate in her pocket. In fact, all of their phones were going off. Distorted versions of their ringtones blaring out. "That's super weird." The blonde comments before shaking her head and glancing over to Marcy. "We should just call it. It's getting cold and all freaky. Besides, seems all of us suddenly have curfew." She says adamantly before reaching for her phone and answering it, only to hear nothing but white noise. "What the heck?!" She gasps out as her gaze turns into a glare. "Okay, yeah, no. I'm ending this." The blonde states firmly as she then reaches towards the box in Anne's hands. Only for Marcy's own hand to suddenly leave Anne's and shoot towards Sasha's, slapping it away.

Both Sasha and Anne let out shocked gasps at this, flabbergasted by the out of character boldness from the Taiwanese girl. Marcy's left frozen in dread as she realizes what she just did. Sure, her hand had barely stung the blonde. But Sasha's scowl was now focused on poor Marcy. "What the heck was that, Wu!?" She barks out as she stomps around Anne, towards the Taiwanese teen who was now defensively raising her hands. "Okay. Big mistake. But- I. Um…" Marcy trails off as she really doesn't have a good excuse for what she had just done.

Dreading any further escalation, Anne hurriedly opens the back. Waving it about. "Hey! Look! Box is open! What do you know? An ordinary music box! No need to throw hands! Let's call it a day and go back to being besties in the morning!" She says quickly as she waves the opened box around. Seeing the empty box swung about like this, Marcy's expression seems to deflate. Causing Anne to stop waving it around, confused by Marcy's odd behavior. Sasha on the other hand, was satisfied. Letting out an annoyed "Whateves" as she steps away from Marcy.

Anne walks over to Marcy, taking hold of one of Marcy's hands with her free hand. "Hey. What's wrong, Mar-Mar?" She asks softly, even as the wind seems to kick up a notch. To Sasha's dismay. "N-Nothing. Sorry. I just thought it'd be something special. Ya know, cause it's your birthday and all." She stutters out, her eyes shimmering a bit, as though tears were threatening to form. Which didn't really sell her explanation to Anne. But the Thai girl didn't push it. "Hey, it's still a cool box." She tries to reassure her.

"Uh, guys?" Sasha speaks up, staring at an odd, glowing vortex forming above them in the stormy sky. Swirls of light radiating out of the center of the unknown singularity. The white noise coming from Sasha's phone was now emanating from the phones of the other girls too. Now distorted further, a rhythm almost cutting through the static. Like some weird, corrupted techno. Too busy looking to the distorted sky and listening to the odd, staticky beat coming off their phones. None of the girls noticed the gems atop the opened lid of the music box begin glowing brightly.

"Look out!" Sasha shouted as she suddenly tackled Anne and Marcy to the sandy ground below, three beams of light that had been swirling within the vortex had just launched themselves towards the three girls. The blonde acting without thinking to protect her friends. Aside from some scrapes, Anne catching a finger between the music box's lid and frame, and landing on her backpack. The girls were unharmed. All three soon looking towards the points of impact, mere inches from their feet as they lay there, processing just what was happening around them. Three lights rise out of the small craters at there feet, blue, pink, and green.

Naturally, Anne and Sasha were cautiously staring at the floating, glowing… whatever they were. Marcy on the other hand, well… "O.M.G!" She exclaims excitedly, nearly squealing like she had just found some new game that she didn't even know was out yet. Bouncing to her feet and reaching out to the glowing green object hovering in front of her. Taking it in hand without any hesitation. "Marcy, no!" Anne calls out, instantly going into "save Marcy from herself mode", scrambling to her feet and dropping the glowing music box. "Marcy, drop it! It might be hot, or radioactive or something!" She says like someone talking to a dog that had just picked up something dubious. Reaching over to try and pry it out of Marcy's hands, to which the Taiwanese teen resists, yanking her hands away with her prize. "Nuh-uh! It's fine! See?" She insists as she then parts her hands, holding the bizarre object out for Anne to see. Some small, green device with a few buttons and a square screen in the middle. "I think it's, like, a virtual pet thing." She says as Anne seems to relax, seeing as it did just look like a toy and Marcy wasn't in pain or glowing.

"That's it? That big light show for some retro toy?" Anne asks out loud, just flabbergasted as she then turns her gaze towards the glowing blue device that had been hovering before her feet earlier. Emboldened by Marcy, she reaches out and takes the device into her hand. The glow fading in her palm, revealing that her own toy-thing was blue, like it's earlier glow.

While Anne and Marcy fidget with the buttons on their finds, Sasha just stares at them, mouth agape as she just doesn't believe the two were being so casual about what had just happened. Though, feeling left out, she huffs before getting back to her feet. "Why would you two be so interested in something so, like, boomerish." She jabs as she glances between the two girls and the glowing pink object still hovering before her. "Come on, Sash." Marcy responds playfully as she tries to get the device in her hands to work. "Retro games can be super cool!" She excitedly claims, before rubbing her chin. "Now, just gotta figure out how to turn it on. Maybe it needs new batteries?" She begins mumbling to herself, the blonde rolling her eyes at this.

"Okay, but if this thing literally rots my brain, I'm blaming you two." Sasha relents as she then grabs her own toy, the glow of which dies down to reveal that, like Anne's and Marcy's own, the color of it's casing matched it's former glow. Pink. "Hey. Isn't it weird how these things match the gems on the music box?" Sasha asked while glancing over her shoulder to the other two girls. Her observation getting the two to look up from their devices, looking at each other like "Huh, that is weird". Marcy then opened her mouth, probably to offer some form of explanation before said music box began playing a melody. Much softer, more harmonious than the distorted techno beat that was still playing over their phones.

But, before any of them could question this, there was a flash of light. The three girls screaming as they're suddenly enveloped by light and colors. Next thing they knew, they were falling. Not towards ground but falling through worlds. The screaming trio were spiraling through entire planes of existence, minds barely able to comprehend some of the images that flashed before their eyes. Their limbs flailing about wildly. If it weren't for the weird sense of weightlessness they felt, their arms and legs would have been torn from their sockets already. Anne tried to keep her eyes locked on her friends, desperately hoping to not lose track of them. Like if she did, they'd be lost to the void between time and space. Unfortunately, she couldn't keep her eyes open. Everything was just too much for her. She blacked out.

"Anne?" A voice calls out from the pitch-black void. Oh no, wait, her eyes were just closed. But boy, were they heavy. Her head was pounding, like she'd just taken a punch from some giant alien mech. Oh, well, that was oddly specific. At least her ears weren't ringing. That would have made the constant calling of her name even more annoying. "Anne? Anna-Banana? Anna bo-banna Banana fanna fo-fanna?" Groggily, she does her best to open her eyes, groaning out in pain and annoyance. She can see a blurry face, shades of blue and white. Big red eyes. Wait, big red eyes? That doesn't seem right. When her vision finally clears, her eyes go as wide as dinner plates. First of all, the face she had been seeing was upside down. As whatever that thing was, it was bent over her head to stare right back at her. "Hi!" The little blue and white, pointy-eared thing said gleefully, waving its little blue nubby hands down at her.

Completely confused, Anne screamed and fumbled her way towards the nearest tree, clinging to the base of its trunk while reaching into her backpack and swiftly retrieving her tennis racket, pointing it at the odd but adorable creature hopping on after her. "Wh-Who are you and where are my friends!" She shakily demanded, threateningly keeping her racket trained on the creature.

To which the little guy stops and tries to think up an answer, only to give up within the same moment. "No idea where your friends are. Well, except me of course! But I'm DemiVeemon!" The little guy announces proudly, one of his little nubs held over where his heart should be. "Uh, we're not friends, little dude. I don't even know you." She says with a shrug, offering him an apologetic smile. Though, he seems to take offense, huffing and pouting, his little nubs crossed over his chest. "I just said who I was! I'm DemiVeemon! And I'm your friend!" He insists in a childish manner.

This gets an amused giggle out of her, the Thai girl lowering her racket. "Really? Cause I think I'd know if I were friends with an adorable and highly marketable thing like you." This comment gets his normally pale white cheeks to flare up, the little guy holding his nubs together as he kicks at the ground idly with one foot as the other balances his little frame. "Aw, I don't know what you mean by marketable, but it makes me feel all fuzzy and junk." He sighs out before backtracking to the part where she said she didn't know him. Putting him back in a mildly offended mood. "Oh yeah!? Well, I know you, Anne Boonchuy!" He exclaims loudly, making her raise that racket once again. Not because he was yelling, but because it was kinda creepy that he knew her name already.

"And, just how do you know me, but I don't know you? Huh?" She asks accusingly. "You one of them creepy internet stalkers my dad warned me about?" To which the adorable, plushie-like thing frowns. "I don't know what an "internet" is, but I know what a stalker is. And I ain't one!" He insists, looking down at his feet. "I don't know how. But I've always known your face and name. Ever since I hatched as a little baby Chibomon. I knew Anne Boonchuy." He explains, rather disheartened that their first meeting wasn't going so well.

"Anne Boonchuy is the bestest friend I've been waiting my whole life for!" He exclaims, looking at her, offering her an innocent smile, even as he seems to fight back tears. "Cause Anne Boonchuy is the most awesomist, kindest, most reliable person in the whole wide world! And, as long as we stick together, everything we do will go our way!" He confidently asserts as he reaches forward with his nubby hands, taking hold of the end of the racket she had kept trained on him. Gazing up at her with em big ol' red eyes.

Now, it was Anne's turn to fight back the tears forming in her eyes. It was weirdly touching to hear this sort of genuine, childish, total adoration directed at herself. Lowering her racket, she looks away as she chuckles sheepishly, "I'm not sure you've got the right Anne Boonchuy, heh." Though, this gets the little blue guy to hop on over into her line of sight again, gazing up at her in pure adoration. "Nope, you're the right Anne Boonchuy, alright!" He exclaims excitedly before suddenly jumping towards her, ignoring personal space as he attempts to hug her with his little nubby arms. Though, instead of swatting him away, the Thai girl wraps her arms around the little guy, squeezing him softly as she fights back some sniffles.

After a bit, DemiVeemon suddenly pops out of her arms, breaking the hug. "Oh! Wait! I forgot; I have something I've been waiting to give you!" He exclaims with a bright smile. "Oh? And what's that?" Anne asks before the little blue buy shakes his head. "No! It's a surprise!" She insists before turning away, making a few hops away from Anne before looking back. "Just stay here while I go get it. My cave ain't too far." He says before hopping off, leaving Anne wondering whether he meant a literal cave or not.

Though, it takes the plush-like creature sometime. As traveling with such little legs is a bit of a hassle. Even if he hopped around like a kangaroo. So, while waiting, she decides that walking around this little spot in the odd, colorful woods was fine. Besides, she had her racket, she'll just swat at anything that might try something. On her little stroll, she stumbles upon something she had forgotten about. Quite literally stumbling, as she trips over it. With an "oof" and a grunt, she picks herself up, one of her shoes slipping off of her foot, as it was caught on whatever she had just tripped over. Using a tree as support, she hops on one foot as she turns to see just what she had been knocked over by, letting out a gasp as she sees the glittering box from before. "You!" She exclaims almost angrily before hopping over to the box, kneeling as she reaches to pry it out from the ground it seemed embedded into. "What're you doing here!" She says between grunts as she attempts to pull the box out, exerting herself quite a bit. Not only was it stuck in the ground, but somehow a green root from the tree she was currently leaning against was holding it in place. As though it had somehow grown over the music box during the short time she had been here. Wherever here is.

Eventually, DemiVeemon was hopping on back to the spot he had left Anne at, his prize in hand. Well, small, nubby hands. And barely kept from dragging along the ground, thanks to his size. "Anne! I'm back!" He calls out joyfully, excited to give her what he had been saving for so long. Only for him to stop his hops, eyes widening as he sees Anne running right at him. Racket in one hand, a gilded box in the other as she frantically runs his way. Her hair now a mess of leaves and twigs. "Not a tree! NOT A TREE!" She cries out in warning as she runs past him, the sound of something buzzing growing louder and louder. The trees shaken by the powerful gusts of wind made by whatever had been chasing Anne. Till it burst through the treeline, giant, scythe-like appendages slicing through the trees. "AH! Snimon!" DemiVeemon cries out in terror, turning to jolt after Anne as the giant, preying mantis-like creature chases after them. Hovering just above the ground thanks to it's rapidly beating wings, slicing apart any trees that get in it's way.

Anne then let out a sharp yelp as she feels something sharp dig into the sole of her right foot, the one currently missing a yellow sneaker. This causes her to fall over, rolling to her side as she descends. On the ground, she can see just what had happened. She stepped on a thorny vine, one of many. Some of which, were now digging into her side. "Ow! Help! Nature's trying to kill me!" She exclaims dramatically as DemiVeemon hops to her side, nudging at her to try and encourage her to get back up as soon as possible. "Anne, ya gotta get up! This guy will literally eat us for breakfast!" He says as the beast descends upon them, the landing of it's four green, clawed feet making the ground shake. Anne and her new blue friend gawking up at the insectoid currently sizing them up as a snack. It's mandibles chittering as it hisses down at them, drool dripping down from its maw.

One of its scythe-like arms swings down at them, slicing into the forest floor menacingly. Why didn't it just slice at them instead? Well, some predators just like to play with their food first. Being a cat owner, Anne lets out an annoyed groan, recognizing the false swipe for what it is. She then points her racket at the giant bug, as though it'd protect her from a monster-sized mantis with literal scythes for hands. "Listen, you don't want to eat me, dude! I'm a teenage girl, I probably taste like artificial flavoring and angst!" She argues, as though her words would deter the predatory monster-bug. Unsurprisingly, it just lets out another hiss and growl before making another false swipe at them.

It's play-swipes kicking up more dirt, the two little morsels cowering before it, shielding their eyes from the flying dirt. "Sheesh, you're nothing but a big bully, huh!?" DemiVeemon accuses as the insectoid continues to play with its food. The normally adorable little guy now gritting his teeth. Suddenly, DemiVeemon begins bouncing about at blinding speeds, his body almost glowing as he hops between the ground and trees. Leaving Anne wide eyed in confusion, and wonder. How could just a little guy move so fast? "Pop Attack!" The energetic blue imp cries out before striking Snimon square in it's eyeless face. However, the monstrous insect doesn't even flinch, leaving DemiVeemon standing atop it's head, tilting his head in confusion as he bends forward to look down at the unphased beast. "Nada, huh? Well, I am still in-training, hehe." He nervously chuckles out as he scratches the back of his head.

Not wanting the failed counterattack to discourage her new, little buddy. Anne shouts up at him while shooting him a thumbs up. "Nah, dude! Bug's just dazed by your super cool moves!" Which gets the little blue guy's red eyes to light up, nubs raised towards his face as he soaks in the praise, bouncing on his little feet in excitement. "Really?! You think so?!" He shouts back gleefully, the insectoid beneath his feet growing annoyed now. As though offended by this sweet little interaction the two were having. It suddenly jerks its head down before raising it back up violently, punting poor little DemiVeemon off of it's head like a beachball. The little guy shrieking as he's sent flying upwards.

In that moment, time seems to come to a crawl as Anne watches helplessly as her new friend flies higher and higher, crying out for her as though she stood a chance against the mantis-like beast. Her terrified gaze moving back to said monster as it raises its twin scythe-like arms, the blades of which began glowing a bright magenta. Clearly it was done playing around and ready to make the killing blow.

This was it. Her final moments. She'd just turned thirteen and she was about to bite it. But there was so much she still had to see and do! Like seeing how Suspicious Island ends! Or seeing Love Choice 2! Or seeing her friends again… Or her parents… What would her parents think if she kicked the bucket here? Ditching her birthday party like she did, they might think she ran away. Never to be seen again. Blaming themselves for the unknown fate of their little girl… "No…" Anne says shakily, turning back on her side as she hugs herself tightly, trembling as she gives into despair. "Mom. Dad. I'm sorry. I don't want to die here." She whimpers out as tears roll down her cheeks and onto the forest floor.

Although he was far too high up to possibly hear the whimpers of his new friend, DemiVeemon does just that. He hears every word. Something within him burns, his shrieks ceasing as his own fear is cast aside. Replaced by one singular thought, "defend the one you can't live without." Suddenly, even though he's still seemingly helpless in the air, he courageously shouts down at the mantis-like monster. "LEAVE HER ALONE!"

Anne's teary eyes go wide as her gaze snaps to the now falling little blue creature. Wondering how such a little guy could keep their spirits even though they couldn't possibly win. "If he's not giving up. Why am I?" Is what she asked herself as something stuck in her wild hair suddenly begins rumbling. The blue device that had fell to her feet back home was now stuck in her hair, the device letting out a series of beeps and chirps like an old school ringtone. Followed by what almost sounds like one heck of a guitar riff. She couldn't see it, but the little virtual pet toy's screen was lit up now. A pixel interpretation of DemiVeemon manifested onto the screen before bars of white light flash over the screen in it's place. "When did that thing get in there?" Anne thinks to herself, reaching up to try and untangle the device before her currently plummeting friend shouts out loud, "DemiVeemon, Digivolve to-!"

Snimon roars out at this, swinging its energized blades towards the falling one as he's suddenly enveloped by light. "TWIN SICKLES!" It roars out as the swinging blades launching magenta energy blades towards their new target. The beast had clearly been ready to take Anne out earlier, but it must have held off just to savor her grief. "You could talk this whole time!?" Anne barks out angrily at what she had assumed was just some animal. Meanwhile the energy blades soar towards their falling target. Just before impact though, a less infantile voice shouts out triumphantly, "Veemon!" The light around him vanishing, a swirl of ones and zeroes expelled outwards before his newly formed fist begins glowing with a bright blue light of its own. "VEE PUNCH!" He roars out as he just straight up punches the energy waves that were flung his way, breaking through, shattering them like they were glass. He doesn't stop, flying fist first towards the giant bug below.

The air cracks like someone just shot off a gun as Veemon's fist hits its mark, Snimon's forehead. The giant insect is pushed back by the force of said punch, arching backwards as it tumbles away from Anne and crashes into some trees. Veemon recovers midair somehow, somersaulting backwards, landing on his feet before the wide-eyed Thai girl. He then turns back to look at her, offering her a smile. "You're not going belly-up while I'm here, Anne!" He announces so confidently. "Remember what I said before? As long as we stick together, everything we do will go our way! So, get off your butt! Cause this power is all yours!" He reassures her while brushing his thumb along the bottom of his now horned nose, like he'd been watching too many old kung fu movies. Then, he offers her his hand, so he may help her to her feet. Anne smiles back at him, like his newfound confidence was somehow her own. With her racket and the music box now scattered on the ground around, she wipes away her tears. "Okay!" She says as she sniffles away the last bit of sadness she had felt, now replaced by Veemon's… No, their courage.

Though, as she reaches out for his blue hand, Snimon lets out a thunderous roar as it recovers from that divebomb of a punch. Its four wings beating faster than the eye can see as it launches forward, clearly ticked off now. Its bladed arms glowing once more, much brighter now as it rushes towards them. Veemon then yanks Anne upwards, tossing her overhead before catching her with little effort. She'd whine about how he almost ripped her arm off, but given what's going on, she decides to keep it to herself… for now. He then jumps into the air, avoiding Snimon's charge before landing off to the side and setting her back down. As Snimon turns towards them, his sickle-like arms still glowing, Anne realizes that it was still building up energy.

Tapping the top of Veemon's head, she shares with him her observation. "Hey! So, he's still charging for something big. Think you can punch through like last time?" She says quietly, since the bug didn't have eyes, it wouldn't know that they're scheming lest it hears them. "Hmm, nope." He just flat-out states after a mere second of thought. To which Anne holds her arms out in disbelief. "Why not?" "Because I was using the momentum of my fall to add to my punch's power last time, duh. If he's charging for something bigger, I don't think one punch will do." Veemon explains as Snimon lumbers over, thinking the two are frozen in fear yet again, its jagged maw twisted into some attempt at a smirk.

"Okay, think Boonchuy! Momentum and more than one punch!" These words echo in her head as they watch the insect take its time approaching them, its bladed limbs glowing brighter as they charge up. Something clicks, Anne gasping in excitement. "Okay. How about a bunch of punches as you swing your arms wildly for momentum?" She suggests, though her raised voice alerts the beast, causing it to roar out as it prepares to finally attack. "Okay! Here goes!" Veemon exclaims as he begins rotating is arms, building up speed with each rotation. Now, normally this idea probably wouldn't work. But here, in this world…

"Ultimate Twin Sickles!" The insect bellows out as it swings its arms about, launching a barrage of energy blades towards the duo. Meanwhile, Veemon's arms begin rotating so fast that Anne can see nothing but blue streaks. Veemon then steps in front of her, meeting Snimon's attack head-on. "Boom Boom Punch!" He shouts out as his whirling arms pick up the pace further, the blue streaks rotating before Anne now glowing brightly as they make contact with those waves of energy. Although they don't shatter like earlier, the energy blades are deflected, sent flying away from them all about the forest, deforestation problems the furthest thing from their minds right now.

Each and every one of Snimon's energy blades are diverted away from the duo, much to the mantis-monsters dismay. Once again crying out with a piercing shriek, the giant mantid raises one of it's scythes high up, readying to slash at the two pesky morsels with the intent of slicing them apart. However, as the blade drops down towards its target, Veemon prepares to counter with another punch. With another mighty, "VEE PUNCH!" Veemon shatters the incoming blade, causing the beast to cry out in anguish. Anne imagines that it probably felt like breaking a finger or maybe even a hand. The shards of the blade scattering in the air before dissipating into particles of ones and zeros. She would have felt a bit bad about this, if said monstrous mantis didn't immediately retaliate with a jab with its other bladed arm. This time, it hoped to skewer the little, punch-happy dragonling.

However, Veemon hops up onto the dull side of the blade before using it as a springboard to bounce himself up into the air again. "Anne! You might wanna back off!" He warns before diving back down, velocity increasing until he's surrounded by a glowing, blue cone. Blazing like some space rock plummeting through the atmosphere. The yellow V on Veemon's forehead glowing a brilliant gold. "VeeHeadDrop!" Echoes out before he crashes headfirst into Snimon's own skull. The force of the impact sends Anne flying back, tumbling backwards until she manages to grab onto a tree's trunk. "I thought you were trying to save me, dude!" She cries out as she clings to the tree for dear life.

Soon, the dust settles, Snimon lying before Anne, clearly knocked out by that impressive, meteoric headbutt. Still breathing, but the carapace atop its head was cracked. Veemon stands triumphantly over his defeated foe, giving Anne a bold and cliché V for victory with his fingers, grinning confidently as he winks down at her. Even though he's now covered in scraps and bruises from the impact, a cartoonishly large bump swelling up atop his head. "That's what I did, ain't it?" To which, Anne can't help but chuckle and give him a victorious V in return. Even if she's still clinging to a tree.

With the big ol' bug out cold, the duo recovers their belongings. Anne heading back to the patch of thorny vines she had left her racket and the gilded box at. While Veemon hops about the trees, looking for the gift he had been saving for Anne. It had fallen when he was launched into the air as DemiVeemon.

Once that's done, they reunite on the forest floor. Though, as Anne walks over to the little, punch happy dragonling, she frowns in concern as she sees him sitting on the ground, leaning back as he tries to catch his breath. He was clearly feeling exhausted now, and the toll that fight had made on his body was probably getting harder to ignore. "Hey. You okay, Vee?" She asks, seeing fit to shorten his name since they'd just bonded over a life and death situation. To which he turns back to look at her, over falling onto his back, arms spread out. "Tired. Hungry." He whines out between heavy breaths.

Offering a comforting smile, Anne then reaches into her backpack and pulls out a candy bar. "It's not much, but it's better than nothing." She says as she holds out the little treat. Veemon then hops to his feet an overzealously chomps on said hand. "Dude! Seriously!?" She exclaims as she then shakes her arm about feverishly, trying to pry her hand from the dragonling's maw. Thankfully he slips off with nothing but the candy bar in his mouth, chewing happily as he sits back down on the grassy floor. Anne looks down at her now drool covered hand, shaking it in disgust with an expression to match. She stops as Veemon starts coughing, about to rush to him in case she needs to perform the Heimlich maneuver. Fortunately, he gets it out himself, coughing up the candy bar's wrapper. Getting a sigh of relief out of the Thai teen. "That was nice, thanks Anne!" He energetically thanks her. "Though, would have been better without that weird paper." He adds jokingly.

At first she chuckles at this, before her face grows a bit gloomy. "So, what now?" She asks him, her path currently very unclear without her friends by her side. "Well, you should probably have someone patch ya up. Ya did roll around in some thorns, after all. So, maybe we head towards the nearby Digi-Village?" He suggests, Anne scoffing a bit as he suggests that she get her little cuts looked at. "Oh, come on. Nothing but scrapes and pricks." She insists, though as one of those pricks was on the bottom of her sock-clad foot, the stinging pain was rather consistent so long as she's standing. But in the Digital World, things weren't always as innocent as they seem. And Veemon knows this.

He then smiles up at her, getting back on his feet and waddling towards her, still very much exhausted. "Well, even if you don't need a doctor. A village is still a good place to start looking for your human friends, right?" He suggests before Anne gasps out, slapping her own forehead as she mentally calls out her own stupidity for not realizing this first. "Oh! Duh! Alright, Vee. Lets head on out!" She says eagerly before walking off, straight ahead as she didn't know where said village was. Though, it only takes a few steps before she realizes this and turns back towards the blue dragonling. "Um, which way?" She asks with an embarrassed, little smile. Getting a playful chuckle from the punch-happy blue dude. He then marches after her, before faceplanting into the forest floor. That fight had clearly pushed him further than he had let on.

Anne walks back over to the currently embarrassed dragonling as he picks his face up out of the dirt, cheeks pinkened by frustration as he tries to pick himself back up. Anne then lowers herself down to her knees, back facing him. Looking over her shoulder, she offers him a soft smile. "Come on, hop on." She instructs, to which he looks down in what seems like shame. "But… your foot." He says quietly, not wanting to burden her. After all, he had just saved her. And now, he could barely walk. He couldn't help but feel like he looked so pathetic now, especially after how cool he had been earlier. She chuckles a bit at this. "It's fine. Besides, you should save your strength. Ya know, in case more monsters come by!" She insists, smiling warmly back at him. Relenting, Veemon begrudgingly crawls up her backpack. Sitting atop it, legs hanging over her shoulders as he rests his head atop her floofy haired head. He then points them in the right direction, allowing Anne to set off on the correct course this time.

Veemon then remembers the gift he had been saving for her, sitting up a moment as he suddenly wraps a pair of oversized aviator goggles around her head, lens resting upon her forehead. Though, he does accidently snap the elastic against the back of her head. "H-Hey!" Anne whines out, wincing as she looks back at the blue dragonling riding her shoulders. Veemon offering her an apologetic smile. "Sorry! It's your gift! Found them a while back and thought I'd save em for my super awesome bud!" Raising a brow at this, she reaches into her pocket and takes out her phone. Using it's camera, she inspects the new accessory the little dragonling had suddenly strapped to her head.

A pair of hot pink aviator goggles with tinted green lens. On the bridge connecting the two lenses, a three-pronged insignia of some kind. It almost looked like a frog's foot. Moving her camera about to get different angles of herself with the goggles, the Rookie gets a bit nervous. "S-So… You like em? I-I mean, you don't have to like em, of course! Heh, I'm sure I can find something more your style in town." He rambles on anxiously, earning a little chuckle from Anne. "Oh, they're real goofy!" She begins before looking up at him again. "But, also oddly nostalgic. Thanks, dude." Veemon's scarlet eyes shining brightly as he hears this, confident smile back on his lips. She then gets an idea of her own. "Hey, selfie?" "I don't know what that is, but sure!" The two then posing for the photo, camera lens looking down at their faces as they both hold up a V for victory as they smile brightly up at the camera.

"So, where are we exactly? Anne asks as they now have some time to just talk again. "The Digital World, duh." The dragonling answers as though it were the most obvious thing ever. "And where exactly is that?" "I don't know, I ain't no quantum physicist." This answer getting a huff out of Anne. "Well, what are you? I mean, I know you're DemiVeemon or Veemon now. But like, what are you? How'd you change and all that?" This gets a chuckle out of the blue dragonling. "That's called Digivolution. And I'm a Digimon! Short for Digital Monster!" He happily explains. As though was a useful answer to the stranded girl. "Is that like a Pockemon?" She asks, referring to an incredibly popular trading card, anime, and video game franchise from back home. To which Veemon pouts, playfully smacking the top of Anne's head before sitting up straight, arms crossing over his white chest, feigning offense. "Two completely different kinds of child-friendly monsters, Anne! Not to mention completely overrated!" After a moment of silence, the two burst into laughter as they walk on towards the village.

Maybe my wings are too weak to fly.

But my heart just begs me to try.

Watch me, I'm ready to soar.

On! My! Love!

Wanting to know what all of the sudden commotion was about these days in ShogunGekomon's Castle, the little green Gummymon was steadily hopping up a flight of stairs, towards where so many Gekomon and Otamamon were focusing their services at. Obviously, the Gummymon didn't belong. But as the estate had taken him in after a Gekomon found him halfdead on the road heading into the castle grounds, he had just as much at stake as everyone else. Whatever was going on. And he was still in-training, so he was also just curious. Looking up the stairs he was climbing, he saw an unfamiliar figure approach. A girl dressed in a light green, royal-looking dress. He doesn't know why, but he's suddenly filled with a sense of warmth and belonging.

"Princess Marcy, look where you're going!" One of the Gekomon calls out in terror, as said "princess" was too busy admiring and gawking at the shiro-styled palace's interior to see that she was about to… and there she goes. The elegantly dressed dorky girl tumbles down the flight of stairs, right towards Gummymon. Though, for whatever reason, he can't stop smiling.

"Princess Marcy! Are you alright?!" The servants call out to her from the top of the stairs, praying that they hadn't lost their one hope to reawaken their master. To which, Marcy calls back from the bottom of the stairs. "I'm good!" She begins before holding up the adorable green blob. "And so's this super cute blobby thing!" To which, Gummymon giggles out, "I'm squishy!"

The various Gekomon and Otamamon let out collective sighs of relief at this as they begin making their way down the steps to retrieve her. But then, Marcy calls out again. "Hey! Actually, uh… I think my leg's bent the wrong way! Really starting to hurt, heh…" To which, the amphibious Digimon collectively facepalm. Gummymon laughing adorably, nuzzling the hand that was lifting him up.

Author Notes: Heya! I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of this overly ambitious fanfic! I hope I've managed to capture some of the spirit of both shows! This is actually my first fanfic in a long time. At least... my first SFW fanfic in a while. Heh...

Ya see, I've only recently watched and finished Amphibia. Like, a couple months ago. And I absolutely adored it! So much so, that I came here just to read fanfics cause I was starving for more! And now, well, now I'm adding to the catalogue of fan-content.

Why Digimon Adventure though? You may be asking. Well, I can't be the only one who sees the similarities in themes and such, right? Maybe I am... But then, why are you here then? I don't know. Anyway, let me know what ya think! Constructive criticism is more than welcome! I know I'm not too good at describing things like backgrounds and appearances. Which is weird, like, if you write NSFW stuff so often, then why are you bad at describing people? I don't know. I'm rambling!
