The Daily Lives of the Owl Familia: P2:
The Demon Realm decision:

Summary: The Deam Realm Council debates how they should handle recent developments.

Timeline: Four days had passed since the Jacob incident.

"Let me see if I have this correct," Darius said slowly, "You want us to begin to interact with the humans?"

The Boiling Isles council and the Owl Familia mothers had gathered to talk about recent events.

"Yes," Lilith replied calmly.

With an exasperated sigh, Darius pinched his nose and gave the historian a look. Lilith took that as her cue to clarify things and stood up.

"I don't need to remind everyone here what one human's action nearly caused," Lilith spoke calmly, "However, we also know these actions were born out of a mix of fear and anger."

Lilith looked at each council member and gauged their reactions; Hettie Cutburn and her husband, Osran, were unreadable like usual. Eberwolf looked bored, and Raine and Darius were giving her their complete attention, but also was unreadable.

"Philip Wittebane had come to fear us to such a degree that he came to believe that eliminating us was the best course of action for "saving" the human race. However, we must remember that he spent nearly four hundred among our kinds and never once saw us as living creatures. He-"

"Ha!" Eda suddenly exclaimed in a snarky tone, "If you asked me, old bonehead got jealous because his big bro got a hot witch girlfriend before he did. Want to speed things along, Lily? We don't have four-hundreds for you to get to the point."

"Eda," Camila said in a slightly scolding tone.

Lilith glared at the grinning face of her sister and then sighed. She then looked back at the council.

"What I mean is that would we let such an event like the Day of Unity transpire because we let humans judge us solely based on appearance instead of actions? Because, as loathsome as he was, Belos did show us that there are good and bad witches just like my niece, Luzura had shown that there are good humans alongside bad humans."

The room grew silent as they each thought over what Lilith just said. Darius watched as the historian took her seat and then looked at his fellow council members. It was clear that what Lilith said was giving pause for thought.

"What do you propose then," Darius asked, "That we set up an embassy?"

"Maybe an embassy is too strong of a term at this time," Orsan said, speaking for the first time. "We are just interacting with a small town. Maybe we should start small by setting up a trading system. I think both realms could benefit from trading items."

Darius looked at the oracle and thought over his words. It made sense, and if things went well, they could extend at a later date.

"That's probably the best course," Darius said after a minute.

"Indeed," Orsan replied, then looked at Raine, "And I nominate Raine Whispers as Head of Foreign Trade."

"Wait, what?" Raine shouted, jumping to their feet. "Why me?"

"Well, Raine," Orsan said, speaking with a hint of ominous in his voice, "At this point, you're the only one on the council without a position."

Raine wanted to argue, saying the reason they didn't have any position was because they were still organizing.

"Besides," Hettie added, "We can't ask the only human adult in the Isles to take up the position. If we do something like that, the other humans might get the impression that we're not taking this ordeal as seriously as they are."

"And, if I remember right," Darius added his two cents, "You were the treasurer of the Bard Coven for over 12 years. If there's one witch could come to understand human currency, it would be you."

"Besides, old bean," Eberwolf piped, "You're part of the Owl Familia. With their help, you would have near to fret over."

"Also, if we leave this in my sister's hands," Lilith felt like adding, "She would probably scam the entire town before the day was over."

Raine looked at their fellow council members and slummed in their chair. It looked like they weren't able to get out of this one. They looked at the three they considered family and saw they were also on board with the idea.

So reluctantly, Raine agreed.

"Alright, I know when I beat," the bard said weakly. "But know, I'm only doing this on a trial basis. If I'm not suited for this position, I will resign."

"Understood," Darius replied and turned his attention to the council. "Now, all we need to do is figure out what items we would like to trade with the humans."

So, the council members and the mothers of the Owl Familia began making plans to set up the first trade center between the human and demon realms.

Besides managing Darius and Raine's positions on the Boiling Isles council, I don't think I ever told what position the other members hold. Will, both Orsan and Hettie are co-heads of the Research and Development. Finally, Eberwolf is head of security.
