On approach to the new house, Kelly and Callie looked out of the front window and both opened their mouths in shock, Callie glanced behind her to find Hollie and Eden equally in shock, the house was more of a mansion than a house, Kelly smiled as a banner came into view with it saying 'Welcome home Eden and Ellie'. Pulling onto the vast driveway they found the whole firehouse family and the Western family and Benny stood there.
"What the hell did your Grandpa do now?"
Eden and Hollie looked on bewildered and got out the car, standing beside Grace and Ellie. Callie and Kelly joined their children and stared up at the house, Bruno and Celeste walked forward and grabbed Callie and Kelly's hands.
"I knew the owners and the son wanted a quick sell, he didn't want it in the family anymore, so when I told them that my daughter, boyfriend and four children needed a forever home, he took fifty percent off, welcome to your new home"
Callie shook her head "Dad this is too much, what about my brothers you never spoil them?"
Grant walks forward "This was brought by the people you see stood here today and I don't just mean us Western's either"
Callie looked up at the whole firehouse family smiling and holding up their thumbs, she turned to Kelly and the girls and smiled, the family of six walked into their new home and stood inside the massive living room, Bruno stood beside them.
"The top level has four bedrooms, the girls all get their own space, you'll find them fully furnished and ready to go"
Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie took one look at Bruno and took off at a run to find their rooms, it was a good idea the living room was large as everyone piled in and admired their work, you see in the two days off from work they'd redecorated the whole house, sorted the garden, built furniture and made the house homely and ready to live in.
Callie and Kelly wandered around the house, smiling as they went, when they got back to the living room they stood watching everyone interacting and knew that they all needed to know their secret, as if by knowing what was going to happen next the four girls run back down the stairs and head straight towards Bruno and Celeste.
"Grandpa, Nanny our rooms are so nice"
"Thank you to you both"
"Thank you I've never had a room as nice as this"
Ellie jumped up and down in glee "It's Disney themed, thank you so much"
All four girls hugged Bruno and Celeste tightly, the adults were beaming happily, this was when Callie and Kelly stepped forward.
"Guys we have an announcement to make"
Everyone stopped and looked at Kelly, he gulped and pulled Callie further into his side, Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie all smiled, all knowing.
"Right well what we're trying to say is…"
Kelly stopped talking and stared at everyone, sweat dripping from his forehead, Callie rolled her eyes and continued "Well here goes, whilst in Florida me and Kelly got married, hitched, together forever"
Silence a deafening silence until.
"Phew means I don't have to keep it a secret anymore, guys it was awesome, mom and dad were married by Goofy and the rest of the Disney characters was there, it…"
Bruno and Celeste stepped forward towards Callie and Kelly, who both stepped back and hit the back of their heads of the living room unit, rubbing each other's heads they forgot that Bruno and Celeste were coming towards them until they were pulled into a hug.
"Oh I'm so happy, I couldn't think of a better man for my daughter and grandchildren"
"Boy even though you did this the totally unethical way, I forgive you because you make my daughter and grandchildren happy" Bruno turned to everyone else in room and smiled "Well looks like we've already given them their wedding gift, now who wants to celebrate?"
The silence turned into sheer joy, Stella, Sylvie and Violet run at Callie and pulled her into a hug admiring the engagement and wedding rings on her hand, the men of fifty-one slapped Kelly on the back and were over the moon, Benny motioned for Kelly to join him outside.
Once outside Benny glared at Kelly "Is this some kind of joke?"
Kelly looks at his dad in shock, but then anger "Excuse me?"
"You've only been with her, well not long and you married her, what she do tell you she's pregnant? So you did the honourable thing of marrying the tramp!"
"Don't you dare slag off my wife, I married Callie because I love her, even from the first time I laid eyes on her at fifty-one, you know what your problem is?"
"No but I'm guessing you're going to tell me"
"You don't like the fact that I've found someone I truly know I'll be with for the rest of my days, I maybe a Severide by name but the way you treated all your wife's stops here, I love Callie and the girls, so listen here old man, you best get used to the fact I married Callie and that we have four girls together because if not you get out of our lives, my wife and daughters don't need your toxic attitude around them, you've lost the one chance to get to know them all, now go. Oh and whatever you paid towards this house you'll get back"
Benny rolled his eyes and before leaving turned towards Kelly again "You're a Severide and mark my words sooner rather than later she'll see the real you"
Kelly pushed Benny out the way and walked into the house, Benny followed grabbed his jacket and let out of the front door, Boden moved towards Kelly and pulled him into the kitchen.
"What happened?"
Kelly sighed and poured himself and Boden a whiskey "Oh you know the usual, I'll fail at this marriage, Callie will find out the real me, accused me of marrying her because she told me she's pregnant, she's not. Chief I love Callie with all my heart I loved her from the first moment I saw her, I'd do anything to keep my family happy, but Benny he's…he's…"
Boden grabbed Kelly's arm "He's not worth the time or stress, you have a wonderful family now, truth be told out of you and Casey I didn't think it be you that would announce that you were married and with kids, three of which are teenagers and an almost teenager, good luck"
Kelly laughs "Thanks, but I won't need it and Chief"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for being there, I don't speak for Casey but you are more a father to us that what our own are"
"I know, now let's get out there and spend time with the family that matters, ok?"
Kelly nods and drinks the whiskey and heads out to mingle with his true family, he finds Callie stood with Donna, Cindy and Chloe, when he gets beside the ladies he kisses Callie and pulls her into his side.
At 10pm the party died down and everyone left, Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie helped tidy up and then dragged their feet up to bed, Kelly and Callie walked upstairs to their room, Kelly uses the bathroom first and gets into his sweatpants and settles down in bed, Callie comes out the bathroom and gets into Kelly's Chicago bear t-shirt and sweatpants, Callie brushed her hair and then joined Kelly in the bed.
"Care to tell me what you and Benny were talking about outside?"
"No!"
"Kelly? Talk to me what did he do?"
Kelly sighed and held Callie's hands "Called you some horrible names, said I'd screw this marriage up, I love you have since the first day we met, it got to me how evil he could be to you and our family, told him to get out my life"
"Oh Kelly I'm sorry, but it's his loss"
Kelly nodded kissed the side of Callie's head and pulled her down into his arms further, they both fell asleep quickly hugging each other.
Seven weeks later a lot had happened, the court case for adoption had come and gone, Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie were now known as Grace Ayda Severide, Hollie Luisa Severide, Eden Rose Severide and Ellie May Severide. Eden and Ellie thrived at school their grades had improved to the point they were over achieving in their grades, this made Callie and Kelly extremely proud.
Also in those seven weeks Callie and Kelly had been gifted a week away by Donna and Boden which left Grant, Robin, Jack, Oscar and Luke in charge of their nieces, how much trouble could happen? Well here goes…
On the second night that Callie and Kelly were away on their honeymoon, found Grant stood on the roof in just his boxer shorts after a dare gone wrong. This also found Grant now looking down at Truck eighty-one and Ambo sixty-one looking up at him. Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie were laughing, Robin, Jack, Oscar and Luke were mortified.
Stella volunteered to go up the aerial to help Grant back onto solid ground, she laughed once at the top Grant was wearing boxer shorts covered in cucumbers.
"Ahh a joke present from Luke for my birthday"
Stella nods "Oh like the Banana covered ones he owns"
"Say what?"
"I…oh damn it"
Grant smiles "You and Luke? How long?"
"Four weeks, you ok with this?"
"What the fact that my brothers girlfriend has seen me in nothing more than my boxer shorts, no I'm ok with it"
Stella giggles "Really?"
Grant shakes his head "What do you think? Then again could have been worse"
Stella guides Grant to the top rung of the aerial "Oh how so?"
"I could be butt naked right now"
Stella stops and giggles "Yeah and you'd be given everyone a birds eye view of everything, me included. All I can say is thank god you are"
Grant and Stella laugh and make their way down the aerial, at the bottom Violet hands Grant a blanket and guides him to Ambo, Violet can't help but stare at Grant's tanned chest and turns quickly causing the contents on the bed to fall to the floor.
"God damn it!"
Grant smiles and helps Violet pick up the items from the floor, on the last item they touched hands at the same time, they looked into each other's eyes and didn't hear Sylvie approaching.
"Hey Grant I have your…"
"Say what?"
"Clothes I have your clothes"
Grant nods and stands up, causing Violet to blush, Sylvie smiles places the clothes on the stretcher and walks away, Grant looks at the clothes and then down at Violet.
"I best get ready"
Violet nods "Urm yes, everything checks out"
Grant raises his eyebrows "Oh?"
Violet shakes her head "I meant medical wise, nothing else, urhh excuse me I'll leave you to get ready"
Grant steps to one side and as Violet walks past he grabs her arm "Keep Friday night free, you and I are going out"
Violet stands open mouthed in shock but quickly recovers or so she thinks as Grant leans forward and grabs his t-shirt.
"Your beautiful Violet"
"I…ok urm I'm going to go wait outside" Violet gets down out of Ambo and turns around smiling "Got any other novelty boxer shorts?"
Grant looks down and then back up "Oh wouldn't you like to know"
Violet smiles and leans forward "Friday?"
"Friday"
Violet turns and walks away smiling from one ear to the other, Grant in the back of Ambo was also smiling.
Back to the present..
So yes trouble happened but not everything was a disaster, Grant and Violet had their date and found they really liked each other, the thirteen year age difference didn't seem to bother them in fact it was going so well, Violet had been included in a few family events, as had Stella.
On a Friday night after taking so long to organise, found the firehouse family, the Western's, Jay and Will Halstead and the rest of the intelligence unit in Molly's to celebrate the success of the adoption of Eden and Ellie and Grace and Hollie, everyone was having a wonderful time on Molly's patio.
The night was in full swing and everyone was enjoying themselves, Kelly excused himself from his wife's embrace to go to the bathroom, once inside Kelly waved at the bar staff and went to the bathroom, when he came out he found a women stood outside waiting, he believed for someone else, she was in fact waiting for him. Without any warning she pulled Kelly into her arms and kissed him, Kelly pushed her back, that's when he saw Callie stood looking at him.
"You truly are a Severide through and through"
"Callie wait I didn't, she came at me"
"Save it for someone who cares, you can find somewhere else to sleep tonight but it won't be with me"
Callie stormed away and back out onto the patio, Kelly glared at the women retreating back and went back outside to the patio, Kelly tried for the remainder of the night to get close to Callie, but she'd always move away, when it came to the party ending, Callie waited for Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie to get in but as soon as Kelly approached the car she took off, leaving him stood outside Molly's.
Boden witnessing the strange behaviour all evening walked up to Kelly "Everything ok?"
"No Chief, some women comes up to me outside the bathrooms and kisses me, Callie saw it and won't speak to me, Chief I've done nothing wrong and she's told me to sleep somewhere else tonight, what am I going to do?"
"Firstly you come home with us, secondly… actually you know what I'm not sure, sorry"
Kelly nodded and followed Boden to his car, to find Donna and Terence looking at him, Terence waved sluggishly after all he was half asleep.
Donna pulled Kelly into a hug "You're welcome to stay with us"
"Thank you Donna"
A week later and nobody had dared to ask why Callie was ignoring Kelly, not even the girls asked their mom, but they'd often sit up and listen to their mom sobbing herself to sleep, this upset the girls immensely especially as their dad refused to talk about it to them.
Callie stood in the kitchen of the common room and soon realised a grocery run was needed, she turned and walked towards Boden's office, she tapped the door frame and walked in.
"Hi Chief we need a grocery run, do you have any objections of me doing it?"
Boden nods and smiles "Of course not" Boden handed her the keys to the buggy "Here"
"Thanks Chief see you soon"
Boden nodded and watched as Callie stood briefly with Kylie, Callie smiled and patted Kylie's shoulders, Callie pulled her hair from her hair tie and continued to walk out of fifty-one, she found Casey by truck.
"I'm going to do the grocery run, I'm taking the Chief's buggy"
"Ok, see you soon"
Callie nodded and walked back towards the Chief's buggy, Kelly stood up from the Squad table and walked towards the buggy, Callie seeing her husband walking towards her quickly put on her seatbelt and drove out of the apparatus floor, Kelly shook his head, threw his pen on the Squad table and walked into the firehouse, the whole of Truck and Squad looked at each other and shook their heads.
Callie drove towards Wilson's Mart, she pulled into the car park, jumped out of the buggy and grabbed a cart, making sure she had her radio she walked into the shop and walked past the greeter.
"Hi welcome to Wilson's hope you have a pleasant shopping experience today, if you need anything ask for Becky"
"Thanks"
Callie walked through the aisles grabbing various items, as she went to grab several bags of marshmallows she heard police sirens, tires screeching, glass breaking and worst of all gun shots. Everyone in the shop started to panic, running into the back of the store. Callie abandoned her cart and crept to the end of the aisle.
Callie found one young man stood at the front waving his gun around at those at the front of store, Callie unclipped her radio and placed it on the shelf, volume turned down, she noticed that the young man walked down a few of the aisles and dragged people to the front, Callie knew she had to do something but not to risk the other shoppers.
Callie stepped around the aisle hands raised and stopped as the young man pointed his gun at her.
"Get up here!"
Callie nodded and stepped forward her hands still raised "You look hurt?"
The young guy looked down at his stomach to find a large gash there, he looked back up and pointed his gun at a women cowering with a younger women.
"You two related?"
They could only nod "Ok you can go find me anything to stop this from bleeding, if you don't I'll shoot her, got it?"
The older women just nodded and stood "I don't know which aisle stores the first aid supplies"
The store clerk raised his hand "Down aisle three, but why should we help you, the quicker you bleed out the quicker we can get out of here"
Callie walked forward "Look we're all in this together so to prevent anyone getting seriously hurt I suggest you sit back and be quiet"
"Why should I?"
"Because if you don't and he shoots someone, they'll send police in and then they'd be chaos, you could get injured in the process, do you want that?"
"Well no… ok fine I'll sit down"
Callie nodded and walked nearer to the young man "I'm a firefighter but I can help with your injury, can I do that?"
The young man nods, as the supplies come back Callie lifts the young man's t-shirt "So what's a young man like you doing in a shop in the middle of Chicago holding a gun?"
"I escaped from a transport van, I panicked"
Callie nodded "Ok, look you'll eventually need stitches but for now I've done what I can do, what's your name, I'm Callie"
"Devon Smith"
"Hi Devon, you know you'll have to show some faith to them, maybe give them a hostage?"
The older women starts to sob "Oh my god!"
Callie and Devon walk over to where she stood screaming, Callie looked down to find Becky unconscious and covered head to toe in blood and her leg twisted and her foot facing her stomach.
"Oh my god I didn't mean too"
The shop clerk stands up "Yeah right, you're in it for yourself and damn the rest of us!"
Callie stands up and in front of Devon "Will you shut up?"
"Is she dead?"
Callie shook her head "No Devon, I just need some space to reset her leg, can I do that?"
Devon nodded and watched as Callie reset Becky's leg, Becky screamed in agony and looked up at Callie and Devon.
"What the hell happened?"
"It doesn't matter right now, what matters is that we get you out"
Devon nodded "Yes that's a good idea"
Callie smiles at Devon who starts to move the debris, Callie looks at all the hostages and points at an man in his sixties.
"You can go with Becky, ok?"
"Sure, hey kid what did you go prison for exactly?"
"Are you for real?"
"Hey can't a guy ask?"
Devon sighed "Fine I was a getaway driver for a robbery and it all went wrong, the owner got shot so I was charged with manslaughter even though I never shot the gun, if only I listened to my sister and went to be with her in San Diego"
"You got a dollar any money?"
"Man why do you want my money?"
"Charles Young I was a lawyer and you my friend have just gained yourself the best damn lawyer in the state of Illinois"
"I only have five cents"
Charles grabs the money "That will do"
Devon smiles at Charles and goes to the gap in the open doorway "I'm going to allow two people out"
Callie looked up as the glass from the shop window started to sway it dropped and within seconds Callie pushed Devon down to the floor and covered him with her body, everyone else in the shop screamed.
Callie looked down to see Devon looking up at her "Thanks, you could have let that hit me"
"Nonsense it wouldn't have been right, my code I have to follow as a firefighter of Chicago"
Callie stood up and helped Devon to his feet "Now let them go"
Devon nodded and helped Charles to get Becky to her feet, Charles helped Becky to the opening and looked back at Devon.
"I'll see you out here son and we can start talking about that plea"
Devon nodded and once Charles and Becky were out, he closed up the gap again, he turned around to find the shop clerk looking down at the debris around the front of the car.
"Oh my god he's dead, no plea will help you now, its murder 101"
Devon leapt forward and Callie joined him a second later "Oh fuck I killed him, what's the point anymore?"
Callie grabbed Devon's arm "There is a point, you were firing out the store, look at him Devon, he was shot by a police officer from outside, this isn't on you"
"How convenient that you'd stick up for him, rather than us, you know your fellow hostages"
Callie stood up and towered over the small shop clerk "I suggest you sit down and shut up, I have friends within the police and I can assure you when the time comes I will go in front of a judge and jury and tell them he was shot by a police officer, now sit down that's the last time I'll tell you"
Everyone else clapped, Devon smiled a genuine smile at Callie, then there was a loud clatter from the back of the store, Devon took off at a run and Callie followed to find two customers cowering behind a basket of toilet rolls. Devon pointed at the front of the store, he turned to Callie and pointed his gun at her.
"You go check out back if anyone else is hiding you bring them back out here"
Callie nodded and walked towards the swing doors to come face to face with twelve scared people looking at her.
"Look stay quiet, stay hidden and I'll get you out"
"How the shutter is shut and it will make too much noise to open"
"Ok, I promise you'll get out of here, please stay quiet and hidden"
Everyone in that room nods silently, Callie takes a deep breath and walks back out to the front of store, Devon points the gun at her as she crouches beside a small shelf at the front, placing her radio on the shelf.
Meanwhile over at fifty-one Mouch was sat on the couch flicking through the channels he stop at the news.
"Woah nelly"
Herrmann looked up from his newspaper and joined Mouch staring at the screen, everyone else bar Kelly joins them.
"Isn't that Wilson's?"
Herrman nods "Yeah it is a recognise the sign anywhere"
Boden joins them at the screen and instantly his heart is in his mouth "Callie?"
Herrmann looks at Boden "Chief?"
"Callie's there doing the grocery run"
"What's going on here?"
Boden turns to Kelly "Wilson's Mart has huge police activity around it"
Kelly looks at the screen and then spots the Chief's buggy, his eyes raise into his head "Callie?"
Boden nods and watches as Kelly takes off at a run to Squad, on impulse everyone else ran towards there rigs, the atmosphere in all rigs was intense, but in Squad it was nuclear, Kelly was sobbing. Cruz and Capp held Kelly's shoulders in understanding their brother was worried for his wife.
Over in Wilson's Devon was distracted enough for Callie to make contact with the outside "This is Firefighter Western, reporting all other hostages are safe, there's currently twelve people hidden in the back warehouse, no means of escape, they need extracting quickly, safely and quietly"
Kelly heard his wife's voice through the radio "Callie you ok?"
Callie smiled "Yes Kelly I'm fine, can you do me a favour and get the people out the back, there's one women in respiratory distress"
"On it Callie"
Everyone from fifty-one was relieved to hear Callie's voice and Squad as soon as they got on screen got onto the task, Truck, Ambo, Engine and the Chief stood beside the rigs waiting for any news. Kelly and the rest of Squad got to the back and found the shutter to be too thick to cut through, Capp pointed to the roof and they all climbed up and found a hatch, bolted shut but it was the access they needed.
"Chief the shutters an impossible pass, but we've found a hatch but we'll need a distraction in five minutes when we start cutting the bolts"
Herrmann and Stella stood beside Truck and Engine and nodded and waited, meanwhile Devon was watching he turned to Callie.
"Lots of firefighters and the trucks are out there"
"Yeah that will be the firehouse I work out of, firehouse fifty-one, they'll be worried about me"
"That's nice"
Callie nodded "It is we are a close knit group, a family. You said you had a sister in San Deigo wasn't it?"
Devon nodded "Yeah but I actually have two sisters, both older, the oldest Diane said if I went to her I could have her dog Buddy"
"That's nice, what type of dog is Buddy?"
"A black Labrador, he's a big fluff ball, only a year old too"
Callie smiles and groans quietly as a sound came from the back room, thinking on her feet she stood up with her radio in hand, Devon glared at Callie.
"You been talking to them the whole time?"
"No, I dropped it here, here ask them for yourself"
Devon took the radio and pressed down on the button "This is to whoever is listening, I mean no one no harm, I'm just some messed up kid, but the firefighter with me is helping"
Can we speak to the firefighter?
Devon handed the radio back to Callie but watched her "This is Firefighter Western"
How is everyone?
Callie looks at the hostages and nods "All ok, getting numb from crouching or sitting around but hey all part of the process I guess?"
"Maybe for you, but not for me, get on with whatever you want to do I'm bored of waiting!"
Devon moved towards the store clerk, Callie got to Devon quickly "Devon don't"
Kelly hearing his wife over the radio, whispered to Herrmann and Stella "Now!"
On cue, Truck eighty-one and Engine fifty-one sirens and horns started blaring covering the noise of the bolt cutters on the roof, Devon turned away from the store clerk and watched as Truck and Engine basked the front of the store in light. Callie glared at the shop clerk and pointed at the back of the store and pointed to her lips. Devon turned back around to Callie.
"That was different"
Callie nodded "Indeed I'll have to ask them what that was all about when we get out of here"
Once again Devon was distracted enough for Callie to take a peak down the aisle and noticed only Kelly in the back room, she pointed for him to go back up and never noticed Devon coming towards her, Devon notices the boots of Kelly disappearing and he turns to Callie.
"You promised me there was nobody else was back there, you lied. I trusted you"
Callie held up her hands "I know you did Devon, but I couldn't bring them out here, there was one women in respiratory distress, beside you had enough of us here, I'm sorry I lied"
Devon rubbed the barrel of the gun on his forehead, his eyes glistened with tears "You lied to me, you've put everyone in danger"
"Devon please let them go, I'll stay ok?"
"No that's not good enough, one of you has to die"
"No, nobody has to die, if you do that you'll never get to spend the rest of your days in San Deigo with Diane and Buddy, you want that don't you?"
Devon looked at Callie and the other hostages and then outside "I give up, this was a mistake and I'm sorry"
Devon started to move the debris and looked down as Callie touched his arm "Please Devon we can work this out"
Devon moved Callie's hand from his arm "I'm coming out, surrendering"
Callie stood and watched as Devon walked out all police pointing at him, she noticed he hadn't dropped the gun and the fact the police were getting more and more agitated made her feel like Devon was going to do something stupid, as he went to move the gun, Callie ran out of the store and pushed Devon to the floor, taking the gun from him.
The police surrounded Callie and Devon, the whole of firehouse fifty-one ran at the police screaming "Don't shoot, don't shoot"
Callie stood up and helped Devon to his feet, the most senior officer came up to them "Are you totally insane?"
Callie looked at Devon "Nope, but he has a future, oh and Officer Dean there's a civilian body in there with a gunshot wound to the forehead and I'm telling you now, if its told differently to the fact it was a police officer's gun that did the fatal shot I'll come down on you like a ton of bricks!"
Devon stood open mouthed at Callie and nodded as he was taken away from her to the waiting patrol car, finding Charles not far away Callie walked over to him "Go with him, make sure the best damn lawyer in Chicago sees that he's treated fairly, would you?"
Charles nods "Sure and thanks for keeping him sane, without you I doubt it would have gotten to this point"
Callie nods and pats Charles' arm "Stay in touch, I work out of Firehouse fifty-one"
"I'd like that, now go get that cut checked"
Callie felt above her eyebrow and found blood, she turned to find Sylvie, Violet and Kelly looking at her, she followed them to the back of sixty-one and sat on the stretcher.
"How you feeling?"
Callie looked at Violet and shrugged "Honestly I don't know"
"Everyone ok back there?"
Violet nodded and smiled as Kelly took Callie's hand, Callie took Kelly's hand and kissed it, on arrival Callie walked with Kelly into Med to come face to face with Natalie Manning.
"Hi Callie come with me to exam room three"
Callie nodded and looked over her shoulder as Kelly stood still deflated "You not coming Kelly?"
Kelly looked up from the floor "I just thought after everything you'd not want me there"
"Get over here"
Kelly jogged to be next to his wife, and sat with her on the bed in the room "Cal I'm sorry about what happened in Molly's, I promise you it had nothing to do with me, I was shocked that some random women would do that, I'm still flabbergasted as to why that happened"
"I know it had nothing to do with you now"
"You do, so why the silent treatment for a week, I've missed you and the girls, couch surfing isn't fun, haven't done that since my academy days"
"Kelly I know it wasn't you because I was told who set it up"
"It was a set up? By who?"
Callie grabbed Kelly's hands "Benny"
"HE DID WHAT?"
"Sssh Kelly calm down"
"Calm down? Calm down he could have ruined the best thing to happen to me I'll never forgive him for this, ever as far as I'm concerned my father is dead!"
"Strong words baby"
Kelly shrugged and kissed Callie, Natalie walked back in with wipes and sterri strips, she smiled as Kelly hugged Callie tightly after a few questions Callie was released to the waiting area to come face to face with Benny Severide staring at her, knowing that Kelly wasn't that far behind her she shoved Benny out the way and towards the exit.
"You'd better leave before Kelly sees you"
"I want to speak to my son and nothing you say can stop me"
"Kelly knows what you did"
Kelly saw his dad stood near Callie he stormed over and pulled Callie behind him "Get out you're not welcome here, your poison"
Benny glared at Callie "Got what you wanted you tramp?"
Kelly punched Benny and sent him flying, Boden and Casey ran at Kelly to stop him doing more damage to Benny's face, Callie took a few unsteady steps forward before she looked up at Kelly.
"Kelly?"
Herrmann was close enough to see Callie swaying on her feet, he got to her quickly and caught her just as her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she slumped into his arms.
"SEVERIDE"
Kelly looked over at Herrmann with Callie in his arms, he runs to Herrmann and his wife "What the hell happened Herrmann?"
"She just started swaying, her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she passed out"
Kelly moved some hair from Callie's eyes "Cal? Come on let me see those eyes of yours"
Callie groaned and opened her eyes to find Kelly and Herrmann staring down at her "What the hell happened?"
Herrmann answered first "You started to sway, your eyes rolled into the back of your head and you passed out"
"Thanks for catching me"
Herrmann smiles "No problem, just don't make a habit out of it"
Callie grins "I'll try not too" Callie goes pail quickly "I don't feel so good"
Before anyone could do anything Callie threw up all over herself and Herrmann, at this point Natalie walked back in to find Callie and Herrmann covered in vomit, Natalie pointed to exam room three again and as she walked past the gowns and grabbed two, once in the room Kelly once again was sat beside Callie in the bed, Herrmann was stood in the middle of the room attempting to stop the vomit dripping from his shirt.
Natalie handed Herrmann the gown "Here go change"
Herrmann nodded and left the room, Natalie handed Kelly the other gown and helped Kelly get Callie undressed and into the gown.
"Now I'm going to run more tests, been tired more lately?"
Callie nodded "Yes but I was always crying myself asleep over this one"
Natalie nods "Ok then, so bloods? Have you been drinking enough water?"
Callie shakes her head "Nope"
Natalie nods again "Ok going to get a nurse to set up an IV for fluids"
Callie nodded "Ok"
After all the tests were completed Callie fell asleep, Kelly did too holding the right hand of his wife tightly, a few hours later Natalie walked in to find them both asleep.
Natalie coughed "Well hello you both fell asleep, I have news"
Both Callie and Kelly nodded, Natalie smiled "I'd say congratulations are in order"
"But…but we we're always careful"
"What? Natalie what does that mean?"
Callie gripped Kelly's hand "I'm pregnant"
Kelly looked at Callie and then Natalie "Pregnant?"
Callie nods and turns to Natalie "How far along?"
"From these results I'd say anything between eight and ten weeks, to be sure we'd need to do a scan, want me to do it now?"
"Can you do them?"
Natalie grins "Of course Kelly, we're all trained in the ED just in case"
Callie grabs Kelly's hand "We'd love for you to do the scan"
Natalie nods and walks out the room, Kelly looks down at Callie's flat belly and into her eyes, his eyes glistening with unshed tears "I'm going to be a father again?"
Callie nodded "Seems so, are you ok with this?"
Kelly beaming from one ear to the other nodded "Of course I am, are you?"
"Sure just wasn't thinking we'd be going there this soon, if I'm eight weeks this baby was conceived at Disney"
Kelly looked up "We did have an awful lot to drink, we we're given that villa for the night, Jesus did we not use anything that night?"
Callie laid her hands on her belly "Clearly not, if you think about it, we did bring extra back from Disney after all"
Kelly laughed and hugged Callie tightly and smiled as Natalie wheeled the portable ultrasound machine into the room.
"You guys ready?"
Both Callie and Kelly nod, Natalie turns on the machine and turns to Callie "Can you bring the gown up and push your panties down a bit?"
"Like this?"
Natalie nods "Yes, thank you, this gel maybe cold"
Natalie pours a decent measure of the gel on Callie's stomach, Callie flinches from the cold but looks directly at the screen when instantly there's a tiny bean in the middle of the screen, Natalie smiles and turns to them both.
"Congratulations again I estimate your around eight weeks"
Kelly looks at the screen "Can you get the heartbeat?"
"Not with the machine but let me see if I can get it with my stethoscope"
Natalie removes the stethoscope from around her neck and placed it on Callie's belly, she instantly smiles and hands Kelly the ear pieces first, Kelly listens to the sound and then looks at the screen and then back down to Callie's belly, he hands her the ear pieces and watches as Callie smiles and lays her hands on her belly.
Natalie smiles and hands pictures of the tiny half an inch embryo, Kelly looks at the picture "Our little Bean"
"Kelly I don't want to tell any of them yet, not even our daughters"
Kelly nods "Sure we can wait, twelve weeks is the safety net, am I right Natalie?"
Natalie nods and smiles "Sure just make sure to make an appointment with your OBYN, but I do suggest you tell Chief Boden"
"I guess you're right"
Natalie nods, smiles again and leaves Callie and Kelly in the room, Kelly's smile from one ear to the other, but before leaving the sanctuary of the room he takes the smile from his face and looks unfazed about anything, they both walk out of the room and back towards the waiting area, to find nobody had moved for the few hours it took to determine what exactly caused Callie to faint, Callie and Kelly look at each other smiled, grasped each other's hand and walked into the waiting room.
"God girl you don't do things by half"
"I know, I'm all good though, just stress from being held hostage and seeing Benny again"
Callie looked around the room and found Chief Boden missing "Where's the Chief?"
Everyone went silent and looked everywhere but at Callie, just as Herrmann was going to explain Boden walked back into the room, not seeing Callie or Kelly.
"Nothing's broken, just bruising, that can't be said for Benny's nose though, they are resetting it right… Herrmann why are you waving at me?"
Callie tapped Boden on his shoulder "Thank you"
Callie pulled Boden into a hug and didn't let go until Kelly coughed "Hands of my wife Chief"
Everyone laughed and left the waiting room and headed back to the firehouse, on arrival everyone went the separate ways, Callie and Kelly followed Chief to his office, he hadn't noticed them following and as he turned around to sit at his desk he found them both stood in front of him smiling.
"Could have told me you were behind me"
Callie giggled "Where would the fun be in that?"
"Urm"
Kelly grabbed Callie's hand and smiled at his Chief, the man he classed as his father figure "We have something to tell you Chief"
Boden walked around from his chair and perched himself on the edge of his desk and waved for either Callie or Kelly to continue.
"Well we wanted you to know first"
"Go on"
"We're pregnant, eight weeks"
Boden stood from his position from the desk and pulled them both into a hug, after a brief period of time, Callie and Kelly looked at each other and heard sniffing, Callie pushed back to find the Chief wiping away tears.
"Chief? Wallace what's wrong?"
Boden shakes his head "Nothing Callie, I'm just really happy, closest I'm going to get to a grandchild for the moment"
Kelly laughs "Does that mean your volunteering yourself and Donna for babysitting duties?"
Boden looks at them both and smiles "Donna is going to be over the moon, but I won't tell her till twelve weeks along, I'm honoured"
Kelly grabs Boden's arm "You're the closest thing I have to a father, so pops you happy?"
Boden laughs "Pops? Yeah I'm happy now get back over here and hug this old man"
Kelly and Callie hug Boden and after a few minutes leave him in his office looking like he'd been told he'd won the lottery, everyone else had noticed but didn't ask, if the Chief was happy it meant shift would go swimmingly, well in the firehouse at least, no one could tell what mischief the residents of Chicago would get up to at the drop of a hat, that's what made second shift so interesting.
Three weeks later found Callie sat at the big table nursing a cup of tea and watching as Herrmann read the newspaper, the doors to the apparatus floor opened and Callie instantly recognised Charles and Becky, she stood up, a little too quickly and had to grip the table in front of her, Herrmann noticed and was by her side in an instant.
"Cal you ok?"
"Yeah stood up to fast I'm ok, thanks Herrmann"
Herrmann nodded and sat back down ignoring the newspaper in front of him and watched Callie walk over to the guests.
"Oh my, you both look so well, how are you both?"
Becky hugs Callie "I'm good thanks to you, the doctors said if you hadn't done what you did I'd of lost my foot and with four year old twin boys that wasn't a good thing"
Callie smiles "I'm so happy that you came, hi Charles"
Charlie bows his head "Hello Callie, I've come with a update on Devon"
"How is he?"
"Doing good, out now with community service and a case worker that's going to get him set up for going to San Diego to go live with his sisters"
"Thank you for helping him"
"It wasn't just me, everyone bar the mouthy shop clerk vouched for Devon, we also have a confession to make"
Callie put her hands on her hips "What did you do?"
Before Charles could reply, Boden came around the corner and smiled as he spotted Charles and Becky stood there.
"Glad you could make it today"
"Wouldn't miss this for the world"
Boden handed Charles an envelope and stood beside Callie, Charles stepped forward "As a group who without your calm and reassuring nature the hostage situation could have been much worse, so we got in touch with Chicago Headquarters and well… congratulations Callie this is much deserved"
Charles handed Callie the envelope and once she opened it she found the letter for a invite to receive an award of Valour from the highest ranking Chief in all of the CFD, Callie looked up from the envelope and pulled Becky and Charles into a hug, Boden started clapping which caused everyone to come out from where ever they were.
Boden's smile was from one ear to the other "Well done Cal"
"Thank you Chief, thank you all"
Herrmann sighed in relief "Thank god for that, do you know how hard its been to keep that secret for the past few shifts?"
Mouch pats his best friends back "We all do, you seem to have more grey or your getting old?"
"Hey less of the old"
Kelly smiled at Callie, Callie looked back and gestured to walk into the briefing room, Callie looked at everyone "Can we all go into the briefing room? Chief can you go get Kylie?"
Boden nodded and walked away, Herrmann helped Becky and Charles into the briefing room and stood up at the back of the room, he smiled as Kelly kissed Callie's cheek and smiled out at the room.
Callie smiled at the people she classed as family "We have an announcement to make, were pregnant, eleven weeks, everything is good and we couldn't be happier"
"Severide you'll be beating my record before you know it"
"Thanks Herrmann, our daughters found out this morning and couldn't be happier, their looking forward to the day they can spoil their baby brother or sister"
"What would you prefer Severide?"
"Capp I couldn't care less if the baby was a girl or boy as long as it was healthy"
"Here, here"
Kelly nodded at Herrmann and smiled and laughed as the whole firehouse pulled them into a hug, Stella, Sylvie, Violet and Kylie rubbing Callie's stomach, he took a step back and thought about Shay and how much she'd of liked Callie and would have been the craziest Aunt going, even though he missed his best friend he still smiled at the thought of Shay covered in baby sick and everything else.
It had taken two weeks for the award ceremony to come around and everyone from Firehouse fifty-one was going to be there, Boden had persuading the brass to allow Callie's family and the people she helped to be present, not that he'd told Callie this, he wanted it to be a surprise.
As everyone took their seats Deputy Commissioner Hill took to the stage and walked up towards the podium and microphone, she looks out at the full room and nods towards the security guard on the door, everyone turns and Callie gasps as her, mom, dad, brothers, her daughters, the whole intelligence unit, Becky, Charles, Devon and the rest of the group from the hostage situation entering the room.
Callie looks up at Commissioner Hill who smiles and points at Boden, Boden simply nods and sits back down looking up at Hill, Commissioner Hill looked out at crowd and smiled.
"Welcome and thank you for the attendance, from my knowledge the biggest yet in an awards ceremonies history, without further ado can Chief Wallace Boden please come up to the stage?"
Boden stood from his seat and walked up the stairs and shook Hill's hand and stood in front of the podium.
"I've been asked to read this speech on behalf of everyone that knows Firefighter Western, Callie came to us not so long ago and boy was she a whirlwind, she proved to us immediately what a fantastic firefighter and mother she is, her daughters are with us tonight, hi girls"
Boden waved at Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie and they all blew kisses back, which made those that could see all smile, Boden blew kisses back "Now Callie doesn't like much fuss, so for her to actually sit here is a miracle in itself"
Everyone laughed and Callie nodded "Callie is not only a firefighter in firehouse fifty-one on Truck eighty-one, but a member of our family and a close friend to me. I don't think she realises how important she is too many, all these people are here for you Callie no one else, you deserve it and I'm honoured to call you a friend, colleague and member of my family. Charles Young sums it in this sentence alone 'Callie Western is breath of fresh air, knows her job, knows how to deal with people in strange and sometimes dangerous situations, she took it upon herself to keep calm our young capture, but without her it possibly could have ended differently and I'm proud to know her and call her a friend', now without further delay would Firefighter Callie Western please join me on stage?"
Callie stood up wiping at the tears and walked up onto the stage and pulled Boden into a hug and held his hand on the stage, Commissioner Hill walked towards the microphone and addressed the whole room.
"It's my pleasure to award Firefighter Callie Western with the medal of valour, please step forward"
Callie stepped forward and smiled brightly as Hill pinned the medal to the strap of her dress, Hill pointed to the microphone, Callie stepped forward "Thank you all, I don't think I did anything special? I was doing my job a job that any firefighter would do, but I've been told by my youngest daughter if I don't accept this award she'll run around the room and embarrass me and her dad, so Ellie I accept this award and will wear it with pride of my dress blues always"
Ellie giggled and hi fived Cruz, Callie shook her head and gave the stage back to Hill, who continued to address the room awarding a few more firefighters with awards and then mingled within the crowd, Hill stopped at the table with Stella, Sylvie, Callie, Kylie, Grace, Hollie, Eden and Ellie.
"May I join you?"
"Sure, why do you think were all sat here, heels are a killer"
Grace sighs "I wouldn't know mum wouldn't allow me to wear heels"
Hollie laughs "You wearing heels is like asking dad how to fasten a bra"
"Don't think that's a good example Hols"
Hollie laughs even louder "Oh yeah"
Gloria Hill sits in silence, Stella sees her face "Oh sorry Commissioner, you see Callie here is thirteen weeks pregnant with Kelly Severide's baby, oh and the biggest thing is they are married"
Gloria smiles "Congratulations yet again, wow go you, Kelly Severide of all people"
Callie smiles "I know I got the bad boy of the CFD, go me"
"Mom why did you call dad a bad boy? What does bad boy actually mean?"
Stella, Sylvie, Violet, Kylie, Grace, Hollie and Eden quickly got up from the table and went in different directions, Gloria realising Callie was trying to figure something out to reply to Ellie, Gloria stepped in.
"Ellie, your dad was struggling withing the CFD with authority and was always getting into trouble for one thing or another and well he changed when he met your mom, he's married and had four beautiful daughters and a baby on the way, if he really was such a bad boy now, would he have those things?"
Ellie sat looking at Gloria and nodded "No I suppose not, thank you Commissioner Hill, bye mom"
"Bye darling" Callie smiles as Ellie waves at Gloria and skips away, Callie turns towards Gloria "Commissioner Hill thank you for that, I wasn't sure how to tell my twelve year old daughter about her dads past, she's a daddies girl"
"Call me Gloria and its fine, was nice coming to the rescue"
"Gloria it was much appreciated, best get on the dancefloor, I love flats"
Gloria giggled as Callie showed her the flat ballet shoes and Callie then giggled as Gloria lifted up her dress and was also wearing flats, they parted ways and Callie joined her friends on the dancefloor.
A few hours into the night Callie noticed Devon stood on the side and pulled Kelly with her to introduce him.
"Hi Devon, this is my husband Kelly"
Kelly held out his hand "Glad you could join us, please come join us, don't stand out here on your own"
Devon nodded and followed Kelly back to the big group of people, Devon mixed with the group but his eyes followed Callie everywhere, his heart almost stopped when Callie stopped in front of him.
"Devon would you like to dance with me?"
Devon could only nod and smiled as Callie grabbed his hand and dragged him onto the dancefloor, he noticed Kelly was dancing with the Commissioner, after one dance he rubbed his neck, Herrmann had been watching Devon for quite some time, when Devon walked away and Callie followed, Herrmann kissed Cindy on the cheek and followed.
When Devon got outside he spun around to find Callie right there "Go away"
"Devon talk to me, what's wrong?"
Devon waved his arms around his head "This! All this is wrong"
Callie stepped forward towards Devon "Devon?"
Devon shook his head "You should go back inside before… before…"
"Before what Devon? Talk to me"
Devon stepped back "No!"
Callie stepped forward again and was very close to Devon now "Talk to me, we can work it out"
Devon looked up and then pulled Callie towards him, kissing her and groping her breasts, Callie pushed Devon back "What the hell?"
"Sorry not sorry, I've fallen for you ever since the hostage situation, you kept me sane, I love you"
Callie stepped back further "I'm married and thirteen weeks pregnant, this will never happen"
"I could make you happy"
Callie blew out a breath "I'm happy, I love my husband, so you need to figure this out, I'm off limits"
"But… but…"
"Hey you heard her, now leave!"
Devon looked at Herrmann and then Callie "Ok I'm sorry"
Callie nodded and sighed as Devon walked away, she turned to Herrmann "Thank you, don't tell Kelly"
"I've got you Cal"
Callie nods and hooks her arm through Herrmann's, they walk in together and onto the dance floor to find Cindy dancing with Kelly, the rest of the evening was spent dancing and having fun.
Callie was now at twenty weeks and she felt like a house, she told Kelly repeatedly that she was smaller when pregnant with Grace and Hollie, Kelly would just smile and nod, today was the day they were hoping to find out what sex the baby was, Kelly was like the energizer bunny on steroids, the poor guy had been slapped across the back of the head by Callie several times and they'd only been in the car five minutes.
On arrival at the hospital they got up to maternity and the receptionist laughed as Kelly bounded down the corridor "Good morning, how may I help?"
"Callie Severide here to see Doctor Yu, hopefully we get to find out what the baby is today"
"Yes Kelly, you've told everyone you met, you even told the mailman this morning" Callie turns to the receptionist and smiles "And he says he's not excited"
The receptionist giggles "Please take a seat and Doctor Yu will see you shortly"
Callie nods and sits on the first available chair, Kelly on the other hand wanders around the waiting area, looking at all the posters, he stops at one about breast feeding, he then turns to Callie "You should get some of these blanket things so when you breast feed baby nobody else can see your breasts, they are off limits to anyone else, me and my child whole different matter entirely"
Callie groans and rubs her forehead "Kelly get over here, sit down and shut up!"
Kelly smiles and walks over to the chair beside Callie and he doesn't even get to rest his bum on the chair when Doctor Yu arrives.
"Callie Severide I'm ready for you"
Callie stands up and walks beside Doctor Yu, Doctor Yu looks back at Kelly rubbing his nose and being handed tissues by the receptionist "Mr Severide?"
"Sorry tripped over my feet, I'll replace the plant on the desk, how much do you… what?"
"I don't need the plant replacing Mr Severide, but I am on a tight schedule so could you please follow us"
"Yeah sure sorry"
Kelly joins a giggling Callie and walks into the office of Doctor Yu, once the relevant questions were asked Callie got onto top of the bed and lifted her t-shirt and pushed down her pants, Doctor Yu placed the gel on Callie's stomach and the Severide baby was there ready and waiting.
Doctor Yu nodded "Definitely only one baby in there and congratulations it's a boy!"
Kelly smiled and looked at the screen and the giggled "Definitely a boy, takes after me"
Callie also looks at the screen and then giggles "Oh good lord"
Doctor Yu unfazed "Everything looks good with your son, next time you come your appointment Mr Severide could you leave my plants in one piece?"
"Sure thing"
Callie and Kelly walk out the doctors office and in a daze walk to the car, Callie watches as Kelly sits in the passenger seat beaming with pride.
"Kelly you ok?"
"Yeah couldn't be happier, I have a beautiful wife, four beautiful daughters and my future son, why wouldn't I be happy, you've given me everything I've ever wanted"
"Roman-Shay"
"What?"
Callie turned to Kelly "I think our son needs to be called Roman-Shay Severide, what do you think?"
Kelly burst into tears and pulled Callie into a hug "I think its perfect, she'd of adored him and the girls"
"Roman will know is Aunt Shay just as much as our girls do, that's a promise"
Kelly wiped at his face and they then drove to the firehouse, when they got there and went to get into uniform, when they walked into the common room everyone looked and smiled.
Herrmann vacated his seat "Hey momma, kept it warm for you"
"Aww thanks Herrmann"
"It's nothing"
Stella sits up straighter "So baby girl Severide? Or baby boy Severide?"
Callie looks at Kelly and she nods, Kelly steps into the middle of the room "In four months' time you will get to meet our son Roman-Shay Severide"
Everyone surrounded Kelly in a massive hug, Callie smiled from her chair and was extremely happy.
Eventually it came the time for Callie to hang up her boots for the time being at thirty-seven weeks it took Callie all her time to get out of bed, it did help that Herrmann was out with a shoulder injury so he made sure Callie was ok during the day. Cindy would help Callie out of bed and get ready, Cindy would also take Eden and Ellie to school and then get them afterwards.
Today found Herrmann and Callie in Wilson's getting the last bit of groceries before as Kelly kept saying D-day, you'd think after being slapped five different ways he would have stopped, but no he continued but had now learnt to either run like mad or duck.
Herrmann noticed Callie slowing down "You need a rest?"
"No I need Roman to stop using my kidneys as soccer balls"
"Did I ever tell you that Annabelle actually bruised Cindy's kidneys during pregnancy?"
"No surprisingly its never come up before Herrmann"
Herrmann giggled "Of course, you done?"
"Yeah, thanks for this Christopher"
"So you do know my name then?"
Callie giggles and follows Herrmann to the cash register, once they pay they walk out to the car, Herrmann even though can only do things one handed loaded the trunk and when her got into the passenger side he giggled again at Callie's raised eyebrow. Callie shakes her head and pulls out of the car park, not even a hundred yards away from Wilson's the scene inside the car was sheer horror and then darkness, a dark figure approached the car and lifted an unconscious Callie from the drivers side, leaving Herrmann alone bleeding from his head unaware that Callie had been taken from the car.
