Chapter 11
Thanos proved to be every bit the unstoppable enemy that the Avengers had warned about. In short time he took down every major Goa'uld system lord, he took down the Nox and had attacked the Free Jaffa at will. He attacked the Tok'ra and soon declared himself ruler of the galaxy. What kept the Asgard safe was sheer distance for Thanos would have to travel to another galaxy to attack the civilization at the time.
Lya of the Nox had decided to stay on Earth and in Star Gate Command to assist in any way she could. She was give a room on the base as survivors people were resettled on a new world.
Daniel found himself in a race to figure out where all the stones were before Thanos could. As he researched he came to a startling conclusion. The Infinity Stones were all made by a single race of beings. He called a meeting to disclose his latest finding. The Avengers and SG-1 had gathered in the briefing room. Loki relished in being added to the briefing. He gathered a large mug for his coffee that he found next to the coffee maker on the side table. He was soon confronted by the disgruntle Jaffa who owned the mug.
Teal'c stood before Loki who poured himself a large serving of coffee. Loki seemed oblivious that Teal'c was upset. He greeted, "Ah…the Jaffa." He was about to take a sip when Teal'c removed the mug from his grasp.
Loki stated a bit befuddled, "I was about to drink that."
"The mug belongs to me." Teal'c informed and then took a sip of the coffee that Loki prepared.
"I made that coffee for me." he insisted much like a spoiled child.
Teal'c merely stared at him unenthused.
Jack mentioned from the side of the table, "The big mug belongs to T. Use one of the white mugs."
Loki miffed, "But I wanted the big mug." He grabbed a standard white mug that was much smaller. "Honestly, the only halfway decent beverage your planet has and that big brute gets his own mug."
Teal'c stood even more displeased.
Loki started to tease the Jaffa. He held up the spoon he stirred the coffee with prior and tapped the article against Teal'c shirt as he spouted, "I am a prince. I shall be treated as such. You will come to know your place…"
Teal'c reached up with one hand and grasped Loki's hand holding the spoon. He squeezed hard nearly crushing the hand in a pincer move.
"Ouch," Loki winced. He found Teal'c was much stronger than he assumed.
Teal'c removed the spoon and narrowed his eyes. "I am not your servant." he declared.
Loki stood guarding his hand. "That hurt you brute."
Jack spoke up, "You're lucky that's all he did to you."
Teal'c simply turned and walked away upon placing the spoon back down on the table.
Jack gave a lingering displeased look to Loki and then gave a warning, "You disrespect him like that again…and he will knock your teeth out." He then took his seat at the table.
Thor spoke candidly to his brother. "In this world, brother there is no throne, no rule. Our counterparts do not have a royal family and we do not have a home. This is our home now. We are lucky we have been welcomed with open arms. Do not disappoint me, brother."
Tony and Steve witnessed the event. Upon seating Tony mentioned to Steve, "I guess having a Jaffa is a good trade for a hulk."
Steve spoke to Teal'c, "You showed more restraint than I would have, Teal'c. I would knocked Loki's teeth out if he thumped that spoon on my chest."
Teal'c stated, "A simple correction in behavior was all that was required at the time. However, I will not be as lenient next time." he warned Loki.
Daniel stood at the white board before the audience waiting for everyone to settle down.
Jack knew that once the white board came out, it was going to be a long meeting. He debated getting a pillow but figured that would be tacky. He sat waiting.
As his audience settled Daniel began to list the names and colors of the Infinity Stones on the board. He started, "As you all know there are six stones that Thanos is looking for. I have listed those here on the board. But, what I discovered in a book written by Professor Lee called the Sorcerer Supreme, there are more than six stones. There are thirteen stones in total."
Tony gasped, "Did anyone else know there are thirteen stones?" He looked to his friends.
Steve admitted, "This is news to me."
Loki confessed, "Of course there are thirteen stones. I knew that."
Thor snorted, "And you didn't tell me, brother?"
The trickster confessed, "I saw no need too."
Daniel continued as he wrote out the additional stones on the whiteboard, "The thirteen stones are: genesis, evolution, death, chaos, war, power, space, time, mind, soul, reality and ego." He turned back around to face the audience. "Each stone has its own unique qualities and you can combine them in different combinations for different goals or outcomes. For example if you take the genesis stone and combine that with space, time, reality and evolution you can actually create a planetary system. You would have the power of god to create things."
Sam spoke up, "That would be incredible."
He added, "The stones be themselves are powerful but in the right combination you can create suns, entire planets, life, realities or…just the opposite and destroy entire solar systems."
Thor figured, "We could create a new Asgard."
Daniel agreed, "The stones could save and entire civilization on brink of extinction." He looked to Tony, "It could send you back home to your own time and reality. It could…" he pondered the sheer power, "bring back the dead…" he looked to his friends.
Jack asked, "As much as I would love that idea…is it a good idea?"
He explained, "Universe would dictate those terms. The stones are just the key to opening the power of the universe itself. Think of each stone as a key to a power hidden in the universe. It's not the stone that hold's the power, it merely unlocks it."
Teal'c stated, "If one were to posses all thirteen stones one would have the power of god."
Daniel gave a hard nod, "Yes."
Steve added, "Thanos did a lot of damage with just six stones. I can't imagine what he will do with all thirteen."
"That would be bad." Tony and Jack stated in unison. The pair traded glances surprised.
Tony stated, "Don't do that." to Jack.
"Do what?" he asked.
"Say what I am saying." he insisted.
"You were saying what I was saying." he retorted.
"Gentleman…" Hammond gave warning.
Tony crossed his arms and puckered in disgust for Jack at times reminded him of himself.
Steve stated amused to Tony, "So you will listen to Hammond but not me, huh."
Tony gave a displeased look to the Captain.
Steve admitted, "It's kind of refreshing seeing you like this, Tony."
He cocked his head unsure what Steve was getting at.
He explained, "No money! No Stark Industries, No JARVIS, no media fawning over you, no fancy cars and jets. Just you being a regular guy and taking orders from General Hammond."
Jack couldn't help but ask, "How rich was Stark?"
Steve stated, "He was a billionaire. He had everything! The lab he had for his suit was state of the art. He had it all…literally."
Tony insisted, "And things got done. The minute the government takes something over it all falls apart. I gave my blood, my sweat, me tears and my life to stop Thanos and protect Earth. Something even SHIELD failed to do."
"Might I remind you that there is no SHIELD here, Mr. Stark." Hammond informed. "And as to your suit, I got a lab set aside for you and Major Carter to work in on your suit. Major Carter's request to build the Arc reactor using naquadah was approved."
Tony looked at Sam, "What?"
Sam explained, "If we use naquadah in the Arc reactor that you developed, it will be one hundred times more powerful and we can give the suits ion shields. I've submitted blue prints for a new suit that will have deep space capabilities. Your suit Tony will make a great space suit for the deep space the X-301 we are currently developing. We are going to put your suit on a deep space battle ship."
He asked, "When were you going to tell me this?"
She blushed, "I got you a lab and I wanted it to be a surprise. I know how down you've been feeling and I thought a little surprise would cheer you up."
He softly replied, "Thank you, Sam."
"You're welcome." she assured.
Daniel asked, "Can I continue with my presentation now?"
Jack agreed, "Thirteen stones! Got it!"
"We only got one stone. Thanos has another. There are eleven more stones to find and we have to get the stone from Thanos." he figured. "Lya stated she believes one stone was hidden by the Ancients on Atlantis…"
Tony and Jack both spoke at once, "Atlantis?" They glared at each other once more.
"Stop that!" Tony insisted.
"You stop it." Jack rebutted. "I'm older than you."
Teal'c observed, "You both appear to be the same age."
Jack shook his head, "Time travel. Stark is Carter's age."
Sam suddenly realized that Tony was indeed her age. She agreed, "He would be my age." She pondered aloud, "I wonder what I was doing in Tony's reality when Thanos attacked? I would be 20 years older than I am now."
Tony figured, "I think you are a General. I remember reading the name General Carter in some reports and she's female."
"That doesn't mean for sure I am her." she countered. "Carter is a common name."
Tony figured, "There is not a lot of female Generals. I bet that's you."
She grinned, "General…I like the sound of that."
Loki stated, "This is touching but how do we find this…Atlantis place?"
Daniel stated, "We don't know where it is. All we have is accounts by a man named Plato who said it was island that sunk."
"Well, that sucks." Loki pouted.
Daniel made a request, "Professor Lee is still alive. He's a older man but I would like to interview him and see if there is anything else he can tell us." He looked to Hammond for permission.
Hammond approved, "Take Major Carter and Captain Rogers with you, Dr. Jackson. Dismissed."
