Invasion
Kitana was sent back to her own timeline, inhaling sharply as she looked around at the familiar palace. She touched her face, feeling the soft skin of her fingers reminding her she wasn't just dreaming. She looked around for a sign that anyone else was in the palace beside her, but to no avail. Everything seemed abandoned from what Kitana could tell. Something insider her told her something was off, but she couldn't quite figure what. Her tall heels clicked against the marbled floor, as she made her way out the font of the doors, her brows knitted downwards in confusion. As she stepped outside, she found Jade, talking with Kotal Kahn. Kitana had found it best to leave Kotal as a advisor to her board. She had a fondness for his ruling but knew of his biases.
"Jade!" Kitana called, running up to her and offering her a hug, as they embraced lightly.
"Where have you been? What happened? We've been sending forces out to locate you. " Jade asked, reeling herself back, as she looked into her eyes, worry evident.
"There is much to explain, and I fear there is something else conspiring." She said, motioning for Kotal and Jade to follow her back into the palace.
Days later, Barraka sat in the Tarkatans colony, his bladed forearms rested at his sides, as he took in what the figure in front of him was saying. After Kitana had remolded the timelines, she made it so that the Tarkatans became more of a normality. Their alliance was well accepted amongst all of outworld, and they became a powerful ally to the nation. While Kitana was a well revered leader, many opposed her rule in favor for some one more tyrannical in nature.
"You're telling me you would make a better leader?" Barraka responded, as he snarled at the figure he couldn't quite recognize.
The man stepped forward, his entourage lay just outside of view. His hair lay to one side beneath a headband, slicked, greasy and dark. His nose seemed to miss its crook, one nostril much larger than the other, assumingly not by design. His cheeks were missing the outer layer of skin, stretched, burned, and bloodied were the tissue that left more of his teeth exposed. He gave what Barraka assumed to be a smile.
"Yes. Of much more than your feeble mind could comprehend." Havik said, as his eyes held a sense of cockiness within them.
"And how would the Tarkatans benefit from overthrowing Kitana? Her forces and allies out number us." He said, narrowing his own eyes at the man cautiously.
"Me and my...friends," Havik moved his hand, as Tanya, clad in blue fighting attire similar to Kitana's moved from behind him. Following suit was Quan Chi, dressed as sub-zero, a frosty aura surrounding his person, and Kenshi, his hair in a Mo-hawk like state, his trusted sword still slung behind his back, although his open chest was adorned with scars. "have taken care of Kitana Kahns allies. Queen Sheeva and the Shokan are on our side. Anyone else who opposed us were disposed if. You needn't worry about them." Havik stated, before continuing.
"You deal with Kitana, and I promise that you will be the one to rule outworld. Do not, and I have no need for you." He said, before walking off, Quan Chi, Tanya, and Kenshi followed, as they vanished in a flash of light.
Barraka stood, coming to his feet, as he walked towards the exit of the colony, turning to one of the Tarkatans stationed. "Send a rider to Queen Sheeva. We kill the Kahn tonight."
Kitana had explained the situation to Jade and Kotal, as the three of them discussed the new ongoing issues within the Realm, as Lei Mei approached them.
"Empress, there is word that the Tarkatans and the Shokan are marching upon the capital." She said, bowing before the Kahn.
"What? But we have an agreement! Jade, send for Raiden and the earth realm allies. I will deal with the matter at hand." Kitana said, standing from her throne. Tanya followed closely behind, as they met the group of rallied fighters.
"Kitana! Your rein ends now." Barraka sneered, preparing himself, as the Outworlds royal army prepared behind them.
Kitana gasped, as she recognized a face among the Tarkatans. Her face had a mask on it, obscuring the lower half, but she knew it was Mileena. Her deformed "sister" had her sais at the ready, as she stood beside Barraka. When Kitana had re-made the timeline, Mileena was outcasted due to her "infection". Shao Khan, whom was on Kitana's advisory and general alongside Jade, had vanished when Sindel and Mileena were outcasted into the Tarkatan colony. Kitana had sent scouts to keep tabs on her mother and sister, but news had reached that Sindel was no longer to be found, Mileena left to be on her own. Kitana had her suspicion but was unable to conclude what had actually transpired between the makeshift family.
"What are you doing Barraka? I have always treated the Tarkatans fairly! And you, Sheeva, have always been loyal to the throne!" Kitana exclaimed, her fans strapped to her legs at the ready.
"Well, dear daughter, Sheeva has always been loyal to ME. And we all know you are not fit to rule the throne. It was MY destiny." A voice boomed from behind both of the armies.
Kitana recognized that voice. The voice that had haunted her for eons to come. It was her mother. The same woman that had killed her father, that had given her will to Shao Khan, that had betrayed her. Her eyes clouded over, as a mixture of fear and resentment filled her heart. Sindel, the woman in question stepped forward, clad in her purple battle attire, the same crown that had sat on her head many years ago had found its way back to her. Kitana's only question was how. Anything from the previous timeline should have been erased. Destroyed.
"What are you talking about?" Kitana said through gritted teeth, as Skarlet, Nitara, and the Kollector approached behind the woman.
"Shang Tsung told us everything. You are a keeper of time, and you have changed my destiny for your own personal gain. I am the rightful ruler of outworld, and with Shao Khan and Mileena by my side, we will reclaim the thrown." She said, before she was interrupted.
"I do not think so." Lui Kang said, as he stepped in front of Kitana, holding his fists up.
Raiden, whom was now much younger and mortal was with him, along with earth realm movie star, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and a seeing Kenshi Takahashi. With them was also two Special Forces agents Sonya Blade and Jackson Briggs. The alliance made under Kitana between Earthrealm and Outworld made sure the Mortal Kombat conditions were upheld. If Kitana was overthrown, it would jeopardize the safety of Earthrealm.
"You think these human Earthrealm scum are a match for our forces?" Sheeva said, clenching her fists into a ball.
"Well, these Earthrealm scum are going to kick your ass, Lady." Johnny said, before the sides met in battle.
Much blood was drawn from both sides, as she watched her mother and Shao Khan eliminate many of her allies as he did so long ago. Tanya had stepped in front of her to protect her, as Mileena attempted to latch onto the girl. Li Mei was in combat with Sheeva, as her forces were continuing the battle with the Shokan. She once again watched as Lui Kang was fighting Shao Kahn, and Sonya was in battle with Sindel.
"This can't be happening." Kitana mumbled to herself, as she slowly began to back up. Her entire work to ensure the peace of her timeline had been destroyed, and she couldn't rest knowing that an external force was running rampant upon other timelines.
"Elder Gods forgive me." She said, as she ran straight through the onslaught.
She used her bladed fans to slice through whomever stood in her way, as she ran to reach the large hourglass that she had placed under Geras's watch. It sat in the Sky Temple, which was once Raiden's place of meditation.
"Kitana! What is this about?" He said, surprised as she ran towards him in a blur.
"We may have defeated the Shang Tsung of Lui Kangs timeline, but I fear there are still evil works at play. Someone has tampered with the will of my doing, and I am afraid they are wreaking havoc among other timelines." She explained, as she pointed her hands at the hourglass.
"I shall accompany you-" Geras started, but wasn't able to finish his sentence.
"No. I need you to stay here and ensure that this timeline follows what I have destined for it. Please, Geras. You must make sure that the realm doesn't fall into the hands of Shao Kahn again." Kitana said, pleading with him. Geras only nodded, before leaving to attend to the matters of the battle in which they were speaking about.
Kitana looked back at the hourglass, sucking in a deep breath of air. She had only been summoned from one timeline, never had she jumped between timelines, as nerves filled her body. She tried to locate Lui Kang, but was unable to control her thoughts, as Mileena came running up.
"You won't escape your fate, sister." Her last word was filled with venom, as she threw Tanya's head to the ground in front of her.
Kitana had managed to open a portal, unsure of where it would take her. She blindly leapt in, shutting her eyes tightly. Wind gushed passed her, gently throwing the whisps of her hair around. She felt it was cold for a second, before a blinding light flooded her vision. She opened her eyes, blinking to adjust to the difference. There she spotted Lui Kang, standing facing away from her, as he was talking to Kung Lao. Without a second thought, she ran up to him, hugging him tightly.
"Oh, how I have missed you!" She exclaimed, waiting for his response but none was given. She looked up at him, only to be met with a confused look.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think we have met?" He said, prying her arms off of him.
"What- what do you mean? It is I, Kitana." She said, desperately trying to have him remember her.
"I do not know of a Kitana." He said, before turning to look at Kung Lao, who offered him a shrug.
"Please Lui Kang, you must remember me! There is something amiss and I'm afraid it will destroy Earthrealm in multip-" She tried to express, but it fell on deaf ears.
"There is no more Earthrealm. The two have merged under Empress Sindel and Emperor Shao Kahns rule years ago." Kung Lao said, giving the girl a puzzled look.
"This...this cannot be." She said reaching up to grab her head as the world began spinning.
There was a timeline where Sindel and Shao Kahn had continued to rule? Where was Raiden? Lui Kang just allowed this to happen? Where was she? There was no way to go back unless she found the Keeper of Time in this timeline and the hourglass. She still needed to warn of the impending doom of the timelines anyhow.
"Please, you must tell me. Where is the Keeper of Time?" Lui Kang just gave Kung Lao a weird look, as the both of them turned towards Kitana once again.
"We do not know what that is but- Princess!" Lui Kang was beginning but stopped suddenly to drop his head and bow.
"Sister?"
This was another attempt to show what happened after the MK1 battle in Kitana's timeline. If you have any suggestions leave a review and let me know! :)
