Peter entered the office and found his way to his mother's new office. After winning the election last year, being the mayor has begun taking up much of her time. But it also helped a lot of things, especially keeping a lot of the cops off of the back of the Vigilantes. And any information that she learns about vigilantes she usually finds a way to sneak it to Peter and his friends considering most of them are either inspired by Spider-Man, or she thinks have powers like them. Of all of the wannabe vigilantes out there, only two of them have shown any signs of having powers.
In the recent murder case of an innocent boy, one of the suspects has been given the nickname Ghost-Spider. This is due to the mysterious nature of the suspect, who leaves no trace of their movements and disappears without a trace. Not to mention it has been confirmed that she is skilled and has Spider powers similar to their own. Meaning that she could be one of the many people who were bitten by the Oscorp spiders that escaped. It is this elusiveness that has made the investigation challenging and left law enforcement grasping at straws to solve the case.
The other one was about a mysterious girl who has become a legend in the Glades. According to the rumors, this girl had been seen running around and taking down anyone who was involved in illegal activities such as selling drugs or weapons in the area. What made this story even more intriguing to Peter was the choice of costume that the girl had been described to be wearing. The false Spider Suit she wore was made out of bits and pieces from different suits, and her upper half was the same as Peter's, with a red outline and black webbing. Unlike Peter's suit, she did not have sleeves, but the suit did have gloves that went down to her elbows. The lower half of her outfit was the same as Peter's, but instead of a full mask to cover her face, she wore a domino mask. The rumors also suggested that this girl was more violent than the other Spiders and that she was ruthless when dealing with criminals. Although she did not kill anyone, some have been hospitalized as a result of her actions.
Walking into his mother's office, he found she was just finishing a phone call when he entered. "Thank you so much, it is so nice to hear that. This will make a great difference in the city. Goodbye." She then turned from the window and smiled when she saw her youngest child. "Hey, dear."
"Hey, Mom," Peter said as he walked in and took a seat as his mother did the same.
"I just wanted to check in, see how you were doing," Moria explains. "So...is everything okay?"
Peter sighed as he laid back in the seat as the past few days had taken their toll on him and his friends. "No." He decided to just confess everything. "I mean, there is a lot to take care of in this city. I am trying to get a leg up in this whole Ghost-Spider case, I am still trying to learn more about this Jackpot girl. That...Spider...Woman in the Glades is causing a bit of a problem. Anya is pushing herself too hard to try and be a better hero." He then sighed and laid his head on the desk as he remembered the worst of all. "And Miles..."
"He is still looking for Martin Li?" Moria took a guess.
Peter stood up and groaned as he felt the weight of the world returning. "Yes. And I get why. I mean, he murdered Officer Davis, heck I don't even know what happened to his partner. Officer Barton disappeared, and I can't find him. His daughter still comes by FEAST every once in a while."
"That certainly is a lot on your plate." Moria had to agree her son did have a lot of responsibilities.
"And there is Lance." Peter sighed as he remembered what happened. "That monster...what he did to her..."
"Why don't you tell him?" Moria asks.
"I can't tell him." Peter denied that. "Oliver said it would be best not to yet. And I don't want to have him going after...it."
"The thing that broke into Iron Heights?" Moria took a guess what he was referring to.
"It's dangerous, mom." Peter tried to explain the seriousness of the situation. "It learns. It remembers. It remembers what I did to it and is coming after everyone I love. I was there when it killed her, and I couldn't do anything to save her."
"Then all we can do is prepare ourselves and hope to be ready to fight it," Moria told to him. "And by that, I of course mean you. I have no way of defending myself like that."
Peter nodded and knew that there wasn't much he could do until he showed up again. "There is...another thing." He knew this was the scariest thing of them all. "Something has been happening to me."
"What?" Moria asks, worried about her son.
"I haven't been feeling right the past few days. It was like I have been having random headaches, dizziness, and even a few times I have blacked out." Peter explains everything that happened. "So, I had Ray Palmer, this new guy that Walter hired, he looked over my DNA - well, he thinks it's Spider-Man's - but he ran a few tests, and he discovered something. Mom, my body hasn't finished mutating. My powers are growing...and I don't know how to stop it or when it will stop. Or what I might become..."
