Chapter 2: Dinner with the Newlyweds

O.O.O

You're not dreaming. I did continue this series. Check the notes at the end for more details.

O.O.O

Rei stopped as she took a look at herself in the mirror. She was standing in her bedroom wearing only her underwear, trying to get ready for the dinner she had promised to attend. She was wearing her second best pair of bra and panties, a purple bra with matching bikini panties with exquisite embroidery on them. She couldn't bring herself to wear her best set as it made her feel like she was expecting a three way to occur but she still wanted to look her best.

"This is a huge mistake," Rei shook her head as she turned from the mirror to her bed. She had laid out several different outfits but she still couldn't find the one which felt right to wear over for dinner. She decided to not wear her best underwear or her best outfit as she thought it would lean too heavily into the idea something would actually happen tonight. She knew it wouldn't. She didn't want to get her hopes up and she didn't want her better outfit tainted with the bad luck of the terrible experience she knew was coming. "Just pour your heart out to them, get rejected, and move on with your life. Easy enough."

O.O.O

"Rei-chan!" Usagi sang as she opened the door and let her friend into the house. "Thank you so much for coming!"

"Thanks for having me," Rei replied, holding up a small bag. "I brought a cake for dessert."

"Rei, you shouldn't have," Usagi squealed as she took the bag. "Of course, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when it's cake. Come in."

"Dinner will be ready in a moment," Mamoru announced from the kitchen.

"Thank you so much for coming Rei," Usagi insisted as she led Rei to the couch in the living room, placing the cake on the coffee table. "I was hoping we could talk about something."

"Oh," Rei gulped, already not liking where this conversation was going. "About what?"

"Well…about you," Usagi fidgeted with her skirt as she tried to find the right words. "You've seemed distracted lately."

"I…," Rei swallowed, trying to form a good excuse for her recent behavior. Unfortunately, her mind was distracted by how adorable Usagi looked in the skirt and blouse she was wearing. Shaking her head, Rei tried to focus. "I've just been distracted by my certification exam. IF I don't pass it, my Grandpa is going to have to delay his retirement."

"I understand that but…," Usagi hesitated as she decided to tackle the issue head on. "But it seems like you have been acting differently around me since I got married."

"Food's ready," Mamoru announced as she came back into the room. He could immediately sense the tension hanging in the room. "Everything okay?"

"Rei, I know you're under a lot of stress," Usagi pointed out, not taking her eyes off her friend. "But you have to know just because I'm married now doesn't change our friendship."

"Yes it does," Rei disagreed, wanting to make her point clear. "You two finally have achieved a bond to help you stay together through all the trials the universe throws at you. You don't need anyone around who could have that bond."

"Harm our bond?" Mamoru wondered, glancing at Usagi who had a look of concern in her eyes. "Rei…I don't think you'd ever intentionally do anything to harm our marriage."

"Well," Rei stumbled, trying to find the right words. "I think I will,"

"Rei, what are you talking about?" Usagi asked, a deep look of concern on her face. She moved close and sat next to Rei on the couch. "Your not making any sense. Why won't you tell me what's wrong?

Rei sighed, "Because you're married."

"What does us being married have to do with our friendship or your problem?" Usagi demanded, tears starting to form in the corner of her eyes.

"Because I love you damn it!" Rei shouted before throwing her arms around Usagi and pulling her close. She buried her face in the valley between Usagi's neck and shoulders, keeping her eyes shut to stop any tears from falling. "I love you so damn much I can't stand having these feelings anymore.

"Rei…I," Usagi muttered. She was taken back unable to process what was happening. From how hard Rei clung to her and how high her arms were around her it was clear this wasn't the love someone had for a good friend.

"When," Mamoru interrupted, clearing his throat. He also didn't know how to react to the raven haired beauty's confession. "When did you realize you had these feelings?"

"A long time ago," Rei confessed, lifting her head from Usagi to look at Mamoru. Her amethyst eyes couldn't contain the tears anymore and they began to cascade down her cheeks. "And it's not just her. I love you too Mamoru. Very, very much."

"Me?" Mamoru wondered, pointing at his chest. "Really?"

"Please stop it," Rei begged, separating from Usagi to bury her face in her hands. "Can you two stop being so damn adorable and oblivious at the same time? It just hurts even more and makes me want to love you both even harder."

"Rei," Usagi whimpered as she watched her friend. Seeing her in so much pain made her heart tighten.

"Usagi, please," Rei sniffed, the tears flowing freely. They began to smear mascara around her eyes and the rogue on her cheeks. "I'm begging you. Use the silver crystal. Take away these feelings."

"I…I…I," Usagi bumbled, trying to find the right words or frankly any words to offer a halfway decent response.

"I hate it so much. To have so much love and can't be able to express it. The last thing I'd want is to be like Beryl or Dimande and destroy the love you two shared. Please…you have to."

No one spoke and the room filled with the gentle sobs of Rei. Usagi and Mamoru exchanged glances before looking at Rei and turning back towards each other. Mamoru jerked his head towards the kitchen and Usagi nodded in response.

"Rei," Mamoru began, as he stood up. "Usagi and I need to discuss something in the other room. Please, we'd like you stay while we take a moment to process this."

Rei didn't remove her hands and only nodded sharply in response.

"So…," Usagi sighed once she was alone with Mamoru. "What exactly do we do?"

"I…I don't know," Mamoru shrugged, exhaling sharply himself. "You wouldn't use the crystal on her right?"

"Oh god no. I still feel bad about the time I stripped away your memories just so I could be a normal girl for half a second," Usagi cringed, remembering what happened after her battle with Queen Beryl. "I don't feel comfortable messing with people's minds."

"So…what do we do then?" Mamoru asked, running his hand through his hair. "It's Rei. WE can't just ignore a confession like that and hope it goes away."

"Yeah," Usagi agreed, with a nod. "And it's not like we could extend an offer to join us."

The kitchen filled with silence as Mamoru turned for a moment to check the food in the oven.

"Can't we?" Mamoru wondered, trying to speculate what could be done.

"I thought we took that kind of talk off the table because it made you feel uncomfortable," Usagi reminded him.

"No," Mamoru shrugged. "I mean not entirely. I just wasn't okay with the idea of Seiya joining us."

"Ah yes, that was a train wreck," Usagi winced as she remembered the disastrous dinner they had when they invited the idol over. They had barely hinted at the invention of Seiya to participate in a threesome before Seiya had looked straight into Mamoru's eyes and asked "How do you feel about humiliation play? Or the idea of me taking Odango away for a weekend just the two of us?"

The entire interaction had soured the married couple on the idea of inviting anyone to be a part of their marriage bed.

"I know," Mamoru added, pulling the dish from the oven and putting it on a trivet. "But I mean I'm still open to the idea of having someone participate…especially if it helps with your needs."

"Mamo-chan," Usagi cooed, gently brushing her hand over her husband's cheek. "Just because I'm bisexual doesn't mean I have to be with a woman to be happy. I love our marriage."

"So do I," Mamoru replied, giving his wife's hand a kiss. "But if we had someone we could trust who would allow you to have those experiences."

"I mean it does sound incredible," Usagi commented, as she thought about it for a second. "And like you said…it's Rei."

"Truthfully if it was anyone else I'd still be hesitant," Mamoru reflected, a smile forming as he thought about it more. "But with her I'd be willing to give it a try."

O.O.O

Rei hated waiting. The sensation reminded her of being back in the hospital as she sat next to her mothers's bed while she kept hoping she would recover. Just as she felt her heart would explode from her chest, the door to the kitchen opened and the married couple walked back into the living room and on the other couch.

"Rei," Mamoru began, clearing his throat. "We're curious. What are you suggesting?'

"Suggesting?" Rei asked, unsure of what Mamoru was talking about. "I mean, I'm asking you to wipe my mind and make me stop loving you both."

"Yeah well we're not going to do that," Usagi replied, shaking her head. "We're not into brainwashing anyone. So…what do you want to do? I mean if you could do anything, without ramifications, what would you want to do?"

"I…I'd like to be with you. Both of you," Rei hesitated, trying to collect herself. This was not how she thought the night would turn out.

"So…sex?' Mamoru wondered, immediately kicking himself for the question coming out so bluntly. "Sorry. That was a little more direct than I wanted it to be."

"No, well I mean yes, but not now…I mean…this is an awkward conversation to have," Rei swallowed, her mind still unable to form a full sentence of what she wanted. "I mean I'd love to have sex with you two..but I mean…"

"Just say it Rei," Usagi insisted as she reached over and grabbed Rei's hand. She squeezed it affectionately and rubbed her thumb over Rei's knuckles. "Tell us what your ideal situation would be."

"The truth is….," Rei paused for a moment trying to find the best words to make her point. "I love both of you in ways I can't express and…I'd know you're married but…I guess…I'd like to date you two…No that sounds stupid."

"No, it doesn't," Mamoru disagreed, giving Rei a confident smile. "I think it is a great idea. Let's try dating."

"Really?" Rei gasped, her heart feeling like a weight had been lifted off it.

"Sure. I mean we were willing to suggest trying something together and given how close you are to us," Usagi beamed, liking where the conversation was going. "We'd be willing to make you our girlfriend. How does that sound?"

"I…I…," Rei stammered as she worked to maintain her composure. This proved to be a losing battle as tears formed in her eyes. "I'd love it."

"Oh Rei," Usagi cooed as she jumped over the coffee table and wrapped her arms around Rei. "It's okay. You don't have to cry."

"I can't help it," Rei admitted as she returned the hug and buried her face in the valley between Usagi's neck and shoulders. "I was so prepared for anger and resentment. I wasn't ready for you both to be willing to open your hearts to me."

"We'll probably need to consult with someone on how to proceed on such a relationship," Mamoru speculated as he watched the affectionate exchange between his wife and his new girlfriend. "Luckily we just happen to know some individuals who are in a throuple."

"Wait, who do we know that's in a throuple?" Usagi asked. She glanced between Rei and Mamoru who were giving her the most dumbfounded expressions they could muster. "What, I really don't know who you're talking about."

"You're kidding right?" Rei groaned.

"What?" Usagi wondered, puffing out her cheeks in annoyance.

"Usako," Mamoru sighed. "Did you forget Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna?"

"What?!" Usagi gasped, her eyes going wide. " …Setsuna is a part of their relationship?"

"Alright, I guess I can see where you wouldn't catch it immediately," Mamoru admitted, with a shrug. "I mean the way Michiru and Haruka hang over each other it's hard to think of them letting someone else in. But I kinda caught Michiru and Setsuna under the mistletoe last christmas. It wasn't a chaste kiss to say the least. Setsuna squeezed Michiru's ass in the process."

"We can get in touch with them for some advice later," Rei suggested, as stood up. "Why don't we eat dinner first before we do anything else?"

"Good idea Rei-chan," Usagi smiled, looking between her and Mamoru. "Why don't we just enjoy each other's company now for a bit?"

O.O.O

The rest of the night was incredibly pleasant. After the delicious dinner, the three of them played a game of cards. The tense atmosphere was gone and the three of them were able to truly enjoy each other's company.

"It's getting late," Rei announced after winning the game of rummy. "I guess I should get going."

"Are you sure you don't want to stay overnight?" Usagi asked, squirming in her seat. She didn't want Rei to leave just yet. "You could borrow one of Mamoru's shirts to sleep in. Trust me they are very comfortable."

"I think that's going a bit too fast," Rei admitted, with a smile. The idea of sleeping over and being a cuddle pile was tempting but she was still overwhelmed by the direction events had transpired. "I mean I'm glad we are going to try…something but…I really just need some me time to process all these."

"We understand," Mamoru expressed as they all stood up and walked Rei to the door. "It was wonderful to have you and we'll text you tomorrow."

"I look forward to it," Rei admitted as she slipped her shoes back on. She turned and couldn't help but give a polite bow as she prepared to leave. "I truly enjoyed our evening together."

"Is that anyway to say goodbye?" Usagi asked in a huff. Before Rei could question what she meant, Usagi stepped forward, grabbed Rei by the chin, tilted her head up, and kissed her. Rei's eyes went wide for a moment before she got lost in the sensation of the kiss and closed her eyes.

Mamoru smiled as he watched the two women. The kiss on the lips continued, resulting in the two wrapping their arms around each other, and pulling one another close. Before long, Mamoru saw Usagi's jaw move a bit to deepen the kiss and slip her tongue into Rei's mouth. The sensation caused a soft moan to radiate from Rei's throat as she got lost in the kiss.

When they finally broke apart, Rei stumbled back until her back hit the door. She was panting like she had just run a marathon.

"That was…," Rei gasped, trying to process what happened. Her hands flew to her cheeks as she felt them become incredibly warm. Her tongue danced softly on her lips trying to capture any bit of Usagi's taste lingering there. "...heavenly."

"Mamo-chan," Usagi purred, looking over her shoulder at her husband. "Aren't you going to say goodbye to our guest?"

"Oh…of course," Mamoru agreed, shaken out of his shock. He approached Rei and covered his hands over hers still nestled on her cheeks. He raised her head to look deep into her eyes. "May I?"

"Please," she begged in litter more than a whisper. Closing her eyes, Rei again released a moan of pleasure in her throat as she kissed the man she had loved for so long. The kiss did not deepen but it was still just as impactful as the kiss Usagi had given her. Mamoru seemed to be pouring his energy into her as he kissed her and was healing the strain her body had endured from so much worry. As they broke the kiss, Rei's head reclined until it was again the door and she was staring at the ceiling. "Does he always kiss like he's pouring his energy into you?"

"Not every time," Usagi giggled, amused by Rei's reaction. "He saves those kisses for when he knows I've had a long day or when he wants to make sure I am ready for a night of passion."

"I assure you," Mamoru began as he took a step back. "That kiss was just to help remove the exhaustion you've felt lately. I thought it might help with your studies."

"Y-Yeah, I think it will," Rei agreed, trying to ignore how her body was burning all over. Part of her wanted to tackle both of the newlyweds to the ground but the responsible side of her insisted it was best to just return home. "I should go now. I'm already pushing my luck here. Good night."

Without saying another word, Rei left the house. Both Usagi and Mamrou watched the door for a moment before they turned and looked at each other. They could each see how the other's cheeks were flushed.

Mamoru cleared his throat. "Usako. Are you…"

"God yes, Mamo-chan," Usagi groaned, reaching down and pulling her sweater over her head. "Take me to bed please."

Mamoru did as instructed, throwing his wife over his shoulder, and making a beeline towards their bedroom. They would need to take care of their own needs before they worried about the needs of their new girlfriend.

A/N: For all those who have been waiting for the next chapter of this story: I DEEPLY APOLOGIZE! Your faith has been rewarded though as I NEVER give up on any of my series. But like I said in the first chapter, this is the series at the end of backburner. This puts it behind Royal Affairs, Choker of Love, and the Birthday Week prompts. It will get done though. I intend this to be a slow burn and won't get spicy for several chapters. It will get spicy though I promise.

I may or may not be able to get another chapter done before the end of the year. I wil work on getting it done before it's another year before I put out a chapter. Reviews are love and they help me keep keep going.
