Biography:
Next to nothing is known about the childhood of Spike Spiegel. It's believed that his parents died when he was very young, leaving him completely alone, but he won't talk on the subject.
It's a known fact that he was born on Mars in 2044 AD, and that he joined the Martian crime syndicate Red Dragons when he was very young. While with the Red Dragons, Spike met Vicious, his comrade in arms, and a beautiful woman named Julia. The three of them eventually entered a complex love triangle.
Spike grew tired of the life of a criminal and tried to get Julia to leave with him. Vicious saw this as a betrayal and coldly swore revenge on Spike. Fleeing the Red Dragons, Spike partnered with former police agent Jet Black, owner of the Bebop spaceship. The two men enjoyed as long association as freelance bounty hunters, eventually joined by conwoman and gambler Faye Valentine, child hacker 'Radical Ed', and Ein, an enhanced super intelligent lab animal.
After a time, Julia returned to Spike's life, pursued by Vicious, who had taken over the syndicate. Spike tried to escape with her, but one of Vicious' henchmen shot her dead. Enraged, Spike killed the man and his partners and, ignoring the warnings of Faye and Jet, attacked Vicious' fortress on his own, getting badly wounded in the process. Spike made it to Vicious and killed him, then collapsed dead at the feet of Vicious' remaining mobsters.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance: E+
A Skill that grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
The only factor lifting the rank from the absolute minimum fixed by the class container is the friendship Rider had during his life with an old shaman. Perhaps his blessings have accompanied Rider even as a Heroic Spirit. Otherwise, Rider never faced the supernatural before being summoned.
Riding: B++
Rider is an excellent spaceship pilot (see Noble Phantasm below). He's also optimal at driving land motor vehicles, and if needed to he also can ride horses and man boats, even if he rarely if ever touched either in life.
Dragons and phantasmal beasts are not a viable riding alternative.
Personal Skills:
Jeet Kune Do: A
Rider's favorite style of Martial Arts, a style suited to his lean, wiry frame and long limbs. It was the style employed by movie superstar Bruce Lee, whom Rider seems to respect and even imitate to some degree.
He mixes this style with high kicks from Japanese kickboxing, which he also favors.
Sleight of Hand: A
The aptitude to move one's hands in ways to deceive the sight. A combination of quick nimble fingers and the fine art of distracting your target while you perform what you want under their nose.
It can be used to win card games, cheat at games of chance, slip undesired objects onto others, trick others into lowering their guard, or stealing what they carry on themselves.
One Man Army: B
Rider can stop acting like a goofy, laid back individual and get murderously intense when he sets his eyes on a target, although he will never lose his sanity, so this is different from Mad Enhancement. Rider's mind remains clear and focused but obsessively fixated on a roaring path of destruction.
This was best shown in his final attack on Vicious' building.
While on the warpath, and also generally speaking, Rider hides several weapons on himself, including a Jericho 941 handgun, a Ruger P85,and several other explosives and hand grenades.
Ostrich Funk: B
In life, Rider could swallow and regurgitate all sorts of small objects, such as casino chips or cigarettes, spitting them out none the worse for further usage. As a Servant, this skill also extends to other objects such as ammo and material wealth, as long as they can fit within Rider's mouth. It is a valuable tool for transporting small items without them being detected, to keep priceless riches from being stolen, or to carry compact but useful assorted materials into and through the battlefield.
Noble Phantasm:
Swordfish II: B
Type: Summonable Vehicle.
Up to 45 small units or 15 large units at a single given time.
Rider's own pride and trump card, the high speed flying vehicle he uses to engage in aerial dogfights.
It is a converted Asteroid racer, pimped up into a light battlecruiser of dubious legality.
Its arsenal includes four mounted machine guns, multiple missile launchers and a single large plasma cannon. The ammo available depends on the amount of mana Rider has at his avail at the moment.
As a Servant, Rider cannot use this ship to leave the planet's atmosphere.
Summon: "'You called? Name's Spike, but you can call me Rider. I'm here to help you on this assignment... whatever it is. Damn, I miss Jet, he could make sure what we were getting into before taking the jobs."
Start of Battle:
"Whatever happens, happens."
"I'm not going there to die. I'm going to find out if I'm really alive."
"Heh heh, let's do this."
"Just another job..."
Attack:
"Slow!"
"Out of shape!"
"Why are you even fighting?"
"Too easy..."
Damage:
"Don't shove."
"Pushy!"
"Hot tempered, I take?"
"What a temper!"
Damage by Noble Phantasm:
"Why, you bastard!"
Victory:
"Bang!"
"No bodies left. How am I supposed to collect the bounty this way!"
"Yawn."
"There'd better be a damn good dinner after this, Master."
Defeat:
"Life's but a dream."
"You're gonna carry that weight."
"I'm tired..."
"Please don't tell me I'm too old for this already!"
Noble Phantasm Activation:
"I'll show you a damn fine spaceship here. Don't blink! It's my Swordfish II."
Extra Dialogue:
"I just can't deal with kids..." (When you have Lancer Jeanne d'Arc Alter Lily, Berserker or Caster Negi Springfield, Caster Nursery Rhyme, Rider Alexander or Assassin Jack the Ripper).
"So you're some sort of cop, huh? My best friend was an ex-cop. Let me tell you, you're nothing like him." (When you have Archer Judge Dredd or Archer RoboCop).
"This is supposed to be a bounty hunter!? How can I compete with this kind of freak!" (When you have Assassin Lobo).
"I never liked clowns..." (When you have Caster Kefka Palazzo, Caster Mephistopheles or Assassin Joker).
"There's three things I hate. Kids. Animals. And women with attitude. And this brat is all three."(When you have Berserker or Lancer Kiyohime).
"Little Red Riding Hood is a bounty hunter too? What the fuck?" (When you have Archer, Avenger or Berserker B.B. Hood).
"I love music, but I hate those who downright murder it!" (When you have Lancer Elisabeth Bathory or Saber or Caster Nero Augustus).
Birthday: "Look, I can't sew, I can't cook, and I can't take you drinking yet. So here, have this money I earned from my latest job. It's not much, but beggars can't be pickers, you know?"
Event: "Do you think we can find any good pickings there? It's worth a try, I suppose."
Holy Grail: "That's a very damn good question. I'll think about it when we get it..."
See you, Space Cowboy.
Next:
Oh, the Merry-Go-Round broke down
And we went round and round
Each time t'would miss, we'd steal a kiss
And the Merry-Go-Round went
"Um-pah-pah, um-pah-pah! Um-pah! Um-pah! Um-pah-pah-pah!"
Oh, the Merry-Go-Round broke down.
To be Continued.
