Harry appeared in Stuttgart. It was night and people were screaming and running every direction while a man with a golden scepter was firing blasts of blue energy into the crowd as he laughed.
*Crack*
Harry apparated in front of a woman who was dragging her child away. With a flick of his wand the blue ball of energy was batted to the sky.
"LOKI!" Harry bellowed, attracting the man's attention.
"What do we have here?"
Harry fired a stunner that the man easily avoided.
"Ah, a seidhr. I thought your people had long since gone extinct."
"Put down the scepter and come quietly." Harry demanded.
"Ha, that's not likely."
With a wave of his weapon 3 more blasts of energy zoomed towards the fleeing people. Harry waved both his wands and several blue shields came into existence to block the attacks.
"Then prepare to suffer." Harry said while dashing forward.
Conjured knives pierced towards Harry, with a few flicks they were transfigured into hawks that circled towards the Asgardian. The knives were filled with such a potent amount of magic that Harry had required more magic than he planned to transform them.
The moment the birds dove towards the god, Harry locked eyes with him and realized something was wrong. The transfigured animals passed through him as a dozen copies of Loki materialized into existence.
Harry cursed, with what he discovered, it made his job considerably more difficult.
The man dodged all his spells. Harry switched to area attacks and started to blow up the ground around the illusions to get the real Loki to show itself.
"Amateur." Harry heard Loki whisper from directly behind him.
Harry sensed a knife plunging towards his back, but before Loki could finish his attack Harry rapidly changed.
A large paw connected with Loki's chest and sent him flying backwards. The God rolled to his feet and saw a large black griffon. (Body of a lion, wings and head of an eagle)
The creatures shifted back into the seidhr.
Loki raised his scepter to attack but vanished. Harry followed but had guessed wrong. He appeared behind Loki, and not in front of him. A blue blast was already heading towards a group that was crowding behind a car.
Before Harry could apparate in front of the blast, a man fell from the sky.
*Clang*
The blast reflected off his shield and rocketed back into Loki, knocking him off his feet.
Harry reached into his bag and quickly tossed a pair of devices. The magic suppressing binders wrapped around his feet and arms, stopping Loki from hopping up or teleporting away. With the strength of the gods magic, he would be able to break free. But not in an instant, he would need several seconds at least.
Before he had the time to do that, he was hit with half a dozen stunners and wrapped up in magically conjured chains.
Harry let out a breath of relief but kept the elder wand train on Loki.
"Thanks for the assist." Harry said.
Captain America nodded. He wasn't sure what was going on. He was told Loki was causing havoc but when he showed up, two people were engaged in a magic fight. Before he could say anything further, Iron man slammed into the ground next to him and kept a hand cannon trained on Loki.
Iron Man turned to the wizard and thanked the stars that his son had informed him of the magical world, or he might be as lost as Steve looked. "Good work, but we can handle it from here."
Harry chuckled. "Typical old man, 5 minutes too late and then he wants to take all the credit."
"Harry!"
"Let's keep quiet for now. We have to figure out jurisdiction first."
Tony was going to say something but then Harry pulled out a mirror and turned away from him. He tried to lean closer and listen in, but he only heard a buzzing sound, as if his son was being swarmed by insects. When he put the mirror away, the buzzing stopped.
"Were taking him to your lock up and I need to follow so I can conduct an interrogation."
As Harry finished speaking a quinjet landed and the rear ramp opened as the black widow walked down. "You come with us." She growled while pointing at Harry.
"Wow, somebody is a little fussy." Harry whispered, but Tony heard and laughed while Natasha narrowed her eyes towards the wizard.
Harry fired another stunner at Loki and then used his wand to levitate him onto the plane. Before the door closed Harry summoned a beautiful white translucent stag. He whispered to it and then it strode off into the night.
Once the ramp was closed Tony's face plate went up and he moved to the wizard.
"Harry, are you alright? He didn't hurt you did he?"
"I am fine." Harry noticed that Steve was looking at the two with a questioning glance. Harry pulled back his hood and smiled while he spoke to Steve. "Sorry, I should know better than to bring my father on a mission."
Steve chuckled. "I am always happy to have the help of a wizard when fighting for a just cause. Even if his dad shows up halfway through."
"What! You know about wizards too?" Tony asked Steve.
Captain America nodded. "During WW2 Dark Lord Grindelwald was working in conjunction with Hitler. I worked with wizards a few times on joint raids."
"But you looked so confused when we showed up." Tony said.
Steve shrugged. "Was not expecting to see a wizard in public."
Tony's eyes went wide as he turned back to Harry. "Are you going to get in trouble?"
Harry shook his head. "The ICW granted me a special dispensation. With Loki making magic look bad, they sent me out to counter that. I am not sure about all the specifics since it was rushed, but since there are strange normal people out there the ICW wants me to pretend to be a lone wizard and then gauge the public reaction."
Tony nodded before Harry spoke again.
"But you should be the one who is worried about getting in trouble."
"Me? I didn't do anything."
"That's the problem. You ran off into battle and didn't even let Pepper know that you were fine afterwards. I already contacted her and told her we were both okay, but the longer you go without letting her know the more she is going to think about me contacting her immediately while you couldn't be bothered."
"What! You little shit. You did that on purpose."
"Maybe." Said Harry with a grin.
That got a laugh out of Steve and even a small crack of a smile from Natasha.
Tony chickened out and had Jarvis notify Pepper that he was fine before turning to Natasha. "Did you also know about the witches and wizards?" She just stared back at him. He took it as a no, but with Natasha you could never really tell.
While they flew Tony kept pestering Harry about not telling him he could transform into a Griffon. That was until a large rumble of thunder rang followed by a large thud above.
Harry pulled his hood back up to take advantage of the enchantments he put on it.
"Hmm, someone with a large volume of elemental energy, specifically lightning and thunder."
Harry pulled his hood back down and looked at the still stunned and bound Loki. "I think his big brother is here."
Natash lowered the rear ramp so the god of thunder would try to force his way through.
A large man carrying a hammer walked into the aircraft.
"You will release my brother into my custody at once."
"We won't be doing that." Steve said.
"He will face judgment by Asgardian hands."
Harry could hear Tony's face mask slide back into place while his arc-reactor whined as it switched to battle mode. Before things could get worse, he decided to step in.
"Well met Prince Thor, Son of Odin. I am Lord Harry James Potter-Black-Peverell-Gryffindor-Slytherin. We wish your brother to answer some questions once we reach a secure facility. The Seidhr community does not believe his crimes warrant a stay in one of our prisons capable of holding him while the non-magical world wishes him to be locked up but doesn't have the abilities. It would be my pleasure if you would join us and observe while we seek the answers to our queries. Then I believe the question of Loki's judgment would be best left to the All-Father."
"What!" Natasha yelled. "You would let him go when you have a prison that would hold him? He killed over 100 people and has mind controlled at least 30 of our agents."
"Truly?" Thor asked, heartbroken at the destruction his brother had caused.
Steve solemnly nodded. "We need to find out where the missing men and women are. Right now, that is our priority."
Thor sighed and deflated. "Then I shall join you and keep watch over my brother."
"Prince Thor, would you mind if I asked you a question about your brother?"
"I would be agreeable Lord Harry James Potter-."
"Please, just call me Harry."
"Then you may call me Thor."
"Thank you. Those extra names and tittle always end up being a mouthful. What color are your brother's eyes? In our legends it was told his eyes sparkled like emeralds and in my youth my own were often compared to his."
"Yes, he has brilliant green eyes."
Harry nodded while Steve's head jerked up to look at Loki.
"That is what I thought. But when I stood face to face with him today, I noticed his eyes were a piercing sapphire bule. This caused me to look closer and I found magic, not his own, surrounding his mind. A magic most similar to that of the scepter he wields. I have no doubt that he is being controlled by it, but I do not know if he did so willingly or not."
"You mean my brother may not be in control of his own actions?"
"I am not sure. I just know magic affects his mind and he was an embarrassment in our fight earlier. If I had been fighting to kill and not capture, he would have been dead within seconds. I find it hard to believe that he would be defeated that easily. Either he wanted to be captured, or some part of his mind is trying to fight back, and he was to busy with his internal battle. Or perhaps both."
"That gives me much to ponder on."
Harry and Tony chatted about the quidditch match they were most likely going to miss tomorrow until they eventually landed.
When the ram lowered, Harry was surprised to see they were on a flying ship.
"Wow, this is pretty cool." Harry said while SHIELD agents rushed in to take Loki. He then turned to Tony. "Just think, if you can figure out how to magic proof tech, and built one of these, I could make it invisible and add some other things. At that point we would have a hidden floating island."
Tony's eyes lit up. "That would be pretty bitchin."
Harry and Tony followed the crowd in until they were led to a lab. Harry recognized Bruce Banner, the ICW had wanted to keep tabs on the man who could turn into a giant green rage monster. He hadn't ever seen him in action, but apparently his strength made giants look like toddlers. But according to their research, he had a major weakness. A strong enough cheering charm would banish the monster.
Natash and Steve stood off to the side while Tony went to help Banner search for whatever it was Loki took. Thor was looking a bit out of place but was staying near the seidhr. Harry was miffed that they were searching for some magic artifact. It seemed like the ICW should have stepped in and taken it but for some reason they didn't.
Then walked in a modern-day pirate. The man had a long leather coat and an eyepatch. Harry knew exactly who he was. He was one of the people that was let into the secret of the wizarding world.
When Furry entered, the room went silent. He scanned the place with his one good eye, and then settled on Harry.
"Mr. Potter, I had not been expecting your presence when I contacted the ICW, but I am glad they lent you to us."
Harry rolled his eyes. "Come on, Nicholas, we both know that wasn't the arrangement. I am more than happy to help, but I don't work for you. And I never will, it seems like your problem has gotten worse."
Furry narrowed his eyes but nodded. When the ICW heard that SHIELD had a hydra, they had asked Harry to investigate. Turned out the Hydra they were talking about wasn't a magical beast so Harry informed Furry and the ICW and them went back home.
"We will need to study the scepter; I would kindly ask that you turn it over."
Harry hated being the bad guy, and he knew Furry wasn't going to be happy.
"Ahh, that's not a good idea."
"Potter, we need to work together on this."
"Hey now, we left you the fancy blue box and didn't butt in on that. You don't hear me bring up how you lost it. But I think it is best for all involved if I secret away the scepter far from here. It's a literal sentient artifact. I know you only have my word for it, but right now I am the only reason it is not slowly trying to creep its way into your minds. I am blocking you all while focusing its attention is forced on to me."
"Are you alright?" Tony asked.
Harry waved him off. "My mental defense is top notch."
And that was the truth. Back in his fifth year Dumbledore had been insistent that Harry need to learn occlumency and had wanted Snape to teach him. That was one of the first times that Harry had straight up told the Headmaster no. Even when the bearded wanker whined that Snape was the only one to teach him since the Headmaster was too busy.
To this day Harry didn't know if the Headmaster was lying or just didn't know, but Hagrid was also a master at occlumency. When Harry told Dumbledore, the old man sputtered and said it wasn't true, but eventually got him to relent by simply asking Hagrid.
Even Voldemort, a master of mind magics wasn't able to break into the groundskeeper's head in Harry's first year. Quirrellmort had to get him drunk and then bribe him by 'losing' a dragon egg before he could get Hagrid to tell him how to get past Fluffy.
Harry thought Hagrid was a brilliant teacher. In just a few months he had all sorts of beasts and crazy plants forming a barrier around his mind and patrolling for threats. Unfortunately, with a backdoor through the horcrux, it did little to stop the dark lord.
Then once the horcrux was removed, the portion of his mind that had spent basically his entire life fighting off possession was incorporated into his defense, making it even stronger.
Once you add in the Master of Death debacle it became even stronger. The cloak literally cloaked his mind while the stone allowed phantoms of yesteryear to upgrade his defense even further.
Furry sighed. He only had a little personal experience with Potter, but he had a reputation of being morally upright. If Potter said so, then it was probably the truth.
"Can we at least take a look over it while you're here if you help protect us? Consider it repayment of thee favor you owe me."
Harry thought about it. While he should just take it and lock it in some deep dark vault, it wouldn't hurt to have a closer relationship with SHIELD if he was going to be a public wizard.
"I really shouldn't, but I might need your help in the future since the public will know about me. Let me set up some protections first. You can examine and test the scepter until I am finished with my interrogation. After this, my debt is cleared. Agreed?"
Fury did the closest thing he could to a smile. (He scowled softly) "Agreed."
Harry drew the elder wand and carved a runic circle on one of the metal tables. He then placed the scepter in the center of the table before layering several charms over it.
A runic script circled the magical device while staying a foot away, trapping its mental probes in a magical cage.
"It's set. Arms, hands, tools and what not are fine to enter runic circle. But under no circumstances should anyone stick their head inside of it." He said this while looking at both Bruce and Tony.
The men nodded as if that was a given, but sometimes you never knew with scientist.
Bruce started hooking several electronic devices up to the scepter while Tony quickly pulled Harry aside.
"Are you okay? I realize you have already cleared your debt with Fury, but to owe him a favor is a dangerous thing. If I can help in anyway just let me know."
Harry turned away with reding cheeks and rubbed the back of his head. If Tony didn't know any better, he was pretty sure that Harry was embarrassed. That intrigued him.
"So what did Fury do that required you to owe him a favor."
"Well…"
From the look on Harry's face, Tony knew he was right, it was certainly something embarrassing.
"Come on, you can tell me."
Harry laughed at himself, before shaking the thoughts from his head. "It wasn't a big thing. After I was done looking into SHIELD for the ICW I got a bit interested and asked Fury for a favor after the ICW met with him and broke the news about the wizarding world."
"Oh yeah, what did you ask for?"
Harry sighed. Looking back, it really was so silly and such a stupid request. "Well, I asked for a bunch of guns and a license to carry them."
"That' it?" Tony asked a bit bewildered. "Who knew you could get a free favor from a wizard just by giving him some guns."
At that, Natasha let out a small snort while she was eavesdropping and keeping her attention on Bruce.
"Come on Tony, I have spent most of my life in the wizarding world. He had a lot of guns I could play with. I mean a lot. At the time I was doing jobs for the ICW almost twice a month. I figured I could enchant them and do some cool stuff with them. But after I fixed them up, I used them once. They have sat in a chest ever since. In the end, they weren't as versatile or as powerful as a magic wand. It was just a childish idea that didn't really work."
"Pfft, that's alright. I am sure it was fun while you were working on them in the lab." Tony said while Harry nodded eagerly. "I love my creations and all, but I love building them even more."
Before Tony and Harry could get sucked into a talk about their love for projects, Bruce called for Iron Man's help since they only had the scepter for a limited time.
When Natasha left the room to take the first crack at Loki, Steve wandered over to Harry.
"From your accent, I assume you grew up in the British magical world?" The man asked.
"Yeah, graduated from Hogwarts and all that."
"Has Britan managed to pull itself out of the dark ages?"
Harry's expression waffled. "We are getting there. You disappeared around the end of the Grindelwald era?" Steve nodded in confirmation. "After him we had another Dark Lord, just as bad, maybe worse. The difference was that he focused entirely on the UK instead of Europe. He rose to power twice and had an unnatural ability to rise from the dead. He is gone for good, but he stalled pretty much all progress. In the past few years, we have made good progress, but we will have to let it stand the test of time first."
Harry and Steve watched the scientists work, while having no clue what they were doing.
"Are Dumbledore and McGonagall still around? I fought aside both fairly often."
That question surprised Harry.
"Dumbledore's dead, but that's really for the best." Steve gave him a questioning look. "The man may have been great, but he certainly wasn't good. He had a personal hand in the rise of 2 dark lords and his inaction and constant need for secrecy hindered everyone who chose to stand for the light. Near the end he only saw people as pawns and would sacrifice them with out hesitation if it suited his cause."
Harry could see a bit of recognition in Steves eyes. "And what was his cause."
"The Great Good of course."
Steve looked like he wanted to throw up, but Harry should have anticipated his action. In Captain America's mind he had been fighting Hitler and Grindelwald less than a year ago. It was understandable that the man would react badly to the dark lord's cause.
"And McGonagall?" He asked nervously.
"Best bloody teacher I ever had. Was my head of house and still works at Hogwarts. Whenever I am near the castle I like to drop by for a cup of tea."
Steve let out a breath of relief and smiled. "After a good fight and the drinking started her accent always got so thick that nobody could ever understand her. That woman could really drink. Then the next morning she was right as rain and back to being prim and proper with a healthy respect for the rules."
Harry was trying his best not to laugh at the idea of McGonagall drunk.
"That's so hard to imagine, maybe I should bring that up next time I see her. She has a reputation of being a stern teacher, but is always fair… unless sports are involved. But she will help anybody who asks. She even bought me my first broom and then bent the rules that said a first year couldn't play on the school team."
Steve's smile was beaming while he was thinking about his old friend. "That does sound like her. She was always going on and on about that game… quid pitch?"
"Quidditch, she loves it. My best mate ended up playing professionally. I know he sends her a set of season tickets every year and the only games she misses are the ones the conflict with the timing of her class."
Steve and Harry continued to chat while watching Natasha interrogate Loki. That was until she tricked him into letting slip his goal.
He intended to unleash the Hulk.
Even with the scepters powers nullified Harry wasn't going to take a chance.
His wand flashed to his hand and a cheering charm struck Bruce in the chest.
"What was that!?" One of the SHIELD agents guarding the room demanded while drawing his weapon.
The other agents prepared for a scuffle, but Bruce just turned towards Harry with a big grin on his face.
"Amazing." The quiet scientist whispered to himself before repeating the question in a tone of intrigue instead of accusation.
"A cheering charm." Harry replied. "From my information, anger fuels your transformation. I figured happiness might reverse it."
Bruce nodded while still smiling. "I feel at ease, but I don't think the other guy is too happy."
Harry contemplated and then reached into one of his pouches. He pulled out a vial and handed it to Bruce. "Try that. It is a calming draught. It dampens emotions and centers your mind."
If Bruce hadn't been under the influence of the cheering charm, he might not have drank a random potion given by someone he didn't know, but that wasn't the case.
After he downed the potion, his smile disappeared but his shoulders seemed to sag in relief.
Bruce let out a content groan. "Mmm, he liked that. I feel like muscles I didn't know about have suddenly unclenched and relaxed. That draught is aptly named. I don't think I have ever felt this calm since my accident."
Harry nodded. "Perhaps that is the way to go instead of the charm then. Theoretically, you should still be able to gather anger and transform if you need to, but I suspect your mind will be clearer while doing so. It doesn't remove emotions; it only dampens your response to them. The potion should last about an hour."
"That's great." Bruce calmly said. "Do you have anymore?"
Harry dug into his pouch when he remembered another option. He switched to a different bag and pulled out a flask before tossing it to Bruce.
"It's a bottomless flask. Not really, but its about half full right now. Should have around 25 doses. A single mouthful will suffice. Just a warning, after the effect wears off, another drink of it won't have any effect for about 2 hours."
"Wow, thanks."
Harry tried not to snicker. The man sounded so relaxed it was almost like he was stoned or half drunk. The wizard assumed it was just the muted joy of having finally being able to relax for the first time in years.
"No proble-."
*Boom*
